I ordered this so I would get tomatoes this year. I was skeptical and so I put it on one plant and left the other one exposed. The plant with the teepee, died from disease. I am not sure if this is coincidence or not.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I started tomato seedlings in Seattle in late May with the Tomato Teepees. They are growing out the top 2 weeks later. I put the teepees around a tomato cage because I was concerned they would fall over.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I used the green ones previously, and the red definitely seems to generate more heat. The plastic is durable, and these really do accelerate growth in Spring to result in an earlier harvest. I put out my seedlings 4 weeks before the last frost and leave the tepee on all summer since the cages need to go on before it's time to remove the tepees. In the past, I've been able to wash and reuse these the next season, so they are really an amazing value. (I'm trying them with peppers for this first time this year, and they don't seem to be responding nearly as well as the tomatoes, and the tepees seem too tall.)
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
We have relentless winds and the walls saved my tomatoes and cantaloupes. I will buy more next year
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Easy to use, just read the instructions. Will extend the growing season as promised.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Perfect protection for young plants against coastal winds. My neighbor, an avid gardener lent me hers last summer - I don't think that I would have been able to grow the tomatoes without them.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
It was great to keep the plants warm at night.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
This year I planted half my tomatoes with teepees and half without. I always plant on Mother's Day, which turned out to be too early this year. The plants with teepees thrived, and those without looked so bad that I got rid of them and planted new ones. I was worried that the plants might not get enough sun, but they really have thrived. I put a teepee around my zucchini too so that the rabbits wouldn't eat all the flowers.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
This spring in Chicagoland the weather has been cold. I usually start my tomatoes mid-May and get fruit in late July. This year my tomatoes were planted on April 23. Since then they have endured snow and frost. I was leery of these red plastic water towers, but now that my plants have quadrupled in size and have flowers, I am very impressed. The plants thrived. I cant wait to see how early I will have fruit. Very good product.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
These protect tender tomato plants so they can be set out early or withstand unseasonable cold. They're easy to use once filled but would be better if they were 'instant fill', i.e., when you fill one tube with water, the others begin to fill also. Although the red color is supposed to enhance tomato production, I've not done any controlled tests to see if that's true.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I place tepee over my tomato plants.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
The only reason I said difficult to use is because it is a little tricky to fill each chamber with water and then carry it out to the patio (I live in a condo) without spilling or dropping the TeePee due to the weight of the water...however - once I got it to the planter it was being used on - it was a piece of cake to arrange the TeePee accordingly to shelter/shield the two tomato plants we purchased to help them along early. So here I am appx three weeks later - and the plants are thriving - and they already have flowers on them!! WE will have tons of gorgeous tomatoes, I am sure of it!!! THANKS!

The key to using this is to fill it up about 2/3 full. My tomatoes with the teepees are 3 times bigger than ones without.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I have used these for over 20 years. The new red color should keep the tomatoes warmer and produce a early crop!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Excellent for starts of all plants- not just tomatoes.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
gives young seedlings a warm environment-protected from birds and wind. seedlings remain moist longer so no need to water more than every 3rd day.
just need to figure out how to remove since seedlings planted 2 weeks ago are already growing outside of container. maybe they would benefit further if containers were left on? anyone have an answer?
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I plan to plant more tomatoes this summer and need more red tomato tepees. They really do work. I won the most voluptuous tomatoes in our community garden last fall! The red film makes a difference and the water walls keep the young tomatoes warm.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
It is definitely easiest to fill the chambers when you follow the instructions and place the teepee around a bucket for support. Be careful when weeding around the teepees. I punctured a chamber with a weeding tool.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I followed a suggestion from a user and utilized an upside down bucket over the plant, then put the empty teepee around the bucket and then filled the tubes. Worked great!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
In the NW you need these. Weather changes on a dime and plants need protection
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I bought one set of these to see how they'd work. I had 4 plants so one of the plants didn't get put in a tepee. The 3 that did are over 2 feet tall while the one that didn't not only is just a foot tall, but the cold weather stunted its growth also. These worked as advertised. I plant on getting more next season for ALL my tomatoes.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
these are great for getting vegetables going early. They protect the plants from cold and bunnys. they provide much needed heat to give the plants a great headstart, and when your ready to take them down, they water!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I've wanted to try these tomato teepees for a while. They are wonderful! Even in sunny California - we've had lots of rain and cold and my tomato seedlings weren't growing much indoors. In the teepees they have grown several inches in less than a week!
I'll start my tomatoes even earlier next year.

