Our field tests prove it: In self-watering planters, this lightweight mix works better than conventional potting soil. Its coarse, airy texture acts like a wick, carrying water from the planter’s reservoir to the root system. The result is more vigorous root growth, better aeration and less waterlogging. It's also an ideal mix for standard pots and planters. Contains sphagnum peat, perlite, vermiculite and limestone. 20-quart bag.

Used this in our Self-Watering window boxes we bought from Gardener's Supply. We LOVE the window boxes and this soil mix worked PERFECT! Never a problem. We used this at our beach house where we do not live full time. Our flowers always were watered. When gone for extended periods of time, it was very simple for our neighbor to keep our plants watered. Very little monitoring needed.

I bought a bag of the self watering container mix just to try it. I'll never plant my flowers in anything else again. The mix is light weight, retains water and my flowers are beautiful.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used this product in the self-watering window boxes and it has worked beautifully, even when we were away for a week during 90 degree weather.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
The bag of dry soil is light enough to carry to your work area and has holes to allow easy mixing with water before putting it in the container.
It would help if the description of each container or use would specify how many bags of soil are needed.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have containers which sit alongside my cement driveway all day in the hot sun. I used to have problems with them drying out even if I watered them every morning and every evening. With my Gardeners Supply self-watering pots and this container mix, that concern is gone, and I don't even have to water every other day. This mix works beautifully with the self watering pots and my plants grow much faster than in tradtional pots, even when filled with brand name "moisture control" potting mix.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
My plants make my neighbors green with envy. The self watering planter and self watering container mix are very gardener friendly. I can hardly wait until spring each year to order and get my fingers in this rich, lightweight mix!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I purchased 9 of the self-watering window boxes and this mixture to put in them. My plants are doing very well with minimal care. On the advice of the great Gardener Supply people, I waited for about a week after planting and then added some mild liquid plant food to the soil. I've read comments from others that purchased the window boxes that they were having problems with them draining poorly. I'd highly recommend using this soil, as even after days of rain, my boxes and plants are doing great.

Good product
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
my flowers are beautiful. flowers never dry out. only need to fill container 2x/week.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
It works very well for the self-watering containers. I have not liked the small square plastic self-waterers. They get too wet. The indicator for the water level is the best in them. The large square self-watering container also gets too wet. The rectangle trough is the best in the plastic ones. The teak self watering squares are great for my blueberries. They are on the deck to protect the berries from the birds. I was unable to get the upside down cylinder planters to work very well. I don't know how much water to give them.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
VERY EASY TO USE
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
My flowers look much healthier in my self-watering window boxes when I use this type of soil mixture. I only water once a week and they look great.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
We only use this soil in our self-watering containers,
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
It was a bit messy to mix up with the water.

I tried this product and also purchased container mix locally. I think this product is superior. It was easy to handle (I fill my containers by hand.) and mix.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I am using this soil in your hanging planter . seems to be working and the tomato plant looks healthy .
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use this product in two self-watering planters at our out-of-state campsite. The plants have been "on their own" for as long as three weeks without getting any water other than rainfall, and they bloomed all last summer. The container mix kept the moisture at a good level, without drying out too much or becoming saturated.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
If not for the self watering containers and the special soil for the containers I would never achieve the color I want from annuals that face the Maine coastal winds in the summer.

GROWS THE GREATEST TOMATOES POSSIBLE, ANY VARIETY
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have purchased this to use in self watering containers for 2 yrs. now and been very happy with the results. Plants stay healthy, don't get water logged. Trying in my tomato planters this year.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This soil soaked up the water so well that within a very short time I was able to begin filling containers and begin planting.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This is the best potting soil I have used, whether in the self-watering containers or just regular flower pots. It has a great water-holding capacity, so the soil stays moist but not soggy. Even a very large pot filled with the soil and plants is easy to carry and move around unlike other potting soil mixes.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I had previously ordered the self-watering planters but did not use until beginning of June along with the potting soil. We were gone for eight days and the TN summer weather was hot, also rainy. Upon our return home we were delighted to see that the plants and my hubby's vegetables in pots looked wonderful in spite of the heat and amount of rain that occured while we were gone. Very pleased with all products I have purchased from Gardener's Supply. These self watering devices are a great idea, best since sliced bread. Staff at Gardener's Supply are always pleasant and very helpful. Thank You.

