Cons:
Flimsy
Best Uses:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Bird Nest Planters:

Love the look and design of this but it is definitely not sturdy. I have it on my back deck and I take it in if it gets windy or storms come in. This is very light weight and flimsy. It would be blown over if we got any type of winds. Also, doesn't hold a lot of flowers. I have two tiny trailing verbenas in it and they are packed in there.

Comments about Bird Nest Planters:

This is one of the loveliest outdoor planters I've seen. It is very sturdy and assembles in less than 3 minutes. The design (screw the legs to the bottom of the wire base) works well. Once it is in the garden, I just pushed down slightly so the 3 legs were about 2 inches in the soil. It stays put even without plants/soil (too early ;-) and with high winds. I would definitely recommend this planter. I hope you carry it next season.

Before buying the bird nest planter, I read the reviews and knew to expect it would not be very large. It is very unique and will make wonderful addition to my garden. It is well made, good quality. In fact, I may purchase another one. The four star rating is due to price which is a little high considering the size. Regardless, I'm happy with the purchase.

Comments about Bird Nest Planters:

This planter is well made and a lovely design, but I won't be able to use it as a planter since it's the size of a cereal bowl. It isn't worth the trouble to return it so I'm going to try and use it a bird "feeder" to keep any fruit or bread we leave out for them off the ground and away from our dogs.

Comments about Bird Nest Planters:

I received this as a Christmas present and can't wait for spring so I can get some plants in it! It's big enough to hold a nice assortment of annuals and yet not so big that it loses the impact of being what it is - a bird nest replica. I've got a corner near the stairs leading in our raised ranch just waiting for a decorating element like this!

Comments about Bird Nest Planters:

I actually bought this birds nest planter to go next to the fireplace as a decoration. I added some wooden eggs from a craft store and painted them a robin's egg blue. It does have just the 2 feet. I was hoping it would be 3 footed, but used bricks with holes to keep it standing. It looks ok until I can find a better way to keep it upright. It would be good if they made it in a larger size for people who use it as a planter. I think it's darling tho.

I love how this looks outside my door. I bought 4 of these. I have 2 of them, one beside front door one by side door. I love them. I gave one to a relative, it didn't go together to form a tight rod. They took out one part and have had to make it shorter in order to get it to hold the weight of the empty bird's nest, without wobbling. I haven't given the third one away yet, after the other one didn't do so hot. I still love mine, would like for the bird's nest to be larger, doesn't hold much soil.
I would probably buy it again, just because the two I have here look so nice. (I helped assemble the one for my relative so I know it was done the same as my two that went together nicely.

I just received this planter and am so pleased. I knew it was quite small when I ordered it so was not surprised by the size. It is easy to assemble and sturdy when placed in the ground. It adds decoration and some height to my garden. I live in a townhome so have a fairly small area to plant. I have it between a pee wee oak leaf hydrangea and a butterfly bush, both white in color. I plan to plant some type of trailing seed in it, in a bright color for contrast. Thank you Gardener's Supply!

This item was a gift to my sister who like me is quite a gardener. She was so happy when the item arrived & was anxious for good weather so she could find a spot for it and get something planted in it. She has found a spot in her veggie garden, and says it looks great, & that the drapping plant she put in it seems to like it there.. I liked it so much when I saw it that I plan on getting 1 for myself. This item is located in Oregon.

I should have sent it back. It was much smaller than it appeared in the picture. it is much too small to actually be used as a planter! I sent one as a gift directly to my sister and was embarrassed when I received mine - knowing what I sent to her. This was my first purchase from you and I am sorry to say I may not buy anything again from you and I am sure you have nice things. I do appreciate your looking for feedback.

By NormaVerified Purchaser from Lake Wales, FL on 11/19/2009
Cons:
Flimsy
Best Uses:
Outdoor Plants
Describe Yourself:
Avid Gardener
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Bird Nest Planters:

Product much smaller than appears in catalog. Much to small to really do the job. Unsteady in ground. There were no measurements in the catalog and I assumed it was larger than it actually is. I'll use it because it's not worth paying the extra shipping to send it back but I won't order anything else from your catalog unless I can get more precise information about it. I think it is overpriced for what it actually is.

My Oregon native garden contains lots of bird feeders, bird houses and, of course, birds. This item is a great addition to my garden and fits in well with all of the bird decor. I put the planter in the middle of a giant sword fern; looks very natural there. My garden is a Great Blue Heron Garden (The official Portland, Oregon bird.) I planted begonia and trailing bacopa in the planter; looks awesome.

I'm a bird lover, so when I saw this little planter, I had to have it, and I wasn't disappointed with it. It added a very sweet touch along the walkway where we planted a small begonia and some trailing lobelia in the planter. Next year, I think I'll plant sedums in it and I can hardly wait.

Comments about Bird Nest Planters:

Loved this planter in the catalog. I have received tons of compliments and questions re: where I got it. The plants can dry out in it pretty quickly though since it it quite small and won't hold much soil (which would in turn could hold water). The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that it is smaller that I expected from the photo (perhaps I overlooked the dimensions noted in the catalog??). Bottom line - I do love this planter. It adds neat interest to our garden.

Even though I used the recommended accessories and installed the planter in a partly shaded area of my garden, the soil dried out each day. I remedied this problem by placing a plastic bag (with a small hole for drainage) under the hydromat. The planter would work better if it were two inches wider and two inches deeper. That said, I still like it very much.

Comments about Bird Nest Planters:

I have 3 in my gardens and they are adorable. I used the moss liners and the hydro-mats and planted them to look like the photo in the catalog. I had to really cram the plants in the nest because it is so small. I also had to move the planters to the shade to keep them from drying out so badly...again because the nest is so small. I hope my plants make it through the summer but I have my doubts. If the nest were a couple inches bigger in diameter they would be more useful. They are really cute though which is why I didn't send them back.

I love the design of this planter, going to put some ivy and pansies in it. Too cute!

Comments about Bird Nest Planters:

I lined this nest with a clear glass bowl and use it as a small accent bird bath. It looks charming mixed in with the flowers and the birds love it!

Comments about Bird Nest Planters:

This is so, so sweet! Although it said right in the description that it is 7.5", in my head I expected it to be bigger. I was going to plunk a hanging basket in it (and take off the hangers) and it's too small for that, but will look perfect with some ivy and coral bells that I plant myself. A bit pricey for the size, but other than that, very nice!
