Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

I had a nice blue ceramic crock that uses bags for collecting kitchen scraps, but the bags would leak [begin to break down?], and I didn't like sending the crock to the compost bin with the 8-year old...but this steel one has no bag, and we can bang it on the fence upside down to get all the [*] out from the bottom. So, now who'd like to buy [repurpose?] my beautiful blue crock?

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

I have loved your ceramic crocks. I owned two of them and they worked almost perfectly, but eventually the lids cracked. I was really disappointed that the metal crock has larger holes in the lid - apparently to ensure that charcoal filters are bought. With the larger holes, I am having odor released which never happened with ceramic ones. (I empty the crock a few times a day, as needed). Please redesign with smaller holes.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

I used to keep kitchen scraps in a bucket in the garage. Even with a lid it got smelly and sometimes fruit flies developed. This bucket with the bio bags is wonderful! It looks nice on my counter, is easier than carrying everything to the garage and keeps all odors contained! I only bag it up once a week for two people.

Looked at the ceramic versions, because they went with our kitchen more... but got this one because it was bigger. After receiving it, I realized that I always bang the pail on the fence to empty it into the compost heap. I don't think the ceramic would take my abuse very well, but the sturdy steel pail is indestructible -- very pleased with it.

This container looks stylish on our kitchen counter and holds a large amount of kitchen scraps with no smell. The handle makes it easy for the kids to carry it out to the compost heap and empty it. One complaint:I wish it had come with instructions about how/when to replace the charcoal filter and with an extra filter. It's not rocket science to buy another filter or figure out how to yank the old one out, but it'd be more convenient without the guesswork. Otherwise, good product as advertised -- and much better than the cheap plastic bucket I used to use.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

After breaking the lids on two crockery compost bins, I was glad to receive this attractive stainless one. It holds more than the other models but there are two problems. One is easily solved--the compost bags tend to slip inside, so we put a rubber band around the rim. The other problem is the bottom is so light weight that it must be held down in order for you to pull off the lid--that means you need both hands free every time you want to put something in the crock. A weighted bottom would improve this model.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

Our first compost crock was a white ceramic model, which looked good, but when dropped---bad things happened. After gluing the lid back from 8 pieces, I knew it was time to get a new one. The stainless steel is sturdy, can go in the dishwasher, and holds even more scraps---which does come in handy in the winter. Composting has greatly reduced our trash, we hardly use our garbage disposal, and we have a cleaner trash can.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

This is a great product that looks good in the kitchen. It was larger than I expected but doesn't take up much space in the kitchen. It takes our family of 4 about five days to fill it up (depending on what we eat). The only drawback is that since it holds so much it gets pretty gross inside without a bag/liner. Of course that is a problem with any product like this. I think I will try the "green" bags that are recommended. The filters work well and we don't have any smell when we open the lid to add more.

Love this countertop compost pot. I gather kitchen scraps & coffee grounds in it, and when it's full, I carry it out to my backyard composter. First, the good things...This pail is attractive and a good size. It is also indestructible--we broke our first counter compost container.

However, I had to take the filters out b/c we let it get a little full and I needed to clean everything. I guess I didn't get the filters back in correctly, even though it looked correct to me. Yesterday, I opened the pail and fruit flies came pouring out of it, many crawling out of the lid.

I'm not giving up on it however, just a little disappointed. Unfortunately, I'm going to give "Gardener's Supply Company" a little more business; I'm ordering the fruit fly trap!

Just the right capacity for a weeks worth of coffee grounds plus the majority of vegetable scraps. Sturdy construction - I am sure that it will last a long time. Rather expensive for a tiny steel "trash can" however. Perhaps the filter lid adds to the cost. I have encountered no odor problem at all (I keep the lid tilted, not a complete closure, to let some of the moisture escape after adding warm coffee grounds) and I haven't even needed the filter.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

I have saved kitchen waste headed to the compost pile for years in a plastic tub. It was unsightly and often smelled bad. This mini garbage can eliminated the tub. Being made of stainless steel, I don't have to worry about rust forming and it sure looks better than the "tub" on my counter. It is a bit higher than I would have liked since my upper cabinets don't allow a lot of clearance for it. I would definetely recommend it to anyone wanting a neat clean looking for their waste waiting to go to the compost pile.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