Perfect for my hanging baskets of fuchsias & cyclamen.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use it every year when planting my self-watering container boxes. Regular potting mix just doesn't work as well, as I found out once when I used a substitute.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
An excellent product!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I've tried other soils which claimed an ability to hold on the water but haven't been happy with them. They tend to compact more than this soil. This soil works great in the self-watering pots and in regular pots as well. All of my plants that are potted in this soil are doing well. I've decided to use it exclusively when I repot.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I am not a beginning gardener, but I am gardening more than I used to. The self watering container mix has worked very well for me in all my containers. I have a tendency to not water frequently enough, and this mix seems to keep the plants in good shape... I have been very pleased with this planting mix over several years of use..
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used this mix in the self-watering window box. It works really well and holds a lot of water. I have had similar mixes that work really well, and this is every bit as good. I think it would work very well in pots also.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This mix went from the bag to the upside down tomato planters I purchased from this site. It has allowed the tomato plants to explode - just planted on Mother's Day & less than 1 month into the planting, I have numerous flowers & a few baby tomatoes already. The mix keeps the roots hydrated & allows for easy expansion of the entire root system throughout. It is light, which is a good thing because when the planters are assembled & full, they weigh ALOT. I will use this mix next year, the year after, etc.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use this product in two containers. Each one has a different vegetable plant. This is the third year using this mix and I have encountered no problems. The yield from the plants have been good.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use this soil for tomato growing and flowering plant containers. Easy to use. All around wonderful product.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This soil has a high content of sphagnum moss, making it perfect for the self watering window box and a hanging plant pot we are using it in. It holds water without drying out quickly, and nicely wicks water from the self-watering reservoir of the window box.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
My tomato loves it.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have used this soil for upside down tomato planting the past 2 years and it has proven to be very good for this purpose.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This is great for container gardening. I used it to plant vegetables and herbs in self-watering containers and grow bags. Initially I used my own mixture of soil, manure, perlite, fertilizer and peat moss in the grow bags, but my mixture was just too heavy to move around once it was in the containers. The container mix is a perfect blend and it's light weight. It's worth the price.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
pretty spendy for the amount that you get in an order. perhaps the bags could be a little bigger.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Was very mussy.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Good mix for containers
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This Container Mix is wonderful. It has been raining in San Francisco about 50% of the time since I planted my plants in this Mix in February. I was sure they would die from too much rain but the mix in the self watering window boxes has kept them in great shape.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
A great mix for self-watering potted plants and it's easier to use if you don't forget to add the water to moisten the mix before you put it in the pots.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Nice smell and absorption
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Best potting soil I've ever used.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I grow tomatoes in my tomato success kit and hanging tomato planters in it. Mixed with some good organic fertilizer, it's great! I can even lift the hanging tomatoes-the soil is so light. I had to move some last year due to the weather.
