Used to make extra long raised beds -- made them very study with NO wood bowing. Why settle for just 4 x 4 raised beds -- go 4 x 10 with these connectors in the middle. You will not be disappointed.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

These connectors are a GREAT solution to quickly install raised beds. I've just installed them but I expect them to be sturdy and long lasting. I made beds that required the inline connectors. The only improvement I can imagine would be stakes to anchor the inline connectors to prevent them from bowing. Even without staking these are excellent products!!

I would absolutely buy these again!

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

We wanted to build 16.5" high, 3' wide and 6' long raised beds for our preschoolers. These in-line connectors enabled us to build to our exact specifications. We just filed down the exposed corners since we thought they were a bit too sharp for our preschoolers. We now have 3 raised beds in our school garden that our children, ages 2 through 5, can easily access. The 3' x 6' size can easily accommodate many plants and many children.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

We used these (8") connectors, along with the corner pieces, to frame our 4' x 32' vegetable gardens. So far, the rabbits are unable to get in, although we will still line them with chicken wire. We used pine boards with a coat of weather proofing as the sides. They were easy to assemble and we had the project done in a few hours. They look fantastic. After just wire to protect the garden in previous years, we love the more finished look these bring to it. No more driving over the chicken wires with the lawn tractor! We are hoping that they weather well - they seem to be of a very good quality metal. We are very pleased!

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

Super easy to build a nice looking garden. I built a 4x8 vegetable garden that has 2 levels (requiring 6" corners, 6" connectors, and 12" corners). I used the connectors to make the "step" to the next level of garden look better. The connectors could have been better designed to allow for this modification, but looks great regardless. Really excited by how it turned out. Looks so much cleaner than my previous raised bed. Neighbors have even stopped and commented - a great thrill for a new gardener.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

We built a raised garden bed for our preschool as a seasonal science project. The extenders helped us to be able to make the bed longer.

The only down side to these pieces is that I would have liked to have been able to order taller pieces to make a taller garden box. The tallest they sell is 12 inches. I would have liked a box 2-3 feet tall.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

These are great for making raised garden beds of any size. The only issue I had was I made a multiple level bed and used 2 6" boards. so to have a couple extra screw holes in the middle would have helped secure the boards better. Other than that they worked wonderfully.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

I'm installing raised borders in my vegetable garden this year and I looked around for a quality product before buying these. I'm very happy with this purchase. These in-line connectors installed just as described, midway on sides over 4 ft., strenghtening the long spans. They are nice quality, sturdy and easy to assemble. They come with all the hardware, just need a drill for pilot holes and a screw gun. Now my garden is neat and orderly, and the soil, compost and mulch I will add later will stay in the beds and off the paths.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

I built all new raised beds using these and built them into 3 different sized boxes, all connected. It was so easy and they look so good. I would note that they recommend using the in line connectors if more than 4 feet but that seemed to make it flimsy thus if using a 12 or 10 in board I made my boxes the full 5 feet or more without cutting it up and adding the in lines and it was perfectly stable even with dirt in it!

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

A much better alternative than some of the other linking choices out there, and I have used some of those others. A bit pricey but attractive and work well. Please note that you will need the stakes to anchor these as these only joint the composite lumber. Easy to install. Given four stars solely due to the final price when the stakes are added into the puurcahse cost but, if you are going to use the composite lumber anyway do it right and use these as well.

Cons:

Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

We purchased enough corners and in-line connectors to build three large beds. They went together easily and look great, BUT... when we went to purchase the wood, the 2x's we purchased did not fit. Not wanting pressure treated wood for a vegetable garden, which the instructions also say to avoid, we went to a mill to buy rough cut, but it was too wide. It was explained to us that the wood you buy in [...], etc. is pressure treated and close to 1 1/2" wide, which is how wide the connectors are. The mill shaved off enough to make them fit, meaning a second trip to the mill. I was surprised that we needed to take this extra step and recommend calling ahead to make sure your supplier has the right width.

I used a combination of 2 levels of 8" connectors and corners, plus the stakes to secure them together, to make a nice looking 12ft x 3ft raised garden.

These are on the expensive side for what I wanted, but they look really nice. You can save some cash by using pine or fir for the boards and throwing on a nice looking sealant.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

My soil is poor so I decided to use a raised bed with better soil for veggies. The garden is growing well. However, I decided to increase it in size about a month after the original installation of the connectors. Unfortunately, the screws were rusted and that made it difficult to remove the screws. For the price it would be helpful to have rust resistant screws.

I got this for my veggie garden and I love it! The only downfall to it is, I decided to go with composite decking material so it would last a long time and no maintenance required. Comments about In-Line Connectors:

Created two 6'x12' (12" high) raised beds using composite lumber (decking trim in 12"x12' size cut to order). DH appreciated the pre-drilled holes in the connectors b/c we were shocked at how heavy the connectors and corners were, especially since they're supposed to be aluminum. (Hopefully this means they'll last as advertised). One downfall was the slots for boards are uniformly 2 inches wide and by using composite wood, we had to cut 1" shims (6 inches long) to fill in the gap. Once done, we slid shim and composite together through the slots and drilled them into place. So far, so VERY good. Definately can hold 6' long board but don't go much longer or you'll get bowing. Best corners & connectors on the market.

