Comments about Revolution Planter Organic Replenishment Kit:

Used an Early Girl plant which was sturdy and grew fast. The very unusual hot weather did not effect the plant badly if the watering directions were followed. I must say that the flavor of these tomatos outdid all of my friends very good tomatos and the farmstands as well.
Only drawback - the planter was very heavy and took two of us to add fertilizer and change strips.

Look forward to using it again next year.

Comments about Revolution Planter Organic Replenishment Kit:

I thought that this was a good idea. an easy way to get my tomatoes out of the ground since I developed fusarium wilt this year. For Texas, I got these started too late (June) so the heat kept the tomatoes from setting, but my plants are also small for 3 months of age. I did notice that the plants wanted to grow up and the plants broke under the weight. I am also dissapointed that the fabric is rotting after 3 months. The water indicator was useless in this heat and the capillary strips were not working well. I ended up lifting the bowls and watering directly. I also still have some type of disease going on again with these. I am going to give it another try in March, the optium time for planting tomatoes in central Texas.

I use the hanging baskets in my greenhouse. The water reservoir is great I have a drip system set up so I just have to watch the water level. You do need a sturdy hanger to hang the baskets from. My plants have a tendency to grow upward instead of hanging down.

The capillary matting is not very sturdy. I found all of a sudden that it was clogged. when I brought them in to wash, it was a mess. Where can you buy just capillary matting? I don't want the whole kit and caboodle, I just started them this spring. the one washed out good, but the other one was worse for wear after the storms we have been having and the water turned green.....ugg.

I purchased one of the other tomato hangers a couple of years ago and it was flimsy, unattractive, and didn't do well. I now have this system...all of the items in it are sturdy and will last some time. Don't have any tomatoes yet, but this is such a complete system I don't know how it could fail. Gardener's supply has thought of everything you need to have a good crop...

Comments about Revolution Planter Organic Replenishment Kit:

It would be much better if the top of the four arm hanger could rotate thereby allowing ALL four planters to get equal sun.
I found that the water containers and capillary strips get contaminated with fungus etc. but you cannot remove the containers for cleaning or to replace the capillary strips because of the hanging chains.
In future I will water with a watering can as needed.

I was skeptical if I could grow tomotoes upside down..but I can. It was easy to put together, but a bit heavy to lift afterwards, but to be expected after adding soil. Within one week my plant has doubled in size and I have no doubt it will produce great eating. It is attractive and blends right in with my veggie garden.Frankly, this will be the way I grow tomotoes for now on and I will try it with cucumbers next year.

Some aspects of the new design are improved over last year. Last year, I traded hornworms for blossom end rot. We'll see if the blossom end rot is still a problem this year in this rainy location.
The missing hook, critical to hanging the assembly, was quite annoying. Concocted a makeshift solution.

These are heavy when full--thankfully my husband was home to hang them. The water wicking system seemed to work well, but my tomatoes did not thrive or produce. I bought the replenishment kit , and will give it one more try. I don't think my tomatoes liked getting their little heads crammed through the opening, so will buy smaller plants this year. The concept is good, and it does free up space, so I hope this year will be better.

Comments about Revolution Planter Organic Replenishment Kit:

Tomatoes usually sprawl out all over and are messy. The Tomato Tree keeps them contained in a small area. You don't even have to have a lawn, just a balcony or deck with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day.

Comments about Revolution Planter Organic Replenishment Kit:

As a kit the planter mix and the planter are ideal. The wicking system seems to work well and the size gives plenty of room for the tomato plant. Have gardened for 50+years and find this an ideal size compared to other 'upside down planters' as well as being durabile in construction and attractive in appearance.

Comments about Revolution Planter Organic Replenishment Kit:

The upgrades made to this kit were desperately needed! The new swivel hook, water indicator and extra capillary strips will resolve all of the issues I had with the planter last year.

Bottom line - if you have a sunny location and like tomatoes - use this as your version of an economic stimulus plan. One tomato plant can produce $100's of dollars worth of fruit each growing season. Considering the kit and a nice plant will cost you under $50, there is no TASTIER way to save money this summer!

with updated kit that this will work better. I'm
not giving up. I also would like to find other

It would be nice if the fabric liner was made from a non-toxic, reuseable, mold-resistant material, to eliminate waste and the need for a replacement kit.

Comments about Revolution Planter Organic Replenishment Kit:

Last year I tried the "upside down planter". I planted 3 tomato plants, 2 in planters, one in the ground next to the arbor that I hung the planters. Planters produced bigger fruit with no problems from bugs or pests, disease or contact with the ground but it was sometimes hard to tell if reservoir had gone dry and capillary action had stopped. Ground plant benefited from attention to watering other 2 plants and produced very well going up the trellis of the arbor. Be sure you use on a very secure location. First choice would not support weight and had to put up an arbor to hang planters.

Comments about Revolution Planter Organic Replenishment Kit:

Sounded like a good idea, but when I put everything together it was quite heavy. It did not produce the amount of tomatoes as shown. I was very disappointed however, I may give it another try this season since I still have it in the garden. Will keep you posted.

Comments about Revolution Planter Organic Replenishment Kit:

I've seen other similar products and thought about purchasing them but when I saw the wire cage that was it.

I purchased 4 of them and loved everything about them especially the watering pan/tray in the top until the end of the season and the top of the grow bag started to deteriorate, just dried up and cracked. Any part of the bag that was not damp with the mix cracked leaving holes in the top.

That's probably why they're now offering the replenishment kit.

I'm saying I would not recommend because of the deteriorating bag and cost factor to replace, if the bag held up better I'd be thrilled with it.
