Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
In early spring the bugs ate up my kale under the fabric but ignored the ones under other frost protection (cold frame & garden bell).
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This was easy to install, and surprisingly has held up well in the dry West Texas wind and sun. My biggest problem is that I tend to think the plants under there are ok, and don't check them as often as the ones I can readily see.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
by using the pins it it no longer floats off my plants with the wind
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I used this cover to keep out the bugs who loved my beans last year. It has worked so far!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Drape over plant and clip to fence, supports with clothes pins/pegs.
Drape over fruit trees and bushes and peg into the ground with pegs or put stones on top to hold it down.
Cover strawberries and leave it alone until you see red.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I spread this material over my rows of tomatoes attached to tall stakes to give some cover from the bright sun. I works well but not quit durable enough for this use. Wind wears it out at attachment to stakes after a while.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I clamped this product with plastic, "c" type clamps to 1/2" PVC pipe that is bent to form a semicircle. As soon as the wind blew it tore at the clamp and holes are worn where the fabric blew against the raised bed frame. It will not last two seasons and may allow enterprising bugs to crawl through the holes.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Used it to start broccoli and have great looking plants. Also, have just planted tomatoes and have combined this cover in addition to black landscape fabric . Will have to wait to see if that is successful. Was easy to use and
so far has been wind resistant and has allowed rain to get to plants.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I am using it to protect my brussel sprouts from insects. It is working great so far - it lets sun and rain in, but keeps bugs away!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Used the Garden Fabric on my raised beds this spring. I wanted something to cover and protect small tender plants from our brutal spring winds (gusts up to 65 are normal). We wrapped the beds that have a "tent style" fence on each one with the fabric and it worked. It will tear if there is a sharp point that it comes in contact with. I will leave the fabric on to help with the bugs that are bound to show up.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Easy to use.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We have a lot of Japanese Beetles which destroy the leaves on several plants. I now cover them with this cloth for about a month until the beetles are gone. The plant survives and does not get eaten up.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Tomatoe plants appear to be growing just fine under the cloth. Plants are above the cages and free of stink bugs. The cloth has withstood 30+ mph winds that have blown continuously for the past 7 days with no tears in the fabric. Tomatoe plants appear to be getting enough sunlight as growth is normal.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
great for preventing insects and rabbits from destroying crops
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I'm using Earth Boxes this year and have covered my box of greens easily and, I believe, effectively. I don't want to use pesticides and this should keep out the insects I want to avoid. In the past I have used this product and have been very pleased.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I wish the lengths came in sizes for 4x4 raised beds for ease of use. Otherwise works great and is durable.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Considering how sheer and light it is, it's amazingly strong. We draped it over a PVC frame above a raised garden and attached to the sides with double stick velcro patches. Very easy to attach to other pieces with double-sided iron-on tape to make larger sections.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I used this product to cover VERY small tomato seedlings until they got bigger to withstand the harsh Texas sun. The cloth is lightweight so it doesn't harm the plants if it lays on top of them. I am also using it to cover delicate lettuce from the sun as well. I purchased it to have on hand in case of an April frost.

In addition to letting in light and moisture, this cloth is sturdy and can be removed and reused multiple times.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Will love all the time this product will save me this summer. I do not spray for pests so this barrier fabric is going to same me hours of hand picking bugs and eggs off my plants.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I just can't wait to use this product. The flea beatles and leaf miners attack every year on my zucchini and eggplant. I plan to drape this over them to keep those pests out!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I sewed into conical shapes to tent my square foot garden with ease.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Used primarily against squirrel damage to seedlings. Excellent for harsh wind and sun. Protects against frosts. Keep unwanted instects out. Very easy to use.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I just received this, along with my super hoops. The day after I planted my radishes, peas, beets, and onions the weather report was for heavy rain. Worried that my newly planted seeds might wash away in a deluge, I put this cloth over the hoops in the hopes that the cloth would dissipate the force of the rain. It worked like a charm! The cloth and hoops stood up to high winds and extremely heavy rain, and my seeds stayed in place. I only hope it is as effective later this season for keeping bugs off my veggies.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Used last year to keep raccoons from digging up my plants. Lasted one season before it wasn't really salvageable. Bought more and plan to use to thwart leafminer (hopefully).

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This summerweight fabric simply clothes-pinned over the fiberglass hoops is the ONLY system I've found that can both completely shut the grasshoppers out of my greens and stand up to our horrendous spring wind storms. While every other method of row covering I've tried either lets bugs in under the loose edges or blows away (usually both), this solution has been 100% effective. I couldn't be happier!

