This whole thing would have been much easier to put together if the nuts and bolts that were provided could be hand threaded on and then tightened with a wrench. But being made in China I guess this is what you can expect! I gave up on using the provided bolts and used 1/4-20 bolts to attach the plastic tray. Now that it's assembled, I like it. I bought it to save my back and knees.

Uses so far have been in deadheading flowers - general maintenance of flower gardens. I plan to really use it for picking green beans, etc. in my garden this summer. We grow our beans on fences, so I planted the rows far enough apart that my scooter will fit between the rows. Picking beans can be a back breaking task - hopefully this will help! Love the shelf to keep my tools and gloves handy. Use a 5 gallon bucket to put garden scraps - when deadheading.

My husband loves to plant in our yard, but due to his respiratory as well as knee problems he needed something he could sit on and move along the rows without difficulty. I had a hard time finding something that would hold his weight and still be able to roll. Your Tractor Scoot is perfect. I love to garden, but unfortunately with two ruptured disks in my back, I have a hard time with weeding my flower beds for any length of time.

After a lot of research on products of this nature, I purchased this tractor scoot. I liked that it was solid, the seat height was adjustable, and it included a rack to hold a bucket for collecting weeds.

When I received it, I had no idea it was going to be that heavy! It certainly was well-built, but the weight of it made it a little bit unweildy when it came to steering it from a sitting position, or stopping it when it was being pulled.

I gave this one four stars because I can tell this one is going to last a long time, however if it had some sort of braking and a better steering mechanism this would have been a five-star no problem!

My wife cannot stand or bend for long. So the adjustable seat is a blessing. I am able to seat and use for various functions. I had been using a five gallon bucket to seat on when working in and around my garden. But this is so much better.

Just wish the handle was a little longer for us tall gentlemen. But other features work well. The tool carrier under the seat is helpful. The basket on the back holds needed items such as plants, watering can, and trash.

I helped our kids pick this out as their Mother's Day gift to my wife, who is an avid gardener with hip and knee problems. We liked that it seemed sturdier than others we saw online, and that it had a steering mechanism with an extendable handle so my wife could pull it around the yard easily without bending over.

I've assembled many things that we've had shipped to us. Sometimes I have difficulties interpreting the dicey directions or finding the right parts or making things fit together just so. I've even assembled things fully only to find I've left out a couple of parts, and then pulled it all apart and reassembled it correctly again. But rarely do I find I have to exert considerable physical strength to assemble something.

Make no mistake about it: the Deluxe Tractor Scoot requires considerable arm/hand/wrist strength simply to screw on the nuts and bolts that hold it together. There seems to be some kind of coating on the threads of the nuts that makes them very hard to tighten, beginning even with the first couple of turns but continuing all the way down the full length of the bolt thread. I had proper (manual) tools that fit the nuts and bolts well, but I had to struggle for prolonged periods to get each and every set on (can't recall exactly, but I think there were 16 to 20 sets of nuts/washers/bolts, and nothing spun freely, not even for a quarter inch).

If you have an electric power tool--nut driver or whatever--I strongly recommend you use it to put this together. I can't imagine most women or elderly people having the arm and hand strength to assemble this without such help.

That being said, once I finished the 2+ hour job of assembling this, I felt I had assembled something distinctively sturdy that my wife would find very useful. She's used it now for a few weeks and finds it to be a great help when she's working in the garden. The seat height can be adjusted simply by rotating the seat left or right to raise or lower it. The wheels are sturdy and move along nicely as she pulls it around the garden using the extendable steering lever. The attached bucket is very handy, and the molded tractor seat is reasonably comfortable (she wishes it had back support, but that would be a lot to ask for in a device like this).

Speaking of the wheels, though, I have to heartily second the sentiments of a number of reviewers here who complained about the stench produced by the rubber tires. They really, really stink--and the assembly instructions duly warn you of that. Take it seriously. We have a large, three-car garage, and the chemical smell from the tires lasted a good three weeks or so before finally dissipating even in a space that large.