The only drawback I had was that one of the hanging kits grew some mold or fungus last year because we had a really wet, humid summer. I don't fault the Mix for that, though. It didn't grow it as bad as some of the other things I was using for plants.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
USE IT IN MY PLANTER BOXES
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used this mix with my new window boxes. It's light and airy AND the plants are growing much better then with regular soil. Do it right the 1 st time, saves you time !
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I put together my first self-watering container this year for my herbs. The soil drains very well and the plants are loving it. Now, if it would only warm up!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use the self-watering container mix in two windowboxes that are attached to my porch railing. I have had these for several years, and each year I order the mix from Gardeners Supply because I know it will work well with the self-watering planters. I have seen other mix in stores that claim to do the same thing, but I would rather use Gardeners Supply's mix because it is tried and true. Once a week watering is all it takes. I recommend these containers and the container mix to all my friends who inevitably ask where I found such wonderful planters.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
It worked well for the hanging tomatoes.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This container soil or mix I order every spring at least 20 bags.I have big containers that are self watering and this soil works great. If I could buy it by the load I would. The flowers, house plants and tomatoes grow their best in this soil. I'v been using it for the last 4yrs and wouldn't use anything else now.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have purchased 5 self-watering troughs from you, and several converters. We didn't have quite enough soil, so used some of the soil I would normerly use in the converted pots. The difference between the soils is extremely apparent - the vegetables in the troughs with your special soil are noticeably bigger and healthier.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I've used the container mix for several years for self-watering containers. It works much better than normal potting soil, but it costs more. I figure it is an investment since you don't have to replace the mix each year. I use worm compost to refresh my mix each year.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
We bought this to fill our 4-year-old's 3'x3' grow bed to give him a good start. So far his veggies are thriving.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I planted two tomato plants using revolution planters. One held the self watering container mix and the other held the left over bag of soil I used from last year. Within a week the bag without the self watering container mix got too heavy from unexpected rain and broke my plant bracket causing my tomato plant to pound into the ground as it fell. The container with self watering container mix is easier to lift when hanging and is also still holding strong.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This "soil" mix is wonderful. I have used it in my self watering planters for 2 years. It is the best mix out there!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used this self watering container mix last year at our weekend cottage as we cannot water during the week. My plants never looked so good. this year I am also going to use it in my flower pots at home so I will not need to water as often. Works great!!!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have never been sure why you only advertise it for "self watering pots." I use it for all outdoor container plants. It works just as well. if not better, than other soils. I like the fact that it is lightweight making the bags easy to lift and cart around. This is great for those of us who aren't quite as spry as we used to be. Considering our aging population, I think you're missing a good bet.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Very useful in the wonderful hanging planters. Easy to mix and put together.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Hopefully it will help during our hot summer months ahead
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I've used this soil many times for all my self-watering containers. I'm not convinced that it contains enough nutrients for a whole summer, so I add worm compost. The price is pretty high, but I can't find anything that works so well in self-watering containers locally.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
The product works wonderfully!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