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We garden year-round here in San Diego, which means that we're sowing seeds when the wild birds are more hungry than usual. After sowing some cover crops, I noticed that the brown towhees were having a banquet on the seeds sown. Until I covered the seeds with this summerweight fabric, that is. It did the trick until the seeds turned into young plants, when I removed the fabric. Only to reapply it when we had a chance of frost. Given the strength of the fabric, I've been able to use it time and again. Which is why I've ordered a spare package. You never can tell when it will come in handy.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I had Japanese Beetles covering my Eggplant and after picking off all the beetles, I tossed the summerweight fabric over the eggplant. After a few weeks the beetles were gone and the eggplant were gorgeous.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
My first experience with row covers has been great! I bought both the summer weight and the quilt-weight, just to see if one worked better than the other. I was pleasantly surprised to find all of my lettuce plants safe and sound after the temps dropped to 27 degrees, even those under the summer weight. (I have the quilt-weight on the strawberries.) I'm a believer in row covers!

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I ordered this product too late to save my broccoli from cabbage worms, so I was ready to put it away until the next year. However, my sugar snap peas were taking a summer beating, so I drove a few 6' garden stakes in the ground about 1 1/2' from the sugar snap peas and hung lengths of fabric to the south & west of the plants. I cut slits through the fabric so the wind would not take the whole structure away! It was just enough shade to perk those plants up. I continued to harvest sugar snap peas through August.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I use it to cover home garden crops and protect from insects. It is very easy to use, can be draped, floated or secured easily. I wish there were a 100% sunlight transmittable version also.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Came in more handy than expected this summer. Was holding extra cloths for transition crops but when ran out of shade covers, threw some of these on and helped prolong the cukes and melons in record breaking continuous heat. But also, performed their intended purpose, helped against the beetles, bugs, etc.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I used this cloth to cover my strawberries & protect them from birds. However, I wish it were at least a foot wider, and it will tear easily. I find that Remay or frost cover cloth works almost as well, but the lightweight cloth does let more water through to the plants.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
It is keeping the rabbits off my green beans and beets. Thanks you!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
The bed cover is working well in two application. I have purchased a prize hydrangea that was being eating alive by insects boring into the leaves. I built a wood frame cage and stapled your ground cover to it. It keeps the flying insects out and has easily lived through torrential rains and wind gusts to 30 knts!! I used another section of the cover to protect my small veg gardens. It is also working well. I am enthused john s
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I really liked the concept of this. I needed something to keep the beattles off my basil. We had a couple of bad storms and it really didn't hold up well. Suprised because most things from GS are awesome!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I used it to cover my blueberry bushes to keep birds and small animals from eating my berries. It worked great was the perfect size and let enough sunlight in. I would reccomend it and probably will buy again.A bigger (wider and longer size would be nice)

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Used the netting to cover blackberry bushes. Last season, the beetles covered the bushes. This year we applied the garden netting and the berries are growing great. Our bushes are high so we stapled two sheets of netting together to completely cover the blackberry bushes.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Perfect for my gardening needs!

