Very pretty, no butterflies yet, wonder if item needs to have red in it. All the butterflies we have now are going to the red flowers, haven't seen any butterflies come close to this feeder. Maybe it is too early to reccomend.

Lovely garden accent for small birds or butterflies. It is a great addition of color in areas of the garden that are mainly green. I have purchased similar products before and this one is much sturdier. The glass is thick and should hold up if the deer knock it over! I don't use it as a true feeder. I took the feeder sponge out of it and use it for water only. I place it where the sprinkler system waters it, so it always has water in it.

The Butterfly Beacon is very pretty glass. It looks so nice sitting in the mix of your flowers. It sits in a black wrough iron stand and its some what wobbles but considering its for Butterflys their weight doesnt make it move.

Although I have had few butterflies this year, I kept the basin filled with sugar water and had the benefit of seeing a lot of Red Spotted Purple Butterflies using it. Tiger Swallowtails and Monarchs did not seem to use it as much but I did see an occasional black phase tiger swallowtail on it. A nice addition to the garden.

I put this item in an area that has butterfly plants and bushes. There is also a butterfly house too. The beacon adds color and beauty to the garden.

With automatic sprinklers, the butterfly beacon is being filled up with water which dilutes the solution. Have not seen any butterflys, but there are always plenty of ants.

The feeder is beautiful but I didn't see any butterflies. My feeder was an ant feeder! I tried the petroleum jelly. It slowed them down until there were enough ant bodies for others to walk across. Changed out the food for water then eventually took it down. Very disappointed. They need to design a fixture like the "Ant Can't" for hummingbird feeders.

This product is very pretty in my garden. I bought the nectar as well. Unfortunately, I have not attracted any butterflies. I am giving it a little more time. But, I love it so much. I think I will use it as a small bird feeder or bird bath.

First, it is much too expensive (even before you add shipping) and I'll either look for a copy at a big-box store or make my own. I notice that this vendor reserves the right to censor comments which make any reference to pricing! But I hope at least the second half of this review will see the light of day.

Second, many of the one-star reviews complain about ants. The cure for this is simple: rub a little petroleum jelly (for example, Vaseline) around the stake about halfway up. Ants cannot cross the vaseline barrier. I learned this when I had to fight off ants in my hummingbird feeders.

This is a beautiful piece. It looks great in my butterfly garden. I have not yet seen any butterflies feeding from it but it could be too early in the season (beginning of June in NH). I did not purchase the nectar sold on this website because I wanted to make my own. This however, could be the reason I'm not seeing any butterflies. I hope to see them later in the season.

I love the colors swirled in the glass. It's beautifully made. The problem is that the sponge (actually a plastic pot scrubber) keeps blowing out of the holder. I have not seen one butterfly use it. That being said I still like to look at it as a garden ornament.

I purchased this as a gift for my sister and she absolutely loved it! Set up was easy and she had her first butterfy within 2 days. A guest to her home has already asked where she can purchase one for her own yard. The only small drawback is that the nectar does attract small ants, which may be undesirable for some people. My sister placed hers in a flower bed at the lower end of her garden, so it is not an issue for her, and it is still very visible from any part of her yard or patio.

I have to say that when I placed this butterfly beacon at the base of an oak tree on the edge of our patio garden, I had no idea how useful it would be. Being a little too early for butterflies, I just filled it with water and within hours, I had my little furry friends (chippies & mother squirrel who has a nest inside the oak tree) drinking water from it. Now it has become a source of water for the 4 baby squirrels as well who come down the tree daily to forage for food.
I have a clematis growing up the metal stake, so it hides it well & makes it look beauiful. I'm looking forward to trying it out as a butterfly feeder later in the season once the baby squirrels are grown and gone.

This feeder is so pretty that it looks like a piece of art in my landscape! It is also easy to fill, set up and clean. I have it set up right next to a butteryfly bush, yet after nearly a month the butterflies haven't found it. Hopefully they will soon, then this feeder will be perfect!

I gave this item to my mother for Mother's Day. It is a beautiful product. Even just sitting in the yard, it is wonderful. But it works, too -- the first day she sent it up, butterflies were drawn to it.

I have had this item up in the garden for a few weeks now, following the instrucitons with the Butterfly food. Very pretty in the garden. We've had two very windy storms since I purchased these...the metal stand is very sturdy and they held up well. The stand comes in pieces which screw together. I left one of the pieces out of one, so I have two butterfly beacons at different heights. Would make a lovely gift.

I have been disappointed in the fact that everytime it rains the nectar gets diluted or it fills up with just water. I need to water my garden and lawn with the sprinkling system and it needs to be brought in all the time along with the evenings and some days for unexpected rainfalls.

I live in a townhouse with a small front lawn. My husband and I love to attract butterflies, hummingbirds, bumble bees, and hummingbird moths. While we have luck with this product to attract these creatures we also attract ants, wasps, and yellow jackets. It's really is no big deal because these ants, wasps, and yellow jackets do not bother anyone and they are good eating for the hummingbirds. Hummigbirds not only drink hummingbird nector (sugar water) but they eat insects to nourish themselves. So it's a win/win situation.
