Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

this thing was TOUGH to put together, it comes with rings that one has to thread thru the wires and twist to hold the sides together, if one has arthritic hands, FORGET IT, i needed pliers to pull those things thru.
but once it was assembled, it blends nice with the yard, and does hold quite a bit of grass clippings and leaves.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I tried to rig my own chicken wire thing, but it wasn't sturdy enough. I have a small urban garden, so multiple bins aren't possible. All my kitchen scraps go in there, and b/c there aren't many leaves in my neighborhood, the worms have colonized it -- even better, actually. I turn the stuff over gently every now and then and harvest the compost and castings.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I love the simplicity of this composter and have ended up buying three this year. I bought an earlier version years ago which I still use. The earlier design is easily and quickly assembled by threading a rod down through rings in the sides. The new design uses small springs which are too much of a struggle for me. I dispense with them altogether and use wire ties to hold the sides together.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

This is the second wire bin composter I've purchased. I loved the first one so much that I had to order another so that I can have two compost bins going at once. I do recommend ordering the cover to go with the bin as it helps keep smaller leaves inside the bin and gives the composter an overall neater appearance. However, I didn't put the cover on my first bin until I had filled it all the way up with layers of leaves and kitchen scraps. I am going to start a new compost pile in the new bin so that I will always have a bin to add to. My first bin, which was set up last spring and added to throughout the spring, summer and fall, is now full of nearly finished compost. I've started layering in leaves saved from the fall and kitchen scraps into the new bin. Now I kind of wish I had just bought the three bin system, but I'm new to gardening and didn't know how much I'd like composting when I purchased my original bin.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

This is the third wire bin composter I've bought. I needed another bin to get me through the winter. I was tempted to just put one together with chicken wire, but this bin is sturdier, more attractive and much easier to assemble and use. No muss, no fuss, and it's nice enough to keep close to the house. Aeration is not a problem, and odors can be avoided by keeping your greens and browns balanced. When it's time to turn the compost, I take the bin apart and set it up next to the pile, then fork everything back in.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

Our city canceled leaf pick up this year, so this will be our first year trying to compost. We wanted a simple solution, so we thought we'd try this. Easy to assemble. It was filled immediately so we've not found the need to secure it to ground - is stable. We placed the 3-bin unit directly over our raised bed garden (same dimensions), and we've filled all 3. Adding Super Hot - but temps are already in 30's. We'll see... I'll save the follow up review of Super Hot!

Pros:

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

Sturdy wire container for leaves. Wear gloves when assemblying, as it is difficult to pass the wire coils, which hold the container together, around the frame. Otherwise, very useful for holding leaves to add to composters. Reduces use of plastic bags, etc. for leaf storage.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

Easy to set up. I'm a little concerned about having to turn over the compost, but it shouldn't be too hard to remove the fronts. I'm loving having my compost contained rather than in an expanding pile. It's big, but I think we'll need a second one to deal with all our leaves.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

This is the third one I've bought! I love these composters! They are very simple to put together, that even a 5 year old could do it! They work pretty well, can store all my leaves, grass clippings, food scraps, etc.
The only con is that it's hard to turn the compost, but if you leave the coils off one side in front (so that it'll swing open like a door) then it's easier to do. You have to have a way to secure the door in the meantime though. I use a strong bendable wire tie or 3 to secure the "door". That way I can just untwist the ties and open the door to fork the compost out to turn.

Not worth the money!
By BobVerified Purchaser from Wyoming on 10/25/2010
Pros:
Capacity
Cons:
Flimsy, Needs Solution Added, Spiral connectors poor
Best Uses:
Coffee Grounds, Fruit Rinds, Leaves only
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

This wire composter is not heavy duty enough! The spiral connectors are impossible to get on without scraping all the paint/rubberized protection off of the wire. Thus, I have resorted to using it as a temporary fence to protect my garlic from being trampled/damaged by deer and connecting the panels together with plastic ties. The connector issue is problematic and needs to be addressed. I am sure there are other alternatives to connect these panels.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I have had this for about three years and love it. My only recommendation is to forget the use of the wire clips that come with the product to connect the bins together. I tried other solutions and finally arrived at using plastic cable ties to connect them. They work great, don't rust and can be easily cut off and retied.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