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I was behind getting my raised beds put together, filled and planted--and also on my ordering of the summerweight row cover. If I had ordered and applied it earlier, I know I would have had better initial results; as it was, I saw cabbage moths fluttering around before I got the row cover ordered, so they got a head start. Little caterpillars (cabbage loopers?) and some other little gooey green insect critter I have yet to identify (shaped sort of like a trapezoid?!) got in and had a good time munching on my cabbage and broccoli plants. Once I picked them off and rinsed off the eggs and, uh, other stuff a time or two, the cabbage heads started to form and there are far fewer of them since I did that and applied the cover. No fault of the cover that I didn't get it on early enough.
I know it does a great job keeping out moths and birds, but I'm not sure, even with staples, if it would keep out a really determined digger of any kind like a chipmunk or squirrel burying seeds, for example. I'll do better next year getting the row cover on earlier.
Oh, I need to mention, too, I put row cover on some Swiss chard, and some was planted at the same time in a different bed, but NOT under row cover. The covered chard is doing better than that which is uncovered. I think it likes not being scorched by the heat wave we've been having this year!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Keeps the pests out and is lightweight enough that it still allows some sunlight in and is great to apply for overnight use in the early spring to late fall to keep in the heat.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I have found the only defense again grasshoppers (which we have in abundance this year) is Garden Fabric (or row cover). These pests will strip plants to their stems if given free rein to do their damage. I love this product and so do my plants.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Have problems with rodents and bugs eating my new sproats... This product is able to keep them OUT
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I grow veggies on my deck, which is 15 feet off the ground. The wind was damaging my zucchini plants, but this product protected the plants without filtering out the light and rain.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I covered my blueberry bushes with this fabric to keep the birds away. It was large enough where I wrapped it around the bush and secured it with twist-ties. There was enough to cover my three medium/small-size bushes. It doesn't get tangled in the foliage or around the berries. It even keeps the Japanese beetles away!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We needed something to protect my grape vines from Japanese beetles. It did the job on the beetles but the earwigs this year have been a new issue. We have had a very wet spring and so the earwig population has exploded. That set up our issue in which the earwigs found a home in the fabric. So we had to take it down temporarily until the earwigs subside. That is the only negative for the fabric.
I will re-apply the fabric as soon as the dry weather returns which should keep the earwig population at bay. Otherwise it is a great product.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I put the lightweight cover over my zucchini plants the minute they emerge from the ground. Uncover just as they are starting to bloom and wrap pantyhose around the base of each plant. I have had zucchini's up till frost and always lost my plants right at harvest time before I discovered this product from Gardner's Supply. Reuseable too!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
kept cucumber beetles off until plants matured.
also kept rabbits from chewing sweet potatoes
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Lightweight enough not to trap too much heat while it keeps bugs out long enough for plants to get established. It can be a little tedious to remove it to weed, but worth the effort not to have to pick off cuc beetles and squash bugs.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I love this stuff. It is great to cover newly planted grass seed to keep my dogs off the seed until it sprouts. Also, keeps the dogs from getting muddy if they do walk on it.
I also use it every year in my vegetable garden after my plants develop flowers and are pollinated to keep the Japanese Beetles and cucumber beetles off the plants. Its the only thing that saves them some years.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I love this!! I have the all-purpose one which I is very useful but this lets in a lot of light, rain and it doesn't hold the heat. I would definitely recommend this. No deer or turkeys have invaded my garden so far. I'm using it on the strawberries and veggie garden. I have even cut some to cover the blueberries so the deer won't eat them. Their new bushes only 2 years old and have some berries on them. Thanks for great product.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
inexpensive. Takes up little space to store. Good to use w. grow bed and hoops Extends growing season both before and after summer. Keeps beetles and loopers out.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Installed it over our new vegetable hooped raised bed to give some relief from the 100 degree temps we were having that week. It worked well to filter some of the sun and not trap too much heat. Will also use it to keep bugs off the veggies as the get established.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I did not know what to do something was eating all my watermelon and canalope. I covered the plants with the fabric and today they are healthy, strong and happy plant. I'm excited about finding the fabric because it works.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This fabric was so easy to use. Lightweight and effective at keeping the insects off of my lettuce crops. This is the first year I am using this product but I am looking forward to being able to reusing it for several more seasons.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I love this cloth- it does keep out those nasty bugs that love to eat my vegetables.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
My vegetables look almost perfect because the bugs can't get under the row cover. It is too bad I have to remove these when flowers on beans and squash appear so these can be pollinated.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Yes, this row cover will protect plants from damaging insects and provides additional warmth for early spring plantings of warm weather crops. i.e. protects squash plants from damaging insects but also provides plants with additional warmth for faster growth --yes, we will be harvesting summer squash by June 16th in Madison WI.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Lightweight fabric perfect for protecting from bugs/worms and sunburn.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Ideal size and weight for my gardening needs
Be careful handling the fabric as it is light and may tear easily!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I built a structure and draped the garden fabric over it to prevent insects and bugs from getting to my tomato plants and to shield the Texas hot sun. I sewed the fabric to fit the structure which turned out very well. The garden fabric is just what I needed for my garden.

I use it when placing houseplants outdoors in the spring to protect them from excessive sunshine/sunburn.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We have used your row covers for 30+ years, keeping cabbage butterflies off the broccoli and other cabbage crops, cucumber beetles off cucumbers, etc. In our huge garden in upstate NY.
This year our 5yr old granddaughter and I planted her first garden in her new home in Texas. When I called to check on how it was doing she said we had a problem...bugs. I quickly got on line and had a row cover sent. Happiness prevails - the cover is keeping the bugs off.
Safe and easy for a 5 year old (with dad's help) to "apply". Good lesson in organic management of pests! (AND, its reusable next year!)

