The secret to growing stocky, vigorous seedlings that thrive when transplanted outdoors is a strong root mass. The tapered cells of these trays are 50% deeper than similar seed trays which means more room for root mass.

I didn't want to spend the money, but after comparing the growth of seedlings with another seed starting kit I am glad I made this purchase!

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Great product. All my seedlings will be a great size before transplanting out into the garden! Plenty of room for roots to establish themselves! Worth the initial investment for many years of use.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
These are very sturdy. Will last for many years. Washable. Good value.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I use this tray to transplant little seedlings, let it grow for a month or so before transplant it to the garden. Very good quality, size is right, and can be used over and over again.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
When APS units were first introduced, I did not like the fact that they were constructed with styrofoam cells. Those were hard to clean and seemed to attract mold. These sturdy deep cells can be washed easily (even in the dishwasher!) and have more room for planting medium. I love them!
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Good value.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
These are much sturdier than the usual trays and will likely be reusable for many years. The hole in the bottom is large enough to push out the seedings with a finger. I covered the holes with a small square of paper towel when I filled the trays with germinating mix. These trays are smaller in width and height than usual (which worked out better for me anyway), but they have significantly deeper cells giving more room for the roots to spread out. Transplanting was much easier this year.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
At first effort this is my preferred starting system. Time will tell.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I was totally impressed. These trays are made of tuff stuff. They should be around a long time
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I've used these trays now for years and just bought another one. I start all of my seeds in these and have thrown away all of the other trays I had in my supplies. I don't believe I'll have the need to purchase any other seed starting supplies in the future.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
used these for years

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
the trays have large holes in the bottom but that is ok. I put 100% pure cotton round pads in the bottom. you can buy at [...] a hundred count for under two dollars. they are real thin and about the size of a half dollar. women use them to remove makeup. to remove the plants just push your finger up through the bottom and it comes out easy. also I just leave the cotton on the roots and plant it with it still on. the roots grow through it.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
These are the only trays I use to propagate our blueberry cuttings. These is either my 3rd or 4th purchase...I gave some of this purchase as a gift to another avid gardener friend. Absolutely love 'em.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I have been using these for several years. It is a quality product that will last.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I used my deep root tray with a glass 9x13 and elevated out of water and used the grow mat and it worked fine since the greenhouse is no longer available. Held plenty of water for once a week watering and the plants grew great. Because of some post about how the seedlings were hard to remove from the deep root green house (no longer for sell), I used a thin strip of paper towel to help hold the dirt in when seed first started and also to help me remve plants when ready to plant in garden. The strips of paper towel worked perfectly and the plants came out with roots growing through the paper towel and no falling apart of the dirt when pushing out of the cells. I just wish they would bring the greenhouse back.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Never tried anything like this. I will get more!!!
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
This is the only product I now use to propagate my blueberry cuttings. With just 10 trays I'm sticking 400 cuttings. Have purchased the other sizes for larger cuttings and/or seed starting. Love 'em!
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
These are great trays. Durable, reuseable, made of hard plastic. Wells are deep enough to grow deep roots, even on quick growing seeds like cucumbers and zinnias. Only downside is that they are not the same size as standard 10x20 flats, so you have to create your own catch pan. I'd definitely recommend them.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Excellent product
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Very good for starting seeds. Can reuse time and again as they are very well made and have deep enough wells to allow good root system.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I have started seed in these and the seeds seem to like them. So do I!
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I love that this system will last a long time!
This is my first year using it and the seedlings are healthy and beautiful and transplant easily.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I use this with the APS system. Love the sturdiness and ease of cleaning. At the moment I have tomato transplants in there. Everything is doing really well.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
This is the sturdiest seed starting tray that I have. I should never have to replace it. It is used in the deep-root system, but it also fits in the 13 x 15 Perma-nest trays. It is also easy to clean. I haven't tried running it through the dishwasher (for sterilizing), but I may try just to see how it works.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
These are the perfect propagating trays. I have all three sizes; use them exclusively. Others are flimsy, crack, difficult to clean. Love 'em.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
This is a heavy-duty product at a great price. It was also very easy to remove my starts by pushing them up through the hole in the bottom using my finger.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I have used this product for one year and am using it again this spring. It is the best product yet for starting garden seeds. The plants have great root systems ready to plant in the garden. I have found it to be durable and easy to clean up...ready for next spring. I will use this product over and over.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
These are much sturdier than the Styrofoam ones I was using and clean up much better.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
It doesn't come with a bottom tray, so you need to have one that is big enough for it. Otherwise the product seems to be great.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Very Sturdy! I know I'll be able to use this for many seasons to come and plan to order more. Very happy with this product
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
These seed-starting trays are very durable and clean-up great! I prefer the 40-cell tray and use it in combination with the APS bottom trays and wicking mats.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
These trays are very sturdy and well sized, for use year after year. I use the 15 cell size for "up-potted" pepper plants.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I purchased this to increase the seed production in the matching system. I was not disappointed. The nice thing is it is easy to switch out the sizes. And, if you have one up and running that is ready to take out and harden to the elements you can just pop it out. Then it is ready to start another tray.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Great for Starting Seeds, Very Healthy Stocky Plants

