I have used this product several tmes because it works great for seeds and plants. I have had great success with seed starting, and keeping plants at their best. It's light weight allows me to do bigger containers, as I am 71 and not as strong as I used to be.

Let me start by saying that I've used the store bought potting mix since I started gardening six months ago and was constantly infested with fungus gnats. I had fungus gnats flying all over my apartment and lost many seedlings and cuttings to them. I tried everything to get rid of them but they just kept coming back. I tried not watering my plants until they drooped, but the insects just kept coming back. Several times I had to re-pot entire plants with new soil and soon after I ended up with them again. Not once did I have that problem using this container mix! I even had two bags of potting soil on my terrace. It rained and both of them had some rain drip into the bag. Well, when I opened the store bought one, it was LOADED with fungus gnats!! I had to immediately close the bag and throw it away. When I opened the Gardener's Supply container mix, it was perfect. Besides the lack of fungus gnats, it's such a better quality of soil. Whenever I open a new bag of the store bought stuff, I have to break apart clumps of potting mix that compacted. When I open a new bag of Gardener's Supply container mix, it's so light, fluffy and soft. I love how soft and airy it feels!! It does take a few seconds to absorb water, but it's not bad and every plant I've grown in this container mix has flourished. I planted cosmos seedlings in the container mix, some of them so young that they didn't even have their first true set of leaves yet, and they all grew so fast and look so healthy! I have so many flowers and unopened flower buds right now! One day, the wind knocked the window box off the terrace ledge and broke off many stems in the fall. I thought the plants were going to die but there was absolutely no bad effect. Even the plant that had it's main stem broken off is still producing buds on the secondary stems. It's also great for seedlings. I planted some spinach seeds in the salad grow bag with this container mix and within days most of them had germinated and are growing strong. I've seen it with my own eyes now, plants LOVE this container mix. It might be easier to drive over to a local store and buy the popular mix there, but I'd rather buy online from Gardener's Supply and wait because I know, in the end, plants with this container mix will do so much better than any other type. Also, never having to deal with those horrible fungus gnats again is worth it for that alone!I HIGHLY recommend this container mix!! I'd give it 10 stars if I could! :)

This product helped to enrich my heavy soil so that my plants and veggies are growing like weeds! It helps to retain water minimizing watering and adds nutrients so plants grow very fast and strong! This soil is great and the best I have purchased and I have purchased a lot of different soils over the years. My lettuce came up quickly and it's the soil. Really light and holds the moisture.

This is a light-weight product that seems to slow down the growth of weeds outdoors. My favorite use is indoor gardening. There is never an odor and it stays light and airy with just a little raking on the top. I use a fork with bent tines for this. It settles very little and I need add only a small amount of additional soil after a few months.

Used this with the self-watering flower boxes and found it excellent and a great value. Comparable to premium mixes that are $8 for 8 quarts at my garden supply store. Last year was the first year I used Gardeners Supply products and they over wintered perfectly on a NYC fire escape, and for the first time my roses actually over wintered and returned vibrantly... Top dressed with their compost and all is doing well.
