Comments about Tomato Cages:

By the time I ordered these tomato cages, the tomatoes were too big. However, I've used them to separate the tomatoes from the beans. They are working great. The beans are climbing on them instead of the tomato plants. I think the tomatoes must love the beans because we've had more tomatoes than we've every had.

I used the tomato cages for the first time this year and midway through the season purchased a second set to stack on top of the first. They have held the weight of the plants extrememly well and the plants are now at the top of the second cages and over 5 feet high. I'm very happy with how they have worked and they will definitely make harvesting the fruit much easier.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

These cages are wonderful. I have been using the heavyweight ladders for years on my tomatoes and decided to try these this year. The ladders are strong and a little taller but require a lot of tying to train the plants. These require almost none at all and they are much sturdier than I expected. I'll buy more for next year. I also love the way they collapse for storage. A truly wonderful product.. pricey but worth it.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

We like the tomato cages. This is our first year using them. Two of the things we like about them is the generous size so the plant isn't squeezed together which makes picking tomatoes easier and the large grid. We just wish they had longer legs to put into the ground and weren't so expensive.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

So far these cages are working out wonderfully. I already have a second set stacked on top. I haven't even wired them together yet because I don't get much wind here. They look great and will collapse for easy storage. I just ordered 12 more for my second tomato bed for the late started tomatoes. Hope they get here before the tomatoes are too big to get their current supports off!

Comments about Tomato Cages:

Finally! After years of having round tomato cages fall over after a breeze, staking plants up to see them flop on the ground by August, I decided to go ahead and spend some $$ to buy quality cages for my tomatoes. They work great! The square cages support the plants, allow access to the tomatoes and look so professional standing in shiny rows. They promise to fold up and store - can't tell you how relieved I am to have a solution. Worth every penny I paid!

Comments about Tomato Cages:

I am using these cages to support the growth of new tomato plants and yet I needed something on which to wind some netting around so that the tomatos would only be eaten by humans. The cages are sturdy, tall enough, and sturdy enough to protect my tomato plants. You can water the plants easily with the cages in place. It works much better for me than the circular cages that are more widely available.

These things cost a lot more than those cone shaped things you can pick up for $2.95. But I think they are worth it. Very sturdy, even in high wind. Will fold up for storage. Taller than the cone things. Don't get bent out of shape. If they last for 5 years or more, they will be worth it. I can't see any reason, at this point, that they won't last at least that long.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

These arrived totally assembled, unfolded fine (well, one "joint" got entangled with another for a few seconds, but that's all) and folded back up nicely and will store flat. I will never use those cone shaped cages again. These are sturdy and if you experience a lot of wind at your location, you can use Gardeners' Earth Staples to help hold them down, I haven't needed to. My only gripe--I hope I'm not overlooking them--is that there are no extensions for their square cages. I found them for the rectangular ones, but not these. My tomato plants already topped these by more than a foot. I'll be buying more, I'll just be sure to get determinate, rather than indeterminate, tomato plants, I guess!

I used 4 of these in my raised vegetable garden on wheels. Last year, the traditional tomato cages I used fell over, because the soil depth was not sufficient to support them. Comments about Tomato Cages:

growing up with an italian dad who just loved tomatoes, i was very surprised that i now grow 5 heirloom varieties per year. hate the normal cages. they suck. too small and you end up using other ugly things, as they deleted the original word i wanted to use, to make it useful. saw these, read the comments, bought them. first, my 74 year old dad loved them. put them together like that. my tomatoes are HUGE and this cage is perfect. just go and make sure you move the branches early so u don't break them later on. like i did. the cages can disappear depending on the size of the plant. really useful. will def buy more for my dad's bd gift and me. and yeah, they are pricey but u will never buy another one again. u can use it for other things. they are durable. i just love them and i realllllly hate tomato plants

Sturdy, doesn't have to be opened into a box shape. You can fold it up flat and use it as a small emergency trellis, or you can fold it into a diamond shape for smaller spaces or odd plants. However, I don't see how you can stack two of these without bending/mangling the feet of the top cage.

I'm using these cages for four tomato plants which I have started from seeds. They look great and I like that at the end of the season I can fold the cages flat for storage. My plants are not very large yet, so we'll see if the cages are too flimsy for large plants... right now I am optimistic. They look so much neater than traditional round cages.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

I am using these for melons instead of tomatoes, but i am quite pleased at the sturdiness of these cages, I have them lined up in the rows as diamond-shapes, my only worry is they may not be tall enough, but we'll see that later in the season. But MUCH more durable than the ones i previously bought from a national chain store, which bent and came apart at the loosely welded spots.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

I have used all kinds of tomato cages and they use to drive me crazy since they would not handle the weight of the tomatoes at the height of the season and fall over. These are perfect, you don't have to put them on right away (since they go easily over the plants even when taller/wider). They are support the plants beautifully and I have never had one fall over with the weight of the tomatoes. I have been using them for 4 years and I will never use anything else! Cheaper versions DO NOT WORK! A fellow gardener tried and ended up switching to these!