I used this item to create raised garden beds in my yard. These are well made, very sturdy and should last a lifetime. I checked other sites and similar products are plastic at a price that is not much cheaper. Get these and you will not be disapointed. Couple these with good quality lumber and you will have a bed that lasts.

I used this product to create a wood border around an existing flower bed in front of my home. I used it on 3 sides to replace a rotting lawn border. The fourth side is bordered by my house. It looks much more attractive. I live in northern most Maine and it has not overwintered yet, so we'll have to wait and see how that goes.

I have arthritis so my husband has built raised beds to make it easier for me to garden. With the raised beds and the deluxe tractor scooter gardening is so easy for me now! My husband was able to easily put together our raised bed (24 inches high using the 12" raised bed stakes) by himself in one afternoon.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

I didn't notice from the catalog photo or description that the inline connectors have a slot for a perpendicular board. My boards are 8 feet long, twice the recommended length, and 12 inches tall, and there's no bowing. These aren't inexpensive, but are well made and worth the money. I did wish they had some type of spike on the bottom to keep them in place, but stakes or rebar work just fine.

This makes our vegetable garden look nice and neat. Garden is located in middle of lawn for sun. We trenched the 2 x 10 size a couple of inches to keep out the grass and hold in the compost. Plus the sides are high enough to keep out the mower clippings. We used the center of the connectors (did not use caps provided) to hold stakes for chicken wire to keep the rabbits and our dachshunds from juming into the garden and digging around.

We used these to build raised beds for an herb garden. They made the job quick and easy and gave it a professional look! I highly recommend using these if you are building raised bed planters. We used composite lumber, couldn't find 2 x 6 but were able to find 1 x 6 composite decking. But we put in some nuts at the end of the bolts that were provided and it all fit perfectly. We also purchased and used the corner pieces to build our raised bed. I also like that we could add another level with these if we decide at a later time. Will try to add photos.

These were very easy to put together. All you need is the correctly sized wood and a drill with a screw head bit. I also used the in line connectors and recommend them. I partially pre-assembled these in sections before laying it on the ground so that I could make sure the walls would end up being level; then I screwed them together. I also used some name brand water sealer to pretreat the wood because I couldn't find cedar boards in my area. You can find an all natural water sealer that won't harm the plants (or you)!

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

The only thing I can say that's remotely negative, is if you are replacing an existing bed, you must dig a bit of dirt out so you can reach the lower screw hole in the connector. And, using a drill would be out of the question for the lower holes if you have established plants roots close to the edge. Otherwise, a great idea, looks wonderful and you can use lumber you buy, which keeps the costs way down from buying a whole set-up.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

Combined with the matching bed corners, these in-line connectors allow you to lengthen and strengthen your raised beds by creating intermediate cross-pieces. You can build raised beds with these and your own lumber in just a few minutes! We've built over 20 raised beds using these connectors and matching corners and our own local white cedar lumber. The screws they give you are junk; be prepared with good galvanized or stainless steel screws. You'll need two screws for each board end attached.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

I built four 16foot by 5 foot raised beds and the connectors were very good way to build the long raised beds without having the wood bow in the middle. product is very good design. My biggest complaint was with the screw supplied with the product, they were too soft for the fir 2 by 10 I used, and required pilot holes, also the hole in the metal contacted the screw and made it much more difficult to screw in with a 19.2 volt drill, which are powerful.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

We installed several of these for a 18' long, 9' wide by 1' deep raised perennial bed. When researching their use, I thought I read that they could be placed a maximum of every 4.5' which is what we did. We used pressure treated lumber that is 1" thick. The connectors have screws on the inside but need more support on the outside. The bed is bowing out where the connectors are. I would recommend them if you go by the 4' rule or less between connectors. I would like to see more more support to them.

Bottom Line:

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

I love these connectors. They look nice and keep the wood sides of my raised bed intact and straight. The only problem I have found is they are too narrow to slide over ends of the cedar I used (construction grade 2 x 10). I had to plane off about 1/8 - 1/4 inch at each end to make the end fit into connector, so the job which would have been very simple became a lot more complicated and time consuming.

We constructed a custom raised bed to fit over a flower bed at the edge of our patio. This connect kit took all the guess work out of construction and is so solid, we can't believe how much growing space we have gained.

The lumber yard cut the boards and we brought them home and put the bed together in the garage and carried the pieces to the site and popped it together and filled and planted. Love this!!! We're using these to form a rabbit proof vegetable garden in our back yard. The in-line connectors were quick and easy to use. Instructions were clear, and all necessary parts and accessories were included. We drove metal posts where the connectors are placed, put down the connectors and wood, put the screws in, put up the wire, and stapled the rabbit proof wire on top of the wood. We're looking forward to lower blood pressure this summer due to the rabbits being a non-factor in our gardening endeavors.

