Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

I have my trap stationed next to the compost pot next to the kitchen sink. Last year we were riddled with fruit flies, however, this year I placed the trap on the counter before spring started. I have seen a couple of flies; however, they disappear shortly after seeing them. If I notice any flies near the fruit bowl across the kitchen, I just move the trap there temporarily until the flies are gone. Definitely would recommend this product.

I got these last year to control the little flies that the cat box attracts even when you clean it daily. The soapstone box is attractive & it looks like a potpourri thingy. I got refills this time since the flies ramp up when it gets warm out. I place it near/on top of the cat box. It just plain works. Ordered the refills this time.

The traps are effective and easy to use. There is no muss and no fuss- it is easy to change the traps as needed. The traps are extremely effective as in no time at all, the bug population is depleted. The soapstone boxes to hold the traps allow them to be placed even in conspicuous places and not be an eyesore as they look like little boxes that hold trinkets.

We placed this item right next to our fruit bowl after a trip to the store brought fruit flies back to our house. Within three or four days, the fruit flies were gone! The soapstone color was pretty. One thing which we found surprising was the size of the trap - the sides of the triangle were about four inches long (I was expecting someing only an inch or two long from the photo). All in all, a great product!

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

We had a small number of fruit flies this fall around the kitchen sink. Even though low in numbers, they were still a BIG nuisance. I had never tried a fruit fly trap but trusted Gardener's Supply Company and read other purchaser's reviews. I purchased the product and am extremely happy with the results. It took a few days for the flies to be attracted to the trap but eventually I could see them down inside the soapstone container working their way into the trap. Our numbers went down to an occasional fly. I would recommend this product to others to try. It worked for me!

I always get fruit flies when I start bringing in tomatoes and fruit in the late summer. I have been using my own homemade fruit fly traps (a glass or jar with a solution in it), but you end up with a glass on the counter with a bunch of dead fruit flies in it. Not very appetizing. This is much more attractive, less subject to spilling, and it works.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

Clever design and I like the looks of the soapstone. However, the traps - which only contain a weak vinegar solution - are outrageously expensive. The product is effective, but you need to have it in place BEFORE you get fruit flies and give it time to work. Don't expect miracles. If the traps could be rinsed out and refilled for at least 2 or 3 reuses, I would give the product 5 stars.

We purchased this product at the end of the growing season. Next year will provide a more full picture of how well this product works. Thus far, we are not seeing fruit flies, anymore, and that's very encouraging.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

The soapstone box is attractive sitting next to (or in) my fruit bowl on the island, but I honestly cannot tell if the lure is working. I see no evidence of trapped flies. Although, to be honest, I see none flying around either. We only had a few flies from ripe fruit which we removed from the bowl, so I cannot tell if the trap is effective or if we just do not have a problem. In the past, we have found a little white wine is a great lure, so if we have a problem in the future, I will probably just pour a little wine in the bottom of the box to see if that works.

these are no better than putting out a small bowl of vinegar with a drop of liquid soap! I wanted something that would be effective on the fruit flies in my kitchen, and I didn't like the smell of putting out a dish of vinegar although it does the job extremely well. Unfortunately, these traps are just a plastic container that has a vinegar solution in it. And, I had better luck with a dish of vinegar. Would not buy again.

I must agree with another reviewer that this product is not worth the money. The box is nice to put perhaps some potpourri in, but as for killing the fruit flies, no. They are attracted to the lure but they do not go into the trap. It's been three days and I have as many fruit flies buzzing around the kitchen as before I got the trap. Don't bother to buy it unless you want the box for something else.

