With this, I planted my tomatoes before Easter, without hardening them off at all, in Indianapolis, IN. I left it on the plants for the first two weeks and they did great. We even got a frost and this stuff protected everything that was under it.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I have been testing this cloth for the past two winters as an inner layer of a mini-hoop system to protect and extend fall/winter harvest for spinach, beet tops and chards planted in the late fall. Stapled onto a tunnel-shaped frame made with a segment of wire fencing, gathered ends fastened to the soil with earth staples, I then supplement this protection with an outer layer of clear plastic sheeting once the temperatures start dipping into the upper 20s. Growth slows down, but the ground under the tunnel does not freeze and the greens stay viable and extremely flavorful all winter, even under several feet of snow in the northeast.
Both layers, in December.

Allows me to get a really early start in the garden. Protects tender plants. Harvest is much sooner.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
Great cold wind protection. Prevents leaf burn and will protect against frost.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I use it to cover a hooped bench in an unheated greenhouse. So far, it has kept the greens growing under it from freezing even though the outside temperatures have dropped below 20 degrees F.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
Could not find big and long covers in my area.
Tip when placed side by side the wind lifts them---so I stapled them together and it worked!!

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
The garden quilt and fiberglass hoops in combination with the 3'x3' patio planters we bought from you has kept us in salad greens, herbs and carrots without a hitch even in the unseasonably cold weather we've had for the month of December. Usually we don't have below freezing temps here until January but this season it was Thanksgiving....we've had temps in the low 20's which is rare here at any time.
So.....we were as usual covering with old blankets....ugly but it's worked till now! Well after losing all my french beans I decided to be a "real" gardener and bought the Garden Quilt and fiberglass hoops! Very reasonably priced, used clothes pins to fasten & even in strong winds they never came loose. Very sturdy, no rips, tears nor holes. I love this stuff, plants growing like mad. Thanks for great products!!!!
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
This is the second 12x 20' quilt I've ordered and it's so useful I wanted to be sure to have an extra on hand in case the original one I have (will be in it's third season) becomes too torn/small to use. Trying to remove frozen stones (used as weights for edges) will tear fabric. Waiting for a thaw solves this problem. Doubling it will protect cold season veggies to 21 degrees and perhaps even lower temperatures but not cukes or squash.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I used this product to make row covers for my late season broccoli and lettuce. I covered my row covers which I made out of 1/2 in. PVC pipe and secured everything with snap clamps. I was able to do everything just in time before an earlier than expected frost hit my area of North Carolina. My plants were well protected and I believe were saved by covering them with this material. A lot of work and effort would have been wasted had I not covered my plants.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
We live in a four season climate with unexpected low/high flucuations in cusp of seasons. Safety net for unexpected lows. First year to use for extended full garden use- will see. Sweet surprise when used first time and lifted next day to feel the warmth it held.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I attached the fabric to galvanized tubs using magnets, and found it easy to use.
However, after only one night of 29* temp my basil was completely destroyed, my tomato was wilted, and the lemon grass is turning brown. It would have been easier and safer to just move the plants into the house.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
Went to 31 degrees last night - first frost. I only covered one tomato plant, and completely. Everything else die in my raised beds and so did the covered tomato plant. It was just as wilted as the tomato plants I did NOT cover. Maybe my expections are too high to expect tomatoes to survive. Worked well on my cool season crops like lettuce, kale, chard, etc.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
This item does what it says it will do. My tomatoes are still flowering in November in Zone 5. The problem I have is that I have 4x4 raised vegetable containers with PVC piping creating a wagon and the blanket doesn't come in sizes that allow for easy covering. You have to buy the widest quilt and cut it long in order to cover the 4x4 properly and it looks quite messy. Again the quilt is fine but there should be more options on sizing.

My veggies and herbs are tucked in for the winter. I will see how they do since I've never used this before. Hope to continue to get chard, carrots, beets from the garden this winter, and to keep the winter from killing off my herbs.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
you need something to tie it down other than that, it is good quality
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
It's Ok for the price. I have a raised bed system in my yard and I do not know if this will keep the frost off my veggies. I may build a cold frame next year for a greater extension of the season.

I attached mine to 1/2" CPVC pipe with large binder clips and worked great. Two long pieces over the top and cut an extra piece for the end so I could open the end and leave the top on. Tested it on a couple of light frosts. Have not had a hard freeze yet but I anticipate it is going to work great and keep me in greens into the winter.

I use this cover on my raised vegetable beds during the winter. It is the perfect size. I cover PVC pipe with it and use plastic clips to hold it in place. If it freezes, this cover does not stick to plants like plastic. It allows my plants to breathe.

