Last summer I used an organic tomato kit for the first time. It was great, but the tomato vines outgrew the top of the cage. I had to juryrig an extension which was unwieldy and unattractive. My new cage extension took care of the problem easily.

My single heirloom tomato plant grew up and out so quickly that by the end of summer, it towered almost a foot higher than the extension. The sturdy frame made short work of tying and supporting the vines as they grew up and up...and up. Honestly, I feel this optional 'extra' is an absolutely necessary component when growing tall tomato vines.

I should have bought this at the same time I purchased the Tomato Success Kit. My plants grew so quickly and so full that I was almost too late in adding the additional height for the vines. I have two plants growing in the box and there's almost not enough room for all the vines once the extra enclosure was added, but so far so good. This is a much more attractive option than I had last year, with plants drooping over traditional cages and looking straggly.

Buy these when you're purchasing your Tomato Success Kit, because your tomatoes grow tall very quickly! It's still possible to add them later, as we did, but it would have been easier to do it when we first planted.

I'm glad I purchased the cage extensions because our plants are growing like crazy and we'll need them within another week; we planted our tomato plants 3 weeks ago. This is our 1st season, therefore, I have not stored the cage extension, however, it arrived flat and I believe that it will store conveniently at the end of the season.
So far, I would recommend this product.

I bought the self-watering tomato success kit last winter and planted two indeterminate cherry tomato plants in it this spring. They have done so well the plants are now between 7 and 8 feet tall. However, the kit comes only with supports to about 3 feet, so I ordered these. I have to say that they are an improvement on the original supports. The fasteners are user friendly and sturdy - those on the lower supports fell apart under weight (leading to a bit of a catastrophe) and are no held together with zip ties and bungy. The tops - these supports - have had NO similar problem. I wish that they had had the originals go together like this.

This is my first year with the Organic Tomato Success Kit, so I didn't buy the extension when I bought the kit....I should have! The tomato plants shot up so quickly! It fits together perfectly and will not be a problem storing it for the winter. Definately buy the extension when you buy the kit!

The very tiny tomato plants I purchased from my local nursery have quadrupled in size in two short weeks in the short time I've had them planted in the Success Kit.
The plants will probably grow over the extensions as well, so I might have to add an additional one as well.

Easy to assemble and attach to the existing tomatoe cage, this product is also easy to store since it folds flat. It is strong enough to hold up to the wind on my third-story deck.

Once assembled tomato success cages work very well but assembly is time consuming for such a simple product. Plastic parts wear out and become loose. Storage requires keeping track of too many parts,,, one lost part and cage becomes useless.

If you like the heirloom and indeterminates, this is the best. Really kept those long stems in order.