We have an open bowl of kitchen scraps that goes out to the compost each night, and a large fruit bowl. The trap has resulted in a large decrease in fruit flies, although since our compost and bowl are at other ends of the kitchen, I think we'd have better luck with two traps. The soapstone box is fine-looking, but a little large. If I did it again, I'd just buy the traps and save the money. The traps themselves can be tucked behind appliances, bowls, etc.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

These traps work very well on my kitchen counter. I'm sure they would also work in an office break room, or wherever you keep unrefrigerated fruit stored. The soapstone holder is very pretty -- you'd never know it's holding an insect trap. Disposal is simple and your hands never have to touch anything yucky.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

This product worked fairly well...We had an unusually large infestation of fruit flies, so it was a daunting task. I feed fruit and veggies to my parrots, everyday whose cages are in an outside porch. The fruit flies are inevitable, but the traps really helped, after a few days of use.I put one under each bird cage.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

This fruit fly trap seems to be working great! I have a summer garden and always have lots of produce on my counter top. Of course, I also have lots of fruit flies! I have looked at this trap for years and was skeptical that is would work. But so far, this trap is doing it's job. I would recommend this as a safe and effective way of controlling fruit flies. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: price is a little high and trap is a bit larger than expected but is not too obtrusive.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

We were having a large fruit fly problem, we were hoping to use a more natural way to get rid of them and ordered this. Didn't seem to attract them very much, in fact, the flys were more likely to perch on the box then go to the trap itself. We could see a few in the liquid, but most we had to kill with a spray.

We bought two, one for the kitchen and one for the sunroom where we grow many plants. The one in the kitchen works very well, since it's right by the compost pot. The one in the sunroom doesn't work as well because it has to cover a very large area. I would recommend only trying to cover an area of limited space. Otherwise, a good thing.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

Normally I get the fruitfly when my fruit is bad and they go away when I remove the fruit. Well, this year they have been bad and I could not get rid of them, even when all fruit and plants were out of the house. I read the Gardener magazine and saw this and decided to give it a try. Almost immediately the flies were gone. We are talking perhaps an hour!!! I love it and will always keep one in my kitchen from this day on...

We had about 5-6 fruit flies that started to become a problem in our kitchen so we purchased this product after reading the reviews. The first day, nothing spectacular happened and I was tempted to return the product. Well, the second day, everything changed - no more fruit flies! We are coming up on a month and I have to say, we haven't seen a fruit fly since placing this on our counter. Very happy with the product!

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

I was skeptical at first because I want instant gratification. I get fruit fly infestation around the end of the year with the harvest and have a really hard time getting rid of them. I tried this and was impressed. It did not work over night... but I had fruit flies all over the house as a result of my tomato harvest. They were centered in the kitchen. The system did not work immediately but in one-two weeks the fruit flies were gone. I was disappointed at first because it didn't work right away.... I was considering sending the system back but with time, it worked and that's what important. I am glad I was patient and gave it time to work. It's pretty and all that like the reviewers say... but I wanted an end to the fruit flies in my face... and with patience... I got it.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

I had gotten a large # of fruit flies -- and they were increasing by the day. This works. It doesn't work IMMEDIATELY!. It will take a while to get them all --- but it eventually does get them all. I noticed a notable reduction after 24-48 hours. After 2-3 weeks, I didn't see any. Sometimes, I would move the container around if I saw one or 2 hanging about in a different place.

The soapstone container is very attractive--- able to sit on a counter without being offensive. And is small enuf to tuck "here or there".

I have alot of indoor plants that are outside for most of the summer. Even when repotted before being brought in for the winter, fruit flies and other pests will hatch shortly after. These really work well to keep bugs under control and it is not unsightly.

I put this on the counter in the kitchen adjacent to the ripening bowl. I think its working because there are less fruit flies but this is that time of year when they flourish so its hard to tell if the item is really making a huge difference. The disposable insert is good for thirty days and likely by then I won't need it again until spring when I can't find it and I 'll buy another. Because those little red-eyed tyrants are just that infuriating and I'll take any reasonable measure to minimize their aggravation. Its vinegar-based trap so its safe around kids and other living, growing things and makes sense and isn't obtrusive. Good product.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

After reading the reviews I was somewhat concerned about the product. I too sat and watched the flies. They didn't appear to go into the trap, just fly around it. However, the flies in my house have GREATLY reduced. I may find one here or there, but not like the problem I had before. My conclusion is that it must be working!
I must say I was a little confused about how the display/product worked. I want to mention that the box is only decorative. If you wanted to use the fly trap without the decrotive box you could. The trap is white with three hole in the top. If you do not mind the look, then I would save your money and not get the decorative box.
Overall, very pleased.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

At the end of every summer, our neighborhood is crawling with fruit flies. Not sure why, but everyone around us also suffers like we do. We didn't know what to do, so we thought we would try these traps and see how they would help.