Last winter I set up a portable greenhouse, hoping to protect my Hibiscus from the cold. It didn't protect them very well at all, until I lined it with the Garden Quilt Cover. That was the only thing that saved them. It really works great.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
This product is excellent. We live way up in MTNS, at 9,000 ft above sea level and our weather is changable and it is hard to grow plants, especially veggies, like tomatoes. We put this over a frame and our tomatoes are growing great ! lets in light, keeps out wind, bugs, critters! our tomatoes are getting hugh! thanks to this product.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
Last year I planted about 50 strawberry plants. This year was the first to harvest them. Quite often, after the flowers appeared and the berries started to grow, nighttime temperatures were below 40 degrees. This continued till the 3rd week in May. I just pulled the cover over them, and as of the second week in June, have harvested over 600 berries and am still getting them. A real life (berry) saver!!
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
A fine product which will get more use as my garden moves from spring towards winter. Pros - very useful for protecting plants in the northcountry from the bite of cold. Cons - I am using raised bed gardening technique, so an individual 1'x1' tall plant cover would be more useful than long fabric aimed at row planting. I will attempt to fabricate one myself. My rating will likely improve as I gain more experience with this fall weight garden fabric.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I purchased this product for late spring frost protection. This worked out great. I had a chance to use it this season and it protected the plants I needed to cover. I had to stake it to the ground as a good wind would lift it off. It offered enough protection but was light enough not to damage the young shoots.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
Worked great this spring keeping my veggies protected from frost. allowed me to get a good head start on the season.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
Have used the gardenquilt cover 3 times to cover our flowers due to frost predictions. All 3 times, we received a heavy frost and all flowers and plants were protected. This blanket is large and easy to use. It covered a very large area and protected everything. We just used some bricks and whatever we could find to keep it in place and it worked great!!
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
This is a great product. Last year I used clear plastic for an early season planting and it wasn't as good. Besides this is easier to use when I want to water and also to fold up and put away after the danger of frost. I would definitely purchase it again for my other beds.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
Good width and easily cut to lengths you desire. However, they are not resistant to high winds. We were hit with some relatively high winds (25 to 30 mph)and the fabric begins to tear easily. If you can get a heavier fabric, I think it will be better.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I used the Quilt last night on my strawberries, and it worked great. Dried it off after the sun came up and rolled it up and will use it many more times. Great product.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
WOrked great for making a hoop house over two raised beds get an early start on some greens and salad stuff. I just wish it were a bit wider to accomodater 4 foot wide beds. Also a little awkward to refold to store, but that's really a minor thing.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
Worked well with cold. My plaints did great with no lose. Vegetables were easier to clean with less dust than normal. No insect damage all around great garden tool.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
We needed a frost protection cloth I could cut up to cover the various plants in my yard. I'll be buying another roll of this cloth in case we have serious cold in So. Florida next winter like we did this winter!

I use this product to cover my 300 fall planted pansies in 7 gardens when temperatures are expected to fall below 28 degrees. It goes on and off multiple times between Nov. 1st and March 15th without tearing. This replaced the previous cover purchased from Gardeners Supply a least 8 years ago.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
This garden quilt cover saved my tomatoes. In Texas we never know what the weather will be and I hoped to have a Fall crop of tomatoes. I strung Christmas lights around the plant and wrapped them with this fabric. There was enough left over to cover my lettuce, broccoli and cauliflower too. Everything is still alive and thriving as of Dec 30.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
Will uuse it to prevent frost bite on plants and schrubs in Florida.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
We bought the Garden Quilt to protect our citrus trees--a lemon and two orange trees. We applied them to frames constructed of PVC. There was ample fabric and we like that it is so lightweight and easy to work with, as well as light-permeable. We have used similar products before but yours is of superior quality. We are using small remnants after cutting to cover frost-sensitive perennials and succulents!
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
My salad bed is actually better now, after 2 frosts, than it was in the spring. I got carrots, beets and green onions in very late but with the cover they look like they will mature. I build by won frame from pvc pipe and have heavy clear plastic to cover the bed when the temp. stays low.

I've used these garden quilts for years. I have a greenhouse that I plant lettuce and other greens into the ground early fall. I don't heat the gr. house so need these quilts to lay over the crop to keep from freezing during the winter. Since we can get temperatures below 24 degrees I use three quilts for extra protection.

I used this on my tomato plants in Boulder Colorado. They survived the first couple of frosts in October. However the latest storm of light snow and 19 degrees was too much for it. Worth using to extend the growing season a few weeks.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I ordered the larger size to put over my garden for the early frost here in MN. It is a very large sheet. I was able to cover my tomato cages and lay my pumpkins/squash beside the tomato cages to cover everything each night. It worked great. I also used the metal earth stakes to keep it in place.
I wish I could explain the material. It is not a fabric like bedding or calico. It isn't like a dishtowel. It is like thick fabric paper. (For those that sew it feels like heavy interfacing.)

