Turn your old soda bottles into a super-easy, inexpensive irrigation system. Our patented AquaCone® watering devices fit 1-liter bottles for light watering or 2-liter bottles to deeply water thirsty plants. Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I, too, found that the 2 liter bottles were too heavy for use. They just fell over. And I do not think they are useful in potted plants, vegies or flowers if soil is loose, well drained, etc. Years ago I would save gallone milk containers and punch a few holes in the bottom and spread around the vegie garden. That worked and was free.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Maybe the holes were too many. It just drained the entire bottle into the garden, no matter how many times I filled it up.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I bought these to use in some hanging baskets that are not close to water access and they tend to dry out faster, therefore, this was my solution. I am not completely satisfied as the large liter bottle tends to fall over and I needed to tie it down. Also the pressure in the bottle tends to collapse the bottle. But I will try a smaller bottle and try to work with it. I think these might work better in the garden instead of hanging baskets.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Have used similar (orange) cones that screw on for 2 years & loved them. Purchased these because the color was less noticeable. They do not work with all 2 liter bottles! The water runs out immediately, not just through the holes but also at the neck. I tried different 2 liter bottles & some did work but I had to use a garden hose washer in the cone. That seems to work a little better but still not as good as the screw-on type. I wish I would have reordered the original screw-on type.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
When I planted my flowerr pots at our Florida home, I thought I would try aquacones. After planting and inserting the cones, I left for home in Kentucky. I returned to our Florida home one month later and the flowers looked amazing. I used 2 litre bottles and it was just the right amount for the flowers.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
first you cannot use a soda bottle as described, the soda bottles are too flimsy and full of water are too heavy to stand on their own on the stake. So forget the idea that you can just fill and it will deliver water as needed. Finally I have discovered that using "vitamin water" bottles, size large and just cutting the ends off and letting them glug until dry is the best thing to do. At least it deep waters and doesn't waste water on the surface. yep, buying more
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
They do not screw on to the bottle so they fall over and you have water everywhere. Would not buy again.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We punched the holes in an AquaCone using a largish nail, filled a 2L bottle with water and put it in a planter. However, the water quickly ran out and we've been unable to get it work in loose soil. In the clay in the backyard, the water runs out more slowly but sometimes the bottle falls out of the cone.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I followed the directions to the letter for using in pots.
Put the filled "Aqua Cone" into a large potted tomato on my patio and watched the water gurgle out and into the root area of my plant in a matter of minutes. Now I'm worried that my tomato is going to drown.
I'm not sure what the people who wrote glowing reviews did that I didn't do but I would appreciate any ideas.
I will not buy these again or recommend them.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use a cone for each plant in my garden, using a soda bottle for larger plants such as tomatoes and a water bottle for smaller plants such as peppers and eggplant. I found by using water from my rainbarrels and occasionally adding fertilizer we were able to have a beautiful garden during a severe drought a few years ago when even the old timers' gardens dried up.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I am using these in several containers with All Organic Self Watering mix. I only punched out one hole so it takes almost 30 minutes to drain a 2 liter bottle, which is ideal. The temp is already pushing 100 degrees and the tomatoes, pickling cucumbers and peppers look great.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
can use different sizes of bottles; needs to tell that sand needed before you get product
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use this easy watering system to dispense liquid fertilizer to my roses. It waters directly to the root and presto....I have gorgeous roses!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I actually use them in all planting situations..such as flower beds, verticle garden beds, in patio containers...this is just an amazing product!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Best used with vegetables, especially tomatoes, thus avoiding splashing water and soil on the leaves.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use the Aqua Cones on my bananas and my watermelons that have high water and food needs. They work great at putting water and liquid plant food at the roots. I liked them so much that I bought a second set.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Use in garden, flower beds, pots. So easy to use considering I have a hard time getting around.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Used these to water both my flowers and veggies - worked great, no wasted water, lots of veggies, easy to use.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Helpful for tomatoes
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
My pepper plants were wilting under the scorching Florida heat. The Aqua Cones have eliminated the need of daily watering sometimes 2x during this heatwave. Gives me more time to devote to my other garden projects.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
the very best thing for newly planted perennials and shrubs
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Watering plants when a way fom home for a while
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I have perennials against our house that do not get rain that often because of an overhang. These cones have made it so much easier to water the plants. When I used a watering can or hose, the water would sometimes run off into the grass instead of going into the ground. Great product idea!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I have used these for the last 3 years and love them which is why I keep buying more.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I expected the neck to have threads that would allow ease in attaching a plastic bottle. No specification regarding type of sand to use, coarse or fine, nor instruction how to keep bottles tight in the Acqua cones so the water stays inside the bottle for a longer period.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
this product help keep your plant watered
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Spikes work great, alittle hard to get holes started but I used a hammer and a nail and hammered the pre-drilled holes open. Flow is perfect! Great gadget for frequent travelers who are sad to come home to wilted plants!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Don't recommend using the curvy 2-liter Coke bottles; they tend to flop over from the weight due to the narrow neck.
Otherwise, these are great for helping your plants stay watered, especially during the brutal heat of summer.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
If you thought that using this product was as easy as screwing the cone onto a water filled soda bottle and pushing it into the soil you're in for a surprise. Extensive preperations are needed before you can put them in the garden. First, you'll need to know the type of soil in your garden so that you can punch out the proper holes in the cones (there are holes for loam, clay, and sandy soil). Next, buy clean sand to fill the cones and slow the flow of water into the soil. The soda bottles needed to make this work must have holes drilled in the bottoms or have the bottoms cut off, a task more difficult than it sounds. After that you'll need to attach the cone to the bottle by pushing it into the bottle neck (no, the cone ends do not screw in). Getting a tight seal between cone and bottle neck was hit or miss and several leaked the moment they were turned upside down. Others didn't leak at the neck but either emptied too quickly or not at all despite careful preperation.
This product seemed like a good idea and the effort required to make it operational would be well spent if only it did what it was supposed to do.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I really wanted this product to work. I'd visited family abroad where a friend was using a similar product in her garden; hers worked wonders when she had to be away for a few days. Clearly she was using a better quality product. I followed the directions (limited as they are) to make the necessary holes. But following their instructions, the holes were too big and the water came out too fast (in a matter of hours). So there was one cone gone. Tried make a hole with a needle. Too small. This went on and on. Think Goldilocks, except for the "just right" part. My husband, a mechanical engineer, couldn't even find a viable solution. So, sadly I'm returning the product and hope to find something better.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use Aqua Cones for both indoor and outdoor potted plants. They allow me to keep my plants alive when I'm not able to be home to water them regularly. They are easy to use and even though not super attractive, the functionality and price more than make up for that. Besides, when I'm home and don't want to look at them I just set them aside for the time being.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I used these by all of my tomato plants...moisture goes right to the root....perfect way to re-cyle 2 liter pop bottles.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I am 79 years old and grow 25 tomato plants and many cucumber plants every year. For the last 5 years I have used the aqua cones with gallon milk jugs to water my garden. It does an excellent job and makes it much easier for me to get the water and fertilizer to the roots of the plants. My plants are always healthy and I have the extra energy to devote to the rest of my gardening projects
