Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

I'm using this light to start seedlings. It's done very well for that. The cord attaching the two bulbs is too short, and I can't keep it inserted. It would be so much better and brighter if only I could get both sides to work.

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

I started tomato seeds. They are full, lush and ready to plant. I've tried a lot of seed starters and this light is a winner. I highly recommend this grow light. If you aren't planning a large garden this light is a good choice. I used one of the new seed starter kits in conjunction with this light. I bought some plants at the local home center and had to keep them inside for almost a week. A day under the light tucked in the back of the garage, and the plants were reaching for the light. Well worth the money. My only concern is whether or not I can find replacement lamps.

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

The size may limit use in a small kitchen area; I set mine up on a table that is out of the way of traffic. This light, combined with a heat mat, has germinated seeds in two days! The construction is attractive and easy to set up utilizing only a screwdriver. Adjustable to nearly two feet tall allows for full plant development prior to setting out into the garden; for smaller plants, you shouldn't need anything larger. Also, there is a thumb-switch that allows only one bulb to light, or switch it for both bulbs, so you can adjust the amount of light depending on the size and placement of your plants. This is an awesome appliance!

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

I eliminated one star because it was quite difficult to put together. My husband had difficulty snapping the light fixtures in (the fixtures to which one adds the bulbs) and they are somewhat flimsy. He ended up bending them a little, but they are still workable. Once together, however, it is easy to move the lights up and down and it is attractive. I put it in my dining room and my oregano and basil are very happy.

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

This light has two bulbs which is hard to find at this price. It allows the entire seed tray to get good exposure to the light. This is the second light I purchased, and it works best when used in conjunction with the warming mat. I enjoy being able to grow my own flowers from seed since it gives me a larger variety of plants than I can find in local stores or on-line.

Great product if you don't mind spending a few extra bucks.

Simple, easy to use, and does not take up that much counter space - Highly Recommended!

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

I see units that look the same for lots less, but this one is very sturdy and puts out plenty of light. The ball chain system for adjusting the height of the hood is an elegant design.

My only critique would be that the switches are a bit awkward to use, sharp on your fingers and stiff to turn. The one between the bulbs (great to have to allow one or two bulls lit) is on a cord that does not have enough slack in it, and the cord sometimes comes loose when operating the switch.

Overall, this compact unit is the best of it's kind!

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

This product was purchased to provide a small lighted area in an assisted living where plants could be nurtured by residents. Unfortunaltely we haven't been able to use it yet because we can't find a plastic tray to use under the light to put the plants on to protect the table surface from spills and stains. As soon as one is located I'm sure the residents will love this new addition to their living area.

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

I don't have much space and none of my windows receive any sun due to trees. I set this system up in front of a window and it fit perfectly. Took up so little space and was the right width size for a small table. It works great for someone who doesn't have a basement or some other enclosed outdoor space. My vegetable seedlings are well on their way for spring planting.

I used the grow light to grow the cowpot seedlings uncovered: (no dome cover over the pots). Very easy to grow the seeds. Excellent lights and I added water to the bottom of the cowpots. A little bit of water to the top of the cowpots. It is heavy and large, not be able to unassemble it.

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

The frame assembly was easy. Follow the instructions. The light works well for a tray of 24 small pots. The instructions say to place the light about 3" above the plants. This is difficult when some seedlings are taller, but it didn't seem to bother them. The frame is attractive; we raised our seedlings in a corner of our family room. We added a digital timer to control to length of light and dark. It worked great.

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

I would not order the piece again, at least as it's priced. Considering the construction, the light system should be priced in the $59 dollar range ($69 tops). The hood is flimsy and the entire piece is delicate, which doesn't bode well for its durability.

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

Once I got the chain to attach, I was happy with the product, but it arrived with the chain attachment (which is rivited on the cover) terribly bent, and I had a really hard time getting it to work at all. It was simple to assemble other than that problem, and it works fine and is easily used in minimal space indoors.

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

Seems to be working just fine. Once you put it together...if the light is hanging crooked, you can adjust it with the "up/down" connections. My only wish would be that they put a little more information on seed starting itself...I'll get that from the net somewhere else. All else about this product is as it is advertised. It seems to fit exactly over a flat or starter kit (from other company) that can hold anywhere from 50-90 or so starter pots.

I like the look of it and dimensions, however, I think it feels a little wobbly and wish it had come with a tray which would attach to the legs somehow and make it more stable. I also like the adjustable light height. I will tweak it so that I make it more stable. It isn't inexpensive and frankly I expected just a little more as stated above.

Easy to assemble. My 15 year old son put it together while I was away. The light doesn't get too hot and seems to be working great as far as the plants are concerned. We use it for a bonsai tree and some carnivorous plants during the winter.

The cord pulls the light off balance, but it's easy enough to fix by propping up the cord.

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

I have a teeny NYC apartment with limited light. During the summer, I can get good indirect light but I was worried about the winter as it can get pretty dark and gloomy. I just moved my orchids last week under these tabletop grow lights (I bought 2) and one is actually starting to bud to flower already (AND I am only using 1 of the T5 bulbs for each stand)! These bulbs and the stand are really living up to my needs and expectations. I am very happy with my purchase.

The light is working well and my plants are doing well under it; however, I feel the light is overpriced particularly when compared to the sturdiness of the light. The individual frame pieces are held by one screw to attach to corresponding pieces. This allows the pieces to move when handling the light. At a minimun, two screws should hold each frame piece to its mate. Overall, I am satisfied with the light, but I feel it is overpriced.

Comments about Tabletop Grow Light:

I have had this lamp many years ago and am not as happy with this one as before. In your ads you do not show the power cord plugged in and the reason must be because it plugs into only one side of the hood thereby making it tipsy. I keep a hammer balanced on the hood to keep it evenly lighting my seedlings. A better place for the power cord would have been in the middle of the side of the hood. I was going to send it back but the hammer makes it usable and I have lots of seedlings coming up. I feel if the power cord was shown in the ads you would not have been able to show the hood in a level position. A little bit of a deceptive ad, I think. I have purchased alot from you over the years but am becoming a little less satisfied lately with quality.