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I use garden quilt to cover new transplants in the spring and established plants in the fall when frost threatens. It is most effective with plants that can tolerate some frost (lettuce, cabbage) and less effective with plants that tolerate no frost (tomatoes, squash).

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I purchased this item to extend the growing season for my tomatoes. It kept things nice and warm underneath and did the job I intended it for. The only problem I had was with the construction - the fabric was pieced together in order to get the right width and it has already come apart at one of the seams, so I will have to sew it back together.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
It appears to be just what I need to protect some plants that didn't do well last winter. I'll know whether I'm correct when spring comes.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
i have used this to protect my tomatoes from the early Colorado cold. the temperatures are very variable this time of year, so teh quilt has been good to throw on during the cold evenings, but is easily removable to take advantage of the warmer days. The size is larger than i need, so I may cut it into pieces to use in other areas of my yard - perhaps as a temprary cold frame as it gets cooler.

I have built a new raised bed for Fall and Early Spring gardening, specifically lettuce and other greens production. This Row Cover will fit over the hoops and do well for my 4' X 10' foot bed.
It appears to be of substantial weight and should hold up to the outdoor weather.

I use the garden quilt as additional protection during the night on the garden plants the deer love most. It's easy to use and covers a large area. I can move it around a bit each night keeping the deer from getting comfortable with it's location. And then in the spring, I use it again to cover tender crops. Love this stuff!!

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
My husband and I used this fabric to protect our plants from a pending hail storm. We left the fabric up and found it works great as a hot house. It keeps the moisture in and the blazing sun off plants. It has extended the growing season on beans and peas as well as helped get zuchinni and squash producing faster. We are experimenting with our watermelon crop now.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I used the GardenQuilt cover to protect my newly transplanted seedlings mainly from wind and rain.
I like that it protects them from direct sunlight and heavy down pours but it still lets plenty of light through to the veggies and the rain water slowly filters through the fabric into the soil. Plants still get their much needed Rain water and are not damaged. Bird droppings are easy to remove with just a hard spray from garden hose. I haven't encountered any cons as of yet. My GardenQuilt has been out in the garden everyday for about two months now and has not withered or torn.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
The garden quilt is super for early starts and protection in the fall. Our growing season in Northern Maine is so short. The garden quilt makes it possible to get sweet potatoes and melons mature.
I used it on newly planted onion plants that came from Texas during severe frosts right after I planted them. The plants are doing well. I would like to see it in a bit wider size and longer.

I'm very pleased with this product. Since we can have such late frosts in our area I was glad to find a product that was lightweight yet durable. It provided the much needed protection without the weight of blankets. I'm also trying to use more "green products" so this replaces plastic sheets.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
As a Michigan Gardener, if you don't get your garden in by mother's day, you don't get much yield. But...there are always those late May, early June frosts. Using the quilt cover saved my garden from a late May frost and my garden is growing rapidly by the first week in June and I am harvesting cool weather crops. The cover is so much easier then carting around plastic tarps.

As we live in the mountains at 3600 ft. elevation, we can have frost any time. It's been known to snow in July. We use the garden quilt all summer long to cover tender plants at night. I really like this as it is so easy to put over plants that I don't want to freeze. It is light but very good at keeping the cold out. I also like that it can be cut to the size that I wanted. I like that it is easy to fold up & store when not needed-takes up very little space. I do wish that it came with several stakes to help hold it down-can easily blow off if not held with bricks or planters.

I like this light weight garden cover that is so easy to handle. It was not the right size for my raised bed garden so I purchased 2 garden quilts and sewed them together. I am using the left over piece for a smaller raised bed.
It has been a wise investment and a really good price.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
This is a great garden quilt for my raised bed garden. It is light weight and easy for me to manage. Also I like the fact that I can sew it together with another quilt so that I can adapt

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I clip one of these covers to large PVC hoops. Together with the Christmas lights I string among the tomatoes (a timer runs them from dusk till dawn), this cover keeps the tomatoes warm enough to ripen even when nights get pretty cold and has allowed me to harvest tomatoes until Thanksgiving.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I have used this product for several years to protect the hardy and dubiously hardy perennials in my planter boxes and half-round pots in my NYC back yard garden. Pulled over a wire or bamboo frame, it protects very well against the direct onslought of winter weather...and looks nice doing it. I have also used it as a winter cover (and winter deer protection)for more sensitive plants upstate in Ulster County. Good product!

