    Comments about Coil Hoses:

This is the 2nd one I've owned, the 1st lasted 10 years. Used outdoors for container watering , it is under constant water pressure all summer long with no leaks. It's well constructed and heavy duty, much better than the two that I got from a national home retailer... those lasted less than two weeks after which they sprang leaks. Very happy with the 50 foot model.

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

Use this hose on my outdoor deck - it does re-coil pretty much out of the way which I really like however, when I stretch it to go to the length of the deck sometimes it gets tangled up. It is a real pain to untangle. Other than that it serves it's purposes very well.

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

In my head I thought it would reach longer, but the hose attachment I have extends it the bit I need to reach the corners of the yard. I love not having to have a hose butler, the coil design contracts the hose up nicely after use.

    Replacement Parts

    Pros:
    Adjustable Settings, Comfortable Grip
    Best Uses:
    Outdoor Garden
    Describe Yourself:
    Avid Gardener
    Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

The hose is wonderful. The problem is that there is no way to get replacement parts. Right now the hose does not leak, the wand is fine but the trigger mechanism no longer works. All I need is that part which goes between the hose and the wand but no parts are available, no even the entire wand . Bad practice to sell items that can't be fixed by do it your self fixers.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

The product description did not mention this is a mini-coil hose. I had just gotten the 50' hose and expected it to be the same. It was not.I decided to keep it anyway since it coiled nicely and was lightweight. But after the first use (in the sun for a few hours) it no longer retracts to it's original length - not even close. I didn't have it stretched to maximum length - just about 10 or 12 feet. I'm probably going to send this hose back because it is not worth the [$] it costs since it won't retract. I suppose if you never stretched it out for awhile, this might not have happened. However, what good is a hose if you can't stretch it out for awhile?

    Didn't work for me
By CynthiaVerified Purchaser from Durham, CA on 7/12/2010
    Pros:

    Cons:
    Difficult To Use
    Best Uses:
    Watering the Lawn
    Describe Yourself:
    Avid Gardener

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

I bought this hose for a small vegetable garden in the hopes that it would be easier to use around all the raised planters. It is very strong and heavy, and was difficult to handle. It got constantly kinked up and I was always having to mess with it. As a replacement for the light duty and inexpensive hose I had before it was a bust. It is strong and hefty though, so It might work for other uses.

    Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

I love the fact that it coils up so darn easy, but gosh, can't they make it longer? It barely goes to 50', and I mean, that's if you really stretch it and it's all tense and wants to spring back at that point. If your garden is any distance further away than about 25', I'd consider buying a different hose.

By GinSingVerified Purchaser from TN on 6/2/2010
    Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

No matter what, I'd rather have a coiled hose than a regular one. I like that they are retractable and so much easier to handle. Regular hoses get tangled up in a way that compares to Christmas lights (!) whereas coiled hoses still do get tangled but it's more like paperclips.
That's about the best way I can word it. So, you still deal with tangles, but I'd rather seperate paper clips that deal with Christmas lights, so I opt for the coiled hoses since they have other attributes that a regular hose does not.
They are very space saving and I like that! I don't have room for any more clutter than I already have!

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

Replaced one purchased a year ago. Pin hole leaks developed over time - but we frequently stored the hose outside under pressure. Will try this season to be more careful about closing the faucet. If same result this time, we won't spend the money again. Hope it holds up, because it's a handy hose, especially with the watering wand we purchased at the same time.

I was very disappointed in this product. Everything else I have ever gotten from you was great. I just assumed I would love these and threw the packaging they came in away or I would of returned them. Couldn't even use them. The part that connects to the hose leaks terribly. I thought I paid alot for the 2 and can't even use them. Very disappointed. My husband looked at them and the area it leaks can't be fixed.

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

I use this hose for both indoor and outdoor plants. It works really well for indoor. I was expecting it to be longer so it doesn't reach all of my outdoor plants easily, at least not without knocking stuff down inside the house. It is very lightweight and doesn't kink. For some reason, I thought it would come with a nozzle but mine didn't. All in all, it makes a very nice second hose, but I wouldn't get rid of my regular garden hose just yet.

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

I was really pleased with the coil hose that I bought several years ago, so I bought two more this spring. The new ones seem to have been made of different, perhaps cheaper, materials, and don't coil or stretch as well as the first one I bought. However, they don't leak and do perform satisfactorily, so I would give them a qualified recommendation.

The 50' hose when extended past about 25' tends to pull one back and makes it difficult to handle. I don't think it should be advertised as a fifyt foot hose as a doubt if one could get it
to extend the full distance. I have difficulty in keeping it our about 30 feet. Also when extended that length it does not recoil neatly.

