This product inhibits mosquitoes in our 40-gallon water tank kept for deer and other critters. Nice especially since the tank is shaded a good part of the day. We weigh a ring down with a rock so animals like raccoons will be less likely to disturb and try to eat the product. Usually lasts between times when we scrub out the tank. Excellent product. I'd never used these before, but we were having such an infestation of mosquitoes that I had to try something. We keep buckets of water out for deer, as well as a birdbath. I used a quarter of a dunk for each deer water bucket, and about 1/8th for the birdbath. Haven't seen any mosquitoes, so the dunks must be doing their job. The only thing I don't like is that the dunks seem to leave a "scum" around the edges of the containers. That's probably not really a problem, but it's unsightly.

I was looking for something to get rid of mosquitoes but still keep my yard safe for my cat to 'hang out" in it. These are great for controling mosquito larvae in my fish pond, and bird baths. I also use them io our rain barrel. With many pot plants in our yard, these rings, broken into 4ths, control larvae in the pot saucers, especially the self watering pots.

I purchased these as a way to solve a persistant problem with mosquito larva in my bird bath. As the bath dosn't hold alot of water, I broke each "ring" into quarters and only use one piece at a time.

So far I've been "larva free"! One draw back is that the ring sort of crumbles into little brown pellets that wash out easily when you clean. It's a small price to pay for having no mosquitos!

This doesn't seem to bother the birds at all; I have more now than ever before.

I have used these in my backyard pond and any other standing water around my yard for the past several years. They REALLY WORK!! We still have mosquitoes due to the large amount of foliage surrounding our yard, but the mosquito rings keep the water areas completely clear of "wigglers" (mosquito larva). I bought these to put in the small pond in our backyard. The pond has an upper level, a small fall in the middle and a lower level that then empties into a small brook and flows through the woods along side the property. The whole thing is weather dependent - no rain = no pond, no pond = no brook, etc... Are there less mosquitos around now? Not really, but it's hard to say that the product doesn't work. I put them in the pond so maybe they work great and the mosquitos I'm seeing are coming from the brook or the neighbors yard or the vernal pools in the woods. Mosquitos know no boundaries right?

Simply unwrap the ring and toss it into the water. Unlike bottled liquids, the floating rings keep the water larvae-free regardless of the amount of water added. Previously I'd use a liquid, applied by drops, that would become ineffective after rainfall or evaporation. The rings take away the guess work. When the ring is gone, replace it.
My only negative comment is that the rings would last longer and not "beach" so easily if they were larger. By "beach" I mean that the ring will sometimes cling to the dry sides of the pond when heavy evaporation occurs.

My fountain is one of my favorite garden features. It is in the middle of my lilly garden.

The mosquito rings are the only thing I have found that keep my rain water barrels free from larvae. Larvae do not appear and if I find any that have missed my inspection, all I do is add the ring to the water and the larvae are killed. The rings are easy to use, just drop in the water container.

I have four rain barrels around my home and mosquitos are a HUGE problem in Florida. The mosquito control rings have allowed me to have the benefits of stored rain water without creating more of a mosquito problem than we already have. Mosquitos are pervasive throughout our Dallas spring, summer and autumn, and sometimes well into winter. We could not survive outside without using dunks. Throw one whole one into a water barrel and you're m. free for a month, a half into a birdbath does the same.