After removing all signs of anything I thought the flies would enjoy, and putting the trap out on the counter, we have seen a reduction in the number of flies. It has not totally gotten rid of the flies, but we are much more comfortable. We are mainly seeing them in different parts of the house still (which is confusing me, because the only food we have is in the kitchen and all of our garbage bins are covered).

I would recommend them. It does take a few days to start noticing a reduction (at least that has been our experience).

I placed the product on the kitchen counter right next to the fruit and vegetables. It fit easily into a corner. I was initially excited because it was both attractive and low profile. However, it didn't do the job. The fruit flies continued to show up in that area and preferred the fresh produce to the lure inside the container.
Oh well. I intend to keep the soapstone container, but I'll do some research and probably fill it with some other ingredient.

Having a major issue with tiny fruit flies in my house (as I did last year this time), I was so excited to find this product and was so hopeful that it would solve my problem without having to resort to the nasty sticky fly strips intended for a barn (as I had to last year). The soapstone box is beautiful and well crafted, but I didn't need it except to hold the fly traps. The bait traps appear safe and effecient, but I haven't appreciated any decline in the number of pests I'm experiencing. Sad to say I have had to go back to the fly strips to get an effectual elimination of my bugs.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

We used two traps in the kitchen: One on the island counter where we sometime prep food and the other on the sink and stove counter near our basket of potatoes, onions and squash. Fruit flies are still present so we cover any prepped food with a kitchen towel. While we've seen them in and around the trap, they are not zoning in on it exclusively. They are still quite a bother but, grudgingly, perhaps not as much if we didn't have the traps at all.

I called once to complain after 1 week of use. Was told to make the holes bigger and assured that it does work. I am still not sure. I did question the picture on the box that depicks the trap sitting in the fruit bowl. It didn't make sence but I even tried that.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

Growing a garden of our own, not wanting to use the AC much (only when really necessary) - we prefer open windows with fresh air, we get fruitflies. Especially when I purchase bananas and leave them on the counter. I purchased these two products and both my husband & I are pleased with the results. Fruit flies are next to non-existant in the home now, and the soapstone box covers the fruitfly trap and actually matches our counters and cupboards - so it does not stand out like a sore thumb.

I keep this on the kitchen counter because I have so much garden produce sitting out until I can put up the vegetables on the weekend. It helps to keep this on the same counter as the produce. One thing each summer that has always bothered me is fruit flies in the house from the tomatoes on the counter. This has totally eliminated that problem and the extra money I paid for the soapstone box makes me feel good about having that on the kitchen counter!

With summer comes fruit flies and they seemingly arrive by the hundreds overnight. This year I decided to give these a try and I am so glad I did. within 36 hours every single fly was gone and they haven't returned. I now can leave fruit on the counter to ripen and not worry about the return of the flies.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

During the summer months my kitchen is full of fresh fruit and vegetables. I believe good food and a healthy environment go hand in hand. I hate to admit that fruit flies have been a problem in my kitchen, but no more. This cute little trap REALLY WORKS! It looks great on my countertop and blends in with the kitchen. I have tried home remedies in the past that didn't work as well and looked like a science project gone bad. I don't know if my results are common, but I have not seen a single fruit fly this summer. This product is definitely a must have.

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

Took the fruit fly traps and soapstone box to our beach house where we often keep baskets of fresh fruit from the local farmers' market out on the counter or on tabletops. The traps effectively controlled the warm-weather fruit flies -- there is NO smell, as with other traps we've tried -- and the soapstone box is decorative. No one would know it's true purpose on the countertop. It's great!

We were about to have international guests stay with us at our home for 2 weeks. We had fly paper hanging everywhere- even above our dining table. (eewww!) We knew we had to control flies with something less noticeable. Your fly traps were the perfect solution. There have been no flies buzzing around since we put them out, and nobody guessed that they're fly traps! Great!

Comments about Soapstone Box with Two Fruit Fly Traps:

Millions of fruit flies at the composter outside, but not a single one in the house near the kitchen waste receptacle. Its only a few months old, so that kept me from 5 stars.
