All kinds of gardeners are trying their hand at growing their own potatoes, and for very good reasons. Homegrown potatoes are delicious and there’s a variety for every purpose: roasting, frying or salad making.

Yukon Gold is a yellow-fleshed potato renowned for its outstanding flavor and texture. It’s very versatile — enjoy it baked, boiled, mashed or fried. Early season (70-90 days to maturity).

All-Blue is a delightful novelty with stunning, deep blue skin and flesh. Great flavor and and moist texture, for baking, boiling and colorful salads. Late season (110-135 days to maturity).

Russian Banana is an heirloom fingerling variety with yellow flesh and exquisite flavor. Late season (105-135 days to maturity).

Elba potatoes are a great beginners’ variety with outstanding resistance to disease and drought and firm, flavorful white flesh. Early season (70-90 days to maturity).

Cranberry Red, also known as All-Red, has red skin and pink-red flesh, and its fine, moist texture is ideally suited to boiling or sauteing. High yield and smooth texture. Early season (70-90 days to maturity).

Swedish Peanut is a teardrop-shaped, golden-fleshed heirloom fingerling potato that is perfect baked or roasted. Late (105-135 days to maturity).

Reddale is a striking red potato with fine, moist flesh and is delicious boiled, baked or au gratin. High resistance to verticilium wilt. Early (70-90 days to maturity).

Caribe (pronounced ka-REE-bay) has lustrous purple skin and snow-white flesh and is ideal for boiling, baking, or frying. Early season (70-90 days to maturity).

Rose Finn Apple Fingerling is a rare and beautiful rosy-colored fingerling potato with moderately dry yellow flesh. Late season (105-135 days to maturity).

Comments about Organic Seed Potatoes:

I bought these yukon gold seed potatoes thinking I would get the "13lb crop" when used in the potato grow bag. 13??? I'd say more like 1.3 lbs. I grew them in the bag exactly by the instructions on the grow bag and seed potato package and got really tall, beautiful foliage. After it flowered, I waited for the foliage to die back and then went in for the 'taters. We had ONE (albeit delicious) dinner for 2 with small potatoes on the side. The grow bag is great, as I used another for carrots and they grew perfectly! I'm just not so sure of these seed potatoes. Will try again next spring, though, to see if it was something I did.

Comments about Organic Seed Potatoes:

Healthy seed potatoes! These potatoes arrived in their own unique packaging with a label & instructions included. I contacted the manufacturer directly about
dividing and storage and they were very helpful! The only con that I have is that the price of the potatoes are a little high compared to the amount of potatoes in the bag. I only received 8 potatoes, but divided would give you 16. I guess that's what you pay for organic! I planted these in the "Potato Grow Bag" and so far they are growing fast. I can't wait for the harvest! Great product overall.

Bottom Line:

Comments about Organic Seed Potatoes:

Despite my complete disregard for the instructions concerning storage prior to planting, they are growing like crazy in the Potato Grow Bags with the All-organic Self-watering Container Mix. I am looking forward to a fine harvest for my first time at growing potatoes. My only regret is that there are too many for the number of containers I can devote to them. I would love to see a one or 1-1/2 pound bag for patio/container gardeners who don't have enough room for this many potatoes. I'll just have to compost the rest so they don't go to waste.

Comments about Organic Seed Potatoes:

I bought the box of potatoes, overpriced, but interesting varieties. The plant portion grew tall and hardy and when it was harvest time, I was so disappointed! I used the potato bags, which I liked, but the potato harvest was pathetic, what few potatoes there were, were tiny and sad. My total harvest filled a cereal bowl, which was the same as what was planted!!

Seed-wise, these are the best seed potatoes I've ever ordered. They arrived crisp and covered with eyes at the perfect stage for cutting and planting. Due to the wealth of eyes per potato, they could be used to plant much more than the recommended linear footage. Growing potatoes is a treat not to be missed in your own backyard whether you have a postage stamp plot or the luxury of acreage.

Comments about Organic Seed Potatoes:

I purchased this first in 2008. They were small and had numerous eyes. There was about twenty in the bag. Very easy to plant and a good yield. So in 2009 I ordered them again. What a disappointment. There was six large potatoes wihtout consistent eyes so I had trouble cutting them to plant. The yield will not be the same.

Comments about Organic Seed Potatoes:

I missed the Yukon Golds this year and have the All Blues planted in my 3x3 grow bed. I put them out a little late so they are just starting to do their thing. As with everything from Gardeners Supply, I will be pleased with the result. Just need to plant earlier next year.
