[...]) Instructions were exactly opposite of what they should be. Once assembled it appears to be a good product.

Very easy to setup and lightweight to move around. I think it is a good buy for the price.

Great to get a jump start on the season here in the Great North. Put it against a southern-facing to get added benefits. I have seedlings in it while the snow is still melting in Minnesota!

This easy to use coldframe is great when you lose patience with up and down weather and want to get some seeds/plants into the ground. I'll also use it in the fall to protect plants from early frost. Easy to fold and store off season.
Make sure to anchor with a few bricks or rocks if spring is windy!

I set this up in June and used it through October before dismantling it to move to a different location in the yard.It has many flaws:1) The netting became so fragile after 5 months that it literally tore when touched. Fortunately I sew and was able to salvage the cold frame with a heavy-duty netting I bought by the yard.2) The metal frame is not particularly sturdy. A plastic coupling holding the frame together cracked and fell off even though no stress at all was placed on it for 5 months.3) It's very awkward and difficult to reach the side areas under this cover because the front opening does not extend to the sides and at 5'7", I was barely able to reach the back corners. 4) The front area is just a few inches tall, so all I could grow there was radishes. 5) For [$] the netting should have been high quality - this netting felt just a step up from a bridal veil.6) The plastic cover was difficult to place over the frame, and I never was able to get it lined up well.I will use this cold frame over the winter. If the plastic cover deteriorates by next spring, I will be asking for some kind of refund or replacement. I love most everything I've purchased from Gardeners Supply and write this review reluctantly, but it's an expensive product and I depend on others' reviews, so felt I should detail my experience.

Bought this in 2008, hoping to be able to plant my lettuces earlier and closer to the house. Like others have found, the plastic cover was really too small for the frame/bed. The flaps were difficult to manipulate in order to water the bed, and by the next year, the plastic started disintegrating. Very disappointing.

I've been looking for an easy to assemble, lightweight cold frame for a while. For those with limited space, this easily stored unit makes great sense. No clunky wooden contraption to find space for, or move. It kept my delicate seedlings in good shape for transplanting.

Mine came w/ a hole in the netting. Clearly, it is not going to last long but works well for now. I didn't realize it was made in [*] when I bought it.

I have grow tomatoes for years on my deck. It took me years to build my terraces in the backyard. This was the year I wanted to extend my gardening to include them. I bought two each of the 3x6 raised beds and cold frames.
The frame parts slip together and are held loosely with a "curled wire". It does not locked in place and is very loose and floppy. One of my covers is made to small and does not properly fit the frame. I can't attach the velcro to the frame as they don't meet. The eight (8) stakes are too few and small to hold them down. The covers are made too small to fit around the raised beds I bought. Because of this the wind has knocked them over several times. I have had to use other mean (rope) to hold down the frames so they don't blow away.

I bought and used this coldframe in '09 winter spring. I enjoyed it and had some success with my early seed starting. I liked the zippered screens and poly cover on the sides but the windows on the end were only velcroed and therefore not tight against cold invasion. I live in North Fl. and we have comparatively mild winters but still some very hard freezes and frosts and therefore need good cold protection. I put the frame and cover in storage after the weather settled in late March and dragged them out this 2010 Feb. Not long after it was up in February I noticed that the outer plastic cover was already breaking up in the woven spaces and the velcroed end flaps were harder to seal and flatten. This would surely not protect anything inside. Money down the drain. The frame is still good. I wonder if the company would like to give me new cover. ?????

First of all, let me say that this review is only based on having assembled the cold frame and set it into my garden-- I have not yet observed how well it fuctions to protect my seedlings.
I was disappointed in the quality of this item. I bought it to sit on top of a 3x 6 raised bed, but found that the plastic cover is not quite big enough (and cannot stretch) and so the dimensions are closer to 6 x 2.75 or so. Overall, the cover is very poorly pieced together-- the zippers for the closures are unreliable, the seams are sewn so crookedly that in some places the two pieces or zippers are not actually attached, and because of the poor construction, it was quite difficult to get it on to the frame.
Despite all of this, it may still serve to protect my plants-- time will tell.