For a fence - this looks great.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

In theory, this product is great - it's supposed to make constructing attractive raised bed gardens a snap. These connectors are supposed to fit easily over standard milled lumber, just screw the connectors into the wood and you're all set to go right?

Wrong, wrong, wrong. What they don't tell you is that the interior of these connectors is 1.5 inches, NOT two inches. Is there standard milled lumber that's 1.5 inches wide? Not that I know of. I was making a raised bed garden much like the one pictured in the catalog, with a double height center section and a single height section on each side of the center (i.e. three "containers" in all). This meant that I had 14 pieces of lumber. These (along with the corner connecters) were backordered, so while I was waiting for my connectors, I bought my lumber (10X2), had it cut, and painted it to my desired color. When these connectors came, I was really upset to find that they did not, in fact, fit over standard milled lumber. Rather, I got to cut 1/2" wide notches on each side of each piece of lumber. Not being a big powertool type, I did this with a hand saw. This "notching" project took me about 12 hours. Once this was done, it took me another 6 hours or so to complete the construction process. This is not an easy product to use.

The end product looks very nice, but if I understood the effort that was going to be involved, I probably would have just tried to make my bed without these connectors. I was quite disappointed with the completely inaccurate description of the product.

I live on bedrock with only an inch or two of good soil, so I need raised beds in order to do any planting. The raised bed inline connectors have enabled me to build several large beds in my back yard for vegetables, herbs and flowers. These connectors, together with the raised bed corners make it easy to design the size and type of beds that work in my yard.

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

First check for availability in your area of types of wood to use with this product. Not all are available in all parts of the USA.

I made the 2-tier but made it 4x20 (4x8 with center board for support, 4x4 double height, 4/8 with center board). It is perfect for my chosen location. One long section holds my herbs plus 2 pepper plants, the center has the tomatoes with basil to ward of pests, and the other long section has cukes & squash. Just enough for me & my guy!

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

combined with pivoting connectors (a must!) I designed a custom bed to fit a site with very specific needs. I used 12" high pressure treated wood to make a deep woodland shade garden. Without these 12" connectors this project would be much more difficult. Connectors appear very strong and should be able to hold the large amount of damp soil required for this bed. Would purchase these again.

I decided to take my first stab at building a raised vegetable garden but am not the most handy person in the world. This product made quick and easy work of the task. It was extremely easy to use. Since my planting bed is 12 feet long, I used these to ensure the wood did now bow out. I could not be more pleased!

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

We used these in conjuction with the raised bed corners to make a larger vegetable garden. They work great and are easy to use. We have a smaller flower bed which we built in 2003 using the corners and the corners have not deteriorated in any way in the last 6 years. We live in the northeast and leave them out all winter so that is pretty impressive. We expect these to hold up just as well as they seem to be made with the same high quality.

We live in AZ and decided to try making raised beds this year due to the soil. We purchased all the materials from Gardner's Supply Company to make the raised beds and can't even express how great the products are! They [...]were very easy to put together (we are very challanged when it comes to "making things" and often have to pay someone to do what we can't fighure out) Ourson even commented that he was proud of us because "you guys did it yourselves and didn't have to call someone in to finish the job."

Best Uses:

Bottom Line:

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

This product was used to raise a flower bed in my yard. The angle iron is a great idea and let's you use boards of your choice and assembly is easy. However the center support (shinny metal insert) should be much longer as this was intended to stabalize the bed and it should be pounded into the ground by several inches. That is not possible with the inserts that you mail with the product. I had to use stakes in the center to hold it all together. I would recommend this product based upon design but would tell them about the flaw (stabilization bar).

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

These are designed great to hold together the 2X10's that I used. But since this was used for a "rebuild" of an existing raised garden, the connectors should have the option to be paired up with 18-24" anchors installed inside the frame to help provide anchoring support. I used 1.5" X 1.5" x.25" angle iron, cut to 20"length

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

The brackets are taller than the standard wood/pastic lumber, so adjustments need to be made if stacking (We stacked 3 6x8 boards tall)

Build in place so adjustments can be made as you go.

We used plastic lumber for longevity and thought 6' sections would not bow, but 4' sections would have been better.

These brackets were fabulous and very easy to use.

The finished product looks really nice and will contain our privacy bamboo easily and last for years, maybe even longer than our house.

Our container is approximately 12x2x2

Best Uses:

Bottom Line:

Comments about In-Line Connectors:

I used the in-line raised bed connectors and the raised bed corners to build a 12 feet by 4 feet raspberry bed. I live in CO, where the winds are fast and furious and the burrowing rodents are voracious. I lined the bottom of the bed with quarter-inch hardware cloth to prevent critters from burrowing from the bottom. I used 2"x10" cedar for the frame. The only problem I had was the cedar is actually 2 inches thick, not 1&3/4 or so like most lumber. My husband sawed a slice of wood off of each board to accomodate this problem. This raised bed is extremely sturdy. The metal fittings from Gardener's Supply will keep it in place for a long, long time. The fittings are heavy and unbendable. Now if I can have the patience to wait for the raspberries!