a little more expensive than other bagged soil, but worth it!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I purchased two large self watering patio planters from this web site. I also bought 2 bags of this mix to fill one of them. I decided to buy container soil at [...] that matched the contents of this mix most closely (and which was much cheaper) to fill the other planter. I planted identical plants in each planter (snap dragons and pansies). All the plants in this mix are still alive and doing well while in the other mix most of the pansies died immediately and the snap dragons aren't doing as well. THIS MIX IS DEFINITELY WORTH THE PRICE. I won't experiment with other mixes again for use with self-watering containers.

I live on property that has no unpaved areas to plant; hence I have a pot garden and intend to make all my pots self-watering. When I start with this mix, I am confident it's best for for the plant.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Used in upside down tomato planters
Didn't buy enought for the four planters and ended up with two of this product and two planters with "similar" material from a local garden center. MISTAKE! There was a big need (almost 2x) to water the garden center ones more than the Gardener's Supply mix. I won'r make the same mistake twice.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This year I grew tomatoes on my patio using the
Tomato Success Kit that had this kind of soil.
Not only did I have the best yield of tomatoes ever, but they tasted great too. That is because the plants received just the right amount of water to create big juicy tomatoes due to the wicking action of the container mix.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I put this soil in several container roses on my deck. Between the self-watering containers, periodic rain, and this soil I have not had to actually water the roses at all this summer. My family and I went on a two week vacation in July (the hottest and driest month here) and the soil was moist and the roses perky when we returned.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Always keep at lest one self-watering container just for distressed or"found" plants. They get special attention, but we don't have to worry about the watering.Used this for years. Cost has gone up, but we still reorder yearly--adding more containers as well as replenishing. [...] Friends laugh that I order "dirt" until they see the results.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I was given a Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily) for my birthday last year. After fretting over the limp leaves and sad look it had from top-watering, I started to bottom water it with a catch-bowl underneath. This became annoying and a bit unsightful. I came across this special soil and also the reservoirs for pots (which allow bottom-watering) and now have a very happy healthy Peace Lily. It is gorgeous!! Thanks for helping me to keep this very thoughtful and lovely plant.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I was given a beautiful Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily) as a birthday gift last year. It was not doing well in its original pot with top-watering, so I started bottom watering it with a dish underneath for excess water. That was just plain annoying! I found this product on-line, along with the reservoir system for any pot, and I now have a fantastic healthy Peace Lily. Can you say, happy, happy, happy??? :-} Awesome soil!! Thanks Gardener's Supply!!!!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Decided to use the recommended self-watering container mix to go with my new planters from Gardener's. Bags are lightweight and after filling 20" planters (including water), I can still lift them. Planting was easy. However I lost some of my drought-resistant plants so I'm not sure how the self-watering feature starts to work. The water in the reservoir needed about a quart after the first month. There must be some missing step to get the water defusing upward into the soil. I've been watering more and the remaining plants look great. I'm hopeful the self-watering feature will still work, especially in the winter with my native perennials.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use this planter mix to grow various vegetables, from tomatoes to bell peppers and herbs. It's a well balanced mix, that allows for good water penetration to the root systems, and allows for vigorous growth.I live in a very arid and dry upper desert climate, where water evaporation is very high,so this product holds the moisture in the soil wonderfully.I have nothing but good things to say about this product,I am very satisfied.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I must admit to being a sceptic. My niece bought this item for me, and I am so-o-o glad she did. As I might not have taken a chance on my own.
I had mentioned to her that I could not keep my hanging baskets alive. She insisted on getting the self watering hanging pots and the soil to go with it. My goodness, They Look Great!!! And, I only have to water once a week. Thank's Gardener's!!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This soil really does deliver on what it promises... to work better than conventional potting soil... keeps moisture evenly and longer and my potted tomatoes and cucumbers are doing much better than the ones in the garden. Because I work and travel often, I can rest assured that my plants won't be bone dry in this soil when used with a self-watering container.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
The boxes are very easy to assemble and to keep watered. The water level indicators are great and make keeping my window boxes moist all the time very easy. Sorry I have not used them before this.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Great soil mixture and I love having ample soil on hand when a new container arrives.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used for window boxes and the Revolution Planter and it was easy to work with and maintains moisture well. It is a little expensive when you need so many bags.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I'm using this product to grow tomatoes and peppers in the upside down containers. Very useful. These containers get very heavy with regular potting soil and this mix facilitates growing while not adding great weight to fences, etc.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
No comment other then it works great

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This is the perfect "dirt" for containers. It stores well, because you add the moisture when you're ready to use it. [...] It is re-useable for at least three years. Works equally well for flowers or vegetables. I have never had it mold or mildew. In short, "What's not to like?"
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Works well in self-watering containers on the deck. I've been able to take vacations without worrying about the plants.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This product is fantastic along with the self watering containers! We vacation a lot and after 2 weeks, plants still look great! The combination of the soil and planters is the anwer to having flowers all summer that are care free!

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Excellent soil for all types of container planting. I would highly recommend this. It holds moisture well and the plant thrive in the soil. This should also be sold in Oklahoma and Texas.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have used this in the past for planting seeds, transplanting and overall
planting.
It retains it's body and composition for long periods of time, and is easy
to use again and again, as long as you add fertilizer to the mixture.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
The bag needs to give an approximate amount of water needed to wet the mix. It seems that it took almost the same amount, volume, of water as mix to actually dampen it.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
When the reservoir platform collapsed, my son put items beneath it to hold it up. It now works fine and my Fuschia plant is doing very well.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I;ve used this mix for my potted plants and growing tomatoes in pots. It's wonderful! Holds the moisture and as it's not tightly packed, aerates the roots.