If you can live with the negatives I've described, then you'll be happy with the sturdiness, usefulness and performance of this product. Too bad you can't buy this pre-assembled.

Due to arthritis in my knees, I can no longer kneel to do my edging, weeding, etc., so I asked for this for Christmas. I absolutely LOVE it!! The seat can be lowered if necessary, and it rotates; the tray underneath is handy; and I put a 5-gal. bucket with an organizer on it in the basket, so my tools are ever-ready, and I have someplace to put the weeds. It is relatively easy (depending on the terrain) to move without getting out of the seat, too. It is soooo much more convenient to use--and store--than my wheelbarrow...Best Christmas Present Ever.

The Tractor scooter was purchased as a gift for my mother. The last two years she has not been able to tend to her garden as much as she wanted as my father was sick and has since passed away. So, she was anxious to get back out to the garden this year to get some weeding done. Since she has had both knees replaced this has been a wonderful tool to help her with her gardening. Nice swivel seat and storage for tools underneath. She was asked how she like it by a neighbor and I have given the catalog to her. So you may have another customer if it comes in John Deere green.

I love the deluxe tractor scoot. I have used it to garden in my raised beds. The swivel seat makes it easy to get in and out of the tight areas between my beds. It is especially great if you have a bad back and cannot bend over a lot. There are two things that would make it even better, that is if the handle locked in the extended postion and it had a drink holder somewhere on it.

What a work horse this thing is. It has got me back in my flower beds again. I have back problems and this thing is just wonderful. I have been able to dig up the grass around the base of the smaller trees in our yard and the flower beds look nice. I love my new scooter! I had my hip replaced several years ago and bending can be a challenge when working in the garden. This scooter has a nice comfortable seat which swivels and you can adjust the height as well. The tray underneath the seat holds several garden hand tools and my gloves with room to spare. And having the bucket on the back lets me take things out to the garden or fill it up with weeds, etc. The wheels are good size and don't get stuck on my mulched paths.

Cute, but as others have said-no brake causes sliding on incline. Needs better steering when sitting and trying to scoot, usually will not move unless you get off. Can scoot left or right when sitting, but can not steer to turn. Great to have tub holder attached.

My wife is the user for this. She has been using a smaller plastic version for years, but due to a back injury wanted to be able to stay seated and actually move around her beds; her old one just wouldn't do that. This product has 10" inflated tires that roll well pretty even on soil. The steering could be better I suppose, but careful assembly of the steering mechanism helps significantly with that. Would definitely recommend to others (...and so I am...).

The tractor scoot is great because it is something you can not only sit on while working in the garden, but it is also on wheels. So you don't have to constantly stand up and move it. The seat has an adjustable height, which is great for comfort. It can't always go everywhere in the garden, but it is great if you are going around landscape beds around the house or in a vegetable garden. Even if you don't always sit on it, you can haul tools, weeds, etc.

The plastic tray under the seat was NOT easy to install, it took two of us. The frame does seem sturdy and well built. Unfortunately, we have a somewhat sloping yard and so I have to get the scoot situated just right so as not to roll away from whatever I'm working on. I knew that might be an issue, so it's not the fault of the scoot but maybe if there was some kind of brake that could be added to the design? On the other hand I appreciate the simplicity of the design and overall I think it is pretty well thought out.

Scoot arrived this morning. I was surprised to see it was hefty, strong, sturdy and very easy to assemble. It works perfectly as I was able to work at ground level and in the raised bed with no strain to either my knees or my back! Seat is amble for the larger person and surprisingly comfortable. It maneuvers fairly well from the seated position and follows along well in tight quarters when pulled by the handle. I definitely recommend this little scoot for anyone with either knee or back problems. I can work in the garden again without pain!

When i assembled the scooter one of the wire brackets for the bucket was not there but the weld seam was painted over. I note that RBT Mini 12/10/10 reported a similar, if not the same, problem. Yesterday one of he rings that holds the handle on broke off at the weld seam, a problem also reported by Barry 4/18/11. You urgently need to have quality control by the manufacturer improved. I now move it with a rope by lifting the front wheels off the ground. It otherwise saves me from a sore back and I would recommend it to a friend if only it wouldn't break. But unfortunately, see the "bottom line".

