Berry growers use large box-like combs to quickly separate the berries from the stems. We've found one that's better suited for home gardening. Blueberries, huckleberries and blackberries pop right off the plant and into the basket.

This is perfect! I'm glad you finally got one of these for your site. I've been looking for one for quite some time.
Comments about Berry Comb:
There is a bit more cleaning involved than when you hand pick. Leaves and bad berries will have to be picked through after using the rake.
Comments about Berry Comb:
I used it for Blackberry picking. It saved me from getting scratched a lot and worked great.
Comments about Berry Comb:
This berrypicker is near perfect for blueberries, particularly when they are nearly all ready for picking. I didn't use it for raspberries and other soft berries, but suspect it would mangle them.
Comments about Berry Comb:
Great at seperating berries from the bush. What sticks that may get through can be pulled through the bottom. Only negative is it's difficult to get the berries out, although not immposssible.

Comments about Berry Comb:
During blackberry season, my husband loves to meditate by going up into Oak Creek Canyon to pick. I thought this would be such a fun gift item for him. When I unpacked it, I was surprised to see this item was made for children, and that was not mentioned in the product description. My husband is a big man with large hands, and while he still wants to try it. he will not be able to use it as it was designed.

Comments about Berry Comb:
I purchased 4 berry combs in this smaller size. Then I found a site that sells the larger combs with metal thongs. Serious wild berry pickers might like to have a choice in size.
The wild berries we intend to pick are just coming on in the higher altitudes, so I haven't had an opportunity to put them work. However, the design of the combs remind me of the handmade metal (tin) combs used in the late 40s by my mother and father when we went camping in Washington state and picked Huckleberries.
