This is my first attempt at growing potatoes in pots/bags, and I'm pleased to report that several sturdy plants have already appeared. They were a bit pricey for potatoes, but the "box of chocolates" packaging was very appealing. Am looking forward to the flowers and the crop.

Comments about Flowering Potatoes:

I have a large roof-top deck garden in the city. I had never thought about growing potatoes until my 7 y/o saw the catalog and wanted to try. We bought the flowering potatoes and the grow bag. They were easy to plant and maintain. The plants themselves and the flowers were very attractive which is important to me given my limited space to garden. We got a huge yield of potatoes just from the one container. My son was thrilled. I just ordered more for this year's garden.

Comments about Flowering Potatoes:

I bought these potatoes last year and planted them in the potatoe bags just as a fun experiment. Boy was I shocked when I dumped the potatoe bag into the wheel barrel to collect the harvest. It was like treasure hunting. One potatoe weighed in at almost 2lbs. I will be buying them again. Word of advice block them off - I had to fend off the rabbits and the ground hogs which love to eat the foliage.

I harvested & was so surprised at the number & size of the spuds. Its perfect! The flowering potatoes were pretty too. VERY TASTEY varieties. My husband thought this was a dumb idea - until the harvest rolled in & we baked the Cranberry Red potatoes - the best he has ever tasted. He wants me to plant 3 more bags next season. Great products!! Flowering potatoes & the potatoe bags

Comments about Flowering Potatoes:

Last year was the first time I've grown potatos, and I loved these. It was great to try several varieties at once, and the flowers were beautiful. They even gave a surprise second harvest -- must have left a couple in the ground last year, and they sprouted very early as "volunteers" this spring but still did really well.

The color, size, quality and condition of these seed potatoes was incredible! Each type of potato also came with a very impressive, stamped organic certificate from the State of Maine. (The packaging material was also so nice that I almost hated to take the potatoes out of their cute box to plant them.) Following the supplied instructions, I planted these potatoes in two potato bags about two and a half weeks ago. Since planting, each seed potato has sent up multiple, sturdy stems. I can't wait for the harvest!

I saw the picture on line of the beautiful blooms in the potato bag and wanted to add that 'picture' to my garden. Frequently, it doesn't work out like the picture, but in this instance it's EXACTLY like the picture! It's beautiful AND I will be getting potatoes for eating! I'm kind of an instant gratification sort and this combo is all that with easy to follow instructions! I recommend your site ALL the time!

The potatoes came with certification, and colorful postcards about their properties. All sprouted quickly. I bought a larger bag of seed potatoes at the store but took these back, because there was not the variety of types, and they were big and had to be cut. These were planted just as I got them. I am using the potatoe grow bags from Gardners supply and these seem to be working well. Will have to see what the harvest brings!

Comments about Flowering Potatoes:

It's still the beginning of the season, so I can't comment on outcome, but I have high hopes for these. Incredibly cute presentation--small box arrived at planting time, with lovely postcards of the potato varieties and recipes included. Instructions were very helpful and confidence-building. The seed potatoes were smaller than I had anticipated, so I didn't cut any, planting each of 12 whole into fabric potato bins. So far, so good. My only confusion was that the diagram that indicated which potato variety was which didn't align perfectly with the potatoes in the box--so I took an educated guess, and the adventure continues!

Comments about Flowering Potatoes:

This is my third year growing the flowering potatoes in Gardener Supply's fabric potato bags. The bags work great however you have to adapt the instructions a little (mounding the dirt several times). You have to remember to leave room for adding dirt in order to keep mounding around the potato stem. The flowers are beautiful and the vines are prolific. The first year I used all the potatoes and had a small harvest and reduced growth due to crowding. The second year using 6 potatoe bags, I planted three segments with eyes in each bag and had a harvest of about 20 pounds per bag. I gave away several of the seed potatoes as a result. The bags make it easy - at harvest time, dump the bag into a kiddie plastic swimming pool to get to the plentiful potatoes.

Comments about Flowering Potatoes:

I bought some of these last year and grew them in fresh soil in potato bags (also available from Gardeners' Supply). The plants were big and healthy and the flowers were gorgeous in summer, then after the top growth had died off in autumn I harvested about 8-10 tasty potatoes from each plant. I love home grown potatoes and I especially like these because of the variety of colors (both flowers and potatoes). I have just ordered another set for this season.

So far these potatoes have been amazing. Within a week of planting I had lots of leafing shoots, and now the garden trug I put them in is overflowing with greenery and blossoms are just around the corner.

It doesn't get much better than that. These are definitely on my list for next year.