Comments about Tomato Cages:

I was at work (firefighter/paramedic) when the tomato cages arrived. My wife is 9 months pregnant and set them up in a matter of minutes. We ordered just four and only have a small raised bed on our half-acre urban lot. We put one around the cucumber vine, too. [...]easy to setup/store. Out of curiosity, I took one down when I returned home. These fold completely flat unlike the ones I tried to make out of Home Depot rolled wire fence material. We will definitely purchase more if our garden expands. Thanks again, Gardener's Supply.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

I love these tomato cages because they keep my garden well organized. The cages do an excellent job keeping the fruit off of the ground so the tomatoes are much healthier and easier to harvest. It is easier to keep the weeds under control with the plants contained in their cages. The price is on expensive side but the cages are well constucted and will last for years. I recommend that all rust and dirt be removed before storing the cages away in the fall.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

This tomato cage is super easy to set up, in fact it just pops open. It fits nicely into the Tomato size gardening bag which was one of the reasons why I originally purchased this item. However, I liked them so much I purchased 4 more for use in our actual garden. I have the cages in 3 of the tomato gardening bags which have a tomato plant and the other 2 have zucchini plants. My only fear is that they will be too small once all the plants are mature and bearing fruit, they are only about 3 ft in height. I probably should have just purchased the larger size cages. But this is my first year actually growing a vegetable garden out of containers, so I guess you live and you learn!

The other reason I got these cages was for easy storage. I liked how they folded flat. Since this is my first season using them, I am hoping they will be just as easy to fold flat as they were to pop open.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

In addition to 2 veggie cages for my pepper plants, I ordered the set of 4 taller tomato cages. They were simple to "open" and should be tall enough for my tomato plants. The only downside - I have a small 3 x 3 raised bed and three cages won't fit side by side. They are just a smidgen wider than the veggie cages, but that makes them too wide. I used 2 and put a regular round "cheap" cage [...] around my third tomato plant in the center (I'll do a cage comparison experiment this summer). The third cage is protecting a new red bud tree in a corner garden area - works just fine! The fourth cage is in the basement; for just one person with a small yard, 4 was one too many but they are a bit too expensive for me to purchase singly.

I use these in a tomato green box, two side by side are a perfect fit! Because of the size I can wrap screen around them, cable them together so they are tight, pin the bottom of the screen to my box and keep the little critters (ground squirrels mostly) from chewing up my plants. Hooray!! I am so glad I ordered two and may order more later for other plants, possibley some vines.

These are the best vegetable cages that I have seen on the market. They can be stacked on top of each other and tied down on each corner with a zip tie for added height. I use them for tomato, cucumbers, and pole beans. When I need smaller spacing in the open holes for tendrils to latch onto I wrap & secure sturdy string horizontally & vertically through the cage openings. They are quick and easy to install and hold up well with the strong winds in Florida especially when you use the extra tall earth staples found on this website. They also fold flat for easy storage when not in use. I have purchased 4-5 sets of these over the past year.

This is our first time growing tomatoes. The transplants arrived, we laid the mulch paper, planted the tomatoes, and then the cages set-up right on top of them quickly and easily. I just got mine and put them out today. They unfolded easily, but I have yet to see how they store at the end of the season. I decided to use some of my old tomato cages and gradually add these yearly, but now I wish I had ordered more. The difference between the round tomato cages and these are quite obvious! The cages are sturdy and have good spacing between levels. The height of the cages is great, and I can still add on if needed. I'm giving them a 4 until the end of the season. Other than that, great product!

The cages are very sturdy, a much thicker gauge of wire than you will generally find. They hinge at the corners which makes them easy to work with and they fit perfectly into the tomato bags. I have also found them to fit perfectly over my Earthbox and feel they work better than the system that you have to purchase for these boxes. Very happy.

I ordered 4 of these cages for my small garden. They are so, so sturdy! The square cages are still standing tall and straight! Very well worth the price!

Comments about Tomato Cages:

We used the cages in conjunction with the tomato grow bags. Since there were no instructions, we filled the first two grow bags and planted them before attempting to install the frames. This method did not work well because the cages will not insert completely into the grow bag.

