I also bought this for a gift, as well as for myself. I think it is one of the nicer, more practical ones I have seen. I lean it against the wall to stabilize it. I would buy it again for it's usefulness outweighs any flaws.

Easy access to most frequently worn jewelry. Attractive contemporary feeling design. BUT the base needs to be heavier as it tips over unless you are very careful about using it.
