We set the "garden " up 2 weeks ago and the plants look great ( better than in our big vegi garden!) It is a handy and nice looking way to have some plants up on the deck near the kitchen door. I would definately consider this as a gift for someone.

    Comments about Tomato Success Kit:

Gave this to a friend who found that either the instructions for the water funnel were missing or the funnel should have been constructed before shipping. She just inserted it without doing anything only to find that it failed to measure the water and overfilled, leading to water pouring out of the container. Thinking there was a hole in the container, she removed tomato, soil etc, only to eventually find that it was the funnel assembly that was the problem. Now it works... perfectly.

Comes with everything you need to grow beautiful, mega-producing tomato plants.

Water capacity allows you to leave for a couple of days without worry.

    Takes little space.

Being self-contained, you are not washing nutrients into the ground like with regular pots.

You should pay me a commission, I have already referred it to several friends and family members who are going to purchase one or more!

    Comments about Tomato Success Kit:

I now have 7 of these for my deck container garden and they work well. I bought 2 in 2007 and they have held up well. Each had a 2" x 4" drain hole on the side, that allowed for watering from below and venting overflow. Next year I ordered another one, but it didn't have the drain hole and with a rainy summer, the tomato in that pot rotted while the other two performed fine. This year's catalog advertizes the "new drain hole" so I ordered 4 more, but when they came... no drain hole! I called customer service who said it was a misprint. I still like these for tomatoes and peppers, (only put 1 tomato per pot)but I may have to drill drain holes myself. Wish Gardener's would bring back that feature for real!

Went together as the directions said. One suggestion; the water filler tube should have a "locking" bottom cap. It kept coming loose when sliding down into position. After the third time it stayed on.

    Comments about Tomato Success Kit:

The Tomato Success Kit is a godsend to any gardener lacking space or dealing with lack of physical mobility. The generous water reservoir with gaugr minimizes attention to watering. The support cage is very sturdy and immobile when in place, eliminating concern for support for heavy plants. With optional casters this planter is very mobile and easy to relocate. I am 80 years old and physically handicapped but my desire to grow tomatoes is fully accomodated.

    Comments about Tomato Success Kit:

The water gauge assembly did not work for me. I use a slim stick to test water level. Because of this, I do not really know what the water level should be when full. I push the stick to the bottom of the well and am getting a reading of about 1" after about adding 1-1/2 gallons of water. Can you advise proper level?
Don't know if it drains well or not.....advise?

    Comments about Tomato Success Kit:

I planted two tomato plants in this container last summer and was unhappy with the meagre crop. There was a problem with the water gauge and I seem to have drowned one of the plants. I struggled with determining the amount of water needed for the other plant for the rest of the season. The cages are a bit flimsy and need more support than what comes with the kit. I love the idea of self-watering, but alas! The reality was not what I had hoped for.
