This is the easiest-to-use edger we've seen. Simply "walk" it along your border; the blade and your foot power do the work, saving your back, shoulders and wrists. It has a comfortable foam grip, a window in the blade for perfect positioning, and a unique double-sided blade; flip it over and use the scraper to clean away debris.

Comments about Steppin' Edger:
This is a great tool for anyone, but particularly for arthritis sufferers. It makes a previously long and tedious job so quick and easy. I have a friend who helps me with yardwork and he loved it, too. Said he wished he'd had something like this twenty years ago when he had a landscaping business of his own.
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
I last tried edging a garden bed around 15 years ago, and the experience was so frustrating that I hadn't tried since. The Steppin' Edger, combined with Gardeners Supply's pound-in edging, reinvents the task and makes it quick and easy, even in Pennsylvania clay. Now I'm edging everything in sight!

Comments about Steppin' Edger:
I've never been happy with any of the string-edgers or other manual edgers I'd purchased and was investigating gas edgers though I was reluctant to invest in one. I'm glad I found this edger. It was so easy to use - easy to develop a rhythm. It crunched right through the overhanging lawn - my other manual edgers never penetrated through. It was easy to pull up the edged remains too in most spots. Color me delighted. I'm right-handed and of average height and this was right sized for me. This tool has earned an honor spot in my garden.

Comments about Steppin' Edger:
I think it could be easier to use if 1. handle could telescope ...I have to lean over to use it and that is not comfortable;2. right footers only! Could it flip for either right or left foot?
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
Just like to comment that the reviews are very helpful when thinking of purchasing any item. My suggestion for this product since there was a lot of comments about having to be right-handed. How about a left-handed version. I'm left-handed, but luckily I can use my right-hand just as well. I would prefer to buy a left-handed version, but am thinking of purchasing it anyway.

I ordered this item to cut the edges of a new flower-bed and lay bricks and it is perfect. Cut a clean, straight and even edge with one step.

Comments about Steppin' Edger:
This tool is easy to use and makes a great edge; in harder soils it doesn't work as well, but generally we found it much easier to use than a spade!

Comments about Steppin' Edger:
Very difficult to push into the ground.
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
I have a young boy doing yard chores for me and he just couldn't get the hang of cutting away the edges along the sidewalk. This tool was actually FUN for him to use - he's even stopped by to show it off to his friends and asked his parents to get him one for Christmas! The only problem with it seems to be that it takes a few seconds to figure out which foot you should use - it does seem to be geared toward right handed people.

i use this product to edge my walkways and the bricks around all of my gardens. i've never used anything easier.
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
I put it right to work when it arrived, and the edges looked much better immediately

Comments about Steppin' Edger:
Edging is my least favorite garden chore. This edger allows me to do twice the work in half the time. The blade is so sharp that pushing it down requires very little effort. The soft grip handle is easy on the hands. Best of all, the results look sharp and professional. The only downside is that its design is a little awkward for left-handers (and left-footers) like me. That said, I still find it to be a very useful tool and I would recommend it.

Comments about Steppin' Edger:
I am one of those people who dislikes gas-powered lawn tools; though, some are necessary. I haven't had the step-edger very long; but, so far I am able to keep a nice clean look to my driveway and sidewalk in the front of my house...... gotta' have that "curb appeal". And in the back of my house where I create and play; the step-edger works really well cutting through turf when I extend a plant bed or create a new one. By cutting through; I can use my flat-head shovel and skim off the turf and either find a new home for it or compost it. In fact, I love everything I've purchased through Gardener's Supply [...]

Comments about Steppin' Edger:
I tried edging around my flower beds but it wouldn't cut through the turf. I was looking for an edger that wouldn't throw grass into the flower beds like an electric edger does. With all my weight on it, and I'm not light, I couldn't get it to cut anything. I'm sending it back.
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
EASY TO USE. COMFORTABLE FOOTING.
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
I used this on my drive way and it did not cut completely cut the grass. Also, it makes a very thin edge - I like a thicker edge away from the sidewalk.

Comments about Steppin' Edger:
Step, struggle to pull free from the clay soil, attempt to find the same general line for replacement, then start again - this was my failed experiment with this product. It's evidently not as effective with our soil type. However, I haven't given up on it entirely. Maybe if I just hold my mouth just so ....
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
This edger is as easy to use as advertised. I have been looking for a good inexpensive edging tool for years, and this is it! The blade does get somewhat dull after use, so it may need sharpening.

Comments about Steppin' Edger:
my centipede grass proved to be too much for the step edger but the concept is great and may work better with another type of grass.
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
I have tried using shovels for edgein gin the past and this cuts the work in half. Excellent use of leverage to make a job easier.
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
I have several new beds this year and this edger is so easy to use I didn't mind edging them at all. It works just like they say. It is not heavy and I like the foam grip. Although I can see that the foam grip will break down pretty easily.
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
The Stepping Edger works well to edge along gardens, sidewalks and patio pavers. It remains sharp. I do find it easier to remove the cut sod with a regular shovel but overall I am very satisfied.
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
I purchased this for my husband as an alternative to an expensive edger and him using the weed wacker. He said it took a little getting use to, but he thought it would be very effective and was sturdy.
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
The only difficulty is having enough pressure to weigh it down.
Comments about Steppin' Edger:
Found it awkward to use, hard to get crisp edged results.
