My husband and I use this along with the biobags on a daily basis. We collect our kitchen scraps and fruit remains from juicing on a daily basis. Using this pail, allows us to collect and dispose of the waste on a weekly basis, without any mess or smell. The pail is attractive enough to leave out.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

I keep it on the counter by the sink so that it is handy for my husband to deposit his morning coffee grounds. I add trimmings from dinner salad prep. After dinner, a quick trip to the compost bin, a fresh bio-bag, and it's all set for the next day. I do take a couple of seconds to wipe out the pail as I'm finishing the dinner dishes before putting in the new bio-bag. Odor free!!

I am a novice composter and wanted a nice looking bucket to put on my counter for fruit and vegetable scraps. I also wanted something that didn't stink. This perfect size bucket does the job and is very reasonably priced. I empty it every couple of days, rinse it out and it's back in service. Love it!

The handle is sturdy and the lid fits well. Add to that the affordable price compared to other companies and stores and we are happy.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

I actually use this a food waste bucket for my chickens. I was just using a plastic pail on top of my counter without a lid and it was stinky and gross.

I couldn't find anything that I liked that would look good on the counter until this. I love the stainless steel look and it does look nice on the counter.

It does keep the odors contained within the pail, but once you take the lid off you get a whiff of ickyness. It keeps the fruit flies a little bit more contained. Sometimes I find them surrounding the lid because someone left a little bit of food on their hand and then opened the lid.

The is certainly not the perfect product for what I am using it for, but it is a great improvement.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

We dropped our first one soon after we got it 3 yrs ago so the lid fit roughly afterwards. That may have also led to the leak that developed in the bottom. Still, it is attractive and we like having it on the counter (a previous plastic one just looked icky) - so we bought another - and are trying not to drop it on the floor.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

This is actually an attractive pail. I have brushed stainless appliances in my kitchen and it matches them perfectly. I generally dump it once a week, but you might have to dump more often if you cook for a family.

The lid does seal fairly well, but you really want a biobag or something similar to provide a better seal. I don't have any odor from the pail, but unfortunately a few ants found it after I threw the remnants of a mango in the pail. So, I'm trying to get rid of the ants now.

Wet items (like coffee grounds) can sweat through biobags and make a bit of a mess, but the pail is very easy to clean with soapy water.

I haven't found a better pail anywhere near this price.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

This compost pail is perfect for our home. We had a ceramic pail before and it always seemed to smell. (Plus, it was heavy and breakable - hence the purchase of a new pail...) The stainless steel is so easy to clean (we even put it in the dishwasher every once in a while) and it looks great on our counter. The lid does a great job locking in odors. It has a good-sized capacity and it can take a number of days to fill it up. However, we tend to empty it every other night, just to prevent it from smelling when we open the lid.

This pail is attractive sitting on our kitchen counter. When the lid is on, there's no discernible odor. If I were making recommendations to the manufacturer, I would recommend two things. First, I wish it were a leetle-beet larger. Second, it would be nice if it latched, to keep pets and young children from getting into it. (I couldn't find one anywhere that latched.)

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

I purchased this compost crock when my ceramic one broke (dropped on tile floor). This stainless steel crock was the least expensive, so I was somewhat concerned about the quality, however I am very pleased with this crock. It is lightweight, easy to clean and dump, and won't break if I drop it. The only drawback is that the lid is not very tight-fitting and it seems that some sort of gasket around the rim would help to seal in any odors and prevent fruit flies. We haven't needed to use the liners in this crock, as it is so easy to dump. This crock does not have a place to insert a filter, although we've never found much benefit from the filters so I am not bothered by this.

This attractive pail sits on the floor under one of our counters and looks great. The lid was a problem for some who reviewed this product, however, it fits well and there has been absolutely no odor. The only issue I have with this product is that it is too small which forces a trip to the outside compost bin more often.

