    Comments about Self-Watering Windowboxes, Green:

I have used self watering containers for more than 20 years successfully.
The self watering boxes can be used to design an attractive garden on a deck without crowding it as they can hang on the outside of the railings in a way somewhat reminiscent of the flowered balconies that one can admire in Europe.
These boxes offer easy watering maintenance with minimal work. Plants thrive in the self watering containers uptaking only the water they need.
The early version of the product was superior as it offered the ability to keep the overflow closed and thereby were suitable for use indoor on wood or sensitive supports. They remain nevertheless an excellent outdoor product.

The gauge is wonderful to indicate water levels. Our 5 year old son has made it his job to check the levels and add water. The seeds are growing well.

    Comments about Self-Watering Windowboxes, Green:

I ordered 2 of theses self-watering window boxes. I planted tomatoes and oregano in both of them. Sounds strange to have tomatoes in a window box, but they work great as privacy and they cascade over the planter. Oregano tends to die quickly with our Florida heat but these guys are doing phenominally. I will be buying more of these planters for all my herbs. Easy filling into water reservoir, easy to read water level. This continuous watering is the key to my healthy plants. I'll have tomatoes year round now.

    Comments about Self-Watering Windowboxes, Green:

I bought the smaller boxes based on my experience with the longer ones wanting to use them indoors on a rack under grow lights. One inconvenience however that I discovered is that the drain holes in the bottom are open. The larger boxes had drain holes which could be cut open for outdoor use or left closed for indoor use. With these boxes I will have to put some overflow trays underneath them.

Put these on my deck with petunias in full sun and have a beautiful show that people comment on. I add moisture enhancers to the soil so with that and the resevoir make a good combo.

    Comments about Self-Watering Windowboxes, Green:

I bought four of these, put up two to start (very slow going this cool, grey, wet June). The boxes themselves couldn't be simpler (I do wish they came in the same, subtler range of colors as the self-watering hanging baskets and the non-self-watering pots). The sticking point, however, was the hanging brackets, which were not at all straightforward to assemble, even with the instructions (and I am not a mechanical rube, I can program my VCR). Getting them set up for my deck, drilling holes for the screws to hold them on to the railings, and getting the right size screws (couldn't these be included with the product, given that they're needed to install the boxes?) took time, planning, and a trip to the hardware store. Once up, however, they worked fine, and the self-watering is really wonderful -- wish I could figure out a way to have all my flower pots be as carefree as these! They hold a LOT -- at least twice as many plants as the usual planters one finds in the stores. All in all, very pleased with these.

I replaced an existing box with this one. It's much sturdier, though easy to install. It's great to easily monitor the need for more water. Attractive and efficient.

    Comments about Self-Watering Windowboxes, Green:

I love these windowboxes! I have mine on our porch railing (we rent, so it's important that I don't make any permanent holes in the railing), and they're looking great so far. They're super sturdy and easy to set up. We've had a lot of rain lately, so I haven't yet been able to test how well they hold water on really hot days, but I suspect they'll do well. I'm hoping to get more for next summer!