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

I was very pleasantly surprised to see how GS coil hose came with both ends of the hose re-enforced with heavy duty fittings and wire at the ends to keep it from kinking.

The hose is used in my front flower bed and I store it in a 4 inch PVC pipe my husband put in the ground for me. It even has a PVC cap with a handle.

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

The coil hose starts out nice and compactly coiled, but after even one stretching it only partially "rebounds" and requires a good deal of manual gathering to store compactly. It also kinks like a "slinky" or a coiled phone cord and requires untangling.
I suggest buying twice the apparently required length to avoid these irritating problems.

I have extremely large ferns on my front porch which stretches across the width of my house. I find it so easy to use on a daily basis without pulling out the garden hose. I wash down my porch and rockers daily and water the ferns daily. I also can spray the flower beds from the porch. My irrigation system doesn't do as good as this wonderful hose that I keep at the very end of my porch where it can't be seem, but handy to use. Love, love, love it!

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

I just had a hummingbird - butterfly garden planted in August. I was not able to use my old hose because it was so heavy. I have neck and back problems, and have lost some strength in my arms.I purchased the coil hose but had to buy a second hose because the distance is about 75 - 100 ft. It is very lightweight and comfortable for
me to use.My problem is that each hose is slow to recoil. It also intertwines, which takes time to "unravel". I need to find a way to store it so I do not always have to constantly unravel it to use it. I am really excited to use it next summer in my new garden. I definitely will be telling everyone about this hose, I think it will be great for older people and people with back and neck problems.

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

I've wanted one of these for a long time. I've run hoses to several locations in the garden and terminated them with quick connect fittings. I have equipped my coil hose with a watering wand and a quick connect fitting to mate up with the hoses.

The coil hose allows me to water all of my raised beds without dragging a hose through or accross the young plants, flowers and vegetables in the raised beds.

However, for this particular coil hose, there are two problems. First, the brass end fittings should have a larger inside diameter. These appear to be about 1/4 of an inch in diameter, and this substantially limits the water flow. The low flow substantially increses the amount of time it takes to water all the planting beds.

Second, the coil hose is equipped with a coiled spring wrapped around the hose at the female end as a strain relief. This spring needs to be more firmly affixed to the hose end, and there should be a such a strain relief at both end of the hose, rather than just at the ends.

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

I bought this hose thinking that it would be easier to maneuver around the yard than a conventional hose. Plus I liked the coiling from a storage perspective. I do like how much easier it is to store but the hose is too tightly wound that using it around the yard can be frustrating. In fact I find that it wants to spring back making it difficult to extend its full length without having to use some muscle power. :) While this hose doesn't kink, the coils do tend to get tangled meaning that you're adjusting it anyway. So, not the product I was hoping for but still useful.

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

This hose is wonderful. I live in a condo and storage is at a premium. I purchased another hose from a local store, all it did was leak and coil in on itself! Then I saw this hose, needless to say the other ended up in the trash can, what a waste of time AND money!

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

The hose can be awkward to coil back up but is great for watering my window boxes and container plants. It's lightweight so it doesn't drag over ground plants. Although the water pressure is less than a conventional hose, it's more than adequate for containers, boxes, and hanging plants.

    Best Uses:

    Describe Yourself:

    Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

I honestly don't know how this product made it out of quality assurance. When I extend it to its full length, half the time no water comes out because there is a kink somewhere.

If I put the hose down for a minute, it slides away from me.

But it never fully recoils. You still have to reel it in. And when you do, you have a big lump.

I would never recommend this product to anyone. I would emphatically recommend a conventional hose instead.

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

I didn't realize how much more difficult it would be to stretch it to reach some areas of my garden without potentially damaging some of my taller plants. It is less bulky to store than a regular hose but it doesn't recoil as I thought it should. It does look much better that a regular hose.

I loved this hose!!! However it sprung a leak after 1 week of use,Gardener's Supply was great to simply send me another one but that sprung a leak after about 3 months. I loved using it because you didn't have to "haul" on it, it never got all tangled up,and putting it back into the hose pot was so easy!! If it just wouldn't burst!!!

    Comments about Coil Hoses:

I've used the short version of this self-coiling hose and loved it, but the long version, which I bought, is less satisfactory. I use it for watering beds roughly twenty feet from the spigot and another bed that is a good sixty feet away, and around s corner to boot. I attach the coiling hose to a regular hose. The problem with the coiling hose is that it is always getting tangled in itself as I move it around the yard. Also it coils very loosely when I put it away. In retrospect, I should have gotten a lightweight hose for length and maybe the short self-coiling hose for easy watering.
The short coiling hose is WONDERFUL -- easy to use, is neat when stored. I love it.