There's no smell, no fruit flies, its handle makes it easy to carry & the lid is easy to take off & put back on.

we cook fresh food everyday and this is a great pail to keep in the kitchen for kitchen scraps that will go to the compost.
It looks great if you would like to keep it on the counter, its sturdy not like some of the flimbsy plastic pails, the size is good, not too giant not to small, sometimes i do need to empty it twice a day but thats ok, it doesn't absorb any odors, and the lid keeps bugs out. I wish i had bought this pail years ago. I love it.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

The container is a reasonable size although one that's a bit bigger would be nice. (We consume a lot of vegetables and fruit so we fill it pretty quickly, requiring more trips to the backyard composter.) It's light-weight and the handle makes it well-balanced and easy to carry to the compost pile. The only caveat is that the lid is a bit narrower than I'd like and fruit flies can occasionally take advantage of a tiny gap to invade the container.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

I have had this compost bucket for 2+ years now and it is just what I wanted. I searched for a long time before purchasing - I wanted a no frills stainless steel bucket with lid and it was surprisingly hard to find. A lot of compost pails are trying to be fancy (eg, the kind that look like a fire hydrant to me) and the plastic ones will hold odors and stain. This stainless steel bucket is very practical. It holds a lot, has a wide top for easy piling in of scraps and is odor free (no special charcoal filters needed). It is super easy to clean and can be scrubbed out if necessary. It is fairly attractive to me, in a classic sort of way, and I leave it out on the counter. I love it and highly recommend.

Our kitchen would not function without a compost bucket in which we collect vegetable and plant matter before carrying them outside into our compost bin. We fill our bucket several times a week and feel great about not throwing these items into the landfill. Our little stainless steel bucket has a lid that fits tightly, thus eliminating odors and insects. The lid comes off easily allowing quick access, and is easily cleaned. And the bucket looks cute in the kitchen. W

This is just what I was looking for. A compost pail without the carbon filters and without the holes in the lid. If you are just composting kitchen scraps and empty it weekly, it won't smell, and you won't need the carbon filters. The lid is tight enough to keep out fruit flies but I could easily cut some parchment paper to make an extra tight seal if I need to for winter use (when the house is closed up and it might have a perceptible odor, although it doesn't now with coffee grounds, banana peels, egg shells and other assorted scraps in it)

We worried about purchasing this compost bucket instead of one with a carbon filter in the lid. But this one was much more in keeping with our kitchen decor so we decided we could just empty it every day if we needed to avoid odors. Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

The best thing about this compost pail is that it is unbreakable, and seeing as how I just broke my old one, I decided to go with stainless. It may not be as heavy duty as the expensive stainless crock, but I like the design - it looks great in my contemporary kitchen which we just remodeled with stainless appliances, granite countertops, and a ceramic tile floor. (Now do you see how I broke my last crock?) I also like that I don't need filters for the top in order for my kitchen to remain odor free, it has an airtight lid and keeps bugs out. It has a large capacity, and holds lots of scraps, I used to have to take out cantaloupe rinds seperately, they would completely fill my old crock. Great product.

We were constantly taking our small compost pail out to the composter....and it attracted fruit flies! This pail is much larger and nothing can get into it. This is a fantastic way to control fruit fly problems and safely store kitchen scraps until you can get to the composter bin.

This little pail is just perfect! I've had it for a little over a year now. It is attractive enough to keep right on my kitchen counter. The size is just right...large enough to hold a few days worth of kitchen scraps, but small enough that it has to be emptied before it starts smelling badly. No need to bother with carbon odor control filters. The stainless steel ensures that it doesn't rust, chip, or break. I just wash it out after each time I empty it, and it still looks as new as it did the day I got it.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

I'd been looking for a nice counter top compost pail to put my kitchen scraps in. Many were ugly. Many were expensive. This was both attractive and reasonably priced. I like that the stainless steel does not absorb odors. I wish the lid had a seal to keep odors in, but I empty mine about every other day, so smell is not too much of a problem. Good bang for the buck.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

We had been using a stainless steel bowl to collect our kitchen scraps and dumping it daily (or sometimes twice daily) into the compost at the bottom of the garden. This worked fine during the winter -- but we were getting overrun by fruit flies! This works perfectly. It is larger than I had expected and thus holds more scraps. And although it has no fancy filter, not a whiff of anything escapes.

And is attractive enough it doesn't have to be stowed each time company comes.

I bought this hoping I wouldn't have to make the daily run to empty the bin. I have found that food molds pretty fast in this. (you have maybe 24 hours) it's great otherwise as it looks nice but just be aware you need to empty it daily if you want to keep the compost from becoming moldy.