We have the 3-bin wire composter. It was extremely easy to set up and only took a few minutes to assemble. I have it placed in our backyard, and it is nearly invisible from both our house and our backyard neighbor's house. We use it for grass clippings and will use it for leaves this fall. There are a couple of drawbacks with the wire composter. First, some of the grass clippings tend to fall through the wire mesh, and I'm guessing smaller leaves will also filter through. The bulk of the material is contained, however . The other issue is that there is no easy way to access the composted material from below. As we have just begun using it, I haven't needed to figure out a way to do this. Overall, I'm happy with the wire bin system. It is a good way to contain lawn waste instead of the big, unsightly pile we had before. I feel that the positive attributes outweigh the drawbacks and I am pleased with my purchase.

Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I've had one of these for a few years and am about to buy another one to store more stuff as my garden has expanded.

The sharp coils for fastening are somewhat scary and make opening a side to turn the compost a chore. I've just had a thought, which is to use the plastic clothespins I use to attach tomato cages to one another to replace the wire coils.

I live in a high wind area, and have had no trouble with the bin and wind. I bought the extra wire cover for the top and never needed it and eventually threw that out. It has always been stable, even when critters pull out goodies like corn cobs. They can get to those through the edges where the sides join. They're welcome to them.

It's also a lot more attractive than the expensive plastic bins.

Aside from the wire coils (what were they thinking) this is a fine, inexpensive solution.

My friend and I both wanted to begin composting but weren't ready to spend a fortune. This composter was able to be attached to my chain link fence (I have a dogrun) to create 2 different bins and also formed together to make another bin for my friend who needed a lid. The spiral connectors weren't quick to use but they are durable and versatile. To experiment with the shape I wanted before using the spirals, I used twist ties. I have stopped setting my yard waste at the curb.

Good Basic Composter
By Julie BGVerified Purchaser from Beverly, MA on 6/14/2010
Pros:
Attractive, Capacity, Easy Assembly
Cons:
Difficult to Aerate
Best Uses:
Coffee Grounds, Fertilizer Production, Leaves & Brush
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

This is a great basic composter for someone who has a large volume of yard waste. (I got the three-bin set.) No bells and whistles, just an easy to set up system. You shouldn't put food scraps in it unless you have it well away from the house -- it is open to all sized rodents. Another tip -- I used the coils that come with the composter to set it up, but then removed them along one edge of each front section so that I can swing the front open like a gate. Otherwise, it would be very difficult for me to turn the pile and dig out finished compost.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

The product is very useful. I specifically purchased two of these bins to cover tree stumps while composting at the same time. With the leaves and garden materials placed inside the bin, the tree stumps are not visible. Serves a dual purpose. The wire connectors are difficult ot use and make assembly a nightmare. I had to purchase other materials to connect the panels. I am disappointed with this aspect of the bins.

Capacity, Odor Free
Cons:
Difficult to Aerate
Best Uses:

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

The only thing I didn't like about it was that the only way you can get into the compost pile easily is to leave some of the panels open. It hurts my back leaning over.

The bin is very sturdy and will last many years. With the color green you can't see it very easily.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I am so glad I got this. It looks great where I have it; the color green blends in nicely. It was easy to put together once I got the hang of the dealy-bobby thing.
I only have space for one of these, but if I were going to make any recommendations, I would recommend that someone buy at LEAST two, minimum; if not the three shown. I really wish I had room for a second one, but I don't.
The only other 'con' that I have is that the holes are a little big. So, when I'm stirring the mixture of leaves and grass clippings, it falls through the holes!

Spiral Connectors a VERY POOR IDEA

Very poor assembly

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I don't know who in Mexico (believe that is where this was made) came up with the idea of the spiral connectors, but they do NOT work well at all. After several tries, many deep breaths, I gave up with them and resorted to heavy duty floral wire...of course, this took me over an hour to put together, because I had to individually wired each section and then put them together. Basically, I paid for some wire panels. RE-THINK your assembly process please.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I have always wanted to have a compost bin. I hate the idea of throwing out kitchen scraps and putting leaves on the trash pile, but I didn't want an untidy pile in the corner of the yard. I was disheartened to find that most compost bins available for sale are very expensive. I could not afford to spend $200 on a bin. This bin was the only bin I found in my budget and I have not been disappointed with this low-cost solution. This bin is very easy to assemble, although I took the advice of other reviewers and did not use the metal corkscrew things to assemble the bin. I used those plastic cable tie things and they worked great. I also recommend getting the Extra Tall Earth Staples to really secure your bin to the ground. My bin is already about halfway full and I am planning to order a second bin soon. This bin really gives your compost a tidy appearance, without breaking the bank!