When installed correctly, they support the grow bag well, but are harder to fill with soil and to plant. One can't have everything, I guess. They do work very with the grow bags however and seem to be strong enough to support the plants.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

I love these. I had purchased some awhile back and gave two of them to my son when he needed something to support some plants that he had. They were perfect. So when I planted my tomatoes last year I tried the round ones that you buy at the nursery. They bent and the tomatoe branches came out at the wrong places - just didn't work well. So this year I needed new ones as I only had two and put those over the tomatoes but knew they would grow too tall for them. I saw some at the local[...]but they were too flimsy so I just came back to Gardners supply and ordered some. [...]and I got them stacked on the old ones before the tomatoes got that tall. They work so well as you can use just one if you have short plants but stack very well for taller plants. My neighbor liked the way they looked also. Thanks.

This is a great cage with only one flaw. The end points of the metal are very sharp. I have cut myself twice now. I'm a little nervous because once the plants are grown, I won't be able to see the sharp metal points. I fear cutting myself again when reaching in for tomatoes.

They are sturdy. They fold up nicely for storing in the winter. They don't bend out of shape like circular cages.

I have ordered this product at least 4 different times because they are the best cages I have ever found. They are easy to use and they fold up and store nicely at the end of the season. They also protect other plants that I have or are getting started. And it keeps the cats from using the area as their litter stations. Thank-you for a nice easy to use product.

This is the first time I have used something other than a pole to hold tomatoes up. The cages are firmly in the soil and holding the plants nicely. So much easier than the pole. I plan to use these cages for other plants, as well, and perhaps flowers. After they arrived and before needing them, I folded them flat and stored them easily and very much out of the way.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

Much sturdier than anything I've ever seen in local stores. I garden in a community garden where space is an issue, and these cage fold flat for easy storage. They also work well as trellises for peas and beans when used flat. The only drawback I've found is they rust and bend as the years go by, which makes them harder to open and close.

This is the second time I've placed an order for these. They hold up incredibly well and last year after year. I really like that you don't have to tie the tomato plants because the cage surrounds the plant and the holes are big enough to pick through. Excellent product and doesn't rust (at least not yet – 3 years and counting).

Comments about Tomato Cages:

We have used the tomato cages for the past two years. We just ordered another set. One of the best things about the tomato cages is that they are so sturdy and fold for storage. The heavy gauge steel does not warp with the weight of tomato branches, nor misshape when inserting into the ground for the first time. Set up is so easy, no instructions are needed! Cages allow plenty of room for the plant to grow. I can't live without them. Similar products we tried are not able to meet the standards of these hardy cages!

Tomato plants are just starting, but I can tell picking is going to be a breeze. I have put drip hose laced through the wires from a 4-way adapter to deep water 4 tomatoes at a time. It keeps the hose out of the dirt to keep it from clogging. I use one to display leashes and collars sold at dog training. It's great to fold up and transport. Storage for the winter will take little space!

Comments about Tomato Cages:

I received them just three days before the garden
needed to be covered for a freeze. Since the
tomato plants that needed staking were in the middle of the garden, the stakes held the covering
up off of the plants. It was also convenient to attach the covering to so that it would not blow off. They were so light, easy to handle and will
be so convenient to store when not in use. They
fold up easily.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

Cages are good supports for tomatoes and peppers. I have about 40 of them in my garden now. Disappointed that so many welds were broken on receipt of product, in a box of 4, 5 broken welds. Other welds failed in first season. Would have expected better quality control at the price paid.

These are the best tomato cages I've ever used. You can stack two together for indeterminate plants and use them for pepper plants, too. I bought a set about six years ago, and still use them. I have since bought two more for myself and more as gifts. My son asked for more for Christmas this year!

These tomato cages are great. Nice and sturdy, square so you don't need as much garden tape to hold up the plants, lots of places on all four sides to support the veggies and fruit as they grow. Best of all instead of all the space big old cumbersome tomato supports take, these hang in the potting shed flat against the wall for next year.

Took them back and immediately ordered 4 new ones from Gardener's Supply. Thanks ! xox

In spring I wrap fabric around the cage to protect the transplant from cool nights and wind. In fall I again wrap fabric around to protect the plants and fruit/vegetable from cold and/or frost.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

These tomato cages are great. I've been using them for years. My brother liked mine so well he had me order some for him. He's throwing out his small flimsy cages and replacing them with these cages.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

I was directed to this product and saw how it was working and loved it.. I not only ordered one set after I got the first set I had to order more and now own 5 sets and plan on getting more for the next season. I have found several uses for this cages.. not only tomatos but tall flowers as well. I will surely find more uses as the season goes on.
Thank you so much for such a great product.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

Cages are way better than cones to provide support to tomatoes. My cones tip over when the tomatoes become tall and heavy, but not the cages.

Comments about Tomato Cages:

I had one set of these from years ago that are still going strong. Then went to a garden center and bought some that were much lighter in weight and harder to store. I gave those away the next year and ordered more. You can not beat the wire weight of these and the ease of use and storage. And they will last for years.