Just fill columns using the special hose adapter and you are all set. I always put a few pieces of mosquito BT donuts in the water so no mosquitoes reproduce in the column water.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I live on the central coast of California and growing tomatoes and other warm weather lovers can be a challenge. I have high hopes for my Tomato Teepees.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
really want reasonable priced plastic bell jars but this was what I could afford
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
These are just great. I could not believe I could get my tomatoes in early and that they would be okay. They thrived! The teepees are easy to store as they lay flat. I am using them again this year. A terrific find.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I purchased two packages of this product last year, and I will admit, the first time I tried to fill them, I found them hard to handle, however, placing them around an empty bucket, they fill easily and quickly. I was amazed at how quickly our tomato plants were blooming and setting fruits. This winter was especially harsh and I had several cabbage plants that I didn't want to loose so I placed my tomato teepees around them and they survived a week of 15 degree temp (rare for central Texas) and are now thriving. I am ordering more sets! Buy these, you will not regret it!

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I found that if I plant my Tomatoes then place stakes around them then place my tomatoe teepees aver the stakes and start filling one hole and go around all tubes to fill with garden hose it takes about 5 minutes or less per tomatoe plant to finish. I plant my tomatoes in planters on my driveway and the heat from the cement as well axs the heat retained from the teepees have done wonders for my tomatoes. I usally remove the teepee around the end of june by letting the water evaporate and then just slide the teepee up over the poles hang them up upside down and let them dry for next year. My tomatoes are ripening about a month before anyone else in the area and have been above my gutters on the roof. very tall good stong stems and very delicious tomatoes.
LOVE the teepees

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
use a bucket to hold the "wells" while you fill them, dig the holes for the plants first. I'm giving them as Christmas gifts to gardener friends.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Used them last year around eggplants and they grew great. This year have been battling squirrels who haven't been letting the plants live long. Couldn't find my teepees and by the time I got my reorder this year thought it was late to use them.

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
The only thing about the teepee that is difficult is you really should have two people to place it around an established plant--otherwise the weight itself can crush the plant.

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
really could not grow tomatoes at this altitude and with weather changes and wind without these water tepees. I already have tomatoes and plants are growing and doing well, 4 weeks after planting, due to water teepees and the frost proof fabric.

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
These tomato teepees are great. I've used the green walls-o-water for years, and I do like these better. Side by side in my garden, the red ones heat up faster and hold the heat longer. This is very important to me because I garden in zone 5 but we get harsh winds and this year frost through May. My tomatoes, peppers and eggplants love the heat. I leave them around the sweet peppers and eggplants all summer long, they protect the plants from hail and wind too. Buy them, you won't regret it.

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I start my tomatoe plants indoors in late March, and am able to plant them outdoors inside my RED tomatoe teepees in late April (we get frost into mid/late May in CO). My tomatoe plants are lush and happy, with tons of flowers and already setting fruit in mid-June.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Walls of water are a must for growing tomatoes in the Pacific NW. They are a very effective and inexpensive way to extend your growing season long enough to harvest ripened tomatoes. I recommend them highly for anyone who has had to pick boxes of green tomatoes before an early fall frost and ripen them in the house, as I have!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
We have used these for several years, never had any leaks or problems. No durability problems. Just wash them off, hang on clotheline to dry them out, and they are ready for next year. This year we had great temps inside the teepees and our tomatoes look great. Also keeps the young plants protected from not only cold, but wind.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I have an urban garden with many challenges on getting enough sunlight. These help maximize sun time and my tomatoes hae never been stronger this early in the season. Te only challenge is with the size. They are hard to fit in a planter. Wish I could buy a small size.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Tomatoes love it. First fruits appear in May.

protecting tomatoes
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I bought these last year and, while I eventually lost my tomatoes to the blight, the teepees did their job. We had non-stop rain during June & July. My co-workers didn't believe me when I told them how well mine were growing while theirs were barely getting started. This year I am again amazed! At the end of the first week, my seedlings were already at the top of the teepees! The only con is that you need two people to set them up. Minor complaint though. They are like little greenhouses. I'll never grow tomatoes without them again.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I use these for my tomatoes; usually they are helpful in reducing freeze damage to new plants; however, I found that they need to be filled early enough in the day for the water to heat up to protect the plants at night. It would be nice if these were easy-fill rather than having to fill each tube separately.