My yard is uneven and sloped. It made it tip often and the tires deflated with every use. It needs solid rubber or fiberglass tires. The seat is impractical. You had to position it "just so". I ended up just standing and bending rather than use it. I like the fact that I could use it with my 6 foot height and it did not collapse under my weight or pop screws. I had no handle so I struggled just to move it.

I bought the Tractor Scooter so I could weed and plant the fronts of my beds without having to kneel down. Once in position it is good but trying to maneuver around to the next section can be difficult if your beds are not in a start line. The seat is comfortable and rotates well so you can work on a large area once in position. I like having the trug on the back for the weeds, once pulled, and the tray underneath for tools.

I am a 65+ disabled grandma that loves to garden. Haven't been able to because I can no longer get down or to stand for any length of time. This scoot is great. It is solid. It is the same color as my husband's garden tractor which is really neat! It is saving my back. I lowered the seat all the way down which gets me lower to the ground and I can plant and pull weeds and my back does not hurt at all; whereas before when I didn't have this my back and arches in my feet would kill me. I love this thing, so glad I got it, and would recommend it to anyone with trouble bending over, back pain, foot pain, etc. One tip to help it steer really easily is to add a squirt of WD40 to the steering mechanism...smooth!

I purchased this for my husband for his birthday. As it is still cold here in upstate NY, we haven't been out to the garden yet. However, he was able to put this together very easily in our family room. He has tried it out on our deck while repotting plants started inside for the garden. The ONLY thing negative about my Tractor Scoot(er) is that my hubby had to assemble it for me. Wish it came ready to roll! The seat is wonderful. The scooter is awesome. I had 2 of the home improvement store plastic ones that didn't last a year. This metal one with the tractor seat is much more comfortable and with the drain holes in the storage tray, I don't have to worry if I leave it out in the weather. Love the great color too.

this is a great little cart and does scoot around nicely. i was disappointed as the basket prongs came bent and when my husband assembled it, one snapped right off. fortunately, he is handy and had a clamp to hold it on. i am afraid it won't hold a bucket of water, which is one of the tasks i hoped it would do.

(After viewing the pins available at the store, you'll realize how cheap the included cotter pins are... and make sure to bring one with you, to properly size the replacements.)The cotter pin replacement was necessary because the printed installation instructions are WRONG for the step that describes their attachment; my husband was unfamiliar with cotter pins and followed the instructions, destroying two of them before frustration got the better of him and he stopped to ask me for help. (Assemble the wheel and washers on the axle, then insert the CLOSED cotter pin through the small hole at the end of the axle; push it through until it stops, THEN separate the ends of the cotter pins and wrap them back around the circumference of the axle, in opposite directions.)Have used this item twice and do find it handy, but would only recommend it if the instructions are corrected and the price point is lowered considerably. For all of the assembly challenges, my husband does like the scoot and has used it as well. (He isn't mechanically inclined, but is learning.) I would also highly recommend lubricating the threads beneath the seat, as the spindle is bare metal and exposed, which means immediate RUST with any moisture. A small tube of light lubricant would have been a thoughtful enclosure. There's also a small rubber bumper pad attached to the stop plate at the bottom of the scoot handle to prevent chipping of paint when the handle rests against the plate... had to glue that back on too, as whatever was used at the factory immediately failed. Nice!In summary, improve the finish, [...] and hardware, and correct the assembly text... and you have a winner. Or leave it as is and lower the price point considerably. I am now disabled due to heart condition. Being able to sit and not have to get up constantly is helpful to me. The wheels are big enough to hold my weight. The seat swivels which makes it wonderful to move around. Having Bucket on back makes it perfect for me. I was always guilty of leaving things out after working in yard now it is so easy to clean up after myself. Only problem I have is the front wheels do not turn easily I have to kick the wheels to make them turn. I think it was the problem of the person who put it together for me. Other wise I have no complaints about this item.