Although I've been gardening for a few years (about 5 or 6) this is the first time I am starting a "compost" bin. I'm actually just starting out with composting just shredded oak leaves to make leaf mold. Maybe if all goes well with that I may venture into doing more such as composting kitchen scraps, grass clippings, etc. But, for now this is a great start, and the wire bin was so easy to assemble and is just what I needed.

The springs that come with the product to hold the panels together are a pain to install. After doing 4 of 16 in about 20 minutes, I gave up and grabbed some nylon cable ties. Finished connecting the panels using the cable ties in about 2 minutes.

I am brand new at composting. Putting together the bin was easy, even for a woman. It has a large capacity. Since we don't have much wind and limited rain fall, I did not purchase a top for the bin.

Product should include wire anchors to keep in place on ground. I also bought the lid, but YOU CAN ONLY USE THE LID IF YOU PUT THE WIRE BINS TOGETHER tall. I wanted to connect the bins at the widest advantage and now I can't utilize this composter to hold things in a wider scope. The tallest combination makes it difficult to aeriate. I wish the sales person would have let me know that before I ordered. I would have not ordered the lid. There should be an option of sizes for a lid to fit either way.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I set this up behind my shed and it was really easy to do. When you first look at the instructions you get confused for a minute but once you start it all comes together. Its Ideal for big items for your compost such as leaves sticks, but I outlined mine with plastic and I put alot of various items in it now, coffee grounds, kitchen waste, leaves etc. Very nice thing to have, I also envy the idea how you can add on to it.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

Easy to put together after you get the hang of it. I thought the spring connectors were so simple to use. Put this together close to the area you want it to be. Not easy to move without a helper, I have the 3 bin unit. Blends right into the garden. I am going to need several more to handle the amount of waste I have but this would be great for the smaller gardener.

I bought 2 of these wire compost bins and some long stakes to hold it down which turned out to be unnecessary. The bins are low enough to turn the compost with a fork. They were easy to put together, I especially like that they will be easy to store. The color makes them disappear so they do not stand out.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

Bins are attractive, but relatively small, if you have a large yard with lots of trees. The spiral fasteners are a good idea on the back, but they need clips on the front so you can open it to turn the compost. I can't figure out how they thought people would be able to aerate with it.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

Very simple to assemble (big plus for me) and has a decent capacity. I use it for my extra yard clippings/leaves that I don't want to go into my tumbler and possibly overfill it. Don't love the design of the lid. I have to have two hands available to lift it, but I guess that's a plus for keeping critters out and the wind has not blown it off!

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

It's great for composting when you don't want to use a traditional barrel. For those who are little technically challenged, it will take a minute to figure out how to get the cork screw wires on, but once you do it goes together in a flash. It's price point it great, and it really does the job. I started with a good stack of sticks on the bottom, then added some leaves and grass. Now I just add my usual kitchen compost and as it matures I move it into another wire bin and start over fresh with the one I've emptied; easy, easy, easy.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

As we live in a suburban area and needed to have a critter-safe compost system, we started out with a compost tumbler. However, we soon realized that to maintain a good balance of browns and greens in the tumbler, it would be helpful to have a place to stockpile our extra "browns." So we bought this product to hold leaves, twigs, and other yard waste. So far, it's working out well!