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Tested same plants side by side...one row with and one without these. Row using these 50% larger and it was not a cool spring here.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I will be and sure an purchase these items to use again. My neighbors are asking me about this product and wanting to know where they can get it. They also help keep moisture in so tomatoes do not dry out so fast.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
the tomato plants grow fast and set fruit earlier than ones with out the teepees can't get better than that
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I bought six of these to try this year for the first time - have them on 4 tomatoes, squash and a pepper. So far so good - the tomatoes are already starting to grow out the top. They have protected the plants from the really windy spring we've had while unprotected items died right next to it. My only concern is if you don't constantly check the water level in them, they will blow over/away in 30-40 mph wind if not full of water.
I planted one tomato without the teepees and we will see how much better the ones with the teepees will do!
I love these so far and plan to buy more for next year to start the garden in mid-May again!

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I have been planting tomatoes for years and starting with small heirloom seedlings can be difficult in Michigan where the spring temperature is very unpredictable. I have 8 plants but only 4 under the teepees and after 4 weeks I can't believe the difference in growth. Using them for eggplant and peppers too!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
These were a little difficult to fill at first. Then I noticed the directions said to put a bucket in the middle when filling. That was a big help! And it seemed easier to fill using a hose, and placing the end of the hose right inside the channel top. Then I could just slide it to the next channel. (I was doing it with a milk jug - tedious!) And I had one teepee from the day before that I started and was unable to finish filling - I noticed the heat coming off of it. I also placed a couple teepees around a couple of pepper plants. We will see later this summer how it works out.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
We tried these Teepees for the first time this year - putting our small plants in the ground 4 weeks earlier than normal. 3 weeks into it, our plants are doing GREAT! They have grown unbelievably fast with strong thick stalks and already have blossoms. However 3 of the 6 Teepees have already sprung leaks. I am very disappointed in that aspect of them. Seems like they could be made of better quality materials. In summary, I would give them 5 stars for function and 1 star for quality.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I live in a rural area with LOTS of squirrels and rabbits and these hide my tomato plants while they are young and vulnerable and also for their intended purpose which is to shield the plants from the cold. Once they are big enough, I store them until the next year. I've tried them with water and don't bother with that anymore.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
The teepees were a bit difficult to fill but once I got a method down: fill half way, slip over plant and then refill, and use plant stakes to hold open, I got them done in no time. I believe these teepees saved my tomatoes from 2 cold snaps we have had and one of my plants already has a tomato! They are like little green (red!) houses and work fabulous!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Once you establish a few "tricks" on how to fill the water pockets, the teepees are a lot more user friendly! I position the unfilled teepee around a planter and fill the pockets in a "triangulation" method. Using this process, the filled sides do not collapse before the entire teepee is filled!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Used it for the first time to start my tomatoes earlier. So far, so good.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
It is to early yet to get crop results but I like the teepees so far. They were easy to install as per the instructions on the pkg. My husband suggested that I use the pail upside down( as long as it fits over the plants) and he taped the handle down for ease in removing. This worked better than right side up for some reason. I have confidence that my tomato yield will be earlier than ususal and very fruitful. Will keep you posted. Love your products!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Because of the unpredictable spring we have had in VA this year, I planted my tomatoes and peppers and surrounded them with the Walls of Water. They were protected from the elements and took off in the surrounded heat generated by these walls. I have used them for many years and have always done there job.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I live on the central coast and we have cooler temperatures overall. I hoped that this product would help keep warmth in. The water never warmed up even on our warmest days on the sunny side of the house-on the deck.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I have these around my 4 tomato plants and two peppers. They have managed to mostly keep the plants alive. One plant seems to be dying. Considering we have had snow -- yes in May. These have allowed me to have my plants started early. Who knows maybe I will have tomatos this year.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Worked better SO FAR than wall-o-waters, which ALL sprung internal leaks after one season that made them flop in half and crush my seedlings (tee-pee tipping/collapse). So far these Red Tomato Teepees seem a tad better made, though honestly the real test will be NEXT spring when I take them out of storage and see if they hold up. If so, fantastic. If not, I would recommend they be promoted as a one-season and discard product. But did a BANG UP job getting my plants off to quick and vigorous start (I put my seedlings out April 8 in this zone 5/6 area) and this past week (May 10,11) we had a freeze (upper 20s) and I quickly put the teepees back up and all the plants are doing fine!

