Here’s a simple way to start a kitchen or herb garden. Each kit includes eight canisters of seed, planting instructions, eight 4" wooden markers, and a pencil. The Kitchen Garden Kit has select varieties of carrot, cucumber, gourmet lettuce, tomato, pole bean, pepper, radish, and basil seeds; the Culinary Herb Kit has sage, English thyme, dill, oregano, cilantro, garlic chives, Italian parsley and basil seeds.

We got this as an early Mother's Day gift for my mother-in-law. She called to say that she had just been thinking of gearing up to start her vegetable garden when this arrived in the mail. I think it's a good mix of vegetable seeds but would be even better if more varieties were packaged in this way.

I bought this to use as a raffle prize for the Master Gardener Fall Seminar. It might be a bit too basic and simple, but we'll see if there's any interest. Seemed like a good place to start for a beginner.
