I really love this product for getting rid of those little fruit flies/gnats that seem to be impossible not to attract in your kitchen if you keep fresh fruit and vegetables out. Plus, it's so attractive in it's sandsoap/stone container, no one knows what it is! I even get compliments on it from guests thinking it's some sort of scent holder. No smell, no muss, but it still does the job. Now I can enjoy tomatos, pitted fruits, etc. that just taste better when they can be left at room temperature without being bothered by small flies.

So far, so good. No Flies. Still have to get through September....my heavy fruit fly month. But I'm surprised I have no fruit flies at all. This is uncommon, since we keep fresh fruits and veggies from the garden on the counter for snacking. The flies have always been hard to control before this item.

I have a small compost bucket that I collect my greens , coffe grounds, egg shells and bannana peels. Fruit flys love this if I forget to empty the bucket daily. They last for months and causes no mess and I don't have to worry about the cat or the kids getting into it. Its great

We used this as part of a multi-pronged approach with a large fruit fly infestation. It is MUCH better looking than the fly paper strip we hung. I know the trap helped. What finally did it was when we wrapped the fruit bowl in fine netting for a week or so until a whole generation of flies was denied access. Now the trap is all we need to keep them at bay.

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

It's especially difficult during the summer season not to bring home fruit fly eggs or larva on bananas, peaches, plums, and other soft fruits. Years ago after a particularly bad infestion, I tried GS's traps and have used them since. I keep a supply of these on hand so I can open a fresh one as soon as I spot the first fly given their incredibly short life span. These traps really work.

Since we have a kitchen compost canister, no air conditioning and live in warm climate - fruit flys can be a problem. I got the "stone" container these fit in and use it every year when it starts to warm up. They are small, hide in the corner of a counter and keep the fruit flys to a minimum even with lots of "fruit" scraps in the kitchen compost can!

I saw ONE, and that only very briefly. I'm truly impressed.

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

We just bought the fruit fly traps and the soapstone box as a gift for a family member. They work better for fruit flies than our homemade version, and there is the added advantage of our not having to view the tiny corpses. We like the safety aspect as well--they can be placed right in the fruit bowl if one desires.

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

When we harvested our winter squash, we didn't notice that one of them had a rotten spot. By the time we got around to pressure cooking and freezing the crop, the house was completely infested with fruit flies. Thanksgiving dinner was a disaster, more swatting at fruit flies than eating. The four fruit fly traps arrived shortly thereafter, and I put one in each of the main rooms. Within 24 hours the fruit fly numbers had decreased, within 5 days they were all gone.

I keep one on my kitchen counter next to the fruit bowl. It is especially useful in the spring and fall when the fruit flies are particularly pesty. Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

With having healthy fruits and veggies easily accessable on my countertop, fruit flies move in fast. I have tried many other products, some requiring a smear of ketchup on the inside of a sticky circle. Nothing else works, let alone well. Within days of putting it on my countertop, major fruit fly swarms disappear.

This item was TOO EXPENSIVE for what you get. Here's a BETTER IDEA....put some CIDER VINEGAR and a few drops of DISHWASHING LIQUID in a shallow dish. This will attract JUST AS MANY fruit flies at just pennies each time you do it! Sure you have to replace it every day, but for a cost savings you get it's worth it!

Keep it in the kitchen near the compost pail. Takes up room on the kitchen counter, so sometims put it on the floor.

Still have the pesky little critters around, especially if we don't close the compost pail fast enough, or if we have really ripe fruit/veggies on the counter.

Thanks from me & my Mom!

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

This product drastically reduces the fruit fly population. It is easy to use and blends in anywhere even w/o the soapstone box. I highly recommend it. When using be sure to reduce the breeding grounds for fruit flies: keep fruit covered or in fridge, keep compost bucket tightly sealed, etc. The first two I used are nearly at the end of their usefulness and I will be setting out the second two in a week or so. I use two: one in the kitchen and one in the dining room.

Well, these caught a lot of fruit flies, they did. But they hardly took care of the problem. I had to entirely remove all attractants: kitchen compost, fruit and vegetables on counter, and even had to make sure all dishes were done and dried. In addition, I tried vacuuming up the majority of the flies. I moved the compost to the garage and kept the baits in the compost. The fruit flies love it in there. Another, less expensive way of making baits is to pour apple cider vinegar into a jar with a few drops of dish liquid. Cover the jar with a lid with holes punched in. They go in, don't come out. Not the cure, but helps.

When purchased with the soapstone containers, these "traps" are attractive and effective at work. The soapstone looks great on a desk or credenza. No one can tell what they really are, other than a decorative stone accent. The traps work best when you can pinpoint the problem areas, such as the office plants. If I am being bothered by one, I simply move the trap. Would have given it 5 stars if all of the fruit flies knew where to go!

Where do fruit flies come from? Where do they stay in winter? All I know is come summer, here come the fruit flies.I have used these particular traps for several years. I will put one in the soapstone container on the cabinet next to the fruit platter. It's attractive as well as very effective. It cuts down the FF population to 1/10 of what I see without the trap. This year I bought a FF trap from our local hardwear store. I trapped all of 8 fruit flies, and it was messy to use.I learned my lesson and ordered two more from Garndeners Supply Co. They will last me well into fall. All you have to do is use the little punch stick supplied w/the traps, and 'Bye Bye Fruit Fly'!!

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

It really limits the number of fruit flies, but only in a limited area. I kept it near my trash can, but it did not help the area around my sink where the compost bucket was. There were less flies in general, none where the trash can was, but a few, and only 1 or 2, near my compost bucket and sink. I still would not do without it because 1 or 2 is a lot better than the dozens I had before I put it out.

This product is really good. You open the holes and just place it near the problem area. It was not something I could say "WOW look how fast the fruit flies are gone!" But, that usually means you can also smell whatever is attracting the flies. With this product, the best thing I can say is that both my wife and daughter -- within 48 hours -- said "How did you get rid of the fruit flies?"

I've used this product for 3 summers now. We live in a fruit belt area and fruit flies are a real nuisance. The first year, this seemed to help. Last summer less, and this summer not at all. I'm a bit disappointed. I've made my own fruitfly traps out of apple cider vinegar that worked better really, but they are a real eyesore. Still, I doubt I'd spend the money on this again. Perhaps I can make my own solution and put it in the attractive container???

It hasn't yet been a month since I displayed the fly traps, so I haven't needed to put a refill in yet. But any flies I've seen in the house have disappeared. I'm very happy with the product and will continue to use it.

Comments about Fruit Fly Traps, Set of 2:

Fruitflies are increasing at our local grocery stores, which are then carried into the home, and office if the same fruit is carried in as lunch. Even washing the fruit did not end the problem. This product has literally ended the infestation in the kitchen. The container fits nicely anywhere and is discreet. I have no complaints about it.
