More than a beanpole, our maypole is a crowning centerpiece for your garden. Use it as a space-saving support for pole beans or for climbing flowers like morning glories. The handsome crown has 15 hooks and sits atop a 75" high pole. Simply string jute garden twine (included) between the hooks and ground pegs to create a cone-shaped support. Once the harvest is over, you can toss the plants, biodegradable twine and all, into the compost pile.

This was, no is horrible. I needed this do complete the design I planned all winter. Would of sent it back but>>> On a windy day the strings move the hooks and the string falls off. It's a pain when more than one string falls off. I can not believe that the company offers such a poorly designed item. I loved everything else that I have purchased. Don't Buy

I liked the product but it wasn't what I was looking for. However, I will be using it in another application.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
i'm very impressed so far. the maypole was easy to assemble, has remained sturdy in spite of several thunderstorms, and has passersby and neighbors paying compliments. of course, i refer them along to gardener's supply.

Sturdy and nice

I'm using this bean pole for beans in the vegetable garden. The beans aren't growing yet, but it looks nice without anything growing on it. I had a little trouble screwing the pole together. It should have been easy but one piece was stripped or something and my husband had to mess with it. Other than that, stringing the line was easy. And I think clean-up in the fall will be nice just by throwing the vines and string into the compost pile.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
Set it up in a large container on the deck for some flowering vines. Birds like to perch on it.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
Looks nice but needs to be sunk pretty deep into the soil to stand upright. But don't make the mistake of pounding the top of the stake! The metal is soft, and the threads will be damaged, so you can't twist the top on. After much trial-and-error, we finally hacked the squished top of the threads with a saw so we could twist the top onto the pole.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
I have a different style bean pole from Gardener's from a few years ago - aluminum tubing - that works great. Apparently they don't offer it anymore. This "Maypole" is a piece of over-priced junk from India - the threads are difficult to screw in and align, the welds are weak, the bottom stakes only go into the ground about 4" - well of course it needs extra staking! It looks silly next to my old-style bean pole.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
The three sections did not go together as described and had poor instructions. I had to buy material from a a hardware store and "jerry-rig" it.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
My first try with these and I like what I see so far! Had a nasty storm last night - Maypoles are still standing!
Comments about Garden Maypole:
Well...I thought this would be an interesting addition to my garden. I pulled out the pieces and decided to put it together. This is where problems started.
I got 4 pieces, not 3, and one piece had interesting welded on additions. The twine wasn't long enough. The directions mentioned hooks. There were none. All the "hooks" were really eyes. The top piece didn't fit well with the rest of the pole structure. My husband had to figure out a way to make it all work.
I was disappointed. I love to shop at Gardener's Supply! This was the worst and most disappoint purchase I have made from them.

Comments about Garden Maypole:
This trellis looks very nice when all put together. The past 2 days have been incredibly windy and I have found that the bottom hooks pull out of the ground. I have tried putting them in at an angle against the pole and that works where the ground has not been loosened. For the rest I put garden stakes over the hooks and they have not come out since. I love the fact it uses twine and is compostable.

Comments about Garden Maypole:
This maypole looks great and works great. It's much taller than many other options on the market and very reasonably priced. I ended up ordering three more after seeing how nice the first one was.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
I will be using this for Morning Glories once spring weather finally arrives & I can begin to plant.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
The hooks pull out of the soil easily and I had some problems during spring storms keeping it upright. I attached 4 of the strings to my raised beds using nails and that seems to have done the trick. It looks great and gives my garden a nice look!

Comments about Garden Maypole:
[...] I bought these before there were any reviews...silly me. I wont do that again! I would give this 0 stars if I could. First, the directions were not very clear. The bottom bracing bracts would never come together correctly so I finally just used the poles without them, making sure to put the post in really far into the ground, which worked better anyway, but still a frustrating endevor. The top part does not screw on correctly and it is crooked because of it. The poles were very difficult to get together tight enough without them bending and being flimsy at the joints. I've had the poles up less than a month and the twine has already started to rot and I've had to replace several strands, to where now I don't have any more twine. My favorite part is when the directions say "in areas of high wind more bracing support may be needed", but does not offer what that should be! I would send these back and ask for a refund, but that would mean me spending money on shipping and dealing with that hassle and these aren't even worth the trouble. These are totally useless and going into the trash. I'm very disappointed in this poor product and rethinking future purchases with this site entirely.

Comments about Garden Maypole:
Beautiful design, solid and sturdy. While it is true that the S-hooks are small and hence a little tricky to install, once they are on, they do stay put. Also true that the pole has a bit of sway to it, but I don't think a touch of flexibility is a bad thing -- especially since the 4 pronged base that holds the pole in the ground is quite rigid. This item withstood one heck of a windstorm last week, with no problem at all.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
Great idea! No more picking dead leaves out of trellis netting. With this Garden Maypole, you just cut the jute at the top and bottom and throw it all in your compost pile. I am very happy with this product.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
I like the way I can adjust it to save space in the garden. Growing beans and peas on the 2 maypoles I purchased this spring.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
Just set 2 of these up this weekend for my peas. Very easy to set up, and so attractive! We've had high winds and they are still standing strong!
I love them!
Comments about Garden Maypole:
This item was defective and I did not realize it until the weather warmed and I wanted to install it. The bottom legs would not fit because the threads did not go all the way through. If I had not unpacked it and stored it for use, I would have returned the item. As it was, I had to make do and use solder to fix the legs to the pole. Crossing my fingers that it holds together and does not ruin my crop.
Comments about Garden Maypole:
The ease of setup and disassembly is wonderful, and I especially love the European design flair it brings to our otherwise humble vegetable garden!
Comments about Garden Maypole:
Gardeners supply should discontinue this product.

Comments about Garden Maypole:
Purchased this to use to stake green beans in containers. This will not work for that purpose as the soil is too loose to be able to hold the stakes. Also, the pole is flimsy; it sways alot and the S-Hooks used at the top fall off easily and get lost when trying to assemble. It might work better if used in packed dirt with 2 people to tieing off the twine to the stakes at the same time to provide equal tension. Waste of money. [...] I'll probably be returning once I find a box big enough to do so.