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We have had trouble for years with the crows plucking my peaches off. I wrap this lightweight fabric around the branch and pin to itself with clothespins and Ta Da! No damage to the tree either. I wish I had thought of this years ago!!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Haven't had it very long, so I dont know how well it will hold up, but it seems to be tough and very light.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I used this product to protect my strawberry bed from marauding birds. It worked great. I am also using it on my squash plants to (hopefully) avoid vine borers that plague my plants every year.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I am using this product to keep my potato plants covered, in hopes of keeping the beetles off of them. So far, so good. Easy to use for row covers, but I'm using the potato bags so the dimensions are a little narrow to get full coverage of the bag so I can anchor the cover in the ground. It took a little creativity, but they seem to be covered well and so far no critters....
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
In Seattle, Called 'crow city' due to their vast numbers, crows will peck through the summerweight fabric to pull out (only) the bean sprouts. As they do not seem to eat them nor carry them away, the motivation for this behavior is unknown.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I tried to locate some of this fabric locally with no luck. Itʻs not that I waited too long to look around here, either. I order a lot of items from Gardenerʻs that way. The fabric seems to be of good quality and Iʻm sure it will do the job.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
A fine product which will get more use as my garden moves from spring to summer. Pros - very useful for eggplant, broccoli, and cabbage, protecting them from insects. Cons - I am using raised bed gardening technique, so an individual 1'x1' tall plant cover would be more useful than long fabric aimed at row planting. I will attempt to fabricate one myself. My rating will likely improve as I gain more experience with this summer weight garden fabric.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I am trying row cover this year to keep out the squash vine borers and tomato hornworms. At first, I was afraid the fabric was too thin and would tear easily, but I've been surprised at how strong it is. I also wanted to be cautious about heat building up under the cover, but the times I've checked it's actually been cooler under the cover than outside it. The plants do seem to do better if the row cover is on some sort of frame, to hold it up off of the plant's leaves.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This is an easy way to "go green".

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Great for covering plants to keep pests out. Sun, rain all still get to the plants.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Great product for keeping out insects, especially flea beetles that love brassica crops. Has a greenhouse effect, boosting rate of growth.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This fabric is great stuff. Not only does it help with insects, it also give's your plants a little protection from the elements.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
i use cover to protect my cabbages so that i don't have to use chemicals to control loopers, so far i have the most beautiful plants
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
i covered my cabbage and kale etc it kept the bugs out
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This product is great. We have so many bugs in South Texas that I need help. It's lightweight and durable.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I used this product for the first time this year and so far so good. Since cool spring nights and the occasional frost are still with us in WI, this row cover has helped protect my seedlings and seems to keep the weeds down too.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I'm using this for shielding freshly planted seedlings on my roof top. Conditions up there are harsh, so it's hard to say how much the fabric is helping. It's holding up well so far.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I already have my tomato cages wrapped in the summer weight garden fabric. Will set them out tomorrow, 5/2/10. Great product.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This has been great protection for my newly-planted veggies. Hopefully will keep out flea beetles when it's time for eggplant. Easy to use. I do have a little hole in the middle of one of my sheets - doesn't matter for what I'm using it for now.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We have severe deer depredation; even electrified fencing doesn't keep out small deer that manage to slip inside, where they readily destroy an entire crop. I've found that by covering my vegetables with summer-weight garden fabric, the vegetables are not only protected from insects but also from the deer. I have used this fabric for years. It will last at least two seasons, and even longer if it's not torn.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This is great for deterring bugs on my potatoes and cutting down on the harsh summer sun. If stretched too lightly, I rips.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I am a big organic gardener and have only ventured into vegetables in the last few years. I usually join a CSA because I get frustrated and don't have as much success as I want. Not this year! I was inspired by your email with the row covers, and I hope to have more success. I got very frustrated with the caterpillers on the kale. This should solve the problem. My hubby made hoops for me from PVC pipe, so it is high, but easy to access. I had to sew the cover together (very easy) to accomodate my garden. It is high quality so I will see how effective it is and will look to extend the season with the thicker cover! (per another inspiring email/newsletter you sent me!)
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
works great!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I bought this to keep squash vine borers away from my zucchini. The fabric tore easily which is of some concern but once I had it place, the plants beneath grew quickly and stayed free of bugs.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
My husband scoffed at me when I told him I was purchasing this cloth for our veggie garden because he thought it was a waste of money. After the first season of using it, guess who nagged me nonstop about buying it for the second season ... my husband. :)
Outside of the obvious benefit of deterring insects, our plants just seem to grow better under the cloth. They grow fuller, produce longer, and are overall protected from the elements.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I love this stuff! I would recommend to anyone and the price is the best I found on the internet. I wrapped my young tomatoe plants up with this and left it on a month and when I pulled off my plants were huge!! About 2 weeks later I had starting tomatoes coming up way before anyone else that had the same plants!! My little tomatoe plant secret to you. I will be experimenting on many other plants with this material. So I will report back
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I used it to cover my cabbages and not a single

