We live out in the country and have a gravel driveway. When it snows or rains are driveway and yard gets mushy. The boot tray is great to put wet, muddy, sloppy boots or shoes on to keep there till they dry and you don't get the mess trample through your house. Great idea. We have wood floors so this gives us a place to put our wet, snowy, dirty shoes. Holds about 5 to 6 pairs of shoes next to each other, depending how big they are and maybe one to two extra pairs heal to toe. If it was a bit wider more womens sized shoe could fit. We've been needing one of these storage trays for YEARS! Friends have different types of boot trays but I have to admit this one is the most durable, functional (the grids keep the boots UP and out of the wet that drips from them = they dry). and isn't an eyesore. I use these trays with the available grids to display my plants and create a micro climate for them. We live in a northern state and tramp around in boots for much of the year. These are the BEST boot mats we've ever found. Great design - they allow the mud and water that otherwise just melt on other mats and then stay on your boots, to melt in the bottom section away from your boots. You can shake them out and hose them off easily outside. We have them in our house, our barn, and our honey house. Well worth the extra money - they last and last.

We used this tray for plants to catch the water. The tray is deep enough and the mats are a good grade rubber so they are not flimsy. The only con is the tray twists a little when lifting to empty, but is manageable with two people.

I originally bought this set for our winter boots, but got the big idea to make a large, automatic watering system for my garden plants while on vacation. I purchased a roll of wicking material, cut it to size with excess at each end and between the rubber inserts, filled it with water and set my pots on top. My plants thrived while we were gone for the week and they didn't soak up too much water. The moisture level was perfect. I love this system so much that I purchased another set!
