When Native Americans sowed their crops, they didn’t use tractors or plows. To keep valuable seed from blowing away or being eaten by birds, they often hid it inside little balls of clay. The same method works well today: just scatter these seed balls on prepared soil and water well. Made by a company that employs persons with disabilities.

I used the seed balls as part of a class project for my middle school students. They thought the seed balls were "cool". The seeds have begun sprouting and the students are waiting impatiently to see what types of flowers will appear.
Comments about Flower Seed Balls:
It's too early to plant but I am looking forward to planting these little balls. They look amazing! It would make a nice gift too.

Comments about Flower Seed Balls:
I'm excited to try these wildflower seeds in the spring. I ordered some as Christmas gifts and some for myself after reading the good reviews from other users. I was a little surprised at the small size (both bags and seed pods) when they arrived, but the little burlap bags are attractive and were met with good receptions from my friends. The pods will be very easy to "plant" in the spring, and I'm hopeful they will produce beautiful flowers.

Comments about Flower Seed Balls:
These seed balls are a very unique and interesting gift.
Nothing is worse than giving things to gardeners that they either won't liek , already have or won't use.
Almsot everyone has a corner or propertyline that can use some wildflowers, and these seed balls are perfect for the kids, not so avid gardeners and above all they are a great gift idea!
The size of the seed balls is the size of a grape, not huge, but they shouldn't be, they should be scattered about.
My packages contained 12 seed balls in each of the wildflower and butterfly seed mixes.
That's a very nice present to give someone, and I bet they never got that before, and they certainly can use it.
No yard? No problem!
drop a seed ball in a pot and place in teh sun, on the deck, windowsill or on the front steps, back steps, rooftop, fire escape(common sense says dn't block the escape!), window edge, wherever!
I think these are a lovely gift to bring to anyone that loves flowers and especially nice if theyhave a yard and have wildflowers already, the seed ball is something not many people will have seen.
I am giving them as Christmas presents so no idea how they growor will grow, but wildflowers and the seeds listed are very hardy and will grow almost anywhere, and don't forget they will self seed, so the three year rule is ..Stall-Crawl-Sprawl,

Comments about Flower Seed Balls:
my grandchildren had a great time with these. all they had to do was put or throw these balls where ever they wanted in the garden area and water them. in a short period of time plants started to grow. it was fun each time they visited to see "their"garden and be surprised by what was there.

Comments about Flower Seed Balls:
Wow!! Absolutely was amazed at the beautiful array of flowers that have blossomed; blues, purple, orange, yellow, pink. Didn't plant them til June, and was a little reluctant cause by the end of June very little greener was showing and then come July really sprouted, flowers started popping in August and still have multiple colors and blossoms still growing here at the end of Sept. Curious if they are perenials or not, regardless I plan on buying more. Have taken lots of pictures and will try at a later date to add them to another review. One last comment how petty of you folks that complained about the size of the bag. I have found multiple uses for it. Plant them first before you make a fuzz over a bag.

Comments about Flower Seed Balls:
Dear Gardeners - I always enjoy your products and
catalogs. I like the seed balls I ordered for a business colleague. However I was very surprised that the bags were so small. I think your catalog shows them as big, old burlap bags! Not a major problem, just a jolt when they arrived.
Happy New Year to all "gardeners" in 2010

No struggle in spacing or scattering.
Easy to plant.
Comments about Flower Seed Balls:
There is a fenced in vacant lot next door to my daughters back deck - your "seed balls" ensure that springtime will give them a view of flowers instead of only unmowed grass and weeds.

Comments about Flower Seed Balls:
I tried the Wildflowers last year and they were suprisingly easy! Follow the easy instructions [place balls on top of soil and keep moist]and soon enough the seeds sprout. We had a hard, heavy rain a couple weeks after planting that obliterated the balls. But that actually helped them grow faster. When mature they continued to bloom through the summer and all the way to the first hard freeze! They get tall so you'll have to tie them upright or they'll fall over.
They make a great gift for any gardener. I put them in a raised bed next to the vegetable garden and they attracted bees (which are very beneficial to pollination) and butterflies.

Comments about Flower Seed Balls:
I purchased these seed balls as favors for my daughter's baby shower, which will be on February 28. We are going to wrap them individually, with a fused glass flower that I made, and ask the guests to plant their seed ball when the baby is born. The baby is a boy, so blue forget-me-nots seem like the perfect reminder for family & friends.

Comments about Flower Seed Balls:
It is the middle of winter and there is at least 3 ft of snow where I want to plant my forget me not seed balls. I can still dream...
There is a special reason that I ordered this product the minute I saw it in your catalog, however. 2 years ago, I had a grandaughter who was stillborn. It was heartbreaking, to say the least. Each year, on her birthday (March 28th) we gather at her grave and sing and share a champagne toast and drink to remember the tiny baby girl that never first-hand felt our love. This year, instead of leaving shells, or sea stones, we will plant the seed balls, and all summer long we will enjoy seeing the little bright blue flowers that will remind us of the color of her eyes. This year her little 1 year old sister will be with us and she will be able to plant a seed ball, where before, the forget me not seeds would have been too tiny for her to hold. Thanks for making this memory a possibility for us this year. Maybe on March 28th I should send a picture of the ceremony!

I purchased both sets of seed balls and devided them up to give to friends. I marked the balls with a marker to let them know which were which. I was able to give 5 to 6 seed balls to several friends for added Christmas gifts. Can't wait to see who gets the best flowers!!!

Comments about Flower Seed Balls:
I picked 2 of these sacks up for friends for the holidays and was shocked at how tiny the bags are.I suppose I could have read the fine print about the size of them, but somehow I got the idea that these would be about the size of a baseball, when in fact they are about the size of a gum-ball.A penny would have been helpful to put the size of the bag (in the photo) into some perspective. On the plus side, the little bags make great coin purses or cell phone/camera bags!IMHO [$] is a bit steep for what you get here. I'd think that [$] would be a more than appropriate price.

I love the idea and it made a wonderful gift for a gardener friend, but it was much smaller than I thought it would be. A couple more seed balls for the price would have been perfect.

I had read about seed balls in my local newspaper and checked with this website to see if you had them. I bought some for myself and for my sister who lives in a different growiing zone and neither one of us had any luck. I wasnt sure whether we were using them correctly but I would have thought one of us would have had some luck.
