Pay attention to orientation of light baffles and the plugs of connectors at the ends. The instructions don't tell you that the plugs only go in one way. We had to take the baffles off and re-do them because we didn't know that.
Also watch the "spacer" instructions when attaching the light pull-chains. They're very important.

So far, I can not keep the bulbs burning. They are very sensitive. I called for help and well, they burn sometimes, when I fiddle with them. The shelf is not sturdy. If I did not have it put together, I would send it back. It is a real rip off!!!! I could have purchased a shelf and put together some grow lights that worked better than this.

Solid stand made of metal (not plastic!) Chains to raise and lower lights operate easily to lock in place, unlock to move. Rubber-type trays that won't crack easily. Only one problem, the holes that were drilled to allow installation of bottom side panels cannot be used because the screws holding vertical parts intersect. Instead of returning product, I'll just redrill and in meantime set the tray on the floor.

New this year for me and I'm using it to start vegetables and outdoor annuals and perrenials. It is well made (and made in the USA!) and I had no trouble assembling myself in an afternoon. It doesn't take a huge amount of space and the ability to adjust the height of the lights easily is nice.
Except for the price being a little steep, It is a very good product.

I ordered and received the T5 3-tier system very quickly, which was important as I wanted to be sure and have it early enough to start my plants for this growing season. I assembled this myself while my husband was at work and just took my time to do it right. It took me about 2 hours or a little more. The design of this unit allows a lot of seed starting in a compact space. We do not have a basement, so this is in my dining room in a corner and I'm quite happy every morning when I come downstairs and see all my plants. It's pricey, but well worth it.

The slot in the light reflector needs to be more secure. When raising or lowering the lights, the ring on the chain diconnects from the reflector. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the product

I received the T-3 unit yesterday and had no trouble assembling it using the provided instructions. As the T-3 went to together I was increasingly impressed by its combination of structural integrity and minimal weight. Speaking as a full-time craftsman, with a craftsman's eye for detail and quality, this is a very well designed and executed bit of American-made technology (and hat's off to the Brits for their bits of the package). There is no doubt in my mind that this investment will be more than justified; I should have bought one of these three years ago rather than wasting those years fooling around with standard shelving and what little sunlight passed through our windows (you can imagine my scraggly seedlings; water-warped shelving boards, and mediocre success going from seed to garden). The T-3 is not inexpensive, but it is worth the expense. I plan to buy a second one after I pay off the first using the easy-pay plan.

There has been much discussion about problems regarding feeding the chains through the frame. We used the twist tie from the electrical cord and wrapped around the chain. We then staightened the tie and fed it right through. That was the only issue we had with assembly.

I would give this a five star rating if the assembly directions were clearer. I am a 75 year old woman and had to call Gardeners Supply for help. They were great and in no time I figured out what I had done wrong. It took me most of one day by myself to assemble. I wish I could re-write the directions for non-mechanical oriented persons.

This product is quite pricey and we put it off because of this but our rosemary and bay laurel started looking peeked in January so we bit the bullet. Our main reason for buying the Sunlite stand, though, was to start our seedlings for spring planting. My wife and I assembled this unit in about an hour (you'll want an assistant). Not only were the instructions clear but the stickers numbering the parts came off without leaving any residue, NONE! We're weird about that, but it was just another example of the thought that went into this durable, well designed unit. Our bay and rosemary have gone wild and our electric bill is still within reason.

This was not that difficult to assemble. However, upon near completion I discovered that the 2 right main "legs" were not drilled correctly making it impossible to join the sides together. I've gerrymandered a temporary solution and after gardening season will disassemble and try to fix. I was not about to take the entire fixture apart and go through the hassle of returning it.