The perfect design soil.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have a couple of Gardener's Supply Self-watering planters. When I used "regular" soil in them, the plants would get "soaked" and then it would develope "root rot." But since I started using their Self-watering soil, the plant have been happy and so am I.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
The soil was easy to work with and just great to add plants to it and set them in well.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
KISS - Keep it simple someone ---- This make plantings so much easier as everything is included in this soil mix. The plants thrive in this soil product
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used this with my new Revolution Planters - it was easy to mix with the tomatoe fertilizer and filling the planter was a cinch! I suspect if I used regular soil that I would not be able to lift the planter. Bravo!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Excellent product
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Soil is good consistency. The bags are not heavy. I think the directions should have suggested that you add plant food to the mix before planting.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Love the soil for indoor plants
Love the soil for my outdoor plants
Love the soil for my upside down tomato planter also bought from your company
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used this as the filler in the tomato upside down grow bag... Excellent.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Plants are thriving in this soil.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This is the first time I purchased this mix. I have always used other mixes and I'm very impressed with the quality of this product. The vegetable plants are doing very well in our cold and wet spring on Cape Cod this year.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have all my hanging baskets, window boxes and most of my outdoor pots converted to self-watering containers using this mix. Everything is growing well and flowering beautifully. My deck has never looked better and I don't have to worry about being gone a couple of days in our really hot and dry weather. I come home and everything is thriving!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used this with the upside down tomato planter, which works well as the soil is very lightweight and perfect for this planter. I have my first tomato after only a few weeks...Yay!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Pots with water reservoirs plus this potting soil seem to have solved problems with heat/cold and watering. In the Summer heat, the water keeps the root area from becoming too hot and keeps the plant correctly watered. In the Winter cold, the water keeps the roots from freezing and correctly watered. And it frees me from watering all the time. I just fill the bottom of the pot with water. The plants are looking happier too.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Did not purchase enough of mix for window planters. Made my own mixture using peat moss, perilite, mushroom compost and sand. This worked as good as bags I purchased. Had 25lb bag of perilite on hand from a farm store which I had used for hypertufa planters. Everything else can be purchased from garden supply stores. So you can mixup your own or buy direct and pay frt.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
The container mix is working wonders on my tomato plants.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I bought the self watering patio planter and used this specific container mix. It is rich and yet light. Very easy to plant items in it and the combo of materials is quite unique. It holds the plants and distributes moisture and yet it also drains well. The container is great but the soil is a big part of the key to success. I recommend this. The bag was a good size too that I could get it out of box and use it (smaller than larger/heavier bags from "home stores and garden centers")
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used this product for growing a tomato plant in the Gardeners Revolution planter. The plant is growing fast and seems very healthy & happy.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used this in my self watering planter. Healthy herbs are growing rapidly. I'm very satisfied
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used this soil mix with my terraza planters and my gardener's supply window boxes and they have really combined well to keep my plants healthy in a very windy and at times very hot climate. I live by the beach in New England and the varied weather patterns can really play havoc with my plants. By having this system of self watering containers and this soil mix, my plants are able to thrive in the alternating hot and windy summers.

I grew petunias from seed for the 1st time this summer and transferred them to self watering planters loaded with self watering potting mix. We had our 1st 100 degree day this weekend and the soil remained moist even in direct sun. The petunias are growing fast. This is a great product.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I bought started plants from an outlet and transfered them. They have been in for 2 weeks now and doing fine.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Purchased this mix to go along with the self watering planter boxes. The GS-CSR informed me that next year I could resuse the same soil by adding the soil boster, really like that suggstion. So far my flowers and herbs are doing great.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have had two years of great flowers in my self watering deck boxes using the special mix. I add slow release plant food to the mix. Even in hot summer weather I only check the water level every 5 days. One comment...my spouse says I'm the only person in the neighborhood who orders dirt by mail!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