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I use the summer weight fabric to cover my strawberry bed. I have appr. 150 plants. I am able to protecting them from the birds while not using any sprays that might damage the fruit. Works well also for fruit trees. I simply attach a few sheets together with clothes pins.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
lPlaced seed boxes in equivalent of milk crate and wrappred in material leaving front open. Should be able to germinate seeds early.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Product is very effective in keeping rose beetles at bay, but for larger plants, it is a bit of a pain to make a frame to support it.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I am using it to keep bugs off the cabbage, broccli, and califlower plants without using pesticides.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
does it come transparent?
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Keeps my garden free from bugs and dust. Kept the cold from killing my garden. Gave me a head start on the plains in the garden, I was able to plaint a few weeks early. Great garden tool.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
My broccoli and lettuce was a magnet for the white butterflies that laid caterpillar eggs on the plants. I am hopeful that I will be able to harvest much more produce.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
The product acts as advertised: a novelty. Rain does penetrate and slight frosts make haevier cloches unnecessary for short periods. Wind is a challenge, with ground stakes pulled up easily. Boards on the side work well in addition to the stakes. In the mountains perhaps our winds are a bit more rambunctious than in the valley! Since it is a bit early yet for the moths that have plaqued mt brocooli and other cold crops, i hope the product works as well on them as it has on other advertised features.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
'Floating row cover', as I know it, is a very versatile addition to my garden. I use it to protect [from my dogs] while incubating newly seeded lawn. I use it to protect seedlings from sun and rain, and to extend the lettuce season in my cold frame. If I remember, I grow my kale and collards under this fabric - it keeps out those pesky cabbage moths!!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Easy to apply and work with. I roll the ends back on sunny days during the winter months and then roll it back at night to protect against cold.
My tomato and skinny eggplants are growing very well under it. I'll be removing it in April.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Easy to use and I roll part of it back to get more sunlight in the winter months. Probably won't need it in the summer but works great for winter and cool nights.
I did have a freeze down to it's limit and all plants next to the fabric survived. The plants in the middle near the opening did not.

Wonderful product to help deter insects and squirrels from new plantings. Easy to install with Earth Staples.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
i bought this product last year. i always seem to battle the insects that love my garden almost as much as me. i shared some of the fabric with my first time gardener friend, she loved it. it saved us both heart-ache,when you spend so much time gardening only to lost your harvest to insects is heart breaking. this produced saved that. thanks
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I have used this garden fabric for years to cover my blueberry bushes. I clip two sections together at the top end with clothespins and am able to get at the ripening berries easily. It keeps the birds away very effectively and I've never had any trouble with it. I just love it and have purchased more for bug control in my vegetable bed.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This product seems more fragile than the regular Garden Fabric. The wind and the neighborhood cats had it in shreds within 2 days. If you live somewhere windy, get a heavier fabric. I can't tell you what to do about the neighborhood cats.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This product was so useful to keep out the harsh sun rays and also to keep the bug population down.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I used summerweight garden fabric to protect young plants from insects and to reduce heat stress caused by direct sun. The fabric allows just the right amount of light to pass through, and it does not trap enough heat to cause withering and heat stress. Rain passes right through, so you don't have to hand-water the plants as much.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I use this for grasshopper control. It is light weight, but durable. I do have to figure out how to stake it down because we do have lots of wind.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We used the fabric for covering blueberries which ripened as well or better under the fabric.
The main drawback was that while the fabric was long enough (20') it was far from wide enough (6') even with two lengths clothes-pinned together. A real problem as birds and beasties could easily get under it and DID. Please ask the manufacturer to provide wider widths.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I looked all over for a summer row cloth that would reduce the summer heat and allow me to extend the life of my spring lettuce and spinach and the only place I could find it was at Gardener's Supply. I probably got another month of lettuce out of my plants because of this row cloth. I'm now using it for bug control (beetles and vineborers on summer squash plants and Kale). And when fall comes I'll use it to extend the life of producing plants. [...]. I bought the 25 ft roll which gave me options - [...]. This is a basic product that I'm using many ways and I'm glad I bought it. My garden is better for it.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
For several years after creating a new garden I had wondered why my beet and spinach seedlings disappeared soon after emerging. I thought it could be the seed was old, or my ph was off. Soon after seeing a rabbit in my unfenced garden, I decided to cover my seed with the light weight insect barrier. I had used it to prevent flea beetles from creating lace out of my eggplant leaves and to keep cabbage moths off my broccoli, but I never thought I would I use it to keep the rabbits out of my beets and spinach. It worked! I have luscious huge beets, and finally am picking spinach.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
we use this in the evening cover up our potential vegetables...so far it is working wonders....last year we lost our buds to the squirrels but this year not so. :)
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Great for deterring rabbits without harming them or the environment. Keeps crops well shaded from heat of summer