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I bought three of these and put on tomatoes that were paired with twins that were left bare. We've had a very unusual, cool spring and the tomatoes in the teepees are almost twice as tall as the others and the stems are much thicker. I'll definitely buy more of these for next year.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
We are having a wet, colder than usual, spring but my tomato plants are thriving in their new red jackets. Visitors to our garden are amazed with how fast the plants are growing. I think we may have tomatoes before August this year--hurray!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
These have really helped our tomatoes survive Spring. The winds whip through our area both cold and strong. This year our tomatoes are growing and look healthy. The water walls have prevented the plants from being beaten down by hail also. We hope to enjoy our harvest in a few months.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Easy to fill and use.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I bought these to protect my early tomato plants and they worked great. I'll be using them next year to get several different plants started early.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
These "water walls" were easy to set up and not too heavy when filled with water. I checked them in the evening before the sun set and the water in the tubes was warm and the temperature inside the walls nice and cozy. I didn't buy enough and went to a nearby garden store to buy some more that were similar (the light blue ones). They collapsed while I was filling them and the tubes were not uniform size and had two seams with tubes that didn't fill at all. I will order more of these for my pepper plants next year! Yours were by far the best quality!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I have shared the tomato teepees with friends and they all want more. I've used them for 20 years and they always give my tomatoes a head start. The blossoms seem to set faster than non tepeed tomatoes.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
This product is fantastic, the tomato plant that was put into the ground the first of April has grown 4" and now has flowers. Today is 4/22. The teepees are really heavy once filled with water and you must place them carefully over the plant once filled, they cannot be filled while surrounding the plant.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I have put my tomato plants out 6 weeks before the recommended time and they are thriving in the teepees. There have been numerous heavy frosts and the plants are fine.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
This is high desert country and we have freezing at night up until June so have to protect tomato plants by any means we can find.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
These are a piece of cake to set up if you use the bucket as instructed. I set out my tomatoes Mach 15th (I'm in zone 4), and they made it through 2 freezes. They're growing out the tops of the teepees now after a month! I took one off today, rinsed it out, and will use it again next year-no leaks at all.

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
These teepees are really effective season extenders. Just don't follow the directions on the package for how to fill them. When full, they are really heavy and awkward and you can't readily move them around. I invert a bucket (smaller in circumference than the teepee) over the seedling I want to protect, place the empty teepee around the outside of the bucket and fill every third or fourth tube from a hose, then work my way around again, filling in the empty tubes. The bucket keeps the teepee from collapsing while you fill it and because it is smaller in circumference than the teepee, it is easy to remove at the end. I haven't figured out how to remove the teepee later in the season, though, without getting soaked.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
We have had freezing weather, and yet my tomato plants are still alive and doing well
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I have used wall of water for 20 years. The red tomato teepee variety out performs all other competitors. These are the easiest to set up. The plastic is durable and stays flexible for storage at the end of the season. In 5 years of use there have been no failures of this product.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
When I lived in Alaska in the summer, I used these teepees to be able to set out squash and other not hardy vegetables weeks before they could have been planted in the open garden. They are extremely effective. I will not be using these until early next spring probably for zucchini and tomato plants.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
It took 2 of us to fill them, but they worked well. We could have put them out earlier than we did, so next year will tell the tale as we are in a cold climate in Michigan.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
The teepees protected my tomatoes from last frosts this spring and acted as little greenhouses in our cool early summmer this year so I got tomatoes rippening down in the teepees.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
The tomato plants that got the product produced first and seemed to get a head start. I had production by June 30th.They look a little strange in the spring garden but they work. Easy to install and store and no leaks in the first season.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I grow all my tomatoes in containers due to the soil. I bought these not for an early start rather to protect them from the feral cats/etc using my containers as litter boxes. First one was a challenge filling but then quickly figured it out. I'm surprised by some of the comments. I find these extremely durable. I only bought 6 and those plants are twice as big as those without. Would i buy again - YES.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
They definately do get your tomatoes and eggplants off to a good start, however I question if the material they are constructed from will hold up in future years.I have purchased 9 in the last 2 years and 2 of them have developed pin holes.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I've used this product on my tomatoes for three years - and got my father started two years ago. The only part of a tomato plant that has ever been damaged with this product are the parts that grew above teepee - other than that 100% protection, even during a hard frost! I usually get wet when filling them, but that's completely worth the results. I highly recommend Tomato Teepees!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I get excited about starting my garden early, ahead of schedule.