I use this product in my self watering containers to grow my tomatoes. Works wonderful
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I like this potting soil for my self watering pots (which I have several since I live in California where it doesn't rain for five or six months). It may be a little pricy but it is worth it if you have invested in the self watering pots. Soil is nice and light like you should use in these pots. It's hard to find a similar product locally.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I used to mix a similar mix - great to have it premade

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This is our second year using the self-watering container mix to grow herbs on the patio. Our summer is long and hot, and patio containers have not fared well in the past. Getting a constant supply of water has made all the difference, and the self-watering containers mean that we do not have to water daily for good water supply to the plants. Our herbs and our palates both thank you!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Seems to be working well thus far.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Using this soil along with the self watering containers is the only way I have found to have beautiful annuals in this very dry climate. The plants are lush and I can be away for a day or two without them dying!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Very good for containers that tend dry out quickly.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I just started gardening, and purchased this soil for my window boxes. I have no skills at planting and most things die, but my flowers are blooming and look beautiful, I would like to believe it is me, picking up gardening, but I have a lot to thank to this soil, it is fantastic and really helps my plants!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
The soil seems to be perfect; exactly what my flowers have always needed; especially in the self-watering pot I purchased. It has only been one week and my flowers look awesome.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
We're using it in the outdoor, self-draining, watering flower boxes.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use this in the self-watering window boxes. Last year I added water to the window boxes according to the indicator. I found that the soil stayed too wet. Some of my plants developed root rot. This year, so far, I water from the top just keeping the soil moist. So far, so good.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have been planting in my window boxes for the last 15 years with varying success. Now that I started to use your soil mix I can't believe the the fullness of the blooms and great looks and health of my plantings. I thank you for having such a great product at very reasonable price.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Perfect for anything you grow in a container. Grow's large lush plants.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use this in all my self watering containers. For vegetable pots I add some compost. I put a bag of the mix in a drug. Spray it with water. Mix it. Add it to the container, set in the plants. Then give the container a good watering.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
My plants are bigger any healthier this year than ever!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
The herbs and veggies I planted two months ago in this stuff are going nuts!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
My fault but I did not read the directions until after I had filled the growing container with this soil. I was supposed to have mixed in water as I filled it, which is a pain in any event, and I had to dump everything and start over. I am now having an issue with fungus on my tomato plants, a problem I've never had before. Don't know if it has to do with this mix "holding on" to water or what - but I am underwhelmed by the product
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
It works well with the self watering contains. I was amazed at the root growth my plants had made in just a week.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use it for my hanging tomatoe tree that I purchased about three years ago. It's not heavy and full of nutrients so I like it. My tomatoes seem to do very well with this soil.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This container mix works great with the self water pots and kits. i would buy this again.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
This mix makes it really easy to set up the hanging planters. I would buy it again.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
My deck garden is extremely lush this year. The soil has a great texture that the plants seem to love, and my previous twice a day watering routine is now every other day. I'll be getting more of this stuff.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
As a beginner, it was nice not to have a premixing project to do before I assembled the planter.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
We used this in 3 window boxes. We have always had trouble maintaining the proper moisture level in our window boxes - this product has solved that problem. And the plants love it - they are spilling over the edge after only a week of being planted.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use this every year and have beautiful potted plants on my deck. Thanks.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Although this was a convenient size for the hanging tomato bags, i find that because there was no fertilizer in the mix to start the plants that I would not use again and will stick to miracle-gro plant mix.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
My plants are happy and thriving. The mix seems to retain an appropriate amount of moisture. It's too early to know how the harvest turns out!