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
every year next to tomatoes, peppers and squash.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The cones either leaked all the water immediately or didn't despense at all.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Good way to use the plastic soda bottles. Takes a little practice to get used to filling and inserting them, but worth the try.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I bought this product for when I leave on vacation so my friend doesn't have to worry about my pots in the yard.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The cones have been great for my tomatoes especially in the very dry summer conditions.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Highly dependent on how tightly you pack the sand in the cone. It did keep plants off the soaker hose alive during drought and 100 degree heat while we were away for a week, which is a plus!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
All the water came out in two minutes-I see no useful reason for these since I can drip from a hose and do better.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
easy to use
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I bought these cones for the express purpose of keeping potted plants alive while I am away. However, they do not work well. The holes in the cone get plugged up with dirt and do not release the water, or the water is released too quickly -- exhausted within hours.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The Aqua Cones sort of do the job intended. They do slowly drip water to your intended plant. Those are the pros. The cons are that they are very difficult to install on the bottles. You need to have them pushed all the way on or they will leak. The instructions mention this but why or why would you not make these a screw on? Pushing the bottle into them is quite difficult. Also, while the water does slowly drip out by slowly I mean over the course of an hour. There is no way you could fill even a 2 liter bottle to use with one of these and have it water your plants over 24 hrs. And yes I did add sand to the cones as per the instructions. I was hoping I could water every other day but I still need to fill them every day. For that matter i could have just watered the plants directly!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I *love* these things. I've been using mine in my veggie garden for 4 years. At the start of each year I check for clogging (usually poking a nail through the holes again,) anything that might have gotten stuck in the system (leaves, bugs, etc). I don't even detach the bottles, just store, check, and re-use. Love 'em. When you set it up correctly, it works very well for clay or loam soil (haven't tried sand). An improvement would be to have the connection be screw-in, instead of push-together, because the latter requires more effort and there's potential for cracking. (For those of you seeking something for indoor/potted plant use, you would probably do better with the type of dripper that first filters through a ceramic holder -- slows the process appropriately.)
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This is our 2d purchase of Aqua Cones after finding another use in our garden/landscape. The initial Aqua Cones proved very useful, so much so that we needed to additional cones around our other water loving plants, those consuming water at a rate that the supplemental soaker hose cannot keep pace. With our water costs going higher this allows us to concentrate our water useage to where its needed most and adjust for weather conditions. Great idea.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The water just runs right out of the holes would not recomend or use very very small holes. Not what they recomend. I feel it was a waste of money for me.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These jewels allow direct root watering (tomatoes)without getting the leaves wet. They are excellent for conserving water.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Watering tomatoes has never been easier or better. No more wet leaves!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The work great because the water it put right where it is needed. Found a different brand locally for much less. I thought your brand was expensive.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The cone did not dispense water slowly, it was empty shortly after inserting in the ground. I followed the instructions and will try filling the cone with something other than sand, as was stated in the directions,to try to slow the water flow. Would not recommend to buy.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The plants that have these at their base are growing much better than other plants.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Idea is great - but can't get the bottle screwed on tight enough. Water just flows right back out the connection as fast as you pour it in.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Great for all vegetables
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Here it gets HOT! and during periods of little water this does the trick to keep my herb garden watered efficiently with out wasting water. That's what I bought them for and I'm very pleased.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The product is not good for house plants, The water runs out to fast and is to big for the planter.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I'm using these with 16 ounce bottles in my hanging baskets & small container garden. I haven't tried larger bottles. These cones help give my plants a little extra water during the sunny afternoons in my yard. Definately worth the money for them.
My one caution is don't use a bottle with a short neck. They don't fit the cone & will blow off in a light breeze, even with a bit of water in them.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I ordered the Aqua Cones, the Precision Drip Spikes, and the Tomato Automators, for comparison. I strongly prefer the simple, effective design of the Aqua Cones to the others. The one thing that is not mentioned in the description is that you first need to fill them with sand to slow down the flow, but other than that they are perfect and very sturdy and water the root zone reducing waste. They are a huge time savings with watering - I just fill up each bottle instead of having to move the hose around and accidentally water one plant for an hour and the next for five minutes. Takes about 30-45 min to drain a 2-liter bottle at the loam setting. They are simple to insert through landscaping fabric as well. The others were too complicated, too expensive, and not as effective. The Aqua Cones are simple in design, cheap, and effective. I was a little concerned about the look of plastic bottles all over my garden, but they really are not that noticeable and it is very worth it.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
first, i bought these to conserve water by having it go where it was needed and not wasted. those of you with difficulty attaching cones probly didnt cut of top ring of bottle, cut and it will fit nicely and not come off. As for watering time, it depends on the size of hole you put in it...as some of mine take several hours to empty, some whole day. Plants with cones seem to average 1 & 1/2 times larger than those without (i experimented regular hose watering wasted water and not get so deep) all in all these work great if you think ahead about hole size.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I love these and plan to order more. They were the perfect solution to a new hydrangea that needed water at the roots everyday for the first few weeks it was in the ground. Highly recommend.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
While the units work well, I thought the water escaped from the cones faster than necessary.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I thought these would give a slow trickle of water to the roots of my plants. It is NOT a slow trickle. Following the directions, the water flows out rather quickly. Perfect for watering a plant at the roots instead of from the surface down, but be aware of the flow-rate you will get out of them.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I used the product in areas and some containers that are not easily accessable with my sprinkler attachment; I found that clear bottles were not as noticeable as green bottles! I like the idea that empty bottles can be used and I don't have to worry if I miss watering for a day or two. I plan to use them inside on my larger plants during the winter.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This is a very fine product to help in watering plants.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I bought these to help me water in my soil which contains a lot of clay. The cones work great. You can water anytime without worrying about burning your plants. Excellent for plants that do not like to have water on their leaves (peppers, tomatoes). The only problem for me was trying to get bottles to use them with.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These are nice for getting the garden watered when you're short on time or will be gone for a couple of days. They aren't the most attractive things. It can depend on what kind of bottle you use. I used smaller 20-24 oz. bottles instead of 2 liter bottles. I used green bottles where the plants would grow to hide them, hoping they'll blend in. I do like using clear bottles in my pots on the deck. They are a little less noticeable.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The idea of sticking an old bottle on top to stick out of the garden is not attractive. If it is a large plant/shrub that will cover the bottle, it may not be so bad.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I don't have to worry about water running off or not getting to roots. Yea for aqua cones!