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
We have used these water teepees for years. They give our seedlings protection when we transplant them into the garden and give us a jump-start on early vegetables. My earliest ripe tomato was May 9th one year! They last several years on average, longer if you can find the repair sleeves for the tubes that get leaks! We have about 50 or more and I wouldn't start my garden without them!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I live in Oregon (Portland area) and love tomatoes. Our season is really too short to have tomatoes for more than a month. The teepees are amazing! My peppers and tomatoes are about 1 1/2 to 2 months ahead of my tomato growth in years past. I am looking forward to many tomatoes much earlier! Thanks.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Gardening in Maine is tricky because our season is so short. These 'walls of water' make a huge difference! I can plant my seedlings in early May ( a full month before the frost-free date) and not worry about frost, slugs, etc. By mid-June the plants that were protected are 3x bigger than the ones that weren't. The downside is they are difficult to fill and maneuver, and very difficult to dry and store for the fall/winter. However, so far all the cons and difficulty are much outweighed by the pros!

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I was disappointed in the quality of these teepees. They seemed very light weight and 3 out of the 9 I purchased had leaks in the fold line on at least one of the tubes.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
My tomatoes loved this teepee. They grew out of it really fast. I wish the tepee was thicker plastic as one channel has a hole in it already and it really helps if it is on a flat surface I have a slope so had to put some sticks in it so it would not collapse on my tomatoe.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
cold spring- it kept my tomatoes groowing as if there was a constant 75 degree temp
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Loved that I could get my tomatoes in the garden early, and they did great. The plants are growing great! I just took them off because the plants seemed to be getting cramped and some of the leaves are turning yellow that touch the edges. I think they worked great, but wish they were a bit wider so I could keep them on for a couple more weeks.

I place a 5 gal pail over the plant and then place waterwall around the pale to fill.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
The tomatoes and peppers in my teepees are much larger than those without. All survived two late frosts undamaged.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I bought these to replace teepees that were worn out after years of use. These just don't measure up to the old ones. The plastic is flimsy, and the design is poor. My old teepees were sturdy, one of these fell over the first day, and the resulting crease in the plastic is permanent so now it won't stand without support. These teepees need to have each individual channel filled, whereas my old ones had a connecting channel along the bottom making them easy to fill and allowing the water level to be constant in all the channels.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
[...] Tomatoes grew well and fast, even through several frosts.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
love these for the north land - they are durable - only problem is a design issue - may I suggest to the mfr to add battens so they stand alone while I fill them with water, otherwise you need 2 people to hold them
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Be sure you have a hose available and you fill them in place. I struggled because our hose wasn't hooked up and I poured from a bucket.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
These appear to be very sturdy and have stood up well to the wind in our area. They really do warm up the ground. Follow the advice on the package and use a 5 gallon bucket for support while filling with water. Hav sucessfully protected tomatos from frost so far (Western New York State)
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
We had a frost last night and these did the trick for my tomatoes! Would work on any plant that fits inside. Easy to fill. Probably better to put over plant and then fill but you'd need a helper. I used the bucket trick to fill, then had help moving into place.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
This is an excellent product that lives up to its claims. I live in a mountain valley, where most of us can't plant tomatos until mid-June. My friends thought I was crazy to put out my plants in late April, but they have thrived in their tomato tepees--through snow, hail, and two hard freezes. Be sure to create a teepee shape though, or your plant will not be protected. I think this is an excellent value.

I tested 3 of these after a bad experience with 6 green Teepees from Burpee..... 2 of the 6 failed and damaged the plants within, 3 of the others showed failure but held together. The Gardners Supply Teepees held together perfectly.
I will throw the Burpees away and order more of the red teepees from Gardners.... I have already recommended this product to friends.....

My neighbor and I planted our tomatoes on the same weekend and they were the same variety. We also used the same soil mix and fertilizer. My tomatoes are in the tomato teepees and are three times the size of hers after just 2 weeks! This is the second year that I have used these same teepees and they're just as good as new.

