Husband uses this lashing cord to makie small elegant bamboo fences around various garden beds to keep family dog out - adda a lovely, almost tranparent barrier as well as Asian look. Also makes various bamboo designs with wrapped lashing cords to make small entrances into said gardens. A terrific product!
Comments about Lashing Cord:
It ties well without slippage because of wax. Could be slightly thicker and would be a little easier to work with. Still does a more than adequate job.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
Used to build bamboo trellis and support for tomato/dalia plant.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I used this to tie the deer fence product to bamboo poles to make a fence to surround my vegetable garden to keep the deer and other critters out of the garden. Used it last year and again this year when I enlarged the garden. It works great because it has a wax coating and does not slip.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I watched a You Tube video on bamboo lashing and followed those instructions with the waxed cord and it worked very well.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
Working the pieces of string through everything was difficult. The zip-ties work a lot better and faster. I used the cord to bring the reed panels together. I attached the panels to a chain link fence with the zips.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I bought it because I also bought some bamboo fencing and got the impression I needed to have this product to make it work. I could have used other products that would have done the job less expensively. Having said this, I did use this item and it worked well. But as I said, a less expensive product also got the job done.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
We used the lashing to put up fencing and it really holds a not! Could be used for sewing, crafts and many other garden uses! Cool stuff!
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I used this cord to lash together a simple bamboo fence to contain tall zinnias, cosmos, etc. Easy to use, but some instruction on proper lashing technique would have been appreciated. The cord is tough and sticky enough that it is easy to bind bamboo tightly; however, simple knots tend to slip.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
Perfect for lashing split bamboo or bamboo reeds fences
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I love the lashing cord..It was hard to find but I finally found it at Gardener's Supply.. Thanks guys!
Comments about Lashing Cord:
My project is making bamboo lattices to hang in window openings of a Japanese tea house. This waxed cord allows for a tight connection for pieces of bamboo being tied together. It took only a couple of tries (with help of an online video) to get the technique right. The end result was not only sturdy but attractive. Thanks for having this item. I had looked all over the stores in my area AND on the internet for Black Waxed Lashing Cord and I found it here at Gardener's Supply.[...]Here is how to tie bamboo together. Short video:[...]
Comments about Lashing Cord:
This lashing cord works as described. Holds up to environment without showing indication of pending failure.
This is my second order. Used for lashing together outdoor bamboo structures.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I used this cord with the bamboo poles I also ordered to construct trellises in my garden. It works very well because it is coated with a waxy sticky substance that adheres to the bamboo and to itself. However, that substance makes it rather difficult to work with. I also discovered that, if left in the sun, the waxy coating will melt right off the roll. So, it must be kept in a cool place, even when you're actively working with it. I also wish it came in a color that would blend in with the bamboo. The black sort of sticks out. However, despite it's unpleasant characteristics, I would recommend it to anyone working with bamboo, because it does exactly what it was designed to do very well.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
This appears extremely similar to that used in Japan to tie Bamboo.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I purchased this lashing cord along with a supply of bamboo poles to build a bird / squirrel screen over my raised bed gardens. The cord is super easy to use, holds is place (I lashed everything alone - so this was important) and has held strong with no slippage or slack.
The one con I found: leaving the roll of cord in the sun in Texas during the summer is NOT a good idea! The cord got a little soft - but is still useable.
EXCELLENT PRODUCT!
Comments about Lashing Cord:
This is good lashing cord. A little "sticky" to use - but this is what makes it not slip once you have it tied.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
Easy to use and great looking lashing for bamboo. Made terrific fences.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I'm using the bamboo cord for two primary purposes. I've been building deer fences in the Triangle region of NC, and have used bamboo as a decorative (not structural) component in several fences, and have used the cord to lash bamboo. I'm also building the grandkids a playground/tree house extravaganza (see [@]), and am integrating bamboo into it. Your cord is great!
Comments about Lashing Cord:
This stuff is a little difficult to work with. It has to be peeled off the roll and can be tricky to tie. But it seems very durable and holds a knot well.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
Used this for lashing bamboo to make a trellis. Worked beautifully, the lashing is strong, flexible are really easy to work with.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
This is actually one of the first items I have bought from this company that didn't meet my standards. The first time I tried to tie this "black dental floss" around a bamboo pole and fence, it tore!
Comments about Lashing Cord:
Good product, it is black so it stands out when using it on bamboo. Does seem to hold things in place well, I'm pleased with that.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I couldn't find it in the store, so I bought it online. I only wish it didn't cost so much.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
Excellent product, once uses are found for it.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
I just love this bamboo lashing, it works like a charm to hold together tightly whatever bamboo structures you are constructing in your garden (tee-pees, fences, etc.), the wax coating holds the lashing not only to the bamboo but to itself, it makes it so easy for one person to set structures up. And and it is indestructible, unlike regular twine which disintigrates in a relatively short period of time.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I ordered this to attach bamboo fencing (also purchased here) to a metal fence. It broke every time I tied and tightened it. I doubled it, but it seemed like it would wear through. We used zip ties (electrical supply) instead. Not sure what I'd use this cord for, but maybe it will come in handy.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
Making trellises is a lot of work - having the right product really helps!
Comments about Lashing Cord:
Good visually, but not too strong.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
This is my second order and I love this stuff. IT works great, is durable and I found the roll lasted a long time even though I use it all the time. For tying things together outside, it's great because it lasts a LONG time. I can only think of a couple times where it degraded before I had to cut it off what I made. Great stuff. Yes, it's sticky, but that's the point. You're going to wash your hands anyway, right?
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I've tried a lot of different strings and cords for tying together trellises and bamboo and didn't know this waxed stuff existed until recently. It saved me some headaches; it grips while you're tying things together so you don't have to pull the string taut the entire time.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
My lashing cord arrived and I set it on my potting bench. Two days later I was going to use it, but it was sticky - the wax coating had melted and sealed the cord to itself. I haven't attempted to use it since and have gone back to my old trellis twine. I'll try refrigerating it before attempting to use it again, but this seems like more trouble than its worth.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
the only cord that didn't loosen or slip from the bamboo poles, works great. I used it to secure the wooden tiki torches to my deck too.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
Love this cord for bamboo, second time I've purchased this. Went without for several months using other types, they just didn't perform.
Comments about Lashing Cord:
I bought the lashing cord to tie up willow fencing. Was way too flimsy, too hard to thread through fencing and tie on stakes. Need a needle with a dull point to handle it.
So, I bought regular black plastic ties. Worked very well, very strong and easy to use, easy to pull tight to stay.
Probably a good cord for something else.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
I used this cord for lashing bamboo together to make a trellis. It worked really well. Initially i tried to use normal nylon cord, which was very difficult. This was really easy to use. The cord doesn't go as far as one would think though. I thought that i would have more than enough for my project but i ran out 3/4 of the way. The picture seems to show more than what was on my roll. And now that i have to purchase another,[...] But it worked well.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
The great thing about it - is it's easy to use, you can press it in place until your hands are free to tie it.
The con issue it that your hands get sticky using it. But I like it very much, it's thin and strong and the wax coating makes it easy to use.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
Sold and used to lash bamboo together. Sticky, awkward to use, leaves your finger sticky and stained, get gummy when hot - but STILL WORKS PERFECTLY! I tried a few other lashing materials (regular twine etc) - not even close to the black twine in terms of tightness, holding-power etc. If you are even thinking of building bamboo trellis' or other items, you need this stuff.