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I use these to transplant the petunia and impatient seedlings to from the seed trays--I'll never use those flimsy thin 4 or 6 cell trays again. These are reusable, washable and very sturdy.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I used them for transplanting seedlings after starting w/ the APS system. This tray sits on the same capillary mat and works well.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
This tray is so nice and strong. Easy to fill and will be easy to clean. Also can remove the seedlings very easily.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I bought this product after I had started my seeds, but I used the larger celled tray to transplant my tomato seedlings. I have more tomatoes than cells, so some stayed in regular pots. The 30 I planted into the 2 seed starting trays with the self-watering base are much larger then the others. I am very impressed with the results. I can't wait to see how it works when I start seeds in the trays and use the dome tops.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Love the thicker walls; others I've used are thin and tend to crack/break after a few uses. These will last for years. I use for starting seeds and they're GREAT for cuttings.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I transplant all my warm season vegetables and bedding plants into these trays. They develop an incredible root system. I start my seedlings under florescent lights here in Chicago, and these trays are real space savers, allowing me to fit many times more plants under the lights.
Finally I hate to use flimsy pots that are hard to recycle. These are made of thick plastic and have lasted me 3 seasons so far without any signs of failing.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I absolutely love this product. I purchased 3 of the Deep Root systems and decided I had to have more. The seeds I started in this unit are doing better than the ones started in other containers, including one I purchased for another mail order company. The only thing I do not like is that the system only comes with the 15 cell tray. This tray is very good but I only use it for cuttings and I mostly grow seeds. I wish you had your choice of 15, 28 or 40 cell tray when you purchased the unit.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
These are great for getting those seedlings started and will last for years to come.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
The product is great. [...]
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Easy to sterilize. Seedling pop out easily.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
This tray is a lot better quality than I expected. It's made of heavy duty plastic and will definately be able to use this over and over again throughout the years.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I like this tray better than the 15 cell tray because I have more room to start more seeds. Plus I can start more than one type of seed as long as the germination requirements are similar. I went ahead and ordered the 40 cell tray to give it a test (maybe start some carrots).

Deep wells with sturdy walls.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Best for starting onions, I found. Good and sturdy...will last many, many seasons.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Starting seeds in my product. Price affordable
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
These deep root cells on top of a capillary mat give roots the opportunity to grow abundantly and without stress. The consistency in their moisture level and depth of the cell makes all the difference. I'm so glad I ordered these for this year's seed starting bonanza. I'm very pleased with the results.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I can't wait to fill these trays, should do it today really. I plant many kinds of heritage tomatoes and in NW MI, they do need a start indoors in order to flourish. My Heritage tomatoes are my babies. They will love their new nursery.
Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
These are not flimsy. They are sturdy and very well made and can be reused year after year. A finger sized hole in the bottom of each cell makes seedling removal a snap.
These trays also make it east to move seedling in and out of doors when it’s time to harden them off.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I plan to order more of these and use them with my APS starters. Better root system with these and far more durable than the styrofoam APS starting trays.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Great stand-alone (i.e., doesn't need any tray for support). I also use for larger cuttings. Quality product.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
I have been using the APS 24 systems for at least 15 years. However cleaning the styrofoam trays has been a somewhat onerous task. I have switched to using the deep rooted trays with the APS system and cleaning has become significantly easier. I also find that the the deep rooting trays provide room for a larger root system which keeps my plants healther for transplanting outside. I would definitely recommend using these trays.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
Provides good support for seeds as they germinate. The flimsy little seedling containers I have had disturb the roots when picked up. This one is a heavy and dense plastic that will really last.
This is perfect for dropping seeds into, and letting them harden before transferring to a 3 inch pot.

Comments about Deep-Root Seedstarting Trays:
cells are wide and deep so roots do not circle in the bottom. Great for starting seeds of prairie grasses and wildflowers. Are very sturdy and transport easily. Can be placed in shoe trays to keep cells moist. They wash and store easy for next year.