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
If you want the spikes to hold water longer and only release it when needed, put about 1/2 tsp of "water-absorbing crystals" (potassium ones are best) into the spike. I used them that way last summer when it was in the 100 degrees and my plants thrived.

WE were looking for a way to water small tree seedlings (from nuts/acorns) in the first year, where we're carrying in water. So far this looks like the most economical and feasible way to deliver 1 gal per seedling per week by slow drip irrigation (we use 2 of the 2 liter bottles per tree.)
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These were used for different sized plants and worked great. I had no worries when we went on vacation and came home to well watered and healthy plants.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
With going on vacation, one of my worries, of course, is my plants. Using these with pop bottles eased my mind since I tried it before we left and when we came home, all plants were fine. Thanks for a great idea!

This product was the greatest thing that has come out in a long time; Use it for my newly planted Blueberry Bushes - which need contant moisture. Just fill the bottles once a day and they are good to go.... Plan to use them for newly planted tomatoe and pepper plants--
Gets the water to the roots of the plant where it is needed the most.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
So far I am pleased with the product. I'm using them to water my heirloom tomatoes-I have alot of them- 36 varieties. It provides a way to get water directly to the roots without getting the foliage wet. Cones can be little difficult to attach. Make sure they are secure or they will leak around the rim.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Will begin to use next week. Not sure of plastic bottle will stay in opening on top of cone. Had hard time anchoring bottle into cone- kept falling out. Once water goes in bottle, not sure bottle will remain in cone. Also, these cones are way overpriced!! In fact, your whole catalog is way overpriced!!!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This does water the root system and is pretty quick to set up. However the timing seems to release water closer to 1 hour rather than the 1.5 to 4 hours claimed on the site. I have them in a raised bed that has garden soil.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I am a disabled person with seven rose bushes. My apartmernt complex does not have a water spigot so I have to water the roses by hand with a bucket. The aqua cones, since the water goes right to the roots, seems to be doing a great job. I need one more Aqua Cone for the seventh rose bush however, would I be Able to buy just one cone? I am living on a fixed income. Please let me know. Thank you.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I like the idea of the Aqua cones, but they work best in container gardens.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The aqua cones are easy to use, and the water goes directly to the root of the plant. No loss due to evaporation.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These do just what they say they will, are easy to use and easy to store. Saves time and gets the water down to the roots.
Work better if you cut off the little ring that is left on the bottle neck once the cap is removed from the bottle. This will allow the cone to fit tight on the bottle neck.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Using for rose bushes, and it is a great way to recycle old soda bottles.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This item does not do what I expected it to do. I was hoping for watering similar to drip irrigation. This on waters just like a garden hose. I was expecting it to have continuous drip, instead the water runs in just as quickly as it is filled. I will have to return these unfortunately.

I started more vegetables this year than usual, so I needed to plant some large pots that did not have drip irrigation access. They worked perfectly. When the bottle are empty they do blow off, but not really a problem...my plants are doing well.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I purchased the product to elimiate the daily watering of large, potted tomato plants. Water drips/drains through the holes too fast, making it no different than before purchasing the product.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I thought these cones would solve a couple of areas in our garden that are not hit by the sprinklers. Unfortunately, this was not the case. After following the instructions carefully, I found that the water drains out immediately. What's the point of having that ugly thing in your garden if it doesn't work?
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
have aready recommend to others
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use this product in my garden and landscaping. I'm a busy mom of 4 small children and sometimes the plants get neglected. These aqua-cones have worked well for our very thirsty plants. My children like to fill the bottles with water. We hide the systems behind plantings because they are not very attractive.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Setting out new plants requires more watering and the Aqua Cones solve that problem for me. Great for a busy life like mine. Especially useful in drier soil types too which always make starting new plants difficult. This is a great, convenient, and inexpensive way to solve the problem of remembering to do that extra watering -and a great use for 2L plastic bottles.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I thought this was a good idea for getting fertilizer and water directly to the roots of my tomatoes and pumpkins. As usual, I could not find anything like this locally. Obviously, I donʻt know how theyʻll work out but logically they should improve results and Iʻm optimistic.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Used one for each tomato and pepper plant and this makes watering them a breeze, plus conserves water. I love these.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Leaving in New York City and with a busy schedule , these Aqua Cones allow me to water quickly the garden, and additional fill up all the containers which provide me the confidents that the more water dependant plants are getting enought water. Thanks
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use them to help water tomatoes, peppers & basil.
I like the various hole markings for Sand-Loam-Clay soil.
If my soil wasn't so hard, they'd be easier to insert beside the plants.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use red Aqua Cones in my tomato and pepper garden, green ones with other veggies. This type of watering will give your garden a slow, deep, extended seeping of water.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I live in an area with unpredictable weather. Very hot, windy, etc. Watering was an everyday requirement. Now I just fill the bottles and am able to go away for a few days without worry of losing my pretty hanging baskets.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
They Rock!!!!
they work real good, but they need to have one little
lip in side the throat of the cone, For the threads of the bottle to screw in to, so the bottle dose not pull out of the cone, When you try to pull the cone out of the ground by the bottle!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This is a clever idea. Turning soda bottles into watering devices is one of the most simple and creative recycling ideas I've seen. You do have to be careful to make sure the bottles are completely upright or they tend to leak, and not everyone would admire a garden full of plastic ex-Coke bottles, but my daughter who goes to an evironmentally active college thought it was "Wicked Cool!"
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
They work just like the ad said they would and look like they'll last for years.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
You can water tomato and pepper plants on hot days when you are on vacation.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These allow me to leave for a weekend of camping and not worry that I will come home to alot of wilted/dying plants
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
low tech "green" way to water plants;
easy to use, but not "install"--that's where it needs improvement--just put in threads so one can screw into soda bottle rather than waiting for a strong arm to painfully force into soda bottle
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I love them- we had a barn fire and lost all of our aqua cones in the fire. Now I am replacing them and have many people stop to ask what are those soda bottles in our garden. How do they work? I guess you could say we are a good advertisement for your product.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I plan to try adding more sand today because yesterday they only held water for 20 minutes.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I have heavy clay soil, so thought this would drip the water deeper into the plant. It drained so fast, I'm not sure of how helpful it was.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Not sure which bottles empty out immediately; but had some that did and some that trickled the water into the ground. No matter it's beneficial as the water is reaching the root area and not having to soak down to the roots. We find these very useful in getting several plants watered well when transplanting, etc. They are great for small tree transplants which require more water to get started.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I had wanted to try Aqua Cones for some time, but never got around to adding them to my supplies. I do not know why I waited.
After increasing the size of my gardens exponentially, I needed to find ways to save water, and save time moving hoses and sprinklers around.
Aqua Cones are the answer.I can now make use of areas that were too far away to drag hoses, and I am saving water which is huge. The added benefit is that you water YOUR PLANTS, not the weeds. It also cuts down on disease promoted by overhead watering. Fantastic idea, and they work as advertised, GREAT product!!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This product is wonderful. It reuses plastic pop bottles so they're out of the landfills, and it directs water to the roots of the plants you want watered. I have used them for over 12 years, keep buying more as I expand my garden, and the old ones are just as effecient and effective as the new ones. I no longer water my entire garden with any hose & sprinkler unless its been very dry and I need to get everything wet and raise the humidity around my garden. These cones are so easy to use, just cut the bottom out of a pop bottle, stick the bottle top into the top of the aqua cone, insert in the soil and fill with water. They have holes along them so you can punch out different depths for the water, such as Sandy,Loam, Clay. You will not regret buying these. They last for years (I have yet to throw any away)and they have saved over half the water I would have used. For me on my little farm with a great water well, I don't have to worry about water bills, but with mulch on the top of the beds, you will see healthy plants and a huge decrease in your water bill.

