I thought these vegetable ladders were a bit pricey and perhaps a bit of overkill (quite heavy and sturdy); but after years of trying to grow peppers using other kinds of supports I finally tried the veggie ladders. They really work well, giving the plant just the right amount of support, and they nest into each other for winter storage. Glad I finally tried them. Now eyeing the tomato ladders!

These supports, as well as the tomato ladders are perfect. Good, heavy-weight wire construction. They go into the ground easily. The plants are supported well. They nest together for easy storage. I kick myself for using the flimsy wire cages for so long. My recommendation: Bite the bullet and spend the money for something that actually does the job well.

So far, I have not had to tie my plants to the ladders. Even with the many storms we have had in this area during Spring, all plants have remained within the ladder structure. This is certainly a plus! They should last for several years since they are so strong and treated to resist rusting.

Sturdy and attractive supports. Not cheap, but are easier to use and so much more sturdy than the flimsy cheaper ones I had before. I'm sure these will last a lot longer too. I am just sorry they sold out early of the 5-piece sets (I got the set of 3 but could probably have used 5)

I grow lots of varieties of Asian eggplants and these supports are very useful for supporting the plants whose branches can become heavily laden with the small fruits. This is my second purchase having found the first set so useful.

Thes are very heavy duty. I hope to have vegetable plants that are so productive that they need this much support! They look like they will prevent the plants from falling over by giving support to the center/core/stalk of the plant, but the plant may need to be able to support it's own periphery and fruits.

Kansas is hail prone and has severe thunderstorms with winds up to 40 miles per hour all summer long. As late as June we have had freak hail storms that last for a short time and strip leaves from large plants. These ladders allow all stemmed type vegetables: peppers, eggplant, bush peas and beans to survive a severe rainstorm or hail without the main stem breaking.

These look and work great. My only concern is that after only about a month, some of the edges are beginning to rust. (The paint must be very thin in spots). Other than that these are attractive and effective.

These are every bit as nice as they appear in the catalogs. Solid and sturdy, too! They can be used singly as individual supports, or paired together for anything that requires extra support. I used these vegetable ladder supports on some of my peppers and eggplants last year in my vegetable garden. It was completely maintenance-free, I just put them in place at planting time and that was it. The pepper and eggplant plants that had the protection of these supports survived wind storms better than the unprotected plants. I'm not sure if it was just because they were not losing branches to the occasional wind storm, but the plants I had supported grew bigger and produced more fruit than identical plants right next to them without supports. Additionally, the deer (which are a problem in my garden) would not step on these vegetable ladders, which meant not a single one was trampled this year! Then in the fall when it came time to put up wall-o-waters and row covers, having the supports in place made it very easy to implement these season-extending things without damaging the plants. I purchased more of these this year so that I can protect all of my peppers and eggplants from storms and hooves.

Not only do these ladders allow my eggplants and yellow squash to be supported so that the fruits are off the ground BUT they also give the birds a place to perch. This seems to really encourage my feathered friends to look over my plants for worms and bugs to eat, thereby helping me with pest control.

I know eventually I'll love both the vegetable and tomato ladders. They're so sturdy and easy to store. My problem is the '3rd side'. The open side is where my plants manage to evade the support of the ladder. I can't check them everyday, so first thing I know they're growing every which way and falling over. I've tried zig-zagging plastic plant support tape back and forth across the 3rd side opening. They still escaped. I tried making sure the 3rd side was away from the direction of the sun. They still escaped. Although I really don't want to do this, since it will be expensive, the only answer I can see is to use two ladders together facing each other. That way, nothing will escape!! If you have a better idea, please let me know. I would 'maybe' recommend these to a friend, once I figure out how best they will work!

By far the best support for peppers, eggplants, and, I use the larger supports, for tomatoes. Their strength is impressive - never teetering or falling over in strong winds. They are also very attractive (and maintain that look through years of use). I've used these for small hot peppers and large bell peppers. I won't use them again for the bell peppers, since I've had several peppers get pushed up against the firm supports in the small v of the ladder and get trapped, or split, or rot, etc. Might not be a problems with other large vegetables if they're on more flexible stems that you can easily reposition. But I love them for smaller pepper plants that still require some support.

I tried these for the first time this year, on peppers and eggplant. I made the mistake of procrastinating on the order and didn't get them until after the plants were two feet tall. Note to self: set the ladders in place before planting the seedlings. It can be difficult pushing the legs into stony ground ... the legs will bend if I put my whole 170 lbs to bear. Also, I had some fruits trapped in the rungs ... this can be avoided by training the plants to keep fruit in the clear.

Versatile product. Have used to support eggplant/pepper plants, as a protective "wall" for very small trees (so I wouldn't mow over them or step on them) and as a support for taller flowers such as delphinium or hollyhocks. The veggie ladders are basically the same product as the tomato ladders - but substantially shorter. I love my tomato ladders, but, I've found that the overall height of the vegetable ladders tends towards the 'too short' end of things. So, I've ordered more tomato ladders instead - better to have a little bit of unused trellis than a plant that is trailing across the ground because the ladder is too short! Quality wise, these are top notch and I expect them to last for years.

I have always attempted to stake my peppers but found it was not always successful. They often fell over and broke due to high winds. This is my first time in using these supports and it appears that they are going to do the job very nicely. I also used the silver mulch paper and have found that even though I was late starting the peppers and I thought that the peppers you sent were very small..they are now bearing fruit! This is great for my area - I am usually late in planting and now this year I have peppers to eat early. I was very pleased that you carried Gypsy as it is our favorite pepper. For some reason it is no longer available in our area. I think that I might use these supports in my flower garden as they look so good.

They work very well for a number of uses: eggplant, pepper plants, and flowers. I also use them beside the similar, taller tomato supports to catch that loose tomato branch at the bottom that crowds the taller support. The V shape makes it easy to push it in against taller support and hold a wayward stem with 6 large tomatoes. I have even tied a smaller support to a larger support.

These offer great support for small- to mid-sized vegetables. I've planted several bell pepper plants, which are happily "climbing" the ladders as I type this. I have used other supports in the past. I bought some of these three years ago and have looked foreward to using them every year. So far, absolutely no sign of wear. Sturdier than any support I've seen. Had to buy a few more this year due to more plants.

These ladders are easy to use. Just push them into the soil around the plant in question. Supports heavy fruit and helps prevent the fruit from causing damage to the branches from weighing them down. Very sturdy and come in green or red. Economical too!