These teepees protect fragile tomato plants from heavy winds in addition to late frost.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I like the total protection it gives the plants. It is very cold and windy in northern Indiana in the spring!

I have always been a frugal gardener, however, the short growing season last year made me decide to splurge and give these a try. I planted 3 of my tomato plants two weeks ago, which would be 4-6 weeks earlier than I would ever try before. Using a 5 gallon bucket to support these while adding the water is a must! And make sure you have them right next to where you want to place them. You can pick them up and put them over your newly planted toms, but it really takes three hands. I actually filled mine and set them in place 3 full sunny days before planting, to warm up the soil. Then I moved them, set the toms in and placed them back over the plant. The plants/tepees have been exposed to two frosts, 35 mph winds, marble size hail, sunshine and downpours. So far, they haven't budged and the plants are flowering inside. My only concern is that the plants may outgrow the tepees before it is warm enough to remove them. However, I bought some quilt row covers, and will use those if needed. It is only May 8th. I am hopeful for a great harvest this year!

This is the best way to start tomatoes here in Colorado. We don't have a long growing season, so this gives me an extra month of growing time, and a lot more fruit.

planted tomatoes at the begining of may. waiting to see the results, very hopefull.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Putting water in this was a hassle, even when following the instruction's suggestion to first put it around a bucket to help it maintain it's shape - the problem is that until most of the tubes are filled, it tends to collapse to one side or the other and lose some water.
However, once it is full, it does stand up on its own, but the instructions suggestion to squeeze it into a 'teepee' shape around the plant doesn't seem to work since the tubes are the same width from top to bottom. All that happens is you end up splashing a lot of water out of the top, but it still bounces back basically in a cylinder shape.
If they were serious about the 'teepee' shape thing, they would taper the tubes a little to make that more feasible.
Anyway, I haven't had it on the tomato plants long enough to know if it'll help, we will see...

I used the teepees with plants I started indoors. I was running out of space under my two little lights, so decided to set out 4 plants in two self-watering containers in mid-April. I have one eggplant and one pepper in a raised bed. Last frost here is May 11. So far, so good. I have 5 blossoms on 2 tomato plants. I set the teepee around a plastic bucket (as suggested in the instructions) and then filled sections on opposite sides of the teepee one at a time at first to balance it and help it from flopping over. Went fine. I found that filling it only about 2/3 helped with picking it up to move it over the plant, so it did not leak out the water. As the plants grow, I'll put in water up to the top. I think I'll buy more for next year.

Allowed me to plant my tomatoes and eggplant 3 weeks earlier without worry of frost damage.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
After just two weeks the tomatoes are already above the cozy coats
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I started 3 tomato plants ( in teepees) before spring break and I have tomatoes growing. The one that I didn't use a teepee is not growing as fast or well.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Am using these on my tomatoes & they work great! Tomatoes have withstood 3 frosts while the unprotected squach & flowers did not. Only downside I can think of is that they would have been easier to set up with 4 hands, instead of just my 2!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
My tomato and pepper seedlings are thriving through the frosty mornings.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
These teepees were used to protect my tomato plants that were planted in early March from inclimate weather. One of them has been removed because the plant has outgrown it (Apr23). The other is still holding my cherry tomato plant. Will remove after weather becomes a little more settled.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
The teepees are sturdy and the red color is said to capture just the right amount of heat that tomatoes love. In our corner of Colorado at 7000 feet altitude, my tomatoes need all the boosting heat of the sun they can get!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I am using this on my tomato plants and so far they have done just what i wanted. we have had some pretty cold nights and one late snow and the plants have stayed warm and toasty inside the teepees.I could not have asked for anything better.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I can plant a month earlier than my neighbors and get a larger crop.

We have an expression in Reno, "If you don't like the weather, wait a few hours and it will change". We have overnight freezing and this item saves my plants. I am so pleased with them, that I bought some for my friend.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I wanted to get a jump on spring with my tomatoes and the teepee was the perfect answer. We've had frost this week and my tomatoes are doing just fine. I have been amazed at how much they've grown inside this perfect environment. I'll obviously be enjoying tomatoes very early this year. Hooray.