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This was the only thing that allowed my cucumbers to have a chance. The first seedlings I put out were devoured by slugs or fried in the hot Alabama sun, even in early May. I put this over my next transplants until flowering, and they took off almost overnight. By the time I had to remove it (to allow the bees to pollenate), they were strong and hardy. I like that it does not block too much light or rain.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I used this to get struggling plants through the 100+ degree heat we've been having. My plants immediately started doing better after the first day the cover was over them. I also used this to cover my fig tree (I clipped several rows of cover together like a big blanket). This is the first year that I have gotten the figs before the birds and opossums! I've taken it off now that the big harvest is over, to let the critters have the last couple of weeks' worth of fruit. Nothing like seeing a fig tree full of orioles!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I use the material to shade some of my hanging flowers baskets that dislike full sun all day. It also inhibits some types of insects from infesting the baskets.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Here in Michigan we have a problem with Colorado potato beetles on our potatoes and Japanese beetles on our eggplant. I'm an organic Master Gardener, looking for ways to control the damage done by these pests without using pesticides. Potatoes and eggplants are self-pollinating so we reasoned that we can cover these plants for the entire season because the fabric allows 85% of the sunlight to enter. We will remove the fabric at harvest time. My husband fashioned half hoop supports from wire fencing and we laid this lightweight fabric over them, and secured the edges with rocks. It's too early to tell if we will be successful controlling the beetles, but we are pleasantly surprised to see the improved growth on the covered vegetable plants. It's an experiment for us, but I think it will be successful.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We have three blueberry bushes and, although, I love birds, deer & even squirrels, we'd like a few blueberries for ourselves! I use tall stakes (I use clothes pins to add fabric around the sides.) and add the fabric and end up with blueberries for our pancakes!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I use tomato cages to hold the cover up, and I staked it down at intervals along the row. Watering is made difficult because you have to take the cover off and then re-seal the edges so bugs don't get in. It does a great job at keeping bugs out, and my cucumber is growing without any signs of being eaten, unlike my plants (tomatoes, peppers, herbs) that are not protected by the cover.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
First time trying the summerweight fabric. Our potato plants are beautiful - No potato beetles!!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Covering carrots at seeding time keeps them maggot free.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I cover seedlings and young plants like beans and greens. Before your covers, my garden was a rabbit lunchroom. Now rabbit favorites are hard to get to and also protected from beetles. Cutting the cloth is difficult and size of the whole is unwieldy.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
A simple and inexpensive solution to my deer problem. Just cover to protect during those hours that the deer come to my garden to check out the local produce and uncover during my gardening hours.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
First season using this fabric. It's great! It's June and my plants are twice the size of last year already. Really helps protect my transplants from the intense sunshine. I'll keep it on all season long. Broccoli, cabbage, swiss chard, tomatoes, peppers, etc. all flourishing. I am really looking forward to our homegrown harvest this year!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This garden fabric really comes in handy. I'm in a community garden so I'm more likely to have to deal with other peoples garden pests as well as my own. And there's also a generous amount of fabric for the price.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Allowed me to prevent insect damage and protected my veggies from a late light frost we had. But permits enough light to pass through. I will lift it off to allow for pollination and will reapply making a tent effect because Also gives me some protection from the rabbits.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I made a 'cage/cover' for my lettuce bed with chicken wire bands for support and covered it with the lightweight fabric. The fabric is clipped with common binder clips. Light and rain go through. The test will be how long the fabric will last (one month, so far so good.) Squirrels have moved on and my lettuce is safe!!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
cover for a raised bed garden outside santa fe nm. good protection form drying winds, small hail, bugs, etc.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Relatively easy to use, seems to be doing some of the hard work for me-namely keeping off some pesky insects which saves me time and money.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I have used on my Early Girl tomato plants. I hopw I do not get curly top. How long of the growing season does it need to stay on?

