Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

I set up the garden fence kit in about 15 minutes. It was very easy and now I have my garden enclosed so that animals are not digging through the soil and plants. I like that every year we just take it down and put it up for the upcoming season. It is not really attractive but that is something that I am willing to live with.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

I waited to attempt putting this fencing up around my vegetable garden but I have a new puppy and had to keep him out. The fencing was so incredibly easy to put up and to get it to fit the odd shaped perimiter of my garden and it has kept my older dog and the puppy out. Hopefully it will keep out rabbits this summer.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

I love this fencing. I bought 1 kit a few years ago when we moved into the city. Though we had a fenced in yard, the neighborhood cats wanted to use my vegetable garden as a potty ... this fence kept them out! If you pull the black strings at the bottom of the fencing tight, and keep it ground level, they can't work their way under! The kit I bought then is still holding up fine and it has been used for 3 years now. It's a bit bleached from the sun, but still holding strong. I leave it up all year round. We just relocated again. I recently purchased 2 more additional kits to fence in the yard for our Chihuahua mix. We have a large yard here, so with the fence kits, he has TONS of room to roam, safely away from the neighborhood streets, others pets, and kids. It works great to keep him where he's supposed to be. (Would not recommend for large breed/heavy dogs.) Going to order 1 more as we need about 25 more feet to completely fence the yard in! It's an attractive fence and I recommend it to everyone who I think could make use of it! (12/30/2010)

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

I bought 3 of these back in the spring. I used 2 of them to fence in my garden to keep the neighbor's cats out. It seems to have also kept the raccoons out of my garden too this year. The 3rd one I used to make a portable fenced in area for my 7 chickens. They have their own coop and run; but, I set this up around the back of the coop so they can get out and enjoy more area to scratch and have fun. They have a blast!

I use this pen to extend the area my chickens can peck around from their chicken "ark". You just clip one wing's feathers to keep them from flying out. It is easy to move around every so often. Just need to use earth staples to secure the bottom so they don't crawl under.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

This is a simple fabric fence system with synthetic support rods that push into the ground. It will not stop a determined or large animal but it may discourage one by simply being in the way. It sets up easily and can be fitted to a variety of sizes and shapes. If it is sprayed with animal deterrent spray it will discourage animals without getting spray material on plants that are going to be used for food or decoration.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

This was easier than a metal fence to install however
I did use metal posts to help reinforce the posts that came with the fence. This will keep out small animals but a determined deer could probably get in.
I also used the metal staples you sell to keep the fence bottom against the ground. This is a good product if you do not want to bother installing a more permanent metal fence. At the end of the season it will be easy to take down and store.

Best Uses:
Protect Garden
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

For the price, this fencing kit is a good purchase. Although not as tall as the product photo might seem to indicate (the photo appears to have been taken from ground level with the lens facing up), so far the fencing has managed to halt invasions of nasty golden tail squirrels and other impediments to the gardening process. The stakes that are the cornerstones for the fence are of solid quality, while the fence material itself is strong enough to ensure vigilence in prohibiting entry to all but the smallest of critters. A few more "ground" stakes would have been a nice addition, but the pull out Earth stakes from this supplier should be an additional consideration to help anchor the fence in place where the fabric meets the ground. All in all, a good purchase.

we are in our 70's and found it difficult to set up. After the third attempt it is up, but not perfect. there are diagonal wrinkles. one pole broke while pounding in soil, but it is up. Do not yet know if it will do the job of keeping out deer and rabbits yet, because pheasant flew over and ate all the corn seed from the whole garden, it needs to be planted again. the first two attempts were in high wind (30 to 40 an hour). does not work well in wind.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

UNLIKE a lot of fencing that requires extensive tools and more than one person to set it up, this one goes up quickly for just one person and the most I needed was a hammer occasionaly to drive a stake in the ground. I like the clip design for securing it to the pole/posts. The color blends in with my yard so its not like obnoxious orange or anything. I don't want the fence to be obvious, just to work and it does that well. It should be usable again the next time I need it since there shouldn't be any damage to the fence from nails or anything so I can see that I will probably be using it again. Right now I just mainly use it to fence off a part of my yard where I want to reseed without my pets getting into it and getting muddy or damaging my reseeding efforts. I'm sure there will be several more times where I need a way to seperate a part of my yard and so I am happy with this fence. Being just one person I like being able to do it myself and not have to wait for help from another person.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

I enclosed a small area where I have raised beds. I'm using it to hopefully keep rabbits out of my lettuce--remember Peter Rabbit? Also, there is a cat in the neighborhood that thinks my mulch is a litter box. That's extra annoying since the veggies are next to a patio eating area. 'Hope the fence stops that. If it works for the above, it will have served it's purpose.

It took much longer than the instructions said to set up, and I'm afraid that if an animal decides to climb on it, it will fall down. There's also no way for me to get in without taking one end of the fence lose and squezzing between the poles. I may be the one it's keeping out of my garden, not the animals!

