I gave it to my 2.5 yr. old grandson and family for Christmas. Unfortunately, I did not get to spend much time with it to compare it to the catalogue picture, but it did not seem as colorful as the picture.
The greatest thing about it: The absence of candy!
I have had other grandmothers ask about it and is it true you are discontinuing it as a catalogue item?

The animal pieces are too small for small children to play with or use, as they could be swallowed. It is an attractive advent calendar, although, wish it were made in the U.S. and the price were a little less expensive!

I took a chance and perchased two ( the second was on discount and a nephew will soon become a father) and held my breath for the evaluation of my daughter who is an artist and has " high standards" She was as pleased with the artistry and quality as I was; delighted that she will have an advent calender for her young sons for the rest of their growing up. Based on my two daughters struggles with " who get what of their childhood favorite things" maybe I should keep the second for that inevitable day.

Really enjoyed by my one year old granddaughter- with supervision! She enjoyed the animals and quickly figured out how to open and close the doors. Not sure how her parents will limit her to one a day for the Advent season.

Had intended it for a surprise starting 1 December but her parents couldn't wait and they had fun too.

The ark is great for my 4-year old. His room is decorated as Noah's ark and he loves animals. He is also into counting down the days until Christmas so this is perfect! It is well constructed, lots of detail, and very durable material.

We will be using this product with our grandson. It's very sturdy and will be fun. It takes little fingers to get the animals out but they are all really cute. It also gives a chance to tell the story of Noah.

I have searched high and low for an attractive advent calendar that will last through the years with my family. I really wanted this to become a tradition in our home at Christmas for my son. This one is not only beautiful but I love the fact that there is a story to tell and not candy or a gift behind each door. HOWEVER, the animals do not come out of the doors without a struggle. The idea is take one animal out each day and place on deck and by Christmas day all animals will be on deck with Noah but the animals fall all over because you need to really struggle to get them out. Even my two year old son kept asking me to help him. I am returning this and really hope they improve the ark as I would purchase it again. I purchased it even after reading all other complaints about struggling to get animals out.

this is quite adorable and my grandson will enjoy it for many years - enough to hand it down to further generations. others have commented on the small spaces for the animals - true in many cases, but I know my son can figure out a way to make retrieval a bit easier, so I don't see that as much of a downside.

This is such a cute item and I was so excited to order it, especially after reading all the good reviews. Upon receiving it, I was disappointed as I opened the animals. Several of them were not painted very well. The ark also has discoloring all over it, possibly from the glue. The first day we had it, my son, who is over 3, dropped one of the animals and the ear broke off. 2 days later, my older son was sitting at the table playing with the animals and dropped one and the beak broke off. They were not playing roughly with them at all. This will not last long enough to be an heirloom unless your children do not touch it at all and you do not drop any pieces. I was considering keeping it after the 1st animal broke because it is so cute, but after the 2nd animal broke, I don't think it's worth it. I'm really disppointed to have to return it.

This item is unique and my grandchildren will love coming to do the Christmas countdown with it - taking out the animals and lining them up on the ark. There is enough room to put in another surprise in each box if you choose. It is different from other Christmas countdown items and will be a real conversation piece.

I used it as a mantle centerpiece in my kitchen with baskets of greenery on each side and beeswax candles on each end. It was beautiful and my grandchildren loved it. It was not too delicate for them to enjoy. Thank you for a religious decoration I can be proud of for years to come.

We are enjoying our first grandson who is now 2 years and 2 months of age. We thought an advent calendar would be a great gift for him at this eraly age to start a family tradition. We can tell you that he really enjoyed helping set-up the Ark and that he spent countless amounts of time opening each little door and settimng-up tje little animals. We can see that in future Christmas he will always enjoy the anticipation of opening one door per day, althought this time we helped and actually opened all doors on the same day. The Ark is so sturdy and well constructed that we can see it lasting many many years. Please take a look at a couple of photos of our grandson 'exploring' the Ark!!

This is an item I purchased for my twin sons and their wives. It will now become a Christmas tradition and when they start their families, their children will, hopefully, continue the same tradition.

Unless the animals are misplaced or lost, this is an item that will be used for many generations to come.

I had looked for a unique advent calendar and this surely fits the bill. It's well made, sturdy and a delight to look at.

I own the Noah's Ark advent calender from 3 years ago (different design)and LOVE it! I bought this new design for my daughter and her family. I was SO disapointed by it. We placed all the animals in their compartments, but struggled with each one when we tried to get them out. They have to lay sideways and some of the animals are so bulky they wouldn't come out. I sent mine back. I didn't want to but it wasn't functional. I'm reading all these positive reviews and am wondering why the one we received gave us so much trouble. :(

I purchased this as an educational and fun gift for my grandchildren. One is old enough (almost 5). It is rated for over 3. The pieces are very small and the doves are fitted with sharp pins to attach to the roof. I may save it for a year or two.

This was gotten for us as a Christmas present, and our 5 year old loves it! At first he was angry that he couldn't open all the doors right away, but now he beelines for it every day after school. And I love the fact that it will last and help create more family traditions. Just look at the dimensions if ordering online - it is a good sized item (good for us, but I can see it being a surprise!)

I love this advent calendar - bought one for my sister's family and one for us. Adorable design, festive but also unique. Only drawback is that some animals are difficult to get out of their numbered door - you need small fingers to grab hold of them.

When our grandson comes over he loves to take out all the animals to see what they look like and then put them back in their little doors! Some of the pieces don't come out easily, even by an adult.

Just got the report from the parents of our adorable 1 yr. old triplet goddaughters, that the ark had arrived. They said it was a very nice handcrafted piece that was more in keeping with the season than most advent calendars. With 24 tiny doors, each little girl will get a turn opening eight each Christmas season (when they are older of course). The animals are placed on the deck of the ark after the door is opened. Overseen by a carved Noah!

Gave the Noah's Ark Advent Calendar to my Great Nephew & Niece. Their mother (a kindergarden teacher) will use as a teaching tool for the story of Noah and math tool to have them learn to add/substract days and animals as each one is removed from the ark. Very pleased with the construction.

This a such a lovely product, and I'm so glad I bought it. It is more substantial than I expected and the figurines are adorable.
