We've used the upside-down planter for two previous seasons with our own soil and such, but are already getting faster results with this kit - tomatoes setting within the first week! With our short growing season, this is a significant advantage. Even with the older, unhinged cage, the zipper is a nice feature, too.

I didn't have very good luck with this last year so am trying again. I bought the water scale thing to hopefully keep the watering steady and accurate. I really liked the zippered bag as this made it much easier to plant the tomato plant. It is rather heavy when filled and I would reccommend a two person job in filling and hanging it up. Will let you know in a couple months how it actually worked this summer.

We bought this system last year and the tomatoes were great! I ordered the refills and the two plants I have are already blooming and one has a small fruit starting. I used Early Girl Bush and Better Bush plants this year. They seem to be doing even better than the medium sized plants I used last year. I have no problems with the watering system. The only thing I can figure out is the folks who tried to use them put the strips on upside down so they couldn't absorb the water. My plants stay nice and hydrated with those little indicators staying green. I only wish I had waited to get the opening cages that came out this year, but the zipper on the refill bag makes the old cages easier to use.

I purchased the hanging tomato planter last year and needed to replace the bag for this year because I left it outside over the winter. Buying the whole kit was the only option. I would have rather bought just the replacement bag. That being said, I did use the replacement bag, soil, replacement strips and fertilizer. No tomatoes yet, but it is early in the season. My tomato plant, however, looks great.

I like the changes as it is easier to plant the tomato with an open side for the cage and the bag. I hang the planter from a support beam on the patio. Very little disease and bug issue last year. Hopes for lots of tomatos this year

This system is great for tomatoes--they are clean, disease free, and easy to pick. They are a bit heavy but once you have them hung no worries. The capillary strips decomposed after one season, but the following season I didn't use the reservoirs and was able to keep the plants well watered. The newer model that is hinged addressed the minor struggle of filling the bags. GREAT SYSTEM--highly recommend especially if you have limited space.

The package was great except that the new cage (which splits in the middle) was not sent. Two packages of dirt where sent whereas only one was needed. A swap there woul have been nice. I had to use last years cage which made it difficult to insert the plent roots.

Everything you need to get planting except the plants. The new bags work great even in the old witre cages , just need a little patience with the zipper. Hopefully they will last more than one season but if not, the replacements are reasonabily priced. This is the best hanging system out there!.

We had a major problem with verments getting into our tomatoes but with the upside down hanging we did not. I planted carrots in the top instead of using the water tray. We were concerned about mosquito breeding in the water tray. Worked out great. It is hard to store so we left it hanging and empty for the winter. Then we discovered you could use it as a bird feeder for the small ones during the cold. My neighbor put hers in the patio for the winter with fake ferns.

Last season I had tomatoes from July 5th to November 8th...amazing. I fertilized according to the directions and changed the strips every 4-6 weeks. This is more often than recommended but living on the coast of South Carolina, it was necessary to continue the growing season. I did have some difficulty planting last year but thought it was me being a beginner...but I love the improvements offered in the new replenishment kits. I need all the help I can get...thank you.
