The mosquito is the Minnesota state bird and this sure took care of the problem in our huge gardens. It has been a very wet spring and they just flew out of the grass when I shook it over plants and grass. I don't care if it only works for three weeks or even less, we only use organic and this product lets us be outside and enjoy the short MN summer.

I used this on a large deck at least 10' above the ground. Even at that, we were bothered to excess by mosquitoes and gnats. It seemed to be ineffective at discouraging them.

My husband brought this home for us to try--we live next to a marsh and our mosquitoes have been COMPLETELY out of hand. It had gotten so bad that I had to fog the garage just to get to the car without being swarmed.

Since we applied this to the yard around the deck and in the ferns out front, we have not had the swarm problem.

I love this product because it is safe to use around our children and will not contaminate the creek in the backyard with hazardous chemicals. The smell is not pervasive as other reviewers have claimed--I reapplied last night (after a 3" downpour) and this morning cannot smell anything. I'd rather smell geranium and citronella oils than the perfume used to cover up the smell of DEET and whatever other chemicals are in OFF!

I bought this product several years ago in an attempt to deter the swarms of gnats we have in the Northeast. Not only did this product significantly improve the gnat situation I also had a marked decrease in deer ticks. Others may not get the same result but we went from having a major tick problem in the yard to virtually none in the treated areas. I love this repellent and two applications a year does the trick. Mosquitos, thankfully, don't bite me anyway so can't say how it works on them. I am constantly recommending this product for controlling gnats and even give it as a gift. A little goes a long way.

This product is great! I sprinkle it along the entrance to my screened in porch and in front of our front windows where the mosquitos gather. They leave. I like the smell but mosquitoes do not. This is a product that does work! I used too much at first thinking that it would take a lot to work well. This product only works when mosquito issues aren't terribly serious. We discovered this recently when temperatures shot above 90 degrees in the Washington, DC area and the mosquitos became more aggressive. This repellent ceased to have any impact after that point.

I tried the other Mosquito granules offered here, and hated the smell. My neighbor commented that my yard smelled like a pickle jar from all the garlic. Plus, it seemed not to deter the Asian Tiger mosquitoes much. These granules hardly smell at all, and what you do smell is much more pleasant. I think it works better too -- doesn't completely seem to have eliminated the bugs, but we've also had unusual amounts of rain this summer. There are definitely fewer bugs, at least when first applied. Again, with all the rain we've had, it's hard to confirm that the product lasts 3 weeks as advertised, because it keeps getting washed away. Overall I think it works AND I don't have to worry about my cat when he goes outside.

Unfortunately I was unable to buy the mosquito repellant for my yard that I have purchased from your company in the past. Another product claiming to be effective in repelling mosquitos was available, but was clearly not as effective. It was really flaky in texture and more difficult to apply. The other product was granular and more pungent for a day, but it really worked for approximately 2-3 weeks before I needed to reapply it. Please bring back the other product. Love your magazine!!! Keep up the good work.

This is so simple to use - just shack it out over the area. The mosquitos have been horrible this year because of all the rain and my grandchildren were getting eaten up. We used the product once for our July 4th barbecue. The smell was really strong for hours - but fortunately I had applied it a few hours before the guests came. (The package says apply at least 1 hour before.) The smell did fade somewhat. It largely did keep the mosquitoes away for the evening, but we did not find it that it had long lasting effects. Perhaps that's because we've had a number of thunderstorms. But don't expect it to last the three weeks stated on the package. Since we have a dog, we liked the fact that there were no chemicals in the product.

The product worked mostly as advertised. In one area there were no mosquitoes for several weeks and in another there were only a few. Two downsides: 1) there is a strong odor for about a day and 2) the product is made of vermiculite, which is commonly contaminated with asbestos. I don't know if that is a danger under the conditions of use.

For the past several years, our backyard has been difficult to enjoy in the Summertime due to blood-thirsty mosquitos who made a meal out of us. Citronella candles didn't help, and we don't like to use poisons.

So, I was very happy to find this all-natural alternative. I was a bit skeptical but thought "What the heck, I'll give it a try". I'm so glad I did.

First of all, it smells wonderful - cedar, geranium, lemongrass. Best of all, it keeps the mosquitos away!! Really!! We can enjoy our backyard again! It lasts at least 3-4 weeks per application, and two containers will last us the entire Summer.

I went to a local park last night (a few blocks down the street) and got bitten all up by mosquitos. This fact crystallized how effective this product is. Buy it, you'll be a fan.

We have several outdoor entertainment areas to enjoy but the mosquitoes are unbearable. We used Mosquito Beater in parts of our yard and noticed that it DID work, but, like any other insect control product, there will still be SOME mosquitoes so it isn't a cure-all, but it has made the yard more bearable in combination with eco-friendly insect repellent worn on the skin. The price is quite steep and it doesn't last as long as specified (3 wks) without further application, but we are desperate and this is the best non-polluting/poisoning option available.

We live in a moist woodsy area, and every spring and summer we only go out when we can do so without being literally swarmed with mosquitos/black flies. I'm an avid gardener. After sprinkling this product around, we noticed an almost immediate clearing of insects, but a cloying and unpleasant sweet, artificial, flowery, perfume scent, that doesn't go away.
