I put lettuce in the planter, and am going to try it indoors next winter. The casters make it very easy to move from outdoors in good weather to indoors in weather like we've had earlier this spring (not so good). We used these on the Self-Watering Raised Bed. It takes 16 casters for the 3'x3'x18" container. They worked beautifully, even full of soil. But when we adjusted the bed's levellers, not all casters touched the ground. We didn't test them with the water reservoirs full, but I believe they would still work. Again, time will tell how they hold up to sitting on a concrete patio if the Texas sun.

I bought four sets of casters for my Terrazzo containers from Gardener's Supply. They work great, although the containers could be designed differently so that the caster snap in, rather than use fit into the holes loosely. Nevertheless, they make moving the heavy containers effortless around the balcony. Worth the investment!

I bought these after I had already assembled the self-watering containers. I was very worried that they would be very difficult to insert in the bottom of the self-watering containers, but I was so happy when with some help with my husband lifting and tilting the containers they were very easy to install. So if you are sorry you didn't buy the casters when you bought the self-watering containers--the containers are very heavy if they are filled with water and are heavy to move-don't fear--all it takes is one strong person to lift and tilt and you can insert the casters.

The self-watering planters get very heavy when full of water and these make it so much easier to move the planters around. So far they seem durable and the way the planters are designed, the casters are paritally obscured so it's not so obvious the planters are on wheels. A definite must for these planters.

Easy to use/install. Works as advertised. Application: installed on large Terrazza trough planter on my 3rd floor urban deck. Only complaint: casters should be included with that product, as in the case of the similar "Self-Watering Roller Planter". The wheels are easy to install once you find the grove they fit into. I was even able to install them with a plant and dirt in the planter already. They roll well over cemet and bricks, though not so well over rocks but that is as to be expected.

The fabric is lightweight enough that it doesn't squash the plants, but it's also easily moved by the wind. I'm using it over the raised patio bed on casters so it's hard to keep down. But is has been good protection from the wildlife.

The catalog states that you need 4 casters for the big 36" raised bed planters, but you need 16 for each planter, which is pretty nuts and expensive!!! The casters are small, and if they were bigger, it would roll easier, but they do work. Wouldn't buy the planter without the casters!

I bought the large 3' x 3' planter. It would be a nightmare without the casters. But you need a lot of them - 16! The casters work very well and I would not want this planter without them. I've only had this planter for a few weeks, so I cannot comment yet on durability, etc. of the casters. They were very easy to install though. My only comment is you need to realize the price of the casters when you purchase a planter. I ended up paying more for the entire package that I originally expected. But so far, I'm very happy with the results even though I did not originally realize I would need 16 casters for this planter.

All my planters from Gardeners are on casters--when filled with water, could not move them without the casters
Lets me move the planters under cover in the cold of winter

Very impressive product. It was easy to assemble and relatively-inexpensive. Highly-recommended. We bought casters with it so we can roll it around on our brick patio to maximize exposure to the sun (and to move out of the way when we need the room).

Containers must have wheels to move to best locations. Trust me on this :-) You will want to move heavy Containers to sun or shade, at some point.

Have used for years on the Terrazza planters, left outside all winter(Buffalo, NY!) and they still glide smoothly. Easily rolls a full trough planters across a stone patio. Simple to install.

Planters are heavy filled with dirt and water. These castors work wonderfully. Note that if you get the Terrazzo Trough planters, you will need 2 sets of 4 for a total of 8 casters.

The casters are a great addition to the terrazzo planter if you might want to roll it around. It's way too heavy to move once the soil and water are in. But my deck isn't level and you can't level the planter with the casters on. So the water rushed out one end when I started to fill the planter. I took the casters off and used the legs to level the planter and then it was fine. It was no big deal because I'll never want to move the planter around anyway.

The casters installed quickly and so far they are working well. The planter is heavy with soil but the casters still move it around the patio. Its the best idea ever!

I used the Tomato Success kits last year without the casters and knew I wanted them this year. (The planters were heavy.) They make it so easy for me to turn and alternate positions of my planters on my porch so each planter gets a fair share of sunshine. I highly advise them for anyone using the planters.

I use them on my planter cart which I have on my back porch. I need to move the unit out of the sun on very hot days as I grow lettuce in it. THe lettuce crop has been fantastic this year better than in my regular garden!

I work with developmentally disabled adults and moving large planters outdoors is very difficult. The casters have made our raised bed garden area a breeze. We can now change our garden by simply rolling the troughs into different groups and areas. These are a must if you are have any physical limitations or are just plain laze.

I was worried these would be stiff or unstable since they are made of plastic. To my delight they are neither. Definitely worth the extra money!