These are the best way I have found to protect my tomato plants that I put outside before the danger of frost is over. They are idea to use with the Tomato Ladders, which fit inside very nicely!

no way to take off of plants that get big
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
the product is easy to use and store and does what it promises- only problem from the ones I bought last year is that one of the three sprung a leak
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I use this product too set out tomato plant the first of March in Houston Tx. They provide excellent protection and the plants grow well. They seem to fail after a couple of season because they develop small leaks, however they work for me.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I put these Teepees over my tender tomato plants I had raised from seedlings and moved to the garden. The next day the temps dropped to close to freezing. Tomatoes were fine. After that cold spell, I put out peppers and cucumbers and covered them with the Teepees. We just finished a weekend of sustained overnight temps in the twenties and my plants are all fine and growing.

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
While I am not sure that they accelerated the growth of my tomatoes and peppers, I am absolutely thrilled with how well they kept the rabbits away from these plants so they could get a good start. I use them more as a fence and plant protector than a green house. The plants that did not have the cone were destroyed by rabbits and deer.

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
We used the teepees to start tomatoes, cucumbers and cantaloupe. We were skeptical about how well they would work but with the cool spring we had they proved to be a very good investment. Growth was accelerated due to the increase in warmth provided by the design. The only drawback we found to exist was we get very strong winds in our area so we did have a few of the teepees get blown off or knocked over but this problem was corrected by placing two small stakes on opposite interior sides and had no future problems. I would highly recommend this product.

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
My mother in law gave me some of these several years ago to help my young tomatoes survive the late freezes we have here in zone 4. I have subsequently purchased more and now use them to protect squash, pumpkin, cucumber, and pepper seedlings as well.
In addition to helping seedlings along, they can be set out in the garden well before planting to warm the soil. Used in this way, I directly seeded pumpkins on June 1. As of July 15, the direct seeded pumpkin vines are substantially larger and healthier than the greenhouse starts that I planted in mid April and set out June 15.
The only drawback is that it is somewhat difficult to clean them up at the end of the season. I do urge GSC to locate and market a large, soft bristled, long handled bottle brush that could be used to scrub off the algae and other crud that accumulates in the individual tubes. This would make it much easier to clean the tubes and keep the walls free of dirt and grit that causes them to leak prematurely.
Finally, a hint. When one of your tomatoe teepees developes a leaky tube, don't throw it away. Use scissors to cut out the undamaged tubes and insert one of them into the damaged tube or tubes of another leaky teepee.

Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
The Red Tomato Teepees were easy to set up if you don't mind splashing water all around. (wear boots)Once filled they stood alone with out any other support and the tomato plants inside grew very well through a couple frosts. I was worried about taking them off without damaging the tomato plants which were poking out the top by the time I got around to it(June). But after emptying some of the water, the teepees lifted right off and the tomato plant slipped right through, no problem. When I put the tomato into it's cage, it was already to the top of the 1st cage and had a few small green tomatoes on it.

I used them to protect new chard and lettuce plants. They were protected down to 20 degrees. Even when the water in the teepees froze, the plants were protected.

I was able to jump start my vegetable plants. I live in an area with a short growing season. I will most probably purchase more next year.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
We had a couple of late cold snaps and many neighbors had to replant thier tomatoes. Not us! It did take 2 people to fill and set up but it is worth it. Even our green house people came to see.We will have the first of many from our 5 plants.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Planted tomatoes a month before last from date (4/1 here in SW Arizona). Started harvesting in late May. I shared some with a friend.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
I don't get late frosts or snow, but my growing season is very cool in the spring. These teepees really help to get my heat-loving vegies off to a good start. The old Wall of Water's were easier to fill however with the connected water channels. It's difficult to fill and support each separate chamber and keep it supported. But the results are worth the aching back!
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Using the teepees helped me produce my best tomato crop ever. I'm hoping they don't deteriorate before next year so that I can use them again.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
These teepees were much easier to use because they have a open lip to use when filling them. Highly recommend this particular item.

difficult to set up initially, and to remove! as we wanted airflow, did stop the bunnies from eating the toms before they were established, and we were eating toms in June! ordered them a little too late to get the full benefit, but will use these next year-a lot earlier! otherwise they are an excellent product.
Comments about Red Tomato Teepees, Set of 3:
Used on tomato and pepper plants. Helped them grow faster, stronger. Protected plants from wind, cold. Absolutely will use again and again.
