If you've ever used a shovel to turn over clumps of soil or struggled with a noisy, hard-to-control tiller to prepare a planting bed, you'll appreciate this innovative manual tiller. It lets you loosen soil from a standing position, using the strength of your whole body instead of just your lower back. Simply step the stirrup into the soil and turn the handle, and the arrowhead-tipped tines break up the soil.

  • Ergonomic tiller loosens soil and breaks up clumps
  • Uses the strength of your whole body, not just your arms
  • Cultivated soil absorbs water and nutrients better than compacted soil

Comments about Manual Tiller:

I had seen another version of this at [...] but when I went to get it, all they had was this thing and so I took it home. I could puncture and till the soil with no need to use my foot but it wasn't long before I became tired, after about 30 up and down strokes. I had to stop and come back later. I am 6'4" and weigh 254lbs and have plenty of muscle. This device should be redesigned to make a lighter and longer tool.

Comments about Manual Tiller:

My knees are giving me problems in my 50's! That's why I like this thing so much...it keeps me standing up and still dislodges the most stubborn weeds. Just give it a twist and if it doesn't remove the weed for you, it at least loosens it so all you need to do is bend over and pull it up. I love this thing!

Works great on hard compacted sod
By HRS from Underhill, VT on 5/19/2011
Pros:
Easy To Use, Lightweight, Powerful, Rugged
Best Uses:
Gardens, Larger Yards, Pathways, Smaller Yards
Describe Yourself:

Comments about Manual Tiller:

My lawn looks wonderfully green but it is really made up of compacted weeds. Underneath is rich soil but full of baseball size rocks. This tiller makes uprooting that nasty sod and working the soil to remove the rock amazingly easy!

Have broken ribs works great

Pros:
Compact, Easy To Use, Ergonomic, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons:
Depth limited
Best Uses:

Comments about Manual Tiller:

Have broken ribs, can't lift but garden needs preparation. Can get work done now. Will be trying on green manure bed to see how well it works. On sparsely plant bed it does not blend grasses but they sit on top. would rather have compost value of grass.

Comments about Manual Tiller:

This is a great tool for losening unamended soil and turning & preparing existing beds. It's good for basic beds and plots, but would not take the place of a rototiller for larger areas.
The grip is good and the foot rest above the tines enables you to exert your full body weight when turning the earth. It's much better than hacking away with claw and hoping your arm won't fall off! :-)

Comments about Manual Tiller:

I love the idea, but I tried to use it adding in amendment to clay soil, and it didn't quite work. Next I'll try it in a different area where I'm adding amendment to already good soil.