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

Because of seasonal allergies, I hire out lawn mowing at our home. Our service bags and disposes of the grass clippings and leaves in the woods. Over the last few years it had become a mess back there. The new composting bins are the perfect way to get this area back into shape. I'm surprised at how quickly the mix of grass clippings and leaves compost to make a spreadable mix for both woods and garden areas.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I am new to composting so I thought I would try a low-cost composter. This one is easy to assemble and holds a lot of brush/compost material (I add everything to it -- coffee grinds, fruit rinds, straw, grass, weeds, etc). I am bummed that I only got the one, however, because it is hard to turn and I would like the option of moving some of the top matter out into another container. I have it at the back of my yard and it is not attractive, but also not too unsightly -- it blends with the trees so you don't see it too much.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

The product is sastisfactory for my needs, however, the curly wires that are used to hold the product are not very easy to use, and they come off and roll down the grids as the year moves on - I have one I purchased last year also. This year I bought some of the popular new plastic ties in green (from the Christmas counter on sale) and used them on the new one, and reinforced my older bin. You really need to rethink that part. The price is a bit high. I guess after rethinking - I could have made one with wire from the supply store.

I really needed to get myself an airater before, now it is a must. I can turn my bins unless I take them part, which mess lots of twisting of the springs. The springs/coils are a great idea, it is just all the turning. At least they turn very easily. But the bins are great for some one who may be more patient than me. I am a hot pile composter, always in a rush. If you are like me, buy another bin. I was just think today that I should buy a single bin to go with my three bin system, then I will have an empty to turn my piles on a regular schedule.

Very good simple product. Blends into landscape while containing the pile. Using more as a slow-cooking pile than for fast compost. Generous in capacity-plenty of air circulation-good solution for my little yard and for teaching my kids that every little bit helps. Fun to watch the pile become what nature intended. Won't be the easiest to aerate, but I'm intending on nature doing most of the work.

This product serves its purpose. A single unit could topple if not placed on stable ground. Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

These bins are so easy to put up/ take down that I've used them for composting demos, temporary fencing around seedlings, and "puppy control" while I work in the yard.

Having extra bins allows me to compost materials that take a very long time to break down, without slowing down my ongoing compost production.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I found the spiral fasteners to be difficult to put on the center supports, where 3 edges met, rather than the corners where there were only 2. I used zip ties instead. I am very impressed with the capacity for making compost. We have a tremendous amount of leaves and are taking in relatives as well!

Simple compost bin for anyone who is a "lazy" composter. I have two -- one for leaves from yard and one for kitchen scraps. I add kitchen scraps to one and cover with leaves from the other - no smell. In about one season you have compost. Couldn't get much easier than that! This bin is also very simple to assemble.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I recently installed mine, it hasn't had enough time to fully compost the material yet but so far most of the chipped leaves have stayed in the bin with very few falling through the wires. It installed easily, but be sure to buy the LONG (I bought 11 inch)earth stakes if you live in a windy area.

Bottom Line:

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I got the three bins and I love it. I can mix new material in one, store leaves to be used later in another, and wait for finished compost in the other. I use black plastic around the whole thing to keep the heat in, and over the bin that is cooking. I put holes in the top for a little moisture in the mix.

I found the spiral connectors clever but hard to use and time-consuming. I use plastic cable ties instead. Then when a bin is finished, I clip the ties on one side and open it like a door for easy access. I also lined the whole thing with chicken wire because the holes were so big, leaves were constantly falling out.

this is by far the simplest and most efficient composter I have used.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I want to make biointensive compost, which involves layering green material, dried material, and soil. I make a double bin by combining two of the bins into a rectangle. I've been using garden twine to fasten some of the corners, but will try the suggestions of other reviewers. I have 9 bins in my set, in a U shape. When I remove sod to begin a new bed, I layer the pieces in a bin to age until I am ready to use the sod soil.

Best Uses:
Ecological Waste Disposal, Kitchen Scraps, Leaves & Brush
Describe Yourself:

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

This was my first composter at all. I am composting leaves and grass scraps. It looks like it is working. It is easy to assemble. I didn't use supplied spring shape fastenings, instead 7" long plastic cable ties. It was quick and problems. However, it was necessary to use some ground support to keep it place.I have used few wood stakes (1"x1" 12 "length) on corners to stabilize the composter. For quick composting, using a black(or dark colored) plastics sheet might be helpful. After few days I could observe heat development in compost.
I definitely recommend it for beginners. Abi