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Product is easy to apply and effective at protecting my lettuce from too much sun, Rabbits and other pests.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Fairly light weight so you have to be careful putting it down...but a perfect weight for summer
I use it directly on ground. Not sure it would hold up long on supports

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Bought two packages and one provided more than enough fabric. Have had to get creative to secure it -- sticks, bricks, twist ties! Used it to protect cool weather crops from early intense sun, cover over strawberries and blueberries. Woth grow boxes I slightly lift the corner pegs and use one twist tie each to affix fabric. Draped it over vine supports or single, central bamboo stick when more height needed. Used it to keep squirrels and rabbits out of potatoes and lettuce and cats from using grow boxes as litter boxes.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Used it last night. Cut a piece to cover the 7x4' raised bed that had the cucumber seedings as there was a possible frost. Easy to cut and lay over the bed and just as easy to fold up in the morning for another time. Will def be trying it over the arugula to try to keep those flea bugs from chewing holes in otherwise perfectly beautiful arugula.
Great stuff!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I have 4x4 raised garden beds, and this product works well to keep the rabbits away. I cut to fit each bed I need to cover.

I used this product in my garden to keep out bugs, birds and animals. The first day I used it, the racoons tore it to shreds. In this condition, I'm not sure that it could keep out the bugs and birds...

Another great product!

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
use to cover peonies or other ornamentals requiring less sun during hotest months. plants stay green instead of turning brown and dying. use wire around plants, secure wire or grow thru hoops with earth staples and cover with this fabric using clothes pins to secure fabric against wind. will last many seasons.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We use this over our newly planted corn, beans and peas to keep the birds from eating the seeds. A wire hoop made from fencing material serves as a frame for the fabric. It also helps the seeds to germinate faster as we have very cool nights and this furnishes just enough protection.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I start all of my cool-weather veggies under a cover of lightweight fabric. It keeps them warm on chilly nights, keeps the birds from digging up the seeds and kept on for a while, they greatly reduce insect pests. They can be laid directly over the rows. Most plants are strong enough to hold the fabric up. For taller plants, I lay the fabric over garden hoops or frames. Rain comes right through, but plants are shielded from wind and pests and get a solid start to healthy lives. I can't imagine gardening without this stuff. I love it!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
works great
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I placed my vegetables in planters on the patio. We made wire frames and individual covers for each planter with the row cover to keep the flying insects out. It is working well.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I have had no need to use chemicals to repel insects on my broccoli, cauliflower and potato plants. It is so easy and I could never find a more inexpensive way to control garden pests! Plus, it has given my plants that extra protection for late freezes. Love it!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We finally get to eat our crops and the deer don't

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
this product is amazing--it is light and easy to handle--it keeps the bugs and insects out as well as the armadillo--it is withstanding the south texas winds of up to 30-40mph which is normal down here--thanks
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I've used this product for many years to keep out pests during the summer and am hoping it will deter the deer who have found great joy in sampling my veggies!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
So easy to use and if you take care, it can be used over and over again.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I am growing vegetables organically in large and small containers on my patio this year and needed something to use to keep the bugs off young crops as long as possible. With stick props and clothes pins, I can keep the row cover on the pots, so far. We in North Texas recently experienced a week of cold, high winds, and heavy rain. Did not bother the row cover a bit.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This is a reasonably priced floating row cover; I was unable to find one locally. I plan to use this to screen my pea seedlings from groundhogs and rabbits.