I've had this pail for several years. Does the job but not fancy. Good price compared to others. Lid IS loose fitting and can get knocked off. No rust except for the screw that attaches knob to the lid. The stainless steel does show water spots and fingerprints easily. Contains odors as long as lid is in place. Mostly happy with it but would prefer to have a tighter fitting lid.

It is so easy to just toss all my scraps in and not have to keep opening the cupboard to put things in the trash can like I used to.

Great pail. Just started composting - and having the pail right there makes it very convenient and it doesn't smell. It just takes me a few minutes to carry to my large composter once per week. I've had contents in for a week, and no smell. I bought one for my Mom - and she loves it too. An easy way to start composting - rather than throwing scraps in the garbage!

So far, the container has met all as stated in the product description.

I collect all our plant-based kitchen scraps in this pail, to carry to our compost pile. The pail holds a lot! The well-fitting lid hides the contents and contains odors, while being easy to remove and replace. I add water to the pail before I carry it our to our compost pile, since we are in a drought here, that makes one less thing for me to carry! It looks clean and tidy on our kitchen counter, and no leaks. A wonderful change from the old bread bags we used to use!!!

I love it & would highly recommend it. I keep it on the counter near the coffee maker for grounds & used filters. No more dripping accross the floor to the trash, & it looks great. The lid does fit snugly enough that there are no odor or bug problems. I also add banana peels and other fruit or vegetable waste. I am thinking about ordering another one to leave outside on the deck or back porch for my husband & friends to put cigar butts & ash in. The lid makes it rainproof, which would eleminate a lot of mess out there!

I use this to gather all the trimmings from my veggies in the kitchen when I'm prepping. I can then make one trip to the compost bin in the yard every couple of days. I put my coffee grounds in with the other stuff, and I've never had an odor problem.

The handle makes it easy to carry out to and dump in my compost bin, and the stainless steel cleans easily. It reminds me of a stainless steel ice bucket, but I haven't found a similar one for a better price.

Only complaints are related to the knob on the lid. It is recessed a bit too much to grab firmly (not a huge deal, but that's why it got 4 stars and not 5), and there was a sharp edge on the knob too, but I took a bit of emery paper to it.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

The pail is very nice and looks great and unobtrusive on the kitchen counter. Unfortunately, after about 6 months use, we notice that the metal was actually splitting vertical down the side of the pail.

At first, we just thought it was a manufacturing defect that we hadn't noticed until then, but soon 2 more splits in the metal occurred. We figured that our practice of banging the pail on the top of the compost bin to get all of the contents out had something to do with it, because the steel is a pretty thin gauge. It's still usable with the eco liner bags, but we weren't counting on using them.

It's still a good choice if you don't bang it around too much and use the liner bags.

We ordered the new heavier duty pail and will report on it when we have used it for a while.

This simple container is the best we've had in the kitchen. The lid is secure, which prevents odor escaping, and the handle facilitates carrying the container out to the composter. This compost pail is larger than I expected, it holds 2-3 days worth of waste. It is very plain but looks nice in the kitchen. I chose this pail because I didn't want to mess with a filter. I have not been disappointed. Although there is no "seal", there is no odor associated with the pail. It's easy to empty and rinse out. I purchased one as a gift for my dad to encourage him to start composting as well.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

I use the counter compost bin next to my sink. Everything about it is perfect except I'm noticing small signs of rust on the edges where the lid sits on the pail. I put coffee grinds in and vegetable/fruit scraps but I was not expecting that type of moisture to make the compost pail rust. Will wait to see if it progresses before returning it because returning is always a hassle and like the product otherwise.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

I initially wanted the bamboo compost pail for its attractiveness and because it would coordinate with the wood in my kitchen, but alas, it was too pricey for me. Now that I have bought and been using the stainless pail, I love it. There's no concern about water damage, it looks great near my brushed stainless faucet, and it picks up absolutely no odor from fruit and veggie scraps. Finally, it can be cleaned in the dishwasher or nearly as easily by hand. Thanks for a great product that I'd recommend to others.

We used to have an open plastic bucket for storing our kitchen scraps before they were dumped into the compost heap. This item is much more attractive, and the compost is odor free. In my opinion it's a little easier to use than the ceramic bins w/filters out there because it is virtually unbreakable. Great product at a great price.