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I like a lot of things about these compost bins: they are lightweight, you can sometimes lift them right off your compost for easy shoveling or turning. You can set them up wherever you want easily. You can orient them either tall or wide. They fold down flat for storage if you ever wanted to store them. If you move from house to house, you can easily take them with you. I have 2 myself, and got 2 for my brother for Xmas. I found something similar locally, but it was twice as expensive.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

This is the 2nd wire bin composter I've gotten from you and they work very well. I'm inundated with leaves so I grind them up with my lawnmower and fill both wire bin composters [in the process adding several layers of soil and Bio-Dynamic composting solutions. By May 60% has broken down and I combine both wire bin contents to a third bin for further composting and store the wire bins in my garage. Neat and tidy but very functional. I also have one of your electric garden chippers. Great for the many twigs and fall garden refuge but not as efficient for leaves as my lawnmower...everything else, twigs, tomato plants, hickory nuts, bark, etc. grinds up nicely for mulch on my garden path.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I have used and loved two wire composters for many years to compost my plentiful fall leaves. When I decided to add a third, I expected the same design with long stakes that held the panels together at the corners. Instead there are funky coils of sharp steel that cut my hands, scratched the finish off the bin and cannot be put in the middle spot. If not for a mountain of leaves, I would have sent it back. It is so disappointing.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

Gone are the days of dragging 25 bags of leaves to the curb for the city to haul away. THEN driving in the spring with shovel and bags to pick up the "black gold" compost (mostly shredded leaves) the city made available for free to residents. Something's wrong with this picture...right? Now I shred my leaves (and my neighbors') pile them up and spread them out in the spring for my oh so happy plants. These bins look good in the yard, much better than chicken wire, and they're fairly easy to assemble. I ordered the set of 3, which attach to one another. I think next time, I would assemble at least one side with strong plastic ties rather than the included "springs". Then you could just unfasten the tie and hinge open to access. If you're using only one, it's no big deal—just lift it up. But with 3 attached that's impossible. Definitely recommend these!

These grids have many uses in the garden in addition to composting. I connect them with biodegradable string. I use mine inside 3 x 3 raised grow beds to keep out squirrels, deer and cats. In the winter the lids keep out falling leaves. They can easily be covered with protective cloth to keep out cold and heavy snow. They add extra support to your green mesh tents during high winds. I harvest winter vegetables until February in Virginia.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

Through two seasons of use, my wire bins have been durable and they blend into the setting. Our seasons have been so cool that I won't try to judge the rate of composting action.

My only complaint is that that the wire coils that join the panels slowly work downward during the season, and the panels pull apart. The coils must be adjusted periodically.

I've found a great secondary use for the panels: as moose and rabbit protection for raised beds. I fasten the panels to bamboo or metal stakes, and leave some panels attached only by the wire coils, which serve as hinges so that I can swing those panels open for tending the plants.

The unit was very easy to put together; but, I took the advice of one of the other reviewers and used tie-wraps to secure the front panels. The tie-wraps will make it much easier when it comes time to open the front of the bins to turn the compost from one bin to the next, or to remove finished compost. I am using the bin to compost leaves and garden waste. I have only started using the system so I can't report on it's compost ability.

I put this together in less than 1/2 hour by myself. I purchased the three bin system with lids. I have to say that I was concerned about the spiral connectors, but they are super easy once you get the hang of it. I am actually looking forward to leaves this year.

Purchased 3-bin because saw luscious compost at friend's home; easy to add, turn, use; need adequate storage space for 3; flexible: can assemble 36" tall/square, or rectangular (easier to get to bottom of compost); makes lots of compost, using extra bin for large quantity storage, like leaves that can be added regularly.

Cons:
Manufacturing of Bins, Putting it together
Best Uses:
Fruit Rinds, Leaves & Brush
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

If you want the largest amount of composte, set the bins up horizontally. If you do though, you can't use the wire bin lids. By setting vertically, you can use the lids but you get less volume and turning the composte is toughter since you have a deeper pile.

The spirals to hold the system together are OK but when you are trying to attached 3 panels together, you have to line everything up perfectly to get them on. Even then you end up scratching the coating off and only time will tell what that might do. If you use the lids, use twist ties instead of the spirals to open and close, much easier that way.