I planted small trees on a hillside where general watering is not an option. With the aqua cones I can fill the attached bottle as often as needed and be assured the roots of the trees are getting a good watering.

Simply cut off the bottom of a 2 liter jug and you are in business. Each week on my day off, I fill each 2 liter with water. Plants produce outstanding quanity. Healthy plants. Reduced disease to plants, as no splash up from hose watering. Just purchased 3 more bags this year. I wouldn't garden without them!

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use them to make my life easier when watering my tall plants, like dahlias and hollyhocks. It's so easy to attach the cones to the bottles, fill them up, and be assured that the plant is actually getting enough water. And you have the bonus of reusing a plastic bottle instead of sending it to the landfill!

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These work great at getting the water to the plant's roots but they often got clogged with leaves and bugs so they wouldn't drain after awhile. I now slip knee hi hose over the 2 liter bottle and pour my water through the hose into the bottle. It makes all the difference and I can use the cones all growning season without having to clean them out constantly!

These aqua cones are excellent for large potted plants that get root-bound and require a lot of water. The water goes into the soil rather than running off the top of the pot.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use as recommended in the garden for applying fertilizer and water in dry weather. Experiment with different hole sizes depending on your soil type. My wife doesn't like the bottles in her flower beds so I placed the cones where I wanted them without the bottles, then put a 1" PVC pipe cap over them to keep them clean. I got two rigid 1 gallon plastic bottles from the water store and adapted them to a 3/4" PVC pipe (short piece) which fits perfectly in a cone. By cutting this cone off after the second ring (above "clay") it fits well in the cone in the ground and feeds water/fertilizer as it is absorbed. When I'm through watering, I put the bottles away much to my wife's delight.

applied by putting on top of a plastic bottle instead of having a screw cap, as a result it leaks from the top where put on top of bottle opening
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Most of my garden is on drip, but for those plants that are not, these are very helpful getting water to the roots. They also help my boyfriend know what plants to water if I am away for a day or two and not able to take care of the garden myself.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I was away for a week. My pot was bone dry but there was still water in the cone. I don't know if I was doing something wrong. I will try again next year.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
cone too long for pots - should be stubbier and instructions should say that pot should be well watered first - otherwise, the entire bottle empties immediately
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Works good when in a drought condition.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These are wonderful for new shrubs/trees in areas without an irrigation system. I use one or two depending on the size of the plant and fill them once a week to ensure plants get a good start. You can even add a dose of fertilizer if needed without worry.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I love the product and shared with a friend. I will be ordering more of this product. I add my fertilizer to the water and fill the bottles. I use decorative bottle; the sun reflecting makes the plants very pretty.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The concept is great but I think I must have made the holes too large. The water drained out almost immediately.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I credit these watering cones with the healthy condition of my vegetable garden. Getting water directly to the roots, rather than sprinkling the leaves, is much more efficient watering.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Great idea, why didn't I think of this, plus they work. Great if you travel or are having a hot spell or new plant.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Great for plants when there is little rain.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
My second set is for a neighbor, they are great.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Inventive way to keep plants watered when you can't be there. Going on vacation? This suits the bill.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We have been using aqua cones for about six years now. They have helped save numerous plants during the July/August heat and drought in Loudoun County area. Very simple to install and very effective.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These are great for feeding and watering tomato plants without getting water on the plants. I use green 2-liter bottles and they blend in nicely. They are also good for plants that need a bit more water than others.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I grow tomatoes in pots, in a hot climate and I find that periodic hand watering just "washes" through the pot... Aqua cones allow the water to trickle through the soil for 20 minutes to an hour (depending). I have been using them for two years now and LOVE them!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
My neighbor suggested this purchase, but wish the cones were threaded. I still haven't found a bottle to fit tightly that doesn't disperse the water too quickly. I bought 2 packages of cones, but will not use them..... it's just as easy to water with a hose!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I used these cones in my flower pots to keep plants watered during the heat.

