Very impressive appearance - being used with Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa). Expect that it will support the plant as it continues to grow. Last year it reached a height of four feet and the stalks are quite sturdy.

I am very impressed about the thickness and sturdyness of the metal support and ease of assembly. My only complaint is that the size I ordered (2 smaller)were a bit smaller than I expected. The next size, which to me is more practible for my peonies, is too pricey. This solved a problem I had for years. My peonys would fall over and were hard to trellis. I ordered these (both sizes)early and arranged them on all my peonys. The supports are barely visible and my plants are now ready to bloom.

I've tried many wire cages to support my peonies but was never happy because the plants would always fall over anyway. I ordered this product because it was an attractive cage and thought it might work. When I received it, I was dismayed at how tall it was. But I put it around my peonies anyway and am now amazed at how tall my peonies are. They're standing straight and tall and beautiful. People comment that they've never seen peonies so big. I love it when I buy something that exceeds my expectations!

These are perfect for my peonies in the spring. In the fall, I bring them inside and put them in the indoor planters of the bulbs wintering inside in the basement. By February my Calla Lilies are tall enough that they need support but cannot go outside until May
and begin to flop over without support. By the time the Calla's have strengthened, I put the planter rings back outside on to the spring Peonies again.

This is a very nicely shaped and sturdy support. The design could be improved and I notice that others have mentioned that it is difficult to put together. It relies on tension to stay in place. I would have MUCH preferred some set screws.

As it was I ended up putting in the poles partway one at a time and placing the lower ring on. Eventually I got them all in the ground. The legs EASILY slip off if they are not in the ground. A second person would certainly help the process.

Luckily my ground was soft and so this was a workable solution. If you have hard packed soil, I suggest watering very well before placement. It LOOKS very nice, however and I suspect it will do a good job. I will most likely leave it outdoors during the winter. Easier on me :D.

The good news: These things are attractive enough that they look good even before the plants are tall enough to need them. (For best-looking results with the large size, leave off the top ring until it's needed.) I have a tight grouping of three of them--one large and two mediums, with one of the mediums pushed in deeper than the other so the overall effect is of three sizes--and it looks like an airy sculpture. The bad news: Assembling the large one is annoyingly difficult and is best done with two people. The vertical supports slide into their places on the lower ring easily enough, but then they slide out of place just as easily as you attempt to get the assemblage deep enough into the ground. It takes a while.

I have some massively large peonies. In the past I have used all sorts of supports and have even fashioned my own. However, each year my lovely peonies would still fall. This past summer I purchased two of these large supports & what a difference! My peonies still did fall a little, but it was far better than any previous year & I was able to enjoy more flowers for a longer period of time.
They do require some patience to assemble as once you get one support leg in, another will fall out. After assembling them a few times, it's not as tedious.

I have ordered several sizes and find they all work so well. I leave them standing outside during the winter and they look almost sculptural with snow on them. I have used cages in the past to help hold up my Peonies.
The cages are usually very hard to handle and with use they bend. These seem as if that will never be the case. I look forward to using these for many years to come.

I have these stakes around some tall flowers - have positioned the flowers and stakes so 2 stakes can support 3 plants. They are attractive and work great. The hardest part is getting all 3 legs attached to the rings at the same time. Once that is done they go in the ground and work great.

I agree with the person who said it needs click-lock mechanisms to hold the parts together.

These plant supports are the sturdiest supports I have ever come across!!! I have black eyed susan's that grow to 6ft that have very large stems. No other supports have been able to support them as effectively as these have. And they don't bend easily when putting them in the ground like others do! I also use them for tall decorative grass as they start to spreadout and droop late in the summer. I only wish they had a choice that was also taller to get some support higher up in the stem.

The large support is very sturdy and is great for plants that get heavy and flop over (I use mine for taller Dahlias). It can be a bit tricky to assemble unless you have more than 2 hands (I had trouble with one of the two I purchased). It may require help from another person to help keep the legs from falling while putting it together. Once it's stuck in the ground, it stays put well.

It was a bit complicated to get started putting these together as when I put the first ring on then went to get the second ring it would fall apart. But once I figured out the best way to assemble them, it was a breeze. I love the way these look in my garden.

I purchased these for my catmint and peonies. They were a little awkward to assemble, and when I tried to push them in the ground the rings popped loose and had to be reattached to the poles. The ground was a little hard, so that may have been part of the cause, but it was a bit awkward to get them in. However, once in they look great, and I'm hoping the plants like them too once they're tall enough to actually use them.

Useful for very tall plants that tend to bend down. Great in wet climates. Strong and supportive all around the plant, not just on one side. Very easy to put together, take apart, and store.

I use both sizes for my peonies and other flowers that need support. Assembling can be a bit tricky, but I've found that zip ties (aka cable ties) make the task easier. First I assemble the lower ring and legs and use cable ties to hold these parts firmly but not tightly together, then I attach the upper ring and put cable ties around the intersections of the upright legs and upper rings. Lastly, I tighten all the cable ties, very tight and trim off the excess cable tie. Now they are ready to carry to any planting site. I plan to leave them in the ground all winter, to keep the deer from treading on the plants. I don't have any negative comments, although I wonder if there may be lead in the protective paint. Maybe someone knows the answer?

I've had problems in the past keeping my dahlias upright and I would sometimes damage other stems when cutting the flowers. I bought my large plant support this spring and it worked perfectly keeping the flowers upright and supported. I was so impressed with the product that I have recently purchased 2 more to use next year for my hibiscus.

I haven't actually installed them yet since I'm waiting till it's time to cut down my peonies for the year to put the Essex support in place. I am anticipating this will do a much better job than the grid supports I've used in the past. Looking forward to next Spring!

Bought two of the large supports for Blue Indigo which grows to about 40-48". The indigo gets top heavy and this support worked beautifully. I've already ordered two more to have on hand next spring

I love the large design of this plant support, but the smaller one is not as effective. The smaller plants just lay over the side....all to one or the other side. Smaller support really needs dividers, maybe next year I'll buy some round dividers to lay over the tops as I do like the design of the legs and how easy they are to put together.

These are the best quality plant supports I've found. They're VERY sturdy, and work beautifully. They're perfect for Calla Lillies and Delphiniums. I use them in my herb garden for Chives and my Oregano, which without these supports spreads out too far and covers everything else. Do not hesitate to buy these. You can't go wrong.

Granted, I ws trying to fit it around an existing plant in July, but it was extremely awkward trying to place the support in the rocky ground of my New England garden. One of the pegs that holds the ring to the vertical supports broke right off. So it looks sturdy, but it isn't. And the looks are very Victorian. I would prefer a support that blends in better with the plant.

I purchased two large essex supports on two separate occasions. They are fabulous for my peonies and look terrific. I've received many compliments. However, on one occasion one leg was missing, the second time one ring was damaged. I would love to order more, but am concerned about quality control.

This is an attractive support that is easy to install even if you've let the plants get a bit big. You'll want to take it in at the end of the season however as I suspect it will rust if out through the winter.

These plant supports were just the thing for my large Peony plants. Every year I try a new solution and nothing has worked out this well. I purchased both the large and small sizes and both have been really great in the flower garden. They're virtually invisible once the plants grow larger, but they help the plants hold thier shape and help keep the flowers up. Usually the stems bend due to the large heavy flowers, but this year my peony plants looked gorgeous. Visitors have come by and asked me for the website.

In June 2006 moved to a small town and brought some of my plants with me. I used these around two lillies and they have really out done themselves.
They blend in with the foliage and add a nice shape to the plants. It gets very windy here and this has diffently help protect the lillies.