I am an Extension Horticulturist in south Texas on the Mexico border - where bugs never rest, much less die. We have to use row cover to have a harvest of tomatoes in the spring.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I used this product to cover my lettuce during our rainy spring to keep my greens from getting too muddy. Also used these to "hide" tomatoes from squirrels and chipmonks. It was very effective!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I purchased this item because I didn't want the neighborhood cats to think my new square foot gardens were to be used for their litter boxes! It definitely deterred the felines and haven't had a digging rodent or animal since I installed the garden fabric! Great product!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I am using this fabric to shade two new shrubs that are in full sun. Even though I planted them last fall, this dry hot summer with lots of wind has nearly killed the shrubs. I made a wire cage and then draped the cloth over the top of the cage and around the sides. This blocks the hot west sun and protects the shrubs from the drying wind.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Last year my pole bean beans that I grow is self watering contianers were eaten completely by Japanese beetles. This year I put the box in a 72 in frame composed of a wire shelving unit from [...]. I put the summer fabric around it and secured with fabric clips. I leave open some days for pollination. Have not had any beetles yet.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Well made product - can use again the next year.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I have used the heavier fabric in the garden and flower beds in the past for frost protection. I wanted to give this a try to protect my young cukes and zukes from critters and pests and still let the water and sunlight in. I like this equally as much as the heavier fabric, and I'll use that early and late season, and this in the hotter months. I have found garden fabric great to have on hand.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I've used this fabric successfully in many ways: to protect plants from frost, to shade cool-season vegetables, to discourage insects, to repel rabbits...I even made a tent out of it so I could easily provide shade for seedlings I was hardening off. I was at a performance in a local concert hall recently and saw this fabric draped from the ceiling in big swaths, creating a beautiful decoration!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I also use this row cover over my seedling "nursery" until plants are big enough to go into the garden. My babies are protected from heavy rain, hottest sun, and bugs. Perfect.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Came in very handy when we started our lettuce from seed this past spring
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I used these over my newly transplanted seedlings to discourage all the critters I have in my yard. A sudden rainstorm the day after transplanting was beating the small plants into the ground, so I used a few stakes under the row cover in a tent-like fashion and it protected the weak unestablished plants. An added bonus.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Excellent product- Have had problems in the past with Squash vine borer in New England and don't like pesticides. Used 5/8 inch PVC from Home Depot to make small tents. PVC is only a couple bucks for 10 foot lengths and the elbow fittings are .50 cents each. They stay together w/o glue. Once plants get tall enough and start to flower heavy, just remove tents.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I use this to keep the bunnies from eating my tender young veggies. It also works well to keep the whitefly and other insects off my plants.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Use to control unwanted flying bugs
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This is the best to protect your early crips from leaf miners and other insects for spinach, lettuce, etc.
Can be reused and also cut to fit.
Billow when placing so it "grows" with the plants.

Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I purchased this product to keep beetles off of my bean plants. It does work well for that purpose, but it is difficult to install and after that, difficult to get under to remove any harmful insects that do manage to get in, apply fertilizers, or remove weeds. I have also noticed the plants under these covers are not thriving quite as well as the other bean plants (of the same variety) not under the row covers (I suspect due to lack of light). That said, they are doing fine and I do expect a harvest from them. I think it's definitely superior to applying pesticides, but if you have time for hand picking the harmful insects, that would be even better. I unfortunately do not have time for that so this is a pretty good solution for me.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
This light weight fabric was exactly what I needed in my urban garden to get all my plants started without the squirrels digging up the seeds. It is light enough that you can let the peas, beans, beets, and greens grow several inches and then remove it once they are less attractive to the squirrels. A word of caution- do not use it on a container as it seems to create a green slime and tropical environment and rot the seeds - perhaps not quite enough air circulation in a pot.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I love this product. I have been using it for years. I place it over my cucumbers and squash plants in the spring to give them a chance to grow and keep the squash and cucumber beetles off of the plants. I find that doing this gives the plants a chance to grow without dying before I can get any vegetables from the plants.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We used the cover to keep the rabbits and Quail from eating our sprouting carrots and lettuce crops, it worked great, just wish I'd gotten it sooner. We will use it for a Fall crop of spinach and lettuce and hope that it will help stave off the first frosts of the season.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
I purchased this row cover with one intent in mind and have been able to use it for a multitude of others. I was attempting to thwart the multitude of marauding birds who were enjoying my fall salad greens much more than I was. I have since been able to afford a few degrees of frost protection, eliminate the need to apply pesticides and grow organically, and provide some much needed relief to the summer garden in the form of light shade to protect plants and fruit from sunscald. I'm very pleased!
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
We live in the mountains and all the cabbage family grow well here.. but those cabbage moths are so destructive.. I dont have time to run around picking eggs off every leaf so I have tried this product and am extremely pleased. I grow cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower under this all season..lifting only several times to weed and cultivate. The difference between these plants and ones planted outside at the same time without the cover is unbelievable..size increased, days to maturity decreased and NO CABBAGE MOTH DAMAGE!!..this lightweight material is excellent and well worth the money.. washable and re-usable.
Comments about Summerweight Garden Fabric:
Our tomato and pepper plants were shivering when the weather turned to cold the end of May. The plant blankets helped to keep their roots warm, and they are healthy and growing. Being in the mountains, our season for growing is short. Our Summer greenhouse looks better than ever.
