Packaging was excellent. I've bought plant lights through the mail before and they have often arrived in itsy-bitsy pieces.

We bought a 3-tier light stand from Gardener's Supply over 15 years ago and use it each year to start seedlings. It is fun to start seedlings and pick out unusual varieties to grow. You always have many extra plants to share with others. These bulbs work the best. We've tried others, but they don't seem to work as well with growing plants.

Thought I'd go cheap last year and bought hardware store "best for plants" flourescents. OUCH!! Puny, sad-looking seedlings. Gave those to Goodwill and will never stray from proper, light-balanced bulbs like these again. Definately worth the extra money and lasts for 3-5 years (light still comes on but noticeable decrease in intensity after a few years- demote them to regular shop lights then to get a few more years of use out of them but get new bulbs for your growstands.
Packed very safely for shipping. My four-year-old made stickhorses out of the tubes they came in.