Smaller in size than what I expected, but don't let the size be a factor. It is strong and easy to use.I am happy with the product and will be ordering more for a Trellis to my herb garden.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
Before I bought this product to use with the bamboo fencing, I read some reviews. Given the comments about how harsh it could be to my hands, I pulled out a pair of disposable latex gloves to give some protection. It took me a few minutes to stop grabbing the ends of the glove fingers instead of the cord, but after that it was a really good solution. I thought the cord might stick to the gloves but it didn't and my hands were fine.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
I am making my own bamboo fences and used cotton string the first round. BAD IDEA. I was ecstatic to find this product online which allows for a tight/solid knot. Am reworking all my fences now. Well worth the money.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
This waxed cord has lasted over 5 years so far, on bamboo supports I built for climbing vines. The only slight drawback I have found is that the waxy coating on the twine is, well, waxy. So my fingers get a bit sticky when I work with it, and it gathers bits of chaff and dust in my tool basket. But it is lovely for building anything with bamboo -- easy to bind tightly, adheres well to itself and obviously, very long-lasting. Amazing stuff IMO.

A little expensive it you don't need much - hopefully buying it once will last a number of seasons. Great for making bamboo trellis/tepees. The wax coating makes it so easy to use - no slipping.

I used this black cord to secure heavy-duty black plastic netting to fence posts. It is easy to use and it is barely noticeable. Where else could you find black cord?

Comments about Lashing Cord:
Inconspicuous to look at, easy to handle, and lasts better than twine. I use it for lashing poles in the garden, hanging Christmas wreaths outside, anywhere durability matters.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
I primarily used the lashing cord to secure the split bamboo fencing to an existing wire fence. I have some panels that have been up for 5 years with the same lashing cord, surviving all sorts of mid-Atlantic weather including snow, ice, and storms. I also used this cord to secure a screen to the railing in a loft area to protect the cats. What I like about the cord is that it supports very tight knots so it doesn't come undone easily. The waxy coating makes it weatherproof and cats are less likely to chew through it.

Comments about Lashing Cord:
I have tried many different types of natural twine for my trellis grids and they have all snapped late in the season under the weight of fruit-laden plants. This black cord is very strong and holds up all season. I have used it for the past three years and it has performed consistently well.

noneI have a 1 acre bamboo grove and I make items for friends and myself. I would love to see you promote bamboo more. it is here to stay in the USA and will get more and more popular.
Some of the items I've made:
1. Stair rails
2. Wind bells
3. Small tables for holding potted flowers
4. Bird Feeders
Your lashing cord is working great.