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
When container gardening, my biggest problem is that conventional (read chemical-enriched) potting soil BURNS MY HANDS. I enjoy gardening as a way to get close to the earth and nature; I don't enjoy having to wear hazmat gloves to handle dirt.
I was THRILLED to be able to work with this material and not have blisters all over my fingers when I was done. (I have eczema prone skin, it blisters with scary ease and then bleeds, itches and burns for weeks.)
This container/potting soil is wonderful, because I can add EXACTLY what I need, when I need it. This means I can use it for ANY container/pot planting!!!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Great potting soil for window boxes and hanging baskets. It's lighter weight than other potting mixes, helps the roots from young plants to spread quickly and seems to hold moisture well.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
The self watering container mix is a good product for a novice but one that can be duplicated at a much lower cost by anyone who understands garden soils. Also, I do not understand any reason to discard the soil mixture after the growing season is over. I will simply dismount the planters and store them in a dry environment where temperatures stay above freezing - to prevent the planters from cracking if there is still water in the soil.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I bought what I thought was enough of this soil to fill the planters I also purchased. I got twice as much as expected but am not concerned as I love the self-watering planters and plan to purchase more. This is easy to work with, very light and seems to hold water well--my plants are doing great. Considering the shipping costs though, I wonder if it would be cheaper to make your own.

When I bought the stand and hangers,I figured I would try their container mix,and their all purpose fertilzer.Well let me tell you,I could not belive my eyes.I planted three Tomato and one Pepper plant[small plants]The first week they grew a little, then we left on vacation for seven days, and when we got back, the plants grew three times the size they where, and four little Tomatos on one plant and tomato flowers on all the plants. The Pepper plant has five very small Peppers starting.I will continue to buy there mixs, and fertilzer.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Last year I used a potting soil with moisture control and the plants had a hard time growing with the self watering system but this year I used the self watering mix and my potted plants are much happier. The mix is nice and light which allows the roots to find the water vapors much easier. I will be using the mix each year.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I really like this dirt. I live in Calif and we are in a drought so you are not suppose to water a lot. I'm useing it for the Topsy Tomato tree and you know how much tomato's like water. Well so far I don't have to give them more or less (depends on the weather) then a quart a day and there are 3 plants in it. Also I know it's silly but I didn't use my gardening gloves when I put the dirt in , because it felt so silky.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
We started growing tomatoes upside down in hanging bags three years ago, when our puppies proved to be all too interested in ground level plants. We love it - no weeds, easy to avoid overwatering, simple to harvest - and attractive.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Love this product. We use it in our outside planters for vegetables and I have added it to my inside plants. It is lightweight and the water doesn't sit on top or make a hard crust after watering. It's a little expensive, but far superior to any other mix I have found.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
A nice blend of soil and additives but could probably do better at your local hardware or lawn store in terms of price. It was nice to save the trip, but the cost is high.

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I have post of flowers hanging in full sun from my fence. I am away alot and not around to water the plants. This, combined with a self watering container does a great job keeping my annuals alive. The pots are in full sun and made of metal. Depending on the weather, I can get from 2 days to week without watering. If it's 90 degrees and dry, I might get only two days. But, if it rains even a little, I can get through a week, especially in cooler weather.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
Uste in tomato tree

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
First, it doesn't cost a fortune to have planting medium delivered to your door. This is a lightweight healthy container mix that won't weigh down your pots, indoors or out. I add some fertilizer to this mix before filling containers and have had great success with tomatoes, peppers, herbs and flowering plants. I won't use anything else now! This mix is much lighter than other mixes I've tried, and it smells good!
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
The only thing I noticed was while filling the planters the wind blew some of the soil out until I mixed it with more water

Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I am new to this, so I wouldn't take my word for anything.
Also, I only recently started using it.
However I can say that in my self-designed self-watering container garden with 30% this stuff on the edges dipping into the large reservoir and a mix of regular potting soil and compost everywhere else the soil stayed slightly damp but not overly saturated for 3 weeks without adding any water or doing anything in particular.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I am using this in the self-watering containter planter, and I have never had such great looking tomato plants. Will definitely buy over and over again.
Comments about Self-Watering Container Mix:
I use in my three self watering window boxes. It is airy and the plants geta good start with their little roots. The soil draws just enough to water the plants, no over watering.
