I was really excited for this netting, and the picture shows nice square netting, but when I opened the package and started to put it up the netting wouldn't come out square, but would be diagonal. After about an hour I figured out howbto cut out a piece maybe five feet wide which would hang square and nice but then I had to tie all the pieces together - what a pain. Forget getting 6 x 30 after cutting everything up I got a bit over 20 linear feet - i'm sure the left over scraps add up to 30 feet, but using them would mean my strings would run diagonal, and would look terrible. I think its probably easier to just run strings myself. Bummer since the idea seems so great. :-(

[...], we found it very difficult to handle. We purchased it to use as trellis netting for snap peas, but ended up totally frustrated with its design for this purpose. Ended up throwing it away and relying on our tried and true method of using gardening twine to form the lattice. I would not recommend this product to anyone planning to use for trellis netting.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
Simple instructions and a full photo would make all the difference in succeeding with this product. After trying twice to hang the netting on my pea fence, I spread it on the lawn to see how it worked, then tried three more configurations until finally I got it on -- and it looks quite good after all that. I've tried lots of types of netting and my favorite is the simple string netting GSC used to carry, in horizontal squares instead of these unruly diamonds.

Looks natural in the garden

I like to use products that dont add to landfills!
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
So far it does just what it says it should. And you get a good sized piece for the money.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
We had to lay the netting on the lawn and tied pieces of brightly colored yarn to what we finally determined to be the top. It wasn't a straight line. The picture in the catalogue shows "squares" and we have "diamonds". Our area is 16' long with 5 poles for peas and pole beans. We strung clothesline across the top to which we tied the netting + colored yarn to make it work.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
Was easy to install until we came across a segment where one third of the netting was twisted - it was tied in that way so we had to cut it and try to retie the section. Will probably purchase again, however, because the concept is so good.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
I bought this last fall to make it easier to set up my bean fences. I had been using twine wrapped around a top and bottom bamboo crosspiece on upright bamboo poles, and this looked as though it would be simpler and also cover more area. When we took it out of the box, though, there was no clear top or bottom; instead the six-inch squares seemed to be set up on some sort of bias. As a result it was almost impossible to affix the fencing neatly to my crosspieces. There was a lot left over on the sides because it wasn't square, and that looked messy. The section that we cut off for the second row of fencing was uneven and we ended up having to patch huge gaps with twine. This was really not what I expected.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
Great product, but make sure you have plenty of room to lay it out first.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
This netting looks beautiful in our raised bed garden strung between two birch branches for our pea sproutings to climb. Eco friendly, price friendly, and beautiful to look at! What more could you ask for?
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
It's hard to keep tight. It's just not ideal for small raised beds. Part of out problem is we didn't do our research so well. so I gave it a 2nd star in light of that
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
Really hard to open. Had no instructions. Didn't fit the trellis I purchased. Unraveled when cut.
Loops all around 2 sides of XTRA large wad of already knotted twine which unravelled when I tried to cut to size. Would NOT buy again. Only good thing is that's it's biodegradable. It's much easier to purchase a ROLL of biodegradable twine and weave the trellis till you come to the end and tie it off. This took hours and is still not tight. Had to use power stapler to keep down at the edge of my raised beds.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
I attached this netting to my trellis so that my clematis would be able to climb(I didn't realize that clematis stems are so thin and fragile). They seem to be holding on to the netting so this was a good buy.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
I hung this netting in my greenhouse for my pole beans to climb. It looks nice and after the season is over I'll throw the entire mess in my compost pile.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
I like the idea of a raw natural product. I had some nylon netting that I used for about 10 yrs. I hope to get at least two seasons from this. The way this is packaged makes it extremely hard to use without spreading out the whole 60', which is an unreasonable size to deal with. It would be better if you could cut off the length you need and just spread it out.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
My husband and I stretched the netting on a A-frame (which we also purchased at Gardener's Supply) and planted gourds down the line. The gourd vines loved attaching to the netting and grew up and over. It worked perfectly. When the season was over we were able to throw it in the compost bin. It worked like a charm.

I have tried all kinds of different ways of staking vegetables---from trellises, cages, stakes, string, etc. This netting works for all kinds of vegetables and you don't have to worry if you don't get it all out of the garden since it will just become more compost!

Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
I grow vegetables for the animals at the Los Angeles Zoo. These vegetables are added treats to enrich the animals.
The netting is a two person job to put up but it is natural and safe. Its worth the time to figure out how to cut it. First lay it out so it is square, then cut to size. This is the only site that sells this product and its worth using.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
The netting ideally will help maximize growing space in my small town house garden. Will have to see how it works next year. It seemed to be a good price and thus a reasonable gamble.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
For good for getting the plants a climbing place and not on the ground

Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
You'd think whoever makes this wonderful stuff could come up with a way to put it on a roll, or at least mark the end with colored string. Once it's up, it's a great pea and cucumber trellis (though one with smaller squares would be nice, too), and disposing into the compost heap is a dream, but setting it up is a nightmare: a task that ought to take maybe twelve minutes takes an hour and a half and a lot of blue language. If you're ready for that part of it, it's fine stuff.

Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
We've purchased several of these self-watering pots. They're attractive, durable and work very well.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
i wrapped it around several brick piers about 4 ft tall and the clematis really flew up it!
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
looks great in the grden and the peas love it
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
really confusing to set up because of construction
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
This is a great idea for the vegetable garden, and looks attractive when draped over poles for peas and beans to climb on. I like the idea that you can just throw it away at the end of the season and it's biodegradable. It's a little difficult to install, though, and got tangled a few times. It would also be good if it came with some kind of pins to anchor it into the ground.

Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
I was thinking of ordering this for pole beans. However, I was wondering if the 6-inch square openings might be too large. (4"x4" would be better.) And I was also wondering if the biodegradable jute would be strong enough to take the weight all summer long... guess not...
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
Although this seemed to have been back-ordered FOREVER, I'm glad I stuck with it. It will be used for pole beans and other strong climbers. I like the idea of its being biodegradable.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
I live in the Northeast and while the netting most certainly does it's job, and the peas and beans love "climbing" it, one windstorm and that was that...the netting, while solid at the outset, "wimped out." I think it would fare VERY well in a calmer climate.

Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
This product is HUGE... we had no idea how much netting there was, it's a LOT - enough for next season too!

Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
This a generously sized, well-made netting that I use with the A-frame support. My vegetable plants are entwined through this and are doing nicely.
Comments about Biodegradable Netting:
I had a very hard time installing this product. also, i was never able to properly install it and it is working ineffectively.