I got this for my orchids, but have also used it to grow herbs in winter, start tomatoes seeds early, and now I've got a couple pots of shallots starting as an experiment. I expect to start flowers next spring.
It's great for the orchids...my only complaint is that I need a wider distance between the trays and the lights for the taller orchids. So...now I'm looking at the table top model!
The shelves are well-made. Each light can be operated separately, so you don't have to light them all if you don't need them at different times. The height adjustments are really easy to use, and that's important for me because I'm in a wheelchair. It's a bit warmer under the lights, (about 75 degrees), but cool above and around the lights, so this won't affect your air conditioning!
I really debated about spending this much money, but I am absolutely glad I did!

I started hundreds of flower and vegetable plants on this this spring. It is wonderful now to see my gardens full of unusual plants that are not available from local nurseries. Plants grew nice thick stems, so the light was plenty adequate.
This winter I will try over wintering some of my favorite annual flowers planted this year, and grow some lettuce and herbs. I'm sure there will be plenty of new experiments, such as rooting cuttings.
This sits at the end of my kitchen, in front of a bank of windows and is a lovely conversation piece.
I had a tough time with the assembly. I think the directions should be written so a twelve year old could understand them without having intuitive knowledge of how to put things together.

I have monkeyed around with all sorts of plant starting systems and home-made light systems for over 30 years. This was WAY more efficient and FAST. I need to change my plant starting schedule, because the tomatos grew TOO fast and got too big before I could put them out! I EXPECT this to last me for many years! I may even keep it up for winter use for lettuce! I love it!

It only took two cups of coffee to get this project done. One cup to read over the directions carefully and the second cup was sipped as I built the stand. It's not as difficult to assemble as others have discribed in their reviews. All the parts were in the package, they were labeled well and everything worked.
Seattle has been cooler than normal this year and my vegetable garden is struggling. On a good note my rain barrels are filled to the brim. I decided that I wanted to get a jump on the gardening next year and bought my Christmas present early. I am looking forward to a better harvest next year with the help from my new T-5 3 tier growing system.

After doing a lot of looking around I selected this product because of its features. The lights are really easy to adjust - new seeds need to be within 3" of the lights but as they grow the light must move. The lightbulbs that come with this system had seeds emerging within days - probably about 1/2 the normal time. The shelves are large and hold lots of seed trays and plants.

I've always wanted a lite stand, but could never afford the amount of money it took to by one. When I saw that I could buy a stand on easypay, I jumped on the oppurtunity. When the unit arived, I was able to assemble it by myself in less than an hour.
Last year I made my on fixture out of wood and shoplight fixtures, but it wasn't satisfactory. My plants where spindly as adjustnent of the light source was diffucult. With the T-5 3-tier light garden I'm abel to adjust the lights perfectly, and my plants are strong and healthy as if they where growing in a greenhouse. I love it.

I've been coveting lighted grow shelving for a long time, and made do with homemade for years. This year, I finally treated myself, and boy, am I glad! This product is fun and easy to assemble (took me about an hour by myself), and it works exactly as you expect. My tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and flowers are doing wonderfully, and in about three years, this product will have more than paid for itself -- growing from seed is MUCH less expensive and a lot more satisfying, and this product makes it easy. I have several jealous friends now, too...

The mechanism for moving the lights up and down in excellent;however, it could use more head space for the taller plants that I want to winter over. The starter set that I purchased along with the Sunlite Garden was awesome. I have everything I need to get started planting seeds next month.
Assembly was a bit tricky for someone who isn't very mechanical like myself. Thank goodness my husband offered to help!

I am using my 3 tier SunLite Garden as an herb garden and also as a seed starter for future planting when the weather gets warmer. Since the broad spectrum lites imitate sunlight, the seeds and seedlings get full sunlight even in the darkest of winter months. If I had more room I would have a second or third SunLite Garden. By using a dehydrator, I am able to supply my family and friends with freshly dried herbs which are more tasty than store bought spices and herbs.

Very easy to assemble. The only problem I had, which was a slight one, was plugging in the short light cord on each light fixture which connects all three lights so you can turn all the lights on at once. There is lots of space for seedlings and the lights are adjustable so you can have seedlings at different stages of growth. Easy to move even when fully loaded. Excellent product.