I understand from others that rabbits will chew through this fence so I am disappointed; although, I haven't had it happen yet. Also, I was shocked to see how short it is. The angle of the picture makes it look much taller. My fault for not taking a yardstick to see just how short it is.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

Didn't need to ask for help in setting up the fence. I liked that two drawstrings woven into the fencing mesh were included to cinch it up. Such simplicity. Just tap the stakes in; wrap the flexible fencing around the poles and use the clips to anchor it. I was pretty simple to make a gate on a narrow end. There was lots of fencing material left over; my enclosure measures 4' x 8'. It will be very effective as long as no giraffes live in my Pa. woods.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

This fence is just great! I put it up myself and if one follows the directions, it will go up very easily. I have two big dogs and a wonderful rasied bed garden and this fence was exactly what I needed. Twice since putting the fence up we have had two very windy days with wind gusts exceeding 40mph and the fence posts don't even wiggle. I would suggest using earth staples to hold it in the ground. I used three for every 10 foot section of fence. This really helps to stabilize the fence. I would recommend this fence to anyone who needs a cheap barrier to protect their garden. If you are a woman, it is so easy, no tools needed and can be put up by yourself.

I sewed the holes shut, but still would not expect to receive it in that state. I was bummed, but needed it, so I put it up that day. I do love it, but would have rather not needed to fix it before I even used it. So far, no animals are in the garden, that I have seen, anyhow. I caught one squirrel, but he jumped in from the top. I also used the earth staples, which are great!

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

I bought this fence last year to put around my raised bed gardens. It was a bit too big and not as easy to assemble as I had expected but it did the job of keeping my dogs from running through the beds. The real disappointment was that of the 10 poles that came with the kit, about 5 of them either broke or bent beyond repair - I have heavy clay soil, but really! I called to see if I could just get new poles but they only sell the kit. I don't need a whole new fence just to get a few poles. Now I'll have to rig something up to make it useful again - disappointing.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

This is a great product in keeping the cats out of my raised bed gardens. With two people the set up is fairly easy. I do wish that it came in different lengths as it was too long for my two 8x4 beds with a 4' diameter circular garden in between. Hopefully cutting it into different sizes won't ruin it. It also works well with the faux bamboo poles, sold through Gardener's Supply, for increasing height.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

At the first of the season this was wonderful; kept the dogs out. Deer however, jump right over, but I expected that and constantly sprayed deer repellant. Now, however, something - probably squirrels are eating the tomatoes. Somehow they got in!

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

The rabbits chewed big holes in it within the first week. Then the deer just pushed their way through it. Easy to set up, kind of nice looking, but totally inefficient at keeping wildlife out of your garden.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

As a travel nurse with a dog and cat who travels and lives in an RV, I have been racking my brain trying to come up with a portable containment system to allow my cat to be outside with me. Very small outdoor enclosures sold on online pet supply stores are VERY expensive. Making my own portable fencing with wooden stakes and a plastic fence looked too cumbersome to deal with. I found this kit online and thought it might work. It is awesome! I can fence off any size area, move it easily, and best of all it just rolls up for storage and weighs maybe 5 lbs. For any RVers out there that carry those heavy, portable wire dog enclosures, this is an excellent alternative and provides much more space for your pet.

It's not for all pets. My cat has never been "jumper," so the 39" height is just enough of a deterrent. The fence doesn't even come up to my waist, so potential buyers take note! He hasn't figured out how to sneak under the mesh yet either. If he does, some garden stakes (not included) will do the trick to keep him in I'm sure. I am so happy I found this product...now my cat can be outside with me and the dog to enjoy the beautiful weather. Now if I could just make him stop eating the grass!

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

All my friends scoffed when I bought this fence, but I haven't had a squirrel in my garden since I installed it, which means I haven't lost a tomato to a squirrel, either. I got it a little too late in the season, so I did lose early plants to rabbits, but I replanted after installing the fence, and lost nothing. I highly recommend this fence to keep out unwanted animals from home gerdens.

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

I thought this fence was working perfectly until about a week ago. I installed it with a gate, and used turf staples to secure the bottom so animals couldn't get under it.

I noticed about 10 6-8" holes chewed in the fencing at the bottom. The little critters are chewing right through it! An animal fence isn;t much good if rabbits can get through it!!

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

I bought this because I have a small garden and often the rabbits and squirrels are eating or digging up my plants. I thought this was a nicer looking fence than chicken wire. Shortly after installing this fence I have found 3 areas of the fencing that have been "eaten" by animals, so now I have holes in the fence. I don't understand why this is for sale if it is so easily compromised rendering it useless??

By carVerified Purchaser from Southwestern Virginia on 5/11/2009
Cons:
Stakes too short
Best Uses:
Protect Garden
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Garden Fence Kit:

Wanted to use product as advertised, i.e., to keep small critters from invading garden beds. The stakes in this kit were much too short to provide stability to the array installed in WELL-WORKED soil. Had to go out and purchase 60" stakes. Too bad. The clip design to attach the mesh to the stakes would have been a good one had the stakes been long enough.
