Comments about Garden Labeler:

the only problem so far is that it wastes too much tape in the lead. You cut off over an inch for each label.

Comments about Garden Labeler:

This has been a life saver! The printing no longer rubs off due to the weather! I expect these labels to hold up much better than simply writing directly on my markers; and the print is easy to read from afar for garden clubbers visiting my gardens. The tape is easy to come by at any big box store selling office supplies.

Comments about Garden Labeler:

I just got mine and have labelled most of my outside plants. I've been looking for a tool for this purpose for sometime. I've tried various pens to write labels, they don't last outside. Time will tell, but I think this product will meet my standard for durability.

Like it a lot, but would change a thing
By luckyladydVerified Purchaser from Lawrenceville, NJ on 1/19/2010
Pros:
Attractive Design, Durable, Easy to Store, Effective, Simple To Use
Cons:
Can't adjust tape ends, Tape is expensive
Best Uses:
Containers, Flower Gardens, Landscaping, Vegetable Gardens
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Garden Labeler:

My only peeve with this unit is that you can't adjust the amount of tape you waste at the ends. I tried stringing words together and cutting the tape manually, so as to not waste 'leader' space, but you can type only 15 letters or spaces before it refuses to hold any more and you must print. I haven't used it on my outdoor labels yet, as I just received it, but other gardeners tell me the labels last for years without fading. That's its claim to fame. Hope it's true. I've made mad amounts of labels for outside.

I need it to ID the plants in gardens used for teaching and home use. The directions are not easy, Do as instructed and it does not work, have to fiddle with it to get the results needed. It could very well be just me.

OK but not great
By Salvia from Sacramento, ca on 10/9/2009
Pros:
Durable, Easy to Store, Simple To Use
Cons:
Poor Design
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Garden Labeler:

This labeler works well enough. It is reasonably simple to use and makes the labels. However, it has two shortcomings: 1) The display screen technology is over 30 years out of date--the "print preview" function does not really preview what you're going to get on the final print out. 2) You can't italicize one line and not the other, a common need among gardeners printing Latin and common names.
Given the price of this printer, next time I would search for another with a better screen display.

By ler from arlington, va on 4/19/2009
Pros:
Durable, Effective, Versatile
Cons:
Difficult To Use
Best Uses:
Containers, Flower Gardens, Vegetable Gardens
Describe Yourself:
Master Gardener
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Garden Labeler:

I've used this to label plants in demonstration gardens as well as in schoolyard habitats. The labels stand up to the elements and adhere well to metal markers so long as the markers are clean when the labels are attached. (For reused markers, wipe off garden dirt.) It's also helpful to make the labels long enough so that they adhere end to end. Keep the directions/instructions handy. Beyond the more basic functions, most of us need to make reference to the "how-to" list. I'm quite satisfied with this product and have recommended it to fellow master gardeners.

Not user friendly
By Mary quite contraryVerified Purchaser from Lake George, NY on 1/16/2009
Describe Yourself:
Master Gardener

Comments about Garden Labeler:

The enclosed product instructions are not clear for the most basic print setups and the potential questions that arise. Meanwhile, it wastes lots of expensive tape until you figure things out.

The resulting labels, though, are easily readable, and that is the whole point afterall.

Garden Labeler
By KatharineVerified Purchaser from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania on 12/30/2008
Pros:
Attractive Design, Durable
Cons:
Difficult To Use, Ineffective
Best Uses:
Flower Gardens, Landscaping, Vegetable Gardens
Describe Yourself:
Master Gardener
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Garden Labeler:

The labeler is so complex that it is not user friendly. The instructions are unclear, and I am not sure if I will be able to use it. I spent two very frustrating hours working with it. It brings to mind the saying "watch out what you wish for because you might get it" That applies to this labeler since it was a gift from my husband.