I bought this for my mom for Christmas and she loves it. Have only been using it for a little over a month but have never had any bad smells so far. I bought the disposable bags to go along with it which makes it easy to take outside to dispose but the handle also makes it easy to carry. It isn't too big but if it were any bigger it would probably look out of place. I wanted another one that fit our kitchen decor better but it didn't come with a handle and I thought the handle would be more important than looks and I am glad I made that decision.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

We use this light, sturdy little pail every day to collect kitchen scraps and leaves from houseplants and when full we take it to the composter outside
and dump it in - neat and clean and there is never any odor.
I especially like the double filter feature and the secure way they stay in the
lid. The fact that it is unbreakable is terrific because my husband broke the last one as it was a ceramic one and he hit it too hard. Also, the filter kept falling out and was most aggravating since it had to be retrieved by hand from the big composter every time.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

The compost crock looks fantastic but the stainless steel lid is much harder to remove from the crock than the ceramic version which I had before. On the plus side the stainless has much better odor control and has more room for more scraps. Overall I like it but if there had been a ceramic version in a color that matched my kitchen that would have been my preference because my hands are either a mess or full when I want to open the crock. I have to clean my hands to get a proper grip to get it open

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

The product looks great, is the right size to fit in the kitchen and hold 3 or 4 days of vegetable scraps and coffee grounds. The only thing I really don't like about it is the huge MADE IN CHINA on the side of the box it came in. That just tells me that in the best case, a lot of CO2 was produced just to ship this here, and in the worst case, it could be made of toxic materials in a plant that runs off child labor. You have to realize that most people that compost do it with a conscience, and would much prefer a product that was made domestically.

Something went "off" in our plastic compost pail - it was not pretty. For days we could not eradicate the odor from our kitchen. We realized that the plastic had absorbed the odor and the filters were not working. We went in search of a metal pail with a filter that would be slightly smaller than our old plastic version. This pail fits the bill. Since purchasing it I've seen it on the counter tops of many of my friends. It's a little expensive, but it's durable, solid construction will last forever.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

So far so good (I am holding out on the 5th star rating b/c it is so new). It is only in its first month of use as a gift for friends. I use it sometimes while house-sitting for them. No bugs, easy to carry and clean, and looks fine on the kitchen counter. Friends (gift recipients) like it b/c of its capacity and it won't break (like the ceramic crock) if they drop it en route to the outdoor composter.

I'm glad that I purchased it.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

This kitchen composter looks great in my kitchen. It has no odor and holds a good amount of kitchen compost waste. The only negative that we have found is that with the bag inside, the top often sticks and it is difficult to open. It takes two hands and repeated tugging to get the top off. All in all however, it does the job that it was purchased for and does it with style.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

This is a nice sized and truly odor free counter container for items headed to compost. Our only issue is that there is a bit of trouble using it with the recommended bio bags due to the tightness of the lid - and, of course, the bag will show around the lip of the can. We couldn't find any way to secure the bag completely inside the can.

Comments about Stainless Steel Compost Crock:

I found what I was searching for when I ordered this compost pot. While the ceramic pots may come in pretty colors, this pot assures me of no accidental breakage. It's attractive in the kitchen, easy to carry out to empty and clean and the cover with filter keeps the kitchen free of odor. My most troublesome problem with what I used previously was the fruit flies. I have not had a problem with that since using this pot. The little pests are gone!

Bought this particular model because it was metal. I know my 4-year old will be carrying and dumping it occasionally and I did not want to get a ceramic model in fear of her eventually dropping it. It looks good and the carbon filter in the lid seems to do a good job of keeping the odor down.

I use this in the kitchen to collect scraps for composting. I add tea leaves and coffee, with the unbleached filters. I am impresses with the sturdiness of the material.

This is an attractive container and a great size. My only real problem with it is that the lid sticks and since it has scraps in it it's a bit scary when I'm trying to pull the lid off. It could get a bit messy. The quality of the material is good though perhaps it's a bit pricey.

This is a wonderful product. When I purchased I had some concerns with the size and if the fruits/vegetables would begin to decay and smell before I filled the container and emptied.