It was missing a long enough bolt (bolt was supplied, just not the right length!) ; fortunately my husband had an aircraft-quality bolt the right length!! While I am not using it on steep terrain, I do have hills, and it could use some braking mechanism! Got me a 5 gallon pail and it's a perfect combo!

Fairly easy assembly, except one pivot hole/pivot bolt are missized. Had to add a sleeve onto the bolt to make a reasonable fit, otherwise it would have been sloppy and unacceptable. It really saves getting down onto your knees and having to bend at the waist to save your back. Well built and very sturdy.

Love my garden work seat. I was lucky to receive one for Christmas this year. I have a large piece of ornamental grass which needs pruned to 1 ft. each year. I am recovering from hip and knee surgery. The scooter's adjustable seat height is exactly what I need, and the swiveling tractor seat is incredibly useful and comfortable. Although the whole unit is very heavy, it is easy to pull along and the front wheels respond easily to the direction intended. However, it is impossible to maneuver it from a seated position. I wanted to continue straight ahead, going parallel to the bed I was weeding, but the front wheels kept turning in as I tried to roll it along, resulting in me having to stand up to correct their positioning. This is the opposite of what I needed; I will have to re-assess this condition to see if there is some way of guiding it while sitting. Previous reviewers mentioned that their unit was rusting when left out in the weather. I have been storing it in the garden shed, but I notice that the enamel is already chipped and know that I will have to be careful.
I have only used it once so far.

This is a very well made item, easy to assemble and works great. When the box arrives, don't move it in the house...the tires really smell foul and will quickly stink up your house. Leave outside or in the garage for at least a week after receiving it to let the smell release from the tires. You won't be sorry you own this cart.

As there is still three feet of snow on the garden, I have not actually had a chance to use the Scoot, but I assembled it as soon as it arrived, and that process went smoothly. I bought this as a gift for my 76 yr old mom and 78 yr old dad. Both have back issues. I put it together for them. It was very easy to assemble with the exception of the tray. Between the angle and the tiny nuts and washers, it was a major pain. Otherwise, great product. My parents seemed pleased with it. Will have to wait for the season to find out if it's as useful as we think it will be. The seat is quite comfortable and it is easy to adjust the height. Easy to steer as well.

My husband will use it in the garage when he's doing different jobs that require sitting. He loves that the seat turns 360 degrees. The turning of the front tires made a big difference for him. If they were stationery, it would have limited his use for it. I myself will love using it in the garden between my vegetable rows. It will make weeding so much easier.

The concept is good and the execution is basically sound, but it's done "on the cheap". This is definitely not a "professional grade" heavy-duty item, but it will suffice for occasional or light duty use. [...] A significant amount of hardware was completely missing. The basket should not have passed QC, as it had broken wires prior to powdercoating. Design and construction of the steering linkage, tray brackets, seat post and axles needs improvement: these are high wear and tear areas, and will not work well long-term without some modification / redesign. Fixing the design and construction issues would make it an excellent product, albeit at a higher price point. At this price point, it's OK, but not great.

Appreciate the update to tractor. I purchased the older tractor and used it in the garden all the time. The handle now makes it easier to move. Storage tray drainage holes saves your tools if you happen to leave the tractor outside in the rain, it does not fill up with rain water. I gave my first tractor to my older aunt because it was getting harder for her to garden. This has made it much easier for her. Thank you for the up grades it has made my gardening easier.

Makes it simply easy to get down planting little ones or weeding. I was, however, disappointed in steering this tractor as it is rather difficult steering it while sitting and doing the "duck waddle".

I took the tractor scoot to my Dad's house to have him help me put it together and he was so impressed with it that he said he may buy one for himself. My Dad is in his eighties and still loves working outside, but his back can no longer handle a lot of bending; I didn't tell him that I actually ordered 2, one for myself and one for his upcoming birthday.
The handle is the only thing that I am not thrilled over, it needs to lock in various positions, seems very awkward and hard to steer. Also, the piece of rubber that is at the bottom of the handle, fell off when I took it out of the box. Other than that, I love it.

