The little hooks that are supposed to hold these together are simply not up to the job and the metal is very thin. [...]This product quality is not up to Gardener's Supply standards.

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

This is my second raised bed. Last year, I purchased the Forever Raised bed, and while I have been happy with it, I thought the galvanized bed would be easier to assemble --- no hole-drilling, and it was much more affordable. Well, the wire that was supposed to come with the bed was not in the box, so I used florist wire--- it was all I had on hand. I had a VERY difficult time keeping the corners together while pouring in the soil and compost. As it settles, some of the corners have come apart and I can't get them back together. The wire is holding things in place. I should have bought another Forever bed!

A little flimsy, but OK for now
By randy aVerified Purchaser from Fayetteville, NY on 5/1/2011
Pros:
Deep enough, Easy to use
Cons:
The wires were difficult, Used additional stakes
Best Uses:

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

The wires were hard to use. I would recommend a rod with a washer on both ends to hold the sides together. Ihave just installed the items and will need time to see if I am satisfied with my purchase.

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

During initial setup, these planters are tough to move. I threaded some wire through the hinges in order to loosely bind them together. Once I got dirt in them, though, the sides quit wiggling all over the place.

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

These 3x3 beds were easy to put together, but they need some extra support to hold the corners together. We used plastic zip-ties to attach the sides to one another in the corners, and now they are good to go! They are filled with soil and waiting for the weather to warm up to plant. The beds look nice in the yard. Hoping they hold up through years of weather.

Buy the 3' x 3'

Cons:
Flimsy
Best Uses:
Outdoor Plants

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

We bought several of the 3'x6' size and one 3'x3'--all were easy to assemble (especially after assembling the first), and they are very attractive. However, when filling them with dirt we quickly realized that the sides do bow out at the "seam" on the longer side of the 3'x6' size. Unfortunately we didn't realize this until we had the first one filled with dirt, but we were able to support the others while filling without difficulty. After this growing season we're going to have to empty the dirt from the first one and start over--which does not make me happy, but, after all is said and done, I wish I would have bought the 3'x3' size instead because it didn't bow, it's quite sturdy, easier to assemble, looks great, and several of them placed in a pattern out in the yard would have been quite pleasing.

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

I've built many raised beds before from lumber, and your other kits but this is much better. It was simple to assemble and it shouldn't bow on the sides like the plastic one did. The depth is a real plus. I may order another next year.

I liked the idea of galvanized raised beds - they look good and hopefully will weather well in our New England winters. Another plus is that the slugs cannot climb the galvanized sides.

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

Too flimsy and doesn't stay together after you set it up. After the dirt is in it you have to brace it with stakes or supports on the sides or ends. I was expecting better. Sorry, I love the other products I have ordered over the last two years.

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

I bought this raised bed to grow veggies and herbs. This galvanized bed looks cool but taking it out of the box I could tell it was way flimsier then I had thought a steel product would be. This is not farm store quality galzanized steel! I cut myself trying to assemble this, which wasn't hard as much as ackward.

The worst part is the sides bow out when you add dirt. Luckily one side is next to concrete that hold that side together. I had to add bricks to the other side so it would not bow as much. I am also adding concrete pavers around the edge to stabalize the unit.

I am making this work and it is unique but I don't think I would buy this again.

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

Went together real fast and I did not need any help. I put hardware cloth underneath because of the voles. The bed is slightly wider and longer. The hardware cloth came 36 inches wide and 10 feet long, so I had to recut some. That's only because I prepared the sites before the raised beds arrived. Had I waited I could have saved an extra step. I bet this will last a long time.

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

I put this in my front yard for veggies but I think it could also be used for perennials. It seemed flimsier than pictured when I pulled it out of the box but it set up extremely easily. I wouldn't exactly say it sets up without tools as I cut lengths of the wire provided to tie it together.

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

This kit was a disappointment, especially on the cost basis. The product is an import from India. The material is very light weight galvanized steel. The corner connections are primative. So, I don't expect it to last more than a couple of seasons at most.

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

I chose this raised bed kit for quick assembly at my new residence to match the existing landscaping. Assembly was slightly confusing until I actually did it, and then I just wished I had an extra set of hands to hold everything in place. Once filled with soil, the bed is very sturdy and as attractive as I had hoped.

If I were to request anything added to raised bed kits, it would be gopher wire cut to the size of the bed; purchasing small quantities of gopher wire to underlay beds is impossible.

Comments about Galvanized Raised Beds:

With the weather, it's too soon to tell about this raised bed. One is put together, easy, but better with 2 people. There are openings in the corners for weeds to creep in or soil to spill out. 3 rating until I know more.