Lastly, the product isn't well manufactured. I was leaning agains one side to reach over the bins and I snapped a rail. I am not a large person and I thought it should stand up better than that.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

We had created our own bins from temporary fencing from the home improvement store, but they kept falling down, it was hard to move the compost around, and you couldn't easily get the compost out! These are great! The spring hinges are wonderful and allow you to open an entire side of the bin (easy access) without compromising the structure of the remaining bins. Love this product.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I am a careless composter. I do not aereate, I simply throw our yard and garden waste in to the composter, and I just let things ferment where they fall. This type of bin is perfect for me, it is now receiving all the new waste, and I am now using all the composted waste from the old bin.

The new bin was easy to put together, is well-made and I believe it will last for many years.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

This is my first compost pit. I didn't want anything complicated, and this is as easy as it gets. I just throw all my kitchen and garden scraps and leave it. I thought it would fill up, but I've been using it all summer and it's only about a quarter full. It's easy to conceal behind some shrubs, and has zero smell. If you're looking for something super easy to deal with, this is definitely it. I'm not sure what the mulch will turn out like in the end, but even if it's only ok and I've kept all of this waste out of a landfill, I'll be satisfied.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

The wire grid frames are light, strong, rust and corrosion resistant, and easily attachable in a variety of configurations for any use.

We use them as an easily adjusted barrier (1) to keep the dogs from going into the pool when not invited to do so, and (2) to keep our pool dogs from romping into the house when sopping wet. Works like a charm.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I needed something that could share the backyard with my dogs and keep them out. This was easy to set up. It looks fine in a corner of the backyard. I have trouble turning the pile, but that may just be my short (5'2") stature and being new at it. The clips that hold the corners together tend to work there way down and need to be re-adjusted occasionally. I enjoy having compost to put in my veggie garden. It has improved my clay soil.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

Works very well to store leaves and "browns" for mixing with "green" stuff. I put a piece of cardboard over the top to keep browns dry.
Works well for composting large quantities and you can keep adding. To use your final compost, just lift it up and it's all laying on the ground.

By Iris loverVerified Purchaser from Raleigh, NC on 7/9/2008
Pros:
Capacity, Easy Assembly, Husband uses it
Best Uses:
Grass clippings, Leaves & Brush
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

We use the wire bin composter primarily for grass clippings when my husband uses the collector bags for the riding mower. It's easy for him to empty the collector bags into the bins, so he's not reluctant to do so. It is not easy to turn the compost, but it seems to be breaking down with the addition of some compost Energizer.

By KateVerified Purchaser from Bozeman, MT on 7/9/2008
Pros:
Capacity, Easy Assembly
Cons:
Difficult to Aerate
Best Uses:
Leaves & Brush
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I purchase the trio (and then another). I don't bother aerating, and I put my bins where I'm going to want my future compost to be, enabling me to disassemble the bin and spread in place. This year, the partially digested contents of my row of six bins formed the foundation of a perennial berm. But for that reason, I suggest users forgo the wire spirals and use plastic zip ties instead. The stress of a full bin makes it impossible to remove the spirals without a reciprocating saw! For a lazy composter like me, these bins are a great choice.

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I've had a compost "pile" for years, but needed a more attractive place to keep it without spending a fortune. So far this has been great. I bought an aerator to go with it and it's just what I needed. Leaves etc. are contained, and I can mix it without raking it back into a pile afterwards. I'm in no hurry for compost and will buy another of these if I continue to fill it at the rate I have this summer!

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I've tried homemade wire compost bins in various configurations using chicken wire or old fencing but the wire always rusted and sagged and my garden fork tines caught in the openings. In my new vegetable garden the compost bins were going to be visible next to the garden shed and I needed something that looked neat while being functional. These were easy to set up, look great, and are just the right size for the amount of materials I have to compost (except for early spring and fall cleanup when I have considerably more materials. I love using them!

Comments about Wire Bin Composter:

I have 4 of these bins. The spiral "winders" used to hold the sides together are a pain to use. I am now using medium binder clips to hold the bins together. That way, I can remove the front panel easily and turn the compost pile. This system would be perfect if there was a better (easier) way to disassemble the bins.