I used Aqua Cones to grow the best peppers, eggplants and tomatoes yet. They loved the even, deep watering.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The water ran through (even with the sand in the tube)in a little over one day, therefore, it really didn't save any watering time as I thought it would...still had to water every other day.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Because we pay for our water, we need to find efficient ways to water our plants and bushes. I've used soaker hoses in the past but they water in places where I don't need it. With the aqua cones, I can direct the water to a specific area without wasting any. I also use it in hanging baskets and planters. I put the cone in for a slow, overnight watering, then remove the bottle when it's done. It's much more efficient than watering a basket until it's soaked and watching all the water that drains out of the bottom.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
My friend referred me to the aqua cones for my squash. Now I use them with all my containers. My zucchini and tomatoes love the new system! Especially with this blazing summer we've been having in the Northwest. My beets wouldn't have made it without the cones--they really started thriving once I put in them in. Glad I made the purchase.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I had hoped these cones would help keep my containers from drying out when I go away for a weekend. I followed the instructions for containers, punching out the bottom two holes, but the water flows out way too fast - the bottle is empty within 1 minute from inserting. The result is the same as if I just watered the plant directly, without the cone.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
All of my outdoor plants in pots look better due to being watered down in the roots of the plants rather than watering from the top down. Aqua cones are also great for when I am away for a few days. I have 30 pots in my garden (keeps the rabbits from eating all of my flowers) and rotate the filling of the cones so I don't have to do all of them every day.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Instructions could have been clearer.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I thought the bottles would screw onto the tip. I couldn't cut the plastic bottles as directed...husband did...due to arthritic hands. Sending the unopened ones back!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Last year I grew tomatoes in containers and they were constantly drying out. A fellow gardner had purchased and used Adqua Cones and he gave me several. I was pleased with the results and ordered 12 more cones for this year. This year I planted tomatoes in pots and in the ground.I have used them to primarily feed the plants. This year I have strong healthy plants lots of tomatoes. Would recommend the Aqua Cones.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Good for new tree plantings (3-4" caliper) and 5-15 gal shrubs.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
most effective in containers, but I did put them near new transplants in a raised bed. I had to remove and replace bottles in the cones as water would pour over the spout. overall great for my herb containers.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I put one at each tomatoe plant and it works well and gives a steady amount of water for a healthy plant.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Our hanging tomato plants would not hold moisture and the plants went from wet to dry overnight. With the Aqua Cones the plants get a consistent amount of moisture. The plants have taken off since we started using them.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I have about 2 dozen of these in use . They work well for spot watering for keeping the soil moist around newly planted shrubs and trees. They also work well in large planters where the plants will surround the exposed bottle.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The cones are everything they claim to be. Saves time on watering. Simple to use. Just save your 2 liter bottles and you're set to go!!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
i used a small nail to puncture the hole and then filled it up with a light fertilizer solution which to my surprise drained in seconds. i thought i could slowly feed my trees and was planning to use them on other bushes. basicly, i was very disappointed with this product.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These aqua cones keep weeds under control and only water the roots of the plants, making beautiful plants, no matter how little rain we get. Thank you for the aqua cones. They make my weeding so simple and quick.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
these did not work, followed instructions but the water ran out into the plants immediately
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Ingenius way to keep the hanging baskets happy while we are away somewhere. I shared some of the six with my daughter-in-law to use at their summer cottage - perfect!
Our experience shows using the one liter bottle is preferable since the two liter bottle is a bit top heavy. Of course, if using in the garden to water a specific area, that would not be an issue.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
LOVE THESE! What a great idea. Saves me time in the long run
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use the product for new trees; easy to use; I have seen a difference in growth
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Waters well for several days.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I used these cones for my patio containers when I went on vacation and I didn't have to have a neighbor water every single day. They are very useful for your thirsty plants!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I move the cones and soda bottles around my garden to water different plants. It works great at getting the water to the roots and not on the foliage.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Have used a number of these in the past without a problem, however these latest ones are not threaded inside and are hard to stop leakage
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We are now able to go away for the weekend without worrying about plants wilting. These are not as attractive, but much better than aqua globes because they are adjustable, hold more & are easy to refill. I even use small water bottles with these for hanging baskets. I also like the idea of repurposing.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
works fine but are not atricve
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
works very well
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Using as alternate method to water. Disappointed that you can not use large gallon plastic bottles or glass wine bottles. They only take a certain size plastic bottle. Product could be more versatile. But a great concept, design needs refining.i
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These are very useful. You need to be careful to not punch too big of a hole into them. I have used these for 4 years with great success. My gardens are loamy with a great deal of compost. I fill these up and they soak the roots over a 3 hr time frame. Also use vegetable grade sand as playground sand will leak faster. If set up and used with the correct sand, these will give you great service. I am going to buy another six since they are on sale.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Besides the fact that you recycle plastic bottles, these cones work perfect in my garden. Although we've gotten an unusual amount of rain this spring/summer and I haven't gotten to use them much, these cones are convenient and easy to fill. I'm looking forward to using them again and again.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The Aqua Cone does help prevent disease by keeping water off the plant leaves and directing the water into the soil. It also allows you to see exactly how much water you are giving the plant. However, it only fits certain types of bottles, so if you do not use those products (e.g., soda pop) and substitute another type of plastic bottle, the cone may leak and not provide a slower drip to the roots. I also suspect that opening just one hole in the cone rather than 2 (as they suggest for containers) would improve the method by slowing down the water flow, but it's an untested theory.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
saves time in watering. Some clog, and you have to check occasionally if not draining, but plants are very happy

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I love these watering cones- this year I added them to my upside down hanging tomato buckets and they allow the water to seep in slowly so the tomatoes get a good drink. We live in sandy country so I also put them near our grapevines, shrubs or any flowers that need spot watering.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
They put the water at the root system. You water the plant and not the weeds. It saves alot of work and waste. I use them on all of my plants. I have purchased two sets.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The holes are easy to punch out; the bottles attach easily. The only problem is that the bottles don't stay full long enough -- and that's just my laziness talking! Good product!

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
green aqua cones push on over the bottle, vs. the orange design which is threaded. The seal between bottle and green cone is inadequate and fluid leaks out too quickly and irregardless of soil moisture content.
I use them in raised beds some distance from a water source, to grow perennials (asparagus, rhubarb, strawberries, raspberries) as well as melons. I also use them on newly planted trees. The concept is great, you can modify the fluid ingredients to fit specific plant needs, but the flow must be regulated.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We bought 3 sets of the Aqua Cones for our tomatoe plants and a few of our other raised bed vegetables. We love them, and our neighbor was so impressed, we had to give her 2 until she could get her own.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I am very happy with the product but found it somewhat difficult to put together at first