Used it most evenings last fall and continued to harvest tomatoes until all the green ones colored-up. Used it this cold spring to ward off the chill for the seedlings, and occasionally during the summer to limit sun exposure. Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
Getting ripe tomatoes in western Oregon is a challenge ... I use the garden quilt to wrap around my large tomato cages any time night temperatures drop below 55. I have been impressed how sturdy it is - after being clipped to a snaggy wire cage overnight and removed in the morning 40-50 times since spring, it has not torn or developed holes. Easy to handle, and heavy enough to be effective at holding in heat. I will be ordering more to help overwinter borderline hardy perennials.

I cut these and made pillow cases to cover my tomatoes. Even though my tomatoes were in walls of water, they grew taller than the walls. Our spring weather tipped to the high teens! The pillow cases fit over the walls of water and my plants were safe well below the reported 27 degree specifications. I have ordered more fabric and plan to use it for fall crops as my pillow cases will still be fine for my mature tomatoes. This product has given me an additional 30 days of growing time so far and fall is not yet here. I can't say enough about this product!

The Quilted Row Cover is advertised mainly to get a jump on the season by early plant protection. It also can add to the end of the season. I used it to make a temporary green house to extend my tomato harvest.
I made a frame work around my small tomato patch using T-posts and chain link gate panels. I covered this frame with the Quilted Row Cover. In spite of having some good frosts early in November, I was able to harvest fresh-picked tomatoes up until Thanksgiving. It may have worked longer, but I didn't have it secured well enough for winter winds and rain. Next year I'll add grommets so I can tie it onto the frame better. Looking to pick tomatoes for New Years.

Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
I've used garden quilt for years, in several climate zones, and would not be without it. It has helped winter over plants that theoretically would not have survived in mountain winters. We've wrapped tall trunks with it, such as tree roses and young crape myrtles, used it to wrap large potted plants, and used it for a jump-start on a vegetable garden in spring. It not only protects tender new shoots, but also keeps birds from uprooting things like green beans as soon as they surface. Gives the plants a chance to get a good start before they are uncovered. It's a lifesaver when a late freeze would destroy all the new growth in the rose garden. Really great stuff, and durable also.
Comments about GardenQuilt Cover:
Before the leaves begin dropping from my big maple tree, I cover the pond with this Garden Quilt by duct taping snow fencing over a PVC frame - then topping it with the GardenQuilt. After all the leaves are down, I blow any lying on the quilt with a leaf blower then top with plastic - usually in November. The plastic stays in place thru the winter - but in March or April as the temperatures warm, the plastic comes off and the Garden Quilt stays in place till the seed pods are off the maple. Finally, it's removed and cut into pieces to use to cover things that are in danger of late frosts! I really get my money's worth!

Work great for squash etc. in the fall since they never seem to get ripe before a frost.

It saved my garden from late frost, so I was enable to enjoy my tulips which bloom early. I even had to leave it over my garden for a week at a time, and no damage was done to the early flowers.

I bought one set and loved it. When I realized I needed more, look all around neighboring town nurseries. NO ONE carried anything close to the size, quality, and versatility of this product. I had only one problem, this truely wonderful 'blanket/quilt' cover could use some anchoring holes. I live on a windy corner house and some plants were "left out in the cold" when the blanket blew off. I made holes myself and used camping tent ground hooks to keep in place.

I used it to protect my strawberries plants in containers and other container plants and it worked great!

This outstanding product does the job. Installed in the fall by 'tenting' my roses. In the spring simply rolled it up again. Roses triving this spring without any winter damage last year. The best solution I have found. Set up a simple frame using steel posts joined by conduit. Laid the cover over it and staked down the edges on both sides. When opened in the spring I had almost no winter kill inspite of several snow storms and winter rains.

The garden quilt cover works wonders getting my seedling used to being outdoors. It protects them from the strong sun and wind. I can gradually remove more of the cover the longer they have been outside.

I use this in the fall to extend my growing season and I like it much better than old sheets or plastic because I can leave it on during the day because it still lets the plants breathe and can extend my harvest with little effort.

I bought 2 of these covers for my garden, and I was glad I did! We had night after night of freezing weather last winter. But my very young Meyer lemon and navel orange trees came through it without a problem. I used them with the faux bamboo poles so the cover wouldn't touch the leaves. A smart purchase!

This cover was very handy this past May when we had some late frosts in Michigan. The fabric was easy to cut to size for both in-ground plants and annuals in pots. I used clothespins as fasteners, so it was easy to put on in the evening and take off in the morning. Saved the buds on my specialty peony!

I love to use it on the basil in the fall. We get one cold night and then 3 more weeks of great weather. I cover the basil (which turns black at 38 degrees) to protect it so I can cut and sell it for my herb business. I was quoted in Organic Gardening magazine in this last issue.