Before, I used plastic containers that smelled bad and looked awful on my counter. And then I found the brushed stainless steel compost bucket. I love it! It looks nice, holds a lot, doesn't smell (as long as you take it out every few days, and any smell disappears with plain dishwashing soap and water, unlike plastic buckets), is easy to carry, and doesn't take a lot of space on my kitchen counter. Even the price was worth it. There are no refills or things to buy in order for it to work. It has taken kitchen scrap composting to a whole new level in our house. We love it.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

I keep this pail on the kitchen counter. During the week I add fruit and vegetable scraps, egg shells, paper towels and coffee grinds. By the end of the week it gets plenty stinky inside. But keep the lid closed and you would never know it. This pail does an excellent job of keeping the funk at bay until I am ready to add the goods to the big composter outside. And the fact that it does not require the purchase of extra parts is a big plus.

For a newbie organic gardener (or a old-hand, too) this is a great way to collect all that yucky "stuff" which make great compost - without having it stink up the kitchen, attract those pesky little fies, or look gross. It cleans up with just a wipe of the sponge, and looks good on the counter, and survives the occasional stumble to the composter (those dratted rocks). Great product!

This elegant stainless steel pail is a receptacle for all our kitchen compostable scraps--from egg shells and coffee grounds/filters to vegetable and fruit ends/skins. Takes 2 of us about 2-3 days to fill, depending on the season, before burying the contents outside in a 3'x3' area.
There is zero odor (because it's stainless steel) and it is very attractive.
Will make a great gift for someone who is interested in composting.

After searching the internet for the cheapest, yet best compost pail, I choose this one because of the previous reviews. The reviews were right on. It holds a lot of scraps, it's easy to clean, and there was no odor after food was sitting in it for a couple of days. Also, It looks great sitting on the counter. Plus there are no filters to buy. It's a once and done purchase!

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

I really like the look of this on our countertop and knew its capacity when I ordered it but I wish it came in a larger size. I did look around and this was the best product I could find so I like it but just wish it was somewhat larger. Right now, I fill it up in about a day or two (we're a family of 4 -- 2 adults and a 2 and 4-year old). My other compost "transfer" container was a huge pot that didn't look so nice on my countertop but I could fit about 4-5 days worth! Now that was a bit much and heavy to transfer so I went looking for something smaller. Anyway, this is a good buy. Just make note of its size.

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

I was thinking of purchasing the ceramic type kitchen compost collector pail. It came in enough colors and it is really pretty but I didn't think it was big enough. I also would have the added worry of it breaking especially when I would ask my children to dump the scraps in the composter out in the garden after dinner. With the stainless steel pail, it is plenty large enough and I can make one trip every few days. My daugher already dropped it and it came out of it unblemished. Very strong steel and will have it for many, many years to come. My kids love it too and even suggest scraps you can put in it. I highly recommended it. Love! Love!

Comments about Brushed Stainless Steel Compost Pail:

I worried that this container would allow odors to escape into my kitchen throughout the week, however, it works perfectly. The only time we get an odor is when we open the lid. Without a rubber gasket around the lid this actually surprises me...but it's a great design and works just as stated. It's also cheaper than some of the others and looks perfect in my kitchen since it's stainless. I would suggest using the biodegradeable bags with it though...otherwise you have to scrap everything out when you go to pour it into the compost unit. Great product for good price.

I like this pail so much better than the one I had with an odor filter (which got moldy)and a plastic liner bucket. It's just the right size, the lid fits tightly enough to keep odors in, and I can pop the whole thing in the dishwasher when it gets gross. The stainless steel blends with every decor and looks fine sitting on the counter, but easily fits under the sink when company is coming over.

We purchased this item to hold our kitchen scraps to compost. Works great! Size is perfect, easy to pickup with handle and the unit contains the smell. Also rinses clean easily once emptied. We even purchased one to use in our nursery for our son's dirty disposable diapers - again, no smell leaking out! (A little on the small side for that purpose but then the sooner the diapers are emptied, the better.)

It complements our stainless steel appliances. The size is perfect; we like to cook and usually we need to empty it only once every other day. It keeps odors under control without the need to use expensive filters. Easy to clean and great price.

I use this product to store our used coffee grounds for use in the garden. We love it because the size accomodates the amount of coffee grounds, it's stylish and fits perfectly under the sink with no smell. This pail would also be useful for other composting materials from the kitchen.