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The description of the Aqua Cones should include mention of the need to acquire sand to fill the cones and also suggestions for how to cut the top off the 2-liter bottles. I tried loppers (bad idea) and then a saw with the bottle placed in a vise (better idea).
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Easy to use. I use about two ounces of sand in each cone.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use the Aqua Cones with my tomato plants and my raspberry plants. The cones keep my tomatoes from getting too much or too little water. My raspberry plants suffered last year by being in compacted soil. With the cones, I can get the water right to their roots. Now they're flourishing as a result.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These were useless in my sandy soil as the water ran out too quickly. Then I read all the reviews and learned that some people added sand into the cones and even into the bottles to slow the rate that the water empties out. That makes sense, but I didn't learn the technique in the instructions, which would have been helpful.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I have placed the cones using smaller drink bottles in my potted plants that I have placed on my patio and around my pool. What a great help, especially since I don't check my plants daily. I love the idea of using plastic. We NEVER use glass around our pool; so, the use of glass bulbs was not an option.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
it would be nice if there were threads at the top of the cones to screw the soda bottles into. i have used wine bottles but i have to prop them against the side in order for them to not topple over. a 2 liter is too large and heavy, it just falls over from the weight. great idea, but need improvement.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Love thes aqua cones!! Put them at the base of my tomato plants as well as peppers. The instructions were very easy to understand. I really appreciate the red cones, as they are easy to spot. My plants are very healthy and robust, getting the water at the roots where they need it. I highly recommend these. They are well worth the money and then some.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The Aqua Cones work well in both my container plants near our pool on our back patio and in my specimen plants in our backyard.
We use them with 2 litre bottles.
It certainly helps on the days that we don't have rain here in Southern Florida.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We are disappointed in these items because the water runs through too fast. I thought it would be a very slow drip and would help keep hydrangeas from wilting in the afternoons. If anyone has suggestions, I would be happy to accept them.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These aqua cones help me to gage just how much water I am using. They are so easy to use. I rather use these than soaker hoses. I visit each plant while using the cones and inspect for any potential problems (insects/disease). They are great!

I wish the Aqua Cones were threaded. I also believe the emphasis on clean sand is important. Some bottles are hard to attach.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
They empty in less than 24 hours! If I water with a hose it's every other day. Why bother if it doubles the work.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Great idea for those deck pots with thirst plants that have a tendancy to dry out quickly. They are very easy to fill and place.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
What a great idea! Seems to be working quite well. The water leaches out slowly so the plants get just what they need. I only have to fill them every 3 days when there's no rain,& when it rains they fill themselves. LOVE EM!

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I tried to use these outside in containers along with the terra-sorb and hydromat. The water just goes through. I used one inside and it seemes to work. However, it is unsightly and does collect algae in a short time.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This product does not work in my garden. I punched the holes for sandy soil and the water runs out immediately. I thought it would be a gradual deep watering system. One other negative is that the user needs to fill the cones with sand. I had trouble buying less than 50 lb. of sand. One garden center had it in 3 lb. bags, but I had to shop around. This might be a great product for people with more clay content.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use these cones to water my potted plants. I was tired of soaking the entire soil surface with water and attracting mosquitos-this simple device goes directly to the roots, leaving the first inch of soil completely dry and unattractive to those pesky buggers. I've also had better luck with new plants in the garden-targeting the roots. These cones were also much more affordable for me than the pot reservoirs.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Great in hanging baskets, and other container plants. Clear bottles make it almost undetectable and the openness of using a cut bottle makes them easy to fill. Rain even fills them naturally when not being used under cover.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This is an item more for getting water to the roots - and not for a gradual watering device. I was trying to turn a non self-watering planter into one by using this item - not a good idea - it waters the plant instantly, and I wanted something that would HOLD water and water gradually. Hence why I returned it!

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I purchased these to rig a slow watering system for Topsytervy planters which I am having a most difficult time keeping irrigated. With some trial and error I have made these work. I will caution that the water drains rather quickly so don't punch too many holes. Using sand in both the product and the bottle significantly slows the water flow rate.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I ordered one set for my tomatoes and then ordered a second set for my other plants.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
useful under al my hostas
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use it in my large potted plant. It will be great when I am on vacation. I recycle. It's a great product to use plastic bottles. Would like to be able to control the water flow from the product better.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Keeps water available especially in the heat of
summer for plant growth and bearing fruit
especially tomatoes and pepper and eggplants.
I don't have to waste valuable rain water that
I collect in the rain barrels by watering the whole garden. The water goes directly where needed the most- the root system. It also keeps the weeds down in the rows since only the plants
that need the water get it. Disadvantage Later in the season more things can collect in the bottles like insects and leaves and keep the water from draining to the soil and the bottles need to be cleaned out and sometimes the drain holes themselves have to be reemed out.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
no problem, exactly what i needed
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
..much cheaper than the glass bulbs..
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Started using the Aqua Cones last year and they made watering new trees and shrubs over our 5 acres so easy. It's great to be able to water deeply, down to the roots. I'm sure they are the reason I had such a high success rate with new plantings.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We live in Austin, Texas where they have restricted when we water down to twice a week, due to the drought. I love my garden though and use what little rain water I've collected or the hose to keep these filled and my garden uses what it needs. It takes the guess work out watering for me!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I thought this was a great idea as my lanai plants dry out very fast. However, it drains fast and empties in a few minutes. I use good planting mix with a lot of body and it holds water well. I would not purchase this again.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
It does what it is suppose to do at low cost.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The Aqua Cones have three soil types in which they can be used. You just use an ice pick or something else pointed and sharp, and push through the outlined area for your soil type. You have to use your own bottle, however, and those are not particularly easy to find. Soft drink bottles where I live have too wide of a mouth for the Aqua Cones. I had to use 1-liter Tonic Water or Club Soda bottles to find some that would fit the neck of the Aqua Cone. The instructions say that to release the water in the bottle faster, cut off the bottom of the bottle you use. I didn't do this because the Aqua Cones already emptied the bottles faster than I wanted them to. However, I live on a large property and have some newly planted shrubbery that I cannot reach with a garden hose, so for this purpose the Aqua Cones work great.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I will order more as needed.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I've put my cones in a large pot that is filled with tomatoes and basil. I only have to water it weekly!
I put one cone by a plant that is outside my irrigation system. It was barely surviving and now it is thriving. I don't forget about it because of the aqua cone right by it!
I can only imagine lots of other uses for these great gadgets!!!

