This is by far one of my favorite gardening tools. When I find myself down on the ground planting or weeding, I don't want to have to keep changing tools. I love this tool. I use it for everything; planting, dividing, planting bulbs, weeding. I love the hook that cuts string or tough plant stems, and the cutting edge is perfect for sawing thru plants when you divide. I just wish that it beeped or flashed when I accidentally dump it in the trash with weeds. The only way they could improve it would be to add a belt clip.

I used my orange "gardener's knife" the whole time. It was my favorite tool. I lost it this summer (despite its bright color) and tried but failed to find an exact replacement, so I bought your Multi-Purpose Garden Knife, and am disappointed for the reasons given above. It's not what the old garden knife was, an extension of my hand and arm. It's too big and instead of feeling easy it feels annoyingly difficult. The near end of the knife, the bit that should feel good in the hand, doesn't because it isn't rounded enough. The photo above shows that it is going to hurt the hand that wields it.

I love this new knife and have lots of fun gardening with it; however, it hurts my hand! Wish the handle were made of a softer material, like hard rubber. The handle causes me fatigue and requires several days of rest to heal the pain. I've been using my heated hand mitts a lot, and seeing the chiropractor. Be careful not to overdo it until you get used to how hard the handle is! The handle on my trowel is soft, so that's what I'm used to! I love that it cuts through weed roots and tough clay soil so I can plant in areas I thought I couldn't plant in.

When I first got this tool I didn't use it that much, but now that I've had it awhile, it's becoming my must-have do everything tool. It's great for cutting through tough roots when planting, scraping aside landscape mulch when I want to clear a spot to dig, opening bags and lifting weeds. It also double as a trowel, although is a little narrower than my favorite trowel. The only thing it does not do well is uprooting dandelions.

The garden knife seems a little heavy when you first pick it up but I did not notice the weight after I started working with it. It was much nicer to dig to plant my bulbs than a plastic type one that I have had. It is sharp which made the digging very nice and confined to where I wanted to dig. I just love this spade/knife. I primarily use it for planting outside of worked beds. It cuts roots and the forked point works up the ground really well. The blade opens bags easily. I can dig a good size hole of well worked soil (and mix in potting soil, compost, or whatever easily) with much less time and effort than using a traditional spade. The measurement scale on the blade is extremely helpful as well, especially for those of us who are challenged by "how deep is?" I liked it so much, I bought a couple as gits for friends.

I bought this for a gift and haven't used it myself. It looks great, but with the sharp cutting edges, it would be nice to have a case/holster for it. I loved my first multi-purpose garden knife so much, I had to buy a second one. I also bought one for a professional landscaper/friend as a thank-you gift and she was duly impressed with the design and weight and can't wait for gardening season to use it. My day job is a wetland consultant and on the weekends I run a native plant nursery. In both roles this tool has instantly replaced the other tools I used to carry. The knife is strong enough to pry up soil samples of dry, hard baked clay during the week, and slice open bales of potting soil on the weekend. I keep it in the leg slit pocket of my overalls - it's like a third hand. The only improvement I would suggest would be to offer an optional scabbard. The serrated edge is tearing up my pants.

Had to dig through some tough weed block to plant mums. This cut right through it with no problem and my hands aren't as strong as they use to be. Digs small holes easier that a regular garden trowel too.

THis product feels good in my hand, and I know that practically nothing is gong to stand in my way when I use it. It is used mainly fow weeding and digging for the setting of new plants. I especially like the sharp serrated edge - very useful when I come across a vine or root in the middle of a project. I find less use for the double point at the end - sometimes that doesn't allow me to stab into the ground to as deep as I would like. Overall I am very satisfied.

mostly time I use for weeds remove, cut threat and measure for plant flowers/perennial plants. one thing I can't do hard dirt/too dry ground will be hurt my hand. best soft dirt then easy to dig.

I use the tool to dig holes for plants, open bags, pop dandelions, mullien and other similar weeds and slice off other weeds that don't pull easily. It is so easy to use. This is the first tool I grab when I go to work in the garden.

I just love this tool. It is the first one I pull out of my garden shed. I can dig a hole, cut through roots, measure how deep my hole is and do it all with one tool.

Good if you want one tool to have with you, since it does so much. However, individual tools more suited to each task can be more useful if you expect to be at work for a while. This is a good multi purpose tool to have with you as you (casually) walk around your garden. One word of caution is that the bag cutter (I believe that's what its for) is sharp and I did manage to cut myself accidentally with it, but that won't happen again, since I use the tool with a little more respect for that sharp part.

I gave the garden knife to my husband in his Christmas stocking, but once I used it...he's not getting it back! It's the only tool I carry with me to do garden work. I've dug up roots, opened bags of mulch, planted annuals, moved river rock mulch, and much more. I need to buy another for him!

I cant say enough about this garden knife. It has many uses in the yard as well as in the out-back. There is only one caveat and that is you have to be careful when using the garden knife or you can cut yourself by numerous means( getting hooked by the cutting notch, saw, knife edge). This is not an item for the con: list, just a warning. And this is not a con, just a wish, but I do wish they made a holster for this animal. You find yourself carrying it around like a New Age Machete, with no place to keep it. But I would not hesitate to venture into the jungle with this beasty.

There are NO negatives. I use the tool to cut down maple saplings, dig out boulders, edge the grass, dig in rock-hard clay soil, transplant, cut underground roots...
You name it, I've used the garden knife to accomplish it.

No matter what I'm doing in the yard, this multi-purpose garden knife is always handy. Its ability to perform diverse functions really cuts down on the amount of tools that I carry around while doing yard chores. The same tool that I can use to plant/transplant small plants, can also be used to cut the string that I need to stake another plant nearby. And when I'm done planting and staking, the same tool helps me weed the area. Finally, I can use the same tool again to open a fresh bag of mulch to keep the area tidy. 4 jobs - 1 tool!