The construction is strong. The seat very comfortable. I am in my 80's and this is perfect for weeding and getting through my garden. It pulls very easily which ia a great plus.

This is an improvement over earlier models. The turning front wheels and pull handle are very convenient,and the rear basket fits that five gallon bucket that you've been saving. The idea is great but the quality could be improved upon. The bolts holding the seat down are not flush, and the spindle holding it was showing rust right out of the box. Some better manufacturing and lubrication would fix this. Otherwise - I'm satisfied.

The scoot is a quality built product made to last many years. I had fallen and injured my back 9 months ago and have had problems bending, stooping, standing, and twisting. My garden became neglected. With the scoot, I have been able to easily raise and lower the adjustable scoot seat to tend to my garden and am able to just "scoot" down the entire row without having to bend, stand or squat. The attached bucket carrier is also so convenient to put small garden tools or a bucket full of pulled out weeds. I absolutely LOVE IT!!!

I love this product - I don't mind weeding now. I am recommending my tractor scoot to my neighbors and co-workers. I love how I don't have to bend or kneel to weed and I can just push myself along the flower bed. It really makes my gardening much easier. I am so glad that I bought this. The Tractor Scoot is a big help in my weedy garden. It is a good height for me and the ability to swivel 360 degrees is a real time saver. The only downside is that it can be difficult to manage on sloped ground or in small spaces - in rock gardens, for example. In these situations it can be heavy and unwieldy.

The assembly directions were fairly easy to follow although I recommend sorting the bolts ahead of time.

The swivel seat is the best. It's nice to have a seat that doesn't crack or come loose. I can "duck walk" but now I don't have to! It's nice to be able to hitch little rolling things behind me and transport plants, chemicals, tools, and trash all in the same trip. And, I finally get to have a rolling toy!

A disabled gardener, I needed something to sit on. This unit is heavy, hard to steer the handle sticks and it so large the wheels crush the plants around it. It is NOT good for tight areas. Since I don't have a garage, it stays outside. The paint has quickly faded and all joints are rusting. It was not easy to assemble by myself. I would not buy it again.

An all-around fabulous design, but the seat is just too high for my comfort. I would suggest you check out the height factor before buying. I'm 5'6" and the little plastic scooter I wore out was 12" and was perfect for me. I didn't realize how much difference the 3 or 4 inch increase would make. It is just enough to make my back hurt. Of course it depends on what you plan to use it for, also. I use it for weeding, where I am reaching all the way to the ground. I love everything else about this scooter, unfortunately, the one problem I have makes it almost unusable.

A bit high so can be hard on the back during weeding. Brakes would have been helpful, especially on an incline. That being said, overall a good seat w/ a handy storage area.

its' seat is too high for economy of effort while digging in the garden, but it is comfortable after the digging to rest the back. it has all you might expect with such an implement. i priced another brand/model that was not steerable and was forty bucks more expensive.not at all what is desired of this "scoot". your design is a good one that fills a home gardener's desires for such an implement.design needs "tweaking".

The 'Deluxe Tractor Scoot' with the telescoping handle and 'Bucket Basket' is a must have! I appreciate the quality of the all-metal construction (except tray), the larger rubber tires and it's larger size. It pulls and rolls around nicely. Performance and quality is unsurpassed. Great assembly instructions. I love the Green Streak, the weeds hate it. It makes gardening fun again for a midseventies child. I have trouble bending and stooping and the Scoot eliminates those problems. Wonderful mobility. I can enjoy my yard again. The only problem is the failure of the news media to tell the world how great the Scoot is.

The handle is poorily designed and not very sturdy. [...].My yard is on a small incline and it kept trying to roll away with and without me on it.Also, accidentily received small brief shower on scooter and the large adjustable seat bolt is already rusty. Very disappointing.

I am a large lady and loved to work in my flower gardens. Due to arthritis I am no longer able to kneel down or stand in place for long to bend and weed or plant, this scooter is very sturdy and allows me to sit while weeding and planting. I can scoot along on the heavy duty tires and pull myself to the fence or cane and stand when finished.