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
As others have commented, opening only one hole lets the water stream out. I'm using these in pots outside, but I've removed the base of a large water bottle and fill it when I'm watering the garden. I would not use these indoors; for that I use Plant Nanny (found at Smith & Hawken)--more expensive but actually works as advertised.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
i have ordered several different items of this kind and none have worked
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This unit is used in a small green house, they are neat, tidy and easy to use.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I live in the desert. Have a huge backyard and do all my own gardening. The 'Aqua cones' are most useful to keep alive those many plants that are 'off' the sprinklers' reach,..and to put fertilizer down into newly planted bushes, etc. Love 'em.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We filled the cone with sand and assumed it would slow the water drain but it did not It drained almost immediately and we punched the hole in the cone for clay. I was hoping for a little slower delivery of the water.
It does get the water down below the surface but so would a deep root waterer.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These are so easy to use. I've used them for years. I'm getting extra this time so I won't run out anytime soon.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We thought we could use this for times when we were out of town. Just fill and leave, but the water empties within one day and the soda bottle collapse pushing the water out so that the plant is drowned with too much water. It does not work like a drip system. More work than just hand watering.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use these for really hot days when I won't be home to water...they're my insurance policy against dried out, sun-fried tomatoes!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These are great, but very big. So I'll be using them happily to prevent my citrus and other potted plants from drying out. Still, I'd like a smaller version for smaller pots. But you can use smaller bottles (2 liter, 1 liter, or even a little smaller than that if the neck is big), so that's a nice thing.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I used them when I put out my new starts to make sure they stayed evenly moist at they took root. I also interspersed them throughout an area I had seeded, to keep the ground moist until germination. They are wonderful in my container garden. I use the clear bottles with the cones, and the plants quickly grow to a density and height that hides the bottle
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Clever idea for using empty liter soda bottles. Takes care of watering in drought conditions, when we are out of town, or the extra drink new plants need. We bought 50 of them & might get more to use as stocking stuffers for the gardeners in the family.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
When I water my window boxes from a hose or can, much of the water runs off and is wasted. These eco-friendly spikes water slowly and nothing is wasted.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The water runs out of the bottle and through the cone like a sieve no matter how many holes you punch or how small you make them. I have found that glass bottles with long necks - like wine bottles - stuck into the ground work better. Also, the picture in the catalog shows the bottom cut off the bottle, but the instructions specifically state not to do this. I tried it both ways and it made no difference.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I use one Aqua Cone per tomato plant and find them very easy to use. By using them, I have just to put water in each receptacle instead of watering the entire garden. I bought more to use with other plants such as basil and peppers. Besides, it is a good reuse of plastic soda bottles.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
If you puncture the holes as per the directions the flow is too great - they will drain quickly. One small whole at deepest watering point is all that is necessary. Also, the texture of the sand is important - the denser the sand, the slower the trickle

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I lover my aqua cones very practical and allow you to recycle small plastic bottles.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
My husband and I try to get to our cottage frequently, but the patio containers really suffered when we missed a weekend. Now the aqua cones provide the water needed to keep our potted plants happy and healthy when we're not there. They do the same great job at home when we go on vacation.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
If you can get over how odd it looks next to your plants, it really works great. No longer have to water-log my plants in the morning. This product keeps the soil in the containers perfectly moist all day without the soil ever going completely dry. My tomatoes and cucumbers are pampered!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I water newly planted shrubs with an aquacone for a slow release, no run-off irrigation. My confusion with the instructions was that I interpreted the sand was to fill up the bottle (vs. just the cone attachment) 3/4 full. After receiving my second order, I called customer service and asked about this and was set straight. I had already corrected myself but wondered what was with the instructions. Duh!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Love the idea that I can now use my used soda bottles to water my plants! Talk about recycling!
These are just the right size- not too big so they won't flop out of the plant container; and if I have to go away I can keep my plants watered for several days. I bought some for ma and a friend and we both love 'em!
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Much more reliable than having a someone water when we are away.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I purchased these because I have been traveling alot this summer and couldn't keep up with the watering that my container plants needed. They did not seem to help at all to maintain some moisture while I was away. I would not recommend or purchase these again.

The Aqua Cones seem to work well outdoors. I have several planted in the ground next to plants that like extra water. They do a good job releasing a bunch of water and saturating the area at first, then slow down for a gradual release.
I have tried a couple in potted plants with potting soil, and from this experience I would not use the Aqua Cones indoors in pots. The cones in potted plants quickly release water into the pot, without ever slowing down for a gradual release. I would guess the potting soil is to blame, versus the plants planted in native soil. For this reason I would not recommend the Aqua Cones for use with indoor plants, or you run the risk of overflowing the pots and the water leaking indoors.
Also, the instructions say to use bottles that are 2 liter or the smaller 20 oz. soda bottles, and I have found this is a requirement you have to follow to the letter. I tried a large water bottle that was 1.5 liters, but the bottle's neck was a larger size than the 2 liter or 20 oz. soda bottles, and it would not fit in the neck of the Aqua Cone. Other 20 oz. water bottles worked just fine.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I tried them with different size bottle just to see if it made a difference, but it didn't. Either the water doesn't drain out or drains out like a sewer. I used the middle hole selection for my patio plants. I just think that I wasted my money. The premiss seemed good.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
these aqua cones work excellent on my hill side where I cannot water well and cannot put in a drip system. If you use clear plastic bottles you can hardly see them. They really work well in clay soil.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We used them for watering our container and hanging plants when we went away for a weekend. We filled the bottles the morning we left.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I used this product to send water specifically to the root area of my veggie plants as rain has been sparse. I think it is a great idea especially because you use 2 liter soda bottles which gives them a good use and they are always available. What I didn't like was that the holes were not drilled through. I did not do a good job opening the holes with my utility knife.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Very useful and helpful.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Since the cones aren't threaded they don't seal when you use a soda bottle according to the directions. This means that the bottles leak. You may as well just stand over your plants with a garden hose because other than stabbing the roots there is no long term watering solution here.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I needed someway to water flower pouches. These worked great, especially using a 24 oz. soda bottle. I had used a much smaller version and like these alot better. I did share my Aqua Cones with a friend.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
There are many times when dry spells occur during the growing seasons. New plantings, including bushes and trees, must be watered or they will die. These cones are so easy to use. Oftentimes I use three at a time on a bush, shrub or new tree.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The Aqua Cones kept my tomato plants watered while I was away for a few days. They were very happy plants.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Aqua cones save time and money
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The Aqua Cones are a great way to water both in the garden and outdoor flower pots. Have used them to water newly planted perennials.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
These watering stakes are a great way to add slow and deep watering to your organic garden - red for tomatoes, strawberries and roses, green for peppers, kale, peas, etc.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
In porch containers: Could not get an even or predictable flow of water. OK for monitored daily watering through the hot hours of the day, but really needed daily checking to make sure watering actually occurred. NOT good for long weekend watering - 80% of the plants died for lack of water.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We haven't used these very long yet, but they seem to do "the trick". Easy to attach to pop bottles and easy to fill up. Water gets right to the roots of our plants with these.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I SIMPLY DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH OF THESE THIS YEAR. VERY NICE TO USE FOR POTS IN THE CORNERS YOU DON'T ALWAYS NOTICE OR FOR THIRSTY PLANTS LIKE HYDRANGEAS.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We hoped they would work well with our tomato plants. Would probably work for potted plants, but would not be attractive for that purpose/
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
we had a hard time getting this to work. It was difficult to fit into bottle and it didn't seem to flow right ;(((
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Once I got the sand and the bottles ready, this seemed to work fine. In some places it was a little tipsy so I had to be sure that it was secured in the ground.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
It was harder getting these set up than I thought it would be. First, I didn't know I would need sand to fill the cones. Had to get sand. Punching out the proper watering holes takes some arm/hand strength. And if you don't remove the ring that's left on the neck of the bottle after taking off the cap, they have a pretty good leak. If you do remove the ring the leak is minimal and could be stopped completely with a little extra effort. The water does seem to run out fairly quickly, but at least it's running out into the ground around the plant instead of off the surface. This system wouldn't make a good baby-sitter for your plants while you were gone for a few days, but it will allow you to water more quickly and deeply when you're in a hurry.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
We are only at our vacation home on weekends. We still like to have flowers in the beds, container gardens and patio tomatoes. These watering spikes help us put some extra water in the right places when we are not there. Unfortunately, in light soils such as potting mix the water tends to run out very fast even using the lowest holes. There needs to be an adjustable hole size to keep the water from running out within the first hour.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I gave these to a friend who lives in a hot inland area. When the temps climb, his patio plants [impatiens, begonias, rosemary, gerbera daisies] were dried to the bone by the time he got home from work, even though he watered in the morning. He froze bottles of water and let the sun create a drip system out of these spikes, and the plants stay watered all the hot day. He even took a week off and came home to healthy plants!

