This is the perfect solution to a big batch of pesto. The worst part about making pesto is cleaning the food processor. This way, you can make a large batch and benefit from being able to store the pesto and use it at a later date. It then tastes as fresh as the day you made it. The cube sections are the perfect size for a double serving.

My freezer is so neat now. Gone are all the odd sized small containers that wouldn't stay stacked. Now my leftover herbs and zests are nicely stored. I always zest citrus before squeezing so I have zest when needed. I also whiz up any leftover cilantro, parsley or other soft herbs with just enough olive oil to process, then freeze to add to future meals. Leftover portions of tomato paste or chipotles in adobo can now be saved - the red will probably discolor the plastic container, but then I'll have dedicated containers for those staining foods. I think I need another set...my herb garden isn't even planted yet! I can't respond to the durability or construction quality as I haven't 'washed, re-used, washed' this product yet.

I have given these at 2 baby showers for mothers to make their own baby food, freeze and then have the convenience of just grabbing one, self-contained, portion. I also use these in my own lunch box for smaller portions and for nuts and seeds I sprinkle on my lunch - genius!

The size of the containers are perfect for what I needed. I have a small dog that needs home-cooking due to a sensitive tummy. These containers hold the exact amount of chicken I need for each of his meals. And, I can freeze the extra that I won't be using for a few days. I've been looking for an item like this for so long. Plus the stacking trays for the containers are GREAT!!! No more toppling over containers in my fridge or freezer. So useful for so many things.

These will be the perfect size to keep very small amounts of various foods in the freezer, including extra eggs (blended) and leftover meat/fish bits to use as cat treats or to flavor rice. This is a great item for pre-preparing herbs and sauces for cooking. The individual "cubes" are a perfect size but they are lightweight and will tip over if you aren't careful. I'm not sure how durable they will be given the way the lids are attached but hope they will last a while since I find them very useful both for food preparation and for freezing flavors for iced drinks.

I save the juice from the tiny wild blackberries I pick - I used to put it in ice cube trays & use in sparkling water, Pellegrino, cocktails etc. - great for kids & adults - this is much neater & easier! Terrific for single dinner pesto. Going to try to make Verjuis this weekend with some of our grapes & freeze - finding new uses all the time. May need another set. Great Product!!!

Pesto cubes were recommended by two master gardeners who provided a class in pesto-making & use. We now grow our own basil, make multiple types of pesto and enjoy using it throughout the year. When we make a batch of pesto, we put all of it into cubes immediately, place several cubes in the refrigerator for ready quick use and freeze the remainder. Tray facilitates neat efficient storage of filled cubes in the freezer or empty cubes in our cabinet.

Be sure to wash before use. Don't fill too full as pesto expands when frozen. Also used these to store other herbs. Husband used one to dispense vitamins on a daily basis.

These are fantastic! I have used them to freeze chopped fresh herbs, citrus juice, tomato paste, veg & meat broth and egg. Perfect for little dabs of this & that that you can use in some dish later. I label them with a piece of freezer tape. My only criticism is that they could be made a bit more sturdy. Mine are holding up fine, but I hand wash them even though the Mfr says they are dishwasher safe; I want them to last a long time!

While this is a good idea, the containers do not seal well which means that contents will either spill out easily or get freezer burn. I put an additional layer of plastic wrap and a rubber band on the lid to keep it closed. Fix the seal and you'll have an excellent product.

Using my ice cube trays was out of the question as I didn't want the smell, excuse me the, the fragrance, the oil or the color to show up in my ice trays down the road. This was my first attempt at making my own pesto... I had enough left over for a jar to keep in the fridge, as well as my trays. I bought some for my daughter as well. Next year, due to the success of my plants, I will be planting more and will need more trays. I love the storage, as it stacks and stays in place. For me, this was a great find! I will have to post after a while to let you know how they turned out when I use the frozen ones! Thanks again!

Basil is my largest crop in my urban garden. We have been making basil for years. They are easy to fill and store nicely in the tray.Put the cubes in warm water for a minute and pop the cubes into a Ziplock bag. I bought 4 and I only needed 2 because they are temporary for freezing.I don't have a dishwasher so the plastic of the cubes seemed to have a residue of olive oil on them after washing.

We grow a lot of basil and freeze many containers of pesto each year. Having these individual sized cubes of pesto is very convenient for either single portions or in other recipes when pesto is used as a topping or a condiment.

I had hoped to put home made dog food in it for my tiny dog. They are too small for that. Also, you can only fill it about 3/4 of the way because when it expands, it pops the top. (there is a fill line) The cubes just sit on the tray, they aren't held on by anything, so in my freezer right now, they all have popped tops, which caused freezer burn, and are scattered. Bad choice on my part. They're probably good for something though.

I love this product. I used to use an ice cube tray and that worked o.k. but the pesto would get dried out in a short amount of time. These containers are the perfect size, the cover helps keep the pesto longer and because they are individual containers I can share my pesto with friends and faimily. I will also use them to store chopped garlic, onion, etc.

This is my first time using the pesto cubes.I bought 2 sets because I make a lot of pesto.The
cubes are more convenient but much smaller than my normal sandwich bag size that I make for 1 serving.I was able to determine how many cubes I will need because I always make the same size batch.I froze them immediately,so will have to see how they taste when I thaw them

I am using mine to freeze basil. I basically like the little cells because they have lids, thus making them more suitable for the freezer. The "slots" they fit into in the base could be higher because the cells tend to fall over, but once in the freezer they should be okay. Please note that I have just started using mine so I can't give a long term evaluation.

I initially bought this from another website and am now ordering more from Gardeners Supply (not just my favorite retailer, but the price here is lower too). I don't have enough basil this year for pesto, but the little covered cubes are perfect for many other things. I buy lemons when they're on sale, juice them and store the juice in the cubes. I also make my own mayonnaise, and always have the problem of leftover egg whites. I used to freeze them in a regular ice cube tray, but this is far better (no freezer burn, much easier to remove just one cube's contents, nothing else falling into the frozen item, etc.) This is one of those items that you wonder why someone didn't think of it a long time ago.