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This is the perfect solution to watering plants when I am traveling. This summer I used them in my container tomato plants. I would buy more for my other potted plants as well.
The only con I can think of is that the instructions state one liter or two liter bottles and this is true but...you need to bring the cone with you to choose a bottle with the correct size opening at the top because they are not standard anymore.

The aqua cones are just perfect to keep plants well hydrated during the warm, dry days of summer.
I liked them so much I ordered more...bet you will too because they are easy to use and do a great job.

garden needs to have deep soil for these to work. My water always spills out between the cone and the 2 liter.

Gardner's Supply needs to have a sturdy 2 liter bottle available for cones.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I seldom write reviews about products but decided to write about the Aqua Cones because of the extreme ratings of the reviews.
I came across these extreme ratings when I decided to order more for my landscape plants. Overall, I found the Aqua Cones to perform quite well. On three of the six I received, the water did empty quicker than expected. I refilled them and found the three in question did empty slower. I presumed the initial slowness was due to the plants needing water and one of the Aqua Cones had a bottle improperly seated.
I used the coarsest sand available when I installed the cones and made sure to punch holes on where indicated on the cones. The Aqua Cones with their attached bottles can be easily hidden from normal view when plants are "bushy" Rhododendron, Azaleas, and similar plants.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This was a great product for helping a few plants that the sprinkler doesn't hit that well. Keeps them well hydrated...Read the directions, I didn't and didn't add sand to the cones, which is what regulates the water flow. Once I did that, they worked great.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I planted several young trees, and these keep them watering on a regular basis, when the rains are not as plentiful. I can seem the trees growing taller everyday.
Wonderful item to use.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The cones are versatile and function well. In the directions, it indicates that you should open 2 holes. I would suggest opening only 1 for slower drainage. Other than that, it is reasonably priced and functions well.

I especially use them in my pots that are out of the reach of the sprinkler system. It keeps them moist so I don't have to water each and every day. They are terrific!!!!

Suggest you cut off only one corner of the water bottle to fill.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I used this product to keep my indoor floor plants more thoroughly watered. This worked well for most. I saw some improvement in leaf drop (less) and less drying of leaves. This fig tree liked it so much it put out new leaves.
I also used it for uniform watering to tomatoes and hanging baskets. This kept the flowers dry in the porch hanging plants.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I purchased these thinking I might use them to water large potted orange trees while away for vacation. They emply much more quickly than I thought they would. I was hoping for more of a slow drip irrigation type thing.

Your instructions don't work
cut off top of 2 liter bottle and couldn't insert it. Used it without cutting off
followed instructions for container and the bottle emptied in 5 minutes.
Complete waste of time and money! Do you ever check these out?

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Some drained out immediately. Some never drained at all. I also tried filling the cones with sand prior to attaching the bottle but that didn't help the situation.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
I found the aqua cones very helpful in getting fertilizer directly to the roots of the plants I wanted to fertilize. I ended up using 2 liter bottles and they have worked great. I added the fertilizer granules directly in to the bottle and then filled them with water. That's a much faster and easier way to use them.

This product either empties immediately or never does empty. I am very surprised you sell it. It is a complete wate of money.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
This product can be modified to fit a 3 liter and or a gallon milk jug. I do it by tapering the tip of the cone slightly so that it fits INSIDE the neck of the larger container. Larger container = more volume.
I have recommended it many times and passed along your catolog.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
the cones are easy to use, just fill them with water and pop on the cones.
a great way to recycle plastic bottle and when done put the bottles in your recycle bin.
the draw back is that they are too large for small house plants

Use with my tomato plants and shared a couple with my daughter.
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Perhaps the holes are too large. i can water a plant thoroughly and then insert a cone and water empties out immediately.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
During the prolonged drought we have had here in Atlanta, which has included watering restrictions, the watering cones have been a great help. I am able to fill them with recycled water from in the home (the tub and sink water collected while waiting for the water to get hot). They are especially helpful while trying to get newly planted perennials established.

used for newly planted bushes
Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
Soda bottles are now too flimsy to be used for this watering purpose. The bottles must be refilled daily. Harder plastic is necessary.

Comments about AquaCone® Watering Devices:
The 2 liter bottles that I have tried are too flimsy and don't screw into the cone well enough. They drip. Or, the cones do not drip but get clogged by the dirt.

I use the aqua cone for a tomato plant near my patio in a full sun area. The soil is clay with some garden soil mixed in. The thing I like about it is...it waters the roots of the plant.

These cones are perfect for plants when you go on vacation. They don't over or under water the plant so it is not stressed in anyway by lack of attention while you are away.
